Once again, Sunset Cemetery is in the news. The indignities never seem to end for Sunset. Recent…read morenews stories have reported that some evicted squatters from the Kaka'aco Park area have moved into the Sunset Cemetery and have resisted further eviction, sometimes violently. Their tenancy here has been accompanied by the usual garbage and trash all around their area of occupancy. Now there are reports in the local media that one of the vaults in the mausoleum mentioned above has been forced open and its contents scattered around the area. The bones of a disarticulated skeleton have been recovered. An empty stone chest found nearby may have been the container for the bones. (This kind of placement may have represented a reburial of some kind, which is not an unknown custom here in Hawaii, especially among some Chinese groups.) This is beyond ordinary vandalism and is desecration of a grave which is not only illegal but downright nasty. This kind of thoughtlessness here is certainly shocking, but to those who are familiar with the plight of Sunset in recent years not exactly a surprise. I just wonder how much longer it will be before the cemetery taken over by the city. Sunset Cemetery is suffering the same fate as many private burial grounds. It is simply been abandoned went it is no longer profitable.

I had an urgent need for service but was told "scheduler" isn't here today and would have to wait three days until they return just to schedule an urgent issue! In today's world of technology with numerous scheduling software solutions available, getting an answer that a person has decided to take a 4 day holiday weekend and therefore urgent scheduling can't take place until they return is unacceptable. What if the person isn't there again? Invest in very affordable scheduling software and address urgent issues as they arise. UPDATE: Received message from management who committed to sending technician before the 4 days originally quoted for scheduling and my issue was addressed during the holiday weekend which I'm grateful for. The service for feral chicken trapping was a complete waste of money. It cost $497.38 for one week…read morewith two traps in a small, privately owned dog park. Invoice #1298339. There are three roosters who are in the area, two hens, and six half-grown chicks. Over the course of one week, one hen and a little chick that I had never seen before were caught. One rooster, the smallest of the three, was caught but got back out. The half-grown chicks could go in and out of the trap, eating the food and then leaving at will. The trap has bars on the end that are difficult for the chickens to get into but apparently not impossible to get out of. There were chickens all around the traps constantly, pecking the feed through the sides, but they were not caught. This trap was "contracted" with the City and County of Honolulu. I think that the City and County should look at a different service using a different type of trap. I am not sure how much the City and County kicked in for the cost, but the balance to the customer of nearly $500 seemed like a lot. It would have been worth it if the traps had been at all effective. I ordered a cage from Amazon for about $150. We'll see how that goes to try to do it on my own.

USS Nevada is the fifth ship memorial at Pearl Harbor, joining the Missouri, Arizona, Utah, and…read moreOklahoma. Like the OK, there is no actual ship to view. The Nevada is the only battleship to got underway during the attack on Pearl Harbor. As she steamed toward open sea, she took another blow that put her at risk of sinking and blocking the channel access. Her captain decided to run the ship aground at Hospital Point, which is where the memorial is today. This memorial can be viewed by military access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The flag and marker can be viewed from across the water at Ford Island or by military Pearl Harbor tour. Military members or those with base access should definitely consider visiting all five memorials to give their guests a Pearl Harbor experience beyond what the island companies offer.
