I don't typically write bad reviews, but they have been nothing but bad every time I've used them. It took them 1.5 years to get my new pool heater working, they put a new liner in and from the beginning it started to fail, and they had the nerve to charge me to come out to fix it again, and it's only been 2 years since installed! Please call another company! I also agree with the other review about the unprofessionalism of the techs that fix heaters. They smoke, call the manufacturer right away because they have no idea of what they are doing!! read more

I called SPS and no one answered their phone. I then drove to SPS and no one was in their large facility. I walked around the building and the yard yelling "Hello?". No one was there. Strange way to run a business. $100,000's worth of equipment for sale and nobody to sell it. read more

Scheduled SPS to look at the malfunctioning heater of my elderly parents swimming pool. The heater would start but then shut off. Two technicians arrived. One of them smoked cigarettes the whole time. Unprofessional. They spent a lot of time trying to diagnose the problem, including, I am told, calling a diagnosis center which is protocol, if they can not diagnose the issue themselves. We were told the heater would need a brand new Mother board at a cost of $1,200 plus installation. My parents declined to order the part. They were charged $300 for the diagnosis. When I discussed that my parents would not have a working heater this summer, with a friend of mine, they took a look at the heater and told me right away that the inlet and outlet hoses were hooked up backwards. Apparently this is a very basic troubleshooting point. It was overlooked by the "professionals" from Swimming Pool Services, that charged my parents $300 for their misdiagnosis. Once the hoses were switched the heater didn't shut off like it did before we called SPS, it worked great! Imagine if my folks would have spent $1200 plus installation for the new board and the heater still didn't work! And it would not have worked unless the inlet and outlet hoses were switched to the proper position. When I called to inquire about a refund, of any kind, for the misdiagnosis, I was told that because the technicians followed protocol, by calling the diagnostic 'hotline' that my folks would not be getting any kind of refund. Does this make any sense? The diagnostic hotline was also wrong but they don't know anymore than what the tech told them. SO APPARENTLY THIS COMPANY DOES NOT OWN IT'S MISTAKES AND WILL NOT ADMIT TO THE TECHNICIANS LACK OF BASIC KNOWLEDGE WHEN IT COMES TO THE POOL EQUIPMENT THEY ARE HIRED TO REPAIR! AS LONG AS THEY CALL THE DIAGNOSTIC HOTLINE THEY NO LONGER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT THEY DO NOT KNOW! BUT THEY WILL STILL TAKE YOUR MONEY! SHAMEFUL! THEY BASICALLY STOLE $300 FROM MY ELDERLY PARENTS. All over 2 hoses that needed to be switched. read more

If I could give swimming pool services less than a star, iI would do it. My family has been involved with himfor approximately 15 years. They built our pool for us and we're very happy with Dave Thompson in the company when it was built but since then everything has deteriorated we have no contact anymore with Dave Thompson. The owner and I have found out yesterday that Dave is selling the company to Mike whoever that is. Mike sent his service crew out to close up my pool as the house for every year. The service team decided to charge us an additional $200 because they claimed that the proper amount of water was not drain from the pool. This is absolutely preposterous. We made sure that the water was removed below the skimmer level. On top of that the items that they took out of the pool for storage or strewn all over the pool area. We were not happy with the results. When I called Mike, he said that he had to charge us $200 because they had to remove 6 inches of water from the pool. This was not what happened at all. He then said that he would reverse the $200 charge this time, but never again I explain to him that I have been totally disappointed with The services provided by Swimming Pool Services. Mike was very arrogant and said he is now the new owner of the company. He said he was not gonna need to use his service team for my pool anymore. He also replied, good riddance. I can't believe that some party purchased in the company would be that way to me. I would never refer them to anybody going forward. I am so disappointed about the way I was treated and could never in good conscience refer anybody to them ever again. I wouldn't trust them with a leaky valve! read more

