If I had a food blog (in process) and I had to write about which wings place is THE best in OC? I would have to say Wingstop takes the crown, bar none. It beats all other wings places in virtually every category, including taste, size, texture, deal, EVERYTHING! My personal favorites are the lemon pepper, garlic parmesan, and hot. Each flavor tastes just like the name. If you get lemon pepper, that's exactly what your going to get and it's freaking GOOD too. Their wings are perfect in size and it doesn't feel like your being jipped on the meat. Also, the skin is nice and crunchy. One of my pet peeves is going to a wings joint and being served with wings that have no crunch to them. What's the point? And for about 50 wings up to 3 flavors along with 2 sides, you only have to pay about $35. Sounds like an awesome deal to me. Their fries really stand out. It's funny because when you look at them, they don't appear to be anything special. Looks like a sad soggy french fry if you ask me, but when you bite into them they add a secret sweet ingredient and I am 99% sure it's sugar. Therefore you get a play on tongue with the sweet vs. the salty. Employees there are always courteous and respectful, to make sure you're always happy. Speaking for myself, their tenders and fries are always on point! This is my current wing place. They're open till 11pm which is a big plus in these parts and you can always browse second spin which is right next door while waiting for food or just call ahead. I realllllly just love the wings at wingstop. I had a little difficulty locating the wingstop when I first drove in here, I circled around the block before I finally found the store. This location is definitely smaller than the other wingstop I've been to in Irvine. We ordered the family pack size, 35 pieces (3 flavors we can choose from). We chose Hawaiian, BBQ, and Lemon Pepper chicken wings. It also comes with a side of veggie sticks and a large fries. The Hawaiian wings were sweet, which I like but it wasn't saucy enough. BBQ wings were a hit. Lemon Pepper was just really good. Out of all of them, I like lemon pepper wings the best. Wings are some of my favorite snack foods. I go to Wingstop on a rare blue moon occasion but never seem fully satisfied at the end of my meal. They have a variety of wing flavors that are boneless or bone in. They also sell French fries that you can get with different toppings on it. I have tried their fries over and over again because I want them to be good but they never are and always end up too dry and not enough flavor, but granted they are Wingstop, not fry stop. Their wings have decent flavor especially the Parmesan and lemon pepper flavors. None of their spicy ones are too overly spicy and the mango Haberno has a good flavor to it. I am not a fan of their pricing scheme however. I went in on a Tuesday to order 20 boneless wings since wings are .60 cents on Tuesday but it does not come with any sauces which I don't like. As I was leaving I saw a sign that said I could get 25 boneless wings for 15 dollars that came with 3 sauces and that would have been cheaper. Why would they not tell me that?! read more

The wings @ Wingstop were a bit dry, and, since I ordered my wings boneless (and I rarely to almost never use a fork), it's not that easy to consume them with my hands. I saw on the window that W.S. has a new sauce on the menu, Chili Lime, so I decided to give it a taste. It wasn't that bad, but the Atomic? Yeah...get ready to head to the soda fountain a few times. Horrible experience here last night! The girl who took our order was extremely rude and did not acknowledge me the entire time my boyfriend and I were at the counter. My standards for good chicken wings are a bit different from everyone else. The bulk of my weight gain during my tenure in New England over a decade ago was the result of an overindulgence of wings. All the wings there were big, meaty, and full of flavor. I ate so many, I would keep track by the number of buckets. How many wings were there per bucket? You don't wanna know. I had never been to Wingstop, so I decided to give it a try. I used the online ordering system on their website, and picked up the food in 15 minutes. The employee who brought my food out looked like she need a drink or two. She said "you want your receipt?" in such a drab and depressing manner, that I felt like walking off a cliff right then and there, before stabbing my eyes with a fork. With grease dripping from the brown paper bag, I peered into the box and see miniscule-sized wings. I tried a few and immediately liked the crispy fried texture on the outside, but was extremely disappointed in the amount of meat, or lack thereof. There wasn't much flavor either, and it was very oily. Good thing most were drumsticks and had slightly more meat than the wings, which was just deep fried skin on a tiny bone. It was such a sad looking wing. Pity the poor munchkin-sized chickens. Granted, the prices are a tad cheaper, and they offer a nice selection of flavors, but it can't overcome the poor quality of the wings. Sadly, I'd say they are on par with Original Buffalo Wings in Irvine. I did try Buffalo Wild Wings on the East coast a while ago, and they weren't too bad. I'd have to try them again here in Cali. The wings first off were meaty, hot, and crispy. The original hot had a nice vinegary