I called Paradise on Wednesday and by Friday afternoon the filter was installed. They were nice enough to fit me in on short notice as our previous filter was leaking. Finally, I got fed up, since my daughter was supposed to have her pool birthday party that weekend, and left them a voice message voicing my frustration with their complete lack of update or communication & they reached out, not even 10 minutes after my message, VIA TEXT to me & VIA EMAIL to my husband, stating my tone & language (didn't even cuss them out) was 'unprofessional' and they would be refunding our deposit & 'wish us the best'. We could tell some things were not right. When we called RJS, Richard suggested a preventative maintenance visit. Danny came out and checked everything. Showed us a couple parts we could easily buy online that we needed. He walked us through the major components and explained they were in good shape and how to check for wear/damage in the future. He then also went through our box of chemicals left by the previous owner and showed us what to use and what to toss. Then we wrote down a schedule for our weekly maintenance going forward. Cables never worked and he said he never installed them before. Then switched to rope cables without any money back or even an apology. Had multiple problems with getting Phil to call back, help when our brand new cover had multiple problems and wasn't working correct. It gets worse! Then we had a lein put on our brand new house because Phil's guy put a Lein on it because he didn't get paid. Which we did pay but Phil obviously wasn't paying his guy and that is who our contract was with is Phil. Still to this day $12,000 cover doesn't open or close correctly. Phil also would just walk right into our house with his shoes on like he owned the place. Very rude and disrespectful. Then Phil sells- to Bill Lemke. Another person hard to get an hold of, doesn't return calls and forgets who his clients are to open and close pools. Has NOT been helpful at all. Bill promises to come out and then never does or shows up a week later with no insight to what's going on! We are still waiting 3 years to get our light fixed on our pool. The original pool builder was slow to respond, did not prioritize fixing a pool they built and basically left us hanging. Phil has been extremely responsive, professional, has deep expertise, helps to educate us on what is going on and committed to seeing that the job is done right. Follow-up wasn't great. Pool went in at the end of fall. Workers through a tarp on a left dirt and rocks for the spring. I had to call several times for them to come open it, then they workers complained about how the pool was left. Eventually it got done but a sticky residue was left at the water line. They sent someone out to clean it but he gave up and said it would wear off. They are also some minor scratches I asked about but the office manager ignored my email. Also when using a chalk line to mark out the cover mounting holes in the concrete they used red chalk which is permanent. Blue chalk washes off. Now I have a faint red line around my pool. No one ever explained how to run or operate the system. I had to figure it out myself. Basically, good initial work but no follow-up. Once they get your money they are done.

I reached out to Penguin Pools as I need our liner replaced. I was sent a quote with a contract to…read morebe sent back along with 60% of the quoted price and 3 liner design choices as materials were going in and out of stock almost daily. I signed the contract, sent a check for almost $4,000 as well as 3 liner choices on 5/12. I received an email that my pool would be opened the week of the 24th and the tech would be measuring the liner at that time to order the new one. I reached out to find out if I was able to find the exact date as I did not want to leave my gate unlocked for a week and I was told they would notify me a day prior to their arrival. Thursday the 27th late afternoon I reached out as I had not heard back and received an email the morning of the 28th stating that due to staff shortages and weather (weather had not been bad) they were behind but were hoping for Friday or Saturday. I expressed my concern was more about getting the liner measured and ordered and they assured me it would be measured at time of opening and they would be there that day. The tech did in fact show up and was very pleasant but advised me that he was unable to measure due to the pool not being clear. I would think when they scheduled this, they should be aware that pools are not clean at opening after being closed all winter. In years past, when I've had my pool opened, the tech brushes down the liner and hot tub, chlorine is in the tube, the skimmer is set correctly, the overflow spa is correctly operating. None of these things occurred on top of the liner not being measured. I reached out on June 1st with my concerns and was told the pool needs to be clear to measure. Although that is all logical to me, why was it not scheduled differently as they should know this if they are in the pool business. I was advised to send pictures and they would get me scheduled. I immediately sent photos and requested to be scheduled asap to get the liner ordered as it is a month wait for the liner and materials are what they are. I expressed I was concerned about the install due to the misinformation up to this point and have yet to hear back. I emailed them in the morning 6/4/21 requesting to just have my money refunded minus the pool opening since they could not have the courtesy to respond to my concerns or schedule the lining measurement, still no response. It appears once they have your money, they do not feel the need to do much beyond the minimal. I can understand if they are short staffed or busy but how hard is it to reply to an email? If I received an email, even if late in the evening I could respect that but nothing. Unfortunate that a company doesn't care about their customers. I will be contacting my attorney to get my money back and work with a company that values their customers. Very frustrated to say the least.
