Anyway, my friends and I arrived for our reservation. The person who greeted us was friendly. We had to fill out a waiver and then pay before entering. He gave us a quick talk about the concessions, most of which were not available that eventing. He also gave us a bit of direction as to how to throw the ax. He also told us about the house rules. We settled in for a moment. We had all come directly from work, so were a bit hungry and thirsty. We had planned to get dinner nearby after, but wanted a little something at the moment. Unfortunately, we were told they had no pizza that night, so a pretzel was the only option. Also, they had just a few beer options and three mediocre wine options. My friends each had a beer, and I chose a Sauvignon Blanc. The drinks were fine.... nothing special, but we were there for the axes. Surprisingly, the pretzel was pretty good.. Despite the fact that we had been given a 2-minute tutorial about throwing the axes, most of the games they had made no sense to us. We gained a bit of guidance from the group next to us. I also made an effort to ask our staff person some questions. However, I still feel like we had really not clue how the games worked. We were only given one ax for our group of three. It was just one style. I have been axe- throwing before, and they had lots of different possibilities. I remember that I had fun trying the different styles. In my past experience, they also gave us more education about the games we could play together so we didn't feel so lost. They were also more available for consult. I think Axe-Thro is a fine place to go if you want to throw some axes. It is not the best for bar food and dinks, or if you want a little information on the games you are playing.

Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

These Wise Guys really are just that. not only did i love the team-building game they did for our group, i learned a heck of a lot too! if you have never played a team-building game then you have to call these guys. tell your boss that it will make the company money :) seriously, after playing the game they set up we all bonded and learned about each other. the game forces you to work together or lose. we talked about the game for weeks afterward. this was one of the best times ive ever had. i dont think i speak for myself when i say that we all felt like kids again. i just hope our group decides to do these games on a regular basis. my hat is off to these guys. they are so clever and creative and always with purpose. read more

I have played 4 games with these guys and each time it was a totally unique experience. i have to say, the level of creativity they build in to their games is so impressive. we had so much fun. we learned about new landmarks we didnt even know about and we were born and raised in the area. Myles and Greg do a fantastic job and are both quite funny. there is no doubt in my mind that each time our organizations play one of their games we grow together as a team. they teach you to work together to solve problems while belly laughing like a kid the whole time. highly recommended!!! read more

I was on the hunt for a ropes course for my sister's bachelorette weekend for MONTHS. I couldn't find one that was 1) in the area 2) in our price range and 3) open on July 4th. Not a single one. And then I received an e-mail that UCSD would open up their challenge course for us...a bunch of ladies (and two gentlemen!) who did not know what we were getting ourselves into for a couple hours on a Saturday morning. We only did the highs-only course that was 50 ft up in the air. This included walking on wires, jumping across platforms, upper body strength, and ziplining...to name a few. I know it's not the typical "bachelorette" extravaganza, but I wanted something thrilling and adventurous that we could all participate in together. That's exactly what this challenge course does; it tests your limits and helps to strengthen collaboration, but most importantly, it's FUN! I, personally, was not frightened by the height or tasks we had to do, but it was definitely exhilarating on another level (no pun intended.) I write this review with a profound gratitude for this company because they exceeded my expectations. THANK YOU for giving us a reasonable price per person (every other company I called was $3000-4000 for a group of 12,) being open just for us on a holiday, and integrating such vibrant personalities to lead us through the course. I wish we could have tried things like Leap of Faith, etc., but perhaps there's always another time! I think I've found a new hobby. :)