tang, but the garlic parmesan didn't have much flavor to it. Fries: Nice and a bit past golden brown. They're long fries and a bit of a thicker and heartier cut. 2 sauces: Ranch had lots of good seasoning and blue cheese was just ok. Lowdown: A smaller order and pay at the counter, grab your food joint, no waiter service. The combos are a good deal, all of the above with 2 drinks was $15. I'd suggest you order a side of carrots and celery for about $1. This place is definitely better than Wings N Things in Huntington, still have to check out Wingnuts. I heard about this place for a long long time but I never went pass by one, but the other day I was on my mission searching for some fresh lengua, I passed by one of the Wingstop.. then I thought, huh.. let me just swing by and see what they have and how much is it...so I did. The place is in the little strip mall by Newport Blvd, slightly passed 18th St. It was around 5:30pm and the parking was getting full.. Parking here is hard actually.. imaging if it's during lunch or dinner hours. I went in and order 10 wings ($5.99) with garlic parmesan and lemon pepper, since I can get two flavors in one order.. I thought just want to try two of the flavors instead of one. The wait was long, b/c they make all the wings fresh, so I recommend if you ever want to order to-go, just phone in and pick them up later.. After 15 mins, my order was ready and on the way home, I took one out and start to munching on them since I was getting hungry... omg.. best wings ever.. they are crispy and hot, the flavors are light and not over powering.. I was very amazed it was still crispy after 10 mins setting inside the box. So I start to wonder why I even bother to eat wings @ Islands, they are 10x better!!! Plus they are juicy.... nom nom nom.. I don't eat here often (maybe once a year, if that), but they've got some pretty decent boneless wings. I usually like the get the spicy Cajun and original hot. This time my gf and I decided to go with some new flavor they had, called Louisiana Rub, or something like that. Anyway, it was way too salty. The rub was overpowering to the point that it made my mouth dry after each bite, which tells me there's enough sodium in each one to kill a whole lot of snails. The other flavor we got was good. I think these go down pretty easy with a side of blue cheese and some carrot sticks. It's terrible food for you, but every once in a while won't kill you. I went here last weekend. I love eating wings, but I'm not sure if I went on a bad day or not. First off, I went with my brother and his friends. My brother ordered Garlic Parmesan, and regular Buffalo Wings. I had a smaller 6 piece meal which was Lemon & Pepper. I don't know, but the wings look really small for it's pricing. The Garlic Parmesan looked cheap. All they did was dash and covered up the wing with powder. It tastes nothing, but powder. It was also pretty flavorless to me. Dry, and not that juicy at all. The Buffalo one is ehhh not flavorful as well. It's not wet like Wingnuts or Buffalo Wild Wings. Naw man. No way. It looked like a dry desert =_=; The Lemon & Pepper was good. It's funny because I've been to the shopping plaza this Wingstop is located in plenty of times, but I never noticed it. I've always heard things about their wings and never went until a few weeks ago when I was bored in class, hungry and decided to order wings online to take home. 15 lemon pepper and atomic later, I was pretty sad when I finished the lot. Crispy on the outside, hot and tasty on the inside. I was glad I can handle spicy foods because I had no idea the lemon pepper had a kick to it as well. And the atomic, well damn. Listen here, I've eaten quite a few wings in my day I reckon this is the best DERN place to get'em! What makes Wing Stop stomp on Buffalo Wild Wings, Wing City, Wing Street, Wings N Things, &&& Wing Nuts is the perfect way they fry their wings. Just the right amount of crisp and their sauces don't overpower the flavor of the meat or make the skin soggy. It's an art, really. Haha My favorites are the Garlic Parmesan & Hawaiian. The mild is standard and the Lemon Pepper is good but a bit salty. The other flavors are pretty standard. On the other hand, the fries are veryyy good. They put a hint of sugar in their fries seasoning which blends the flavors really well. I just wished they had a wider selection of flavors for the wings! Here's a tip: The price of 10 wings is actually about a penny or two cheaper than getting 20 wings (I know it's just a penny but I just found it odd that it's cheaper to purchase less wings than it is to purchase more!). So why not just get 2 - 3 orders of 10 wings so you can try more flavors? =) read more

I'm surprised that Wingstop has a lower rating. They have great wings and pretty good fries at very affordable prices. I normally get the cajun, bbq and garlic parmesan. The cajun wings have tons of flavor, the garlic parmesan has a great crispness and mellow flavor. I rotate between these two, they balance each other out. The bbq is also good, but also really sweet. Their ranch is so good! The wings aren't super meaty, but they have a good amount. My friends and I get full off of 10-15 wings. It'll cost you about $10.00 for wings and fries for 1 person, on average. The fries are good, but they have a subtle sweetness that I don't really care for.