Many years ago I had SPS install an indoor pool in the house I was having built. Some time after installation, about half of the floor cleaners stopped working. SPS said repairing/replacing them would be very difficult and expensive, involving draining the pool and possibly tearing up the floor. We did not do this, not that they offered. They also performed the regular maintenance, and I asked if they could at least give me a discount on service since they caused the problem. SPS declined. Not surprisingly, we are no longer a customer of theirs. I know mistakes happen in every business. The real test of a business is how they correct the issue. SPS failed. I cannot recommend them. read more

Our inground pool is 30 years old! We have had 2 liners, 2 heaters,2 filters over the years. Always relied on SPS. Lucky me the heater and filter decided to die together and it was a surprise. I was freaking out. Scott from the service dept stopped at my house on his way to another job. Disconnected everything and helped me get the water chems to the right #s these last 5 days. Today he and Chris showed up to replace all of that. They did an amazing job. They were here early, working efficiently to replace and fix everything. Couldn't ask for better Customer Service or Workers! Thank You Chris and Scott for helping me keep my sanity. They explained the new units in simple terms! I might say that SPS is one of the best retail experiences I've ever had. Everything from the start was fantastic. Dave, Mike, and the team are truly service experts and bend over backwards to make sure you're happy. All we needed (for now) was a hot tub to fit in with the aesthetics of the rest of a new landscape project, but the buying process was smooth, questions (many of them) were answered quickly, and Mike had no problem with being flexible on the way to get things done, including using FaceTime while I was out of town to show me some options. Just had an awesome experience from Ryan and Scott who closed our outdoor in-ground pool for us today! They were nice and considerate to my questions as my husband was at work. They even took service up a notch when pointing out something we should do to avoid a possible costly service next year! This is our second hot tub from Swimming Pool Services, first in 1999 and this year 2018. Both transactions were positive all the way through from purchase to delivery and follow up. Drew Klink helped us determine the best spa for us -- right size and number of jets. Drew came with the delivery team and give us lessons on running the spa. We are enjoying our hot tub -- everyone over 40 should have one -- relaxing, great stress reliever -- also fun time to spend with spouse or family. Horrendous costumer service. Rather than admitting making a mistake, they became accusatory and quickly cut ties after being a customer for several decades. After trying to go through the right channels to resolve this issue, there was still no apologies made and no adequate resolution. I'm extremely disappointed with this company's customer service and communication skills or lack thereof. Would recommend looking elsewhere for your pool needs if you want to be treated with respect. read more

We have had SPS maintain our pool for 3 years. 2 years ago we had them put in a new liner in the fall before they closed it. When they opened it the following spring, the liner was hanging down and wrinkles were starting to develop. They weren't responsive. After sending many photos, they finally sent a guy over who attempted to pin the sides up. The following year the bottom of the liner started wrinkling and 3 leaks developed. After many many attempts to contact them, they sent a representative out. They told us it was OUR fault- said we over chlorinated the pool (they were maintaining it up until this year- so they were the ones putting chlorine in when the problem began) and that we over-heated it- and we were never told it couldn't be heated past 88 degrees. Oh, and that it could be due to ground water? They offered to replace for over $3000! We paid over $5.5k only 2 years prior! Sorry- no thanks. Incredibly disappointing. Proceed with caution if you choose to use these guys. read more

We recently had Mo & Brad come to replace our Pentair pump which died last year. They called when they were on their way, as I requested. They were friendly, introduced themselves to me when they arrived. They worked very efficiently and cleaned up before they left. It was great!! read more

The staff at Swimming Pool Service are great in supplying water analysis, and support for my hot tub needs. We pick up an annual supply of chemicals during the Spring sale and usually are stocked up for the season. If I have water issues they have the solution to keep everything in balance. I would never trust what the service or sales staff had to say. They are only interested in selling chemicals at a premium. They took advantage of my wife and I. We were new to having a pool and the sales staff told my wife to pour 22 gallons of shock into our pool. We didn't know any better because we trusted these people and come to find out after consulting several other pool supply stores this is more chemical than should have been used all year. After confronting the sales staff with this information the only thing they would say is we did what was required. A week after putting the chemical into the pool the chlorine level is at 9 parts per million. I wouldn't trust this place with my pool. read more
