My wife and son were super excited to try barbecue at this famous local spot, but we definitely caught them on an off night. Reviews are mostly good for this place, so I guess timing and circumstances are at play. My wife ordered the peach cocktail and they were out. I ordered the RIBS, they were out !!! They didn't have the sausage for the combination platter and came out a couple of minutes later saying they had it (most likely just seared because the smoke was not there when we were eating). They were out of Brussel sprouts. They were out of MUSTARD !! I ordered a house pilsner they were out and I ordered another beer. Need i say more? On a good note they can barbecue. The brisket was very good. Great smoke ring and true winner. The pulled pork and chicken both had good smoke. Chicken was a bit on the dry side, but it was still good. Baked beans were good. My wife absolutely loved the cole slaw. Waitress was very good. Polite, apologetic and serviced us very well. We addressed our disappointment and hopefully by summer this famous BBQ spot can get back on track.

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on South Street with its own private parking lot is this gem. What looks like a seemingly medium-sized house on the side of the street is this unique spot. Out back there are several smokers that are fed with wood on a regular basis. Once inside you'll see the rustic concept. Lots of wood everywhere and a pretty open concept. Directly in front of you is the circular bar and off to the left is the main dining room. The lighting is warm and inviting as well. Service: The whole staff really took care of us since we were a pretty big party. We had no issues whatsoever. Food: So I got to try A LOT of things here. I started off with the Just Peachy which is Crowne Royal Peach served with a whiskey-soaked peach and some sweet tea. It was deliciously well-balanced and simple with only 3 major ingredients. Next up was the Homestyle Honey Cornbread. This was very good, soft and simple, I do wish the butter was warmer though so that it was easier to spread. Next up was the Honey Sriracha Glazed Pork Belly. It was so soft, so tender, savory and flavorful. I loved the bit of char from the "skin" and the sweet/spiciness was a great addition. Next up was the Smokey Mac & Cheese that comes served in a super hot skillet and it was SUPER CHEESY, yet very thick as well. This was so delicious, peppery, a bit sharp, but I really enjoyed it. Next up were the Buffalo Cauliflower Wings which are an excellent menu choice for those that don't eat meat. They're served over a blue cheese coleslaw and this was an awesome idea! I was very impressed because coleslaw is usually made with mayonnaise, using bleu cheese was brilliant. The "wings" themselves were crispy and flavorful. Next up was the Farmboys Old Fashioned which is a twist on the original classic. In it is Basil Hayden Toast Premium Bourbon and other secret ingredients. This was delicious as well and was just a hint too sweet to me. Next up were the Super Sloppy Nachos. These are a concoction of melted cheddar, homemade cheese sauce, baked beans, ranch, BBQ sauce, scallions, jalapenos and pulled pork. You can get chicken instead if you wish. These were delicious and very straightfroward, but pretty heavy. I actually really liked the fresh jalapenos that provided a bit of a crunch along with the chips. Very good. Next up were the Brussels Sprouts which are served with crispy pork belly and hot honey sauce. I mean, I guess these aren't healthy as they once were anymore. Lol. These were straight though. I liked how they were cooked and the other flavors involved drowned out the actual Brussels flavor. Second to last was the beef brisket. It was amazing and was so incredibly tender. Just simply amazing. I don't have anything else to say. Lastly, the smoked wings. These were super tender and they still had a crispy skin! The smokey flavor was excellent and there were hints of Cajun, maybe creole in it as well. I loved these so much. Value: Barbecue is usually on a bit of the pricey side, but that's just the way it goes. The food usually takes a lot longer and time is money. That's about it. This place wasn't crazy though and the portions are big so you definitely get your money's worth. In conclusion, I really, really liked this place and just wish it were closer to me so that I could visit more often. However, if you're on that side of the state or not, make your way there to check them out!

I liked the Mac and cheese. M & C is very personal. If you ask 10 people how it should be made you may get 10 different opinions. I like mine a little creamier but this was good, nice and thick and tasted great. The only way you can get burnt ends is to get them in a beans and burnt ends dish. The beans were good but the burnt ends they put in the dish were tough and dry. After chewing and chewing some of the pieces I spit them out. I love collard greens. Collard greens are one of the reasons I go to BBQ joints. Here it comes......they cook the greens with something (hot sauce maybe?) to make them burn your mouth hot and spicy. Why would you ruin collard greens by making them so hot that you don't even taste the greens? They went into the trash. I hate hot and spicy. I've never been to a restaurant that did that. Really annoying. This place is not cheap, so don't expect "typical" BBQ restaurant prices. But it's in an upscale Westchester neighborhood so I suppose they charge what people are willing to pay. More power to them. Keeping a restaurant running is expensive and exhausting. I might return sometime and try their chicken. I'll have some more cornbread and M & C and try another side dish. It may not align with what others have had, but so many people recommended Odeen's when I asked this community for suggestions, so I felt it was worth sharing. Unfortunately, not only did they miss the mark, but they seemed to miss the opportunity to make it right. We booked them for a party of 30-35 people, and it was one disappointment after another. Over the course of the event, our two servers had to make separate runs back to the restaurant -- one for the correct shrimp after the wrong order was delivered, one for the ribs, one for the cornbread, and one for the chafing dishes. Every one of those trips left our party effectively unstaffed, to the point where I had to step in and bring food out myself. Naturally, all of this pushed dinner service later and later. We had ordered barbecue shrimp and received two trays of cocktail shrimp instead. When we flagged the mix-up, the chef had the servers ask if we wanted to keep the cocktail shrimp in addition to what we'd ordered. We said we'd take it only if there was no charge, since we didn't need it but didn't want to see it go to waste. Instead, the chef had it taken back and thrown in the garbage -- roughly 5 pounds of perfectly good shrimp, when it could have easily been donated or put to some other use. It felt like a spiteful choice, especially at a time when food waste is a real issue and plenty of people could have used that food. Only 24 ribs were sent for a party of 30-35 people -- nowhere near enough. The cornbread was forgotten and had to be retrieved separately, and when it finally arrived, the honey butter was missing. The coleslaw was so drowned in mayonnaise -- despite our specific request for light mayo due to a lactose intolerance in our group -- that we had to throw out the entire tray. Worst of all, there was no backup manager on site. Our two servers made close to 12 calls trying to reach Mary, the manager we'd coordinated the entire order with, who was at another event and never picked up, leaving them completely unsupported while they scrambled to fix problem after problem alone. Because dinner ended up served so late, the servers' shift ended before everything could even be put out and cleaned up -- leaving us to finish serving and clean up our own party. The entire point of hiring catering staff was so we could actually enjoy our guests -- instead we spent the event managing repeated mistakes with zero support from the company. When we raised all of this afterward, we were offered a $300 credit on a $2,800 bill -- for one rack of ribs, the cornbread, and the coleslaw -- with no acknowledgment whatsoever of the impact on our actual event. Given that only 24 ribs were sent in the first place, crediting a single rack back doesn't even come close to fixing the shortfall for our guest count. The two servers on site, Francesca and Penelope, were doing their best in a genuinely unsupported situation. We tipped them generously anyway, because none of this was their fault -- it all comes down to the company's lack of management, preparation, and accountability. Nobody should have to go through an event like this, but more than that, nobody should be treated so dismissively afterward. I can't recommend this company for an event you actually care about going smoothly.
