The food was okay. Some was hot, others not. Their was one bartender to serve the bar and also the whole restaurant at lunch, which made service very slow . It wasn't her fault. We had a large family and we sat outside. We helped her deliver our drinks since she was over worked. Our drinks sat at the bar getting warm. She was prompt in getting us ice for our child that fell. I give her kudos for trying to do everything herself. It's tough when there isn't enough staff to handle service. We were fine with the included tip for a large group but the % for credit card use was a bit much. read more

Nothing highbrow about this stop that you can drive, motorcycle, bicycle, kayak, swim or boat to! Family atmosphere out on the deck today-watching the kids scarf down pizza before they go back on the boat. We had the Paint Creek Burger (added some jalapeños to it-thank you!), 16oz local brewery draft (only $3.75!), and a HUGE Broasted Chicken Basket (a whole chicken for $15!). Ordered wings and shrimp basket. The shrimp basket was not good. Advertised as a beer battered shrimp, but it was obviously frozen out of a bag. Not good at all. The wings were all drummies, which is fine, but I ordered an Asian sesame sauce, and they literally had no taste to them at all. They may as well have been naked drummies. Friends ordered the smoked Gouda bites. Tried one of those and wouldn't eat another one of them. The service was fine and the waitress was good. Just don't expect good food here. read more

Stopped in for lunch while on vacation from Iowa. The building is beautiful. Looks to be a fun place at night. Busy for midweek. Service was attentive - just one gal waiting tables and tending bar. we had our food picked out based on the menu online. Neither of our sandwiches were on the menu in the actual restaurant and the prices were higher than what they have posted online. We did decide to order loaded tots even though they were sort of expensive...we got 15-20 tots with a little taco meat, a couple black olives, and a couple jalapeños. We stopped at the view for lunch on a nice Saturday. The building is very nice and has excellent views of Lake Wissota. The bar has three garage doors that can open to the outside. It was nice and cool. The menu isn't huge but has lots of good options. Our table had a crispy chicken salad and a western burger with a crispy chicken patty instead. The lettuce and veggies were fresh. Great toppings to lettuce ratio. Very filling! It included a large cup of dressing and a breadstick. The western chicken sandwich was also tasty. Having your choice of proteins was nice. Initially, the service was speedy. We were seated and got a menu right away. Drinks and food come out quickly. It took longer than desired for our waitress to return to check on us and get us the bill. Overall it was a tasty lunch spot. I would go back. read more

Let's get something straight, this is a bar that serves food. If you are looking for a restaurant, with servers that fill your water glass every 2 minutes this might not be what you're looking for. But, if you want to catch the spectacular "View" and have some drinks with pizza or burger it fits the bill. We had a waitress that was overwhelmed with tables and still did a good job. Great food & ambiance but poor service at times. The fish & chicken wings have a light & crispy coating & are excellent. The wings are very light and they have lots of great sauces to go with them. The biggest downside to this place is the service. This woman with long fingernails was supposed to wait on us but everyone in her area had to go inside the bar to get served. After about half an hour of waiting while she visited with her friends in the bar we decided to leave. Then just in time a lovely young lady ( major in nursing) saved the day and gave us excellent service from then on. I love the view. They just need to focus a bit more on service. read more

Been waiting for 15 minutes for a beer while 3 bartenders look at their phone behind the bar. Good pizza, but poor service.

Worse place I've been in in forever. Do not stop here. We can't rate the food because it never came. Someone spent real money on the property and location, but they certainly care nothing about management. If you are 21 and looking to be drunk and dumb this is your place. We stopped in on father s day. Sunday at 230 pm. They had some guy playing loud music. Not good.... just loud. The place isn't set up for good sound. We watched three waitresses argue about who would take our table. We should have left then! Finally, after 10 minutes we got a waitress. My wife ordered a mixed drink. My son and I ordered waters. We then ordered burgers and wings. The menu is limited. After 30 minutes the waitress came back to tell us it would be another 30-40 minutes. During the wait we witnessed one customer sit with his feet on the bar, drunk. Yes, feet on bar. Then an ice fight broke out. Four guys v. Two others. Throwing ice from one side of the bar to the other. Hard! Another family also just looked around in shock. It was something you just can't make up. THIS was a Sunday afternoon. Hoping this review helps someone from our horror. They didn't even comp the drink my wife ordered. Our mistake... don't make it yours. read more

The bar is very nice the entire facility looks great. However the staff is so poorly trained it hurts the business. We went in for dinner. I asked the the waitress if they had any dark beers like an Oatmeal Stout or Porter and she stated she wasn't sure but would check with the bartender. She came back and the response from the bartender was "she had never heard of those brands". I explained to her they were not brands they were types of beers like IPA's. Then I asked what she had for Leinekugels and she went through the list and said we have Creamy Dark on tap. I said great Creamy Dark is a porter I would like one. She came back a few minutes later to apologize and tell me the keg ran out pouring my beer and they didn't know how to change the keg. She did bring a bottle of beer that she offered me. Now for the food review. I ordered the German burger with a side of onion rings. The onion rings were over fried and greasy. I had a few but didn't finish them. The German burger was also ver cooked I hate burgers that are burnt. My wife had a shrimp basket. Like my onion rings it appear that any thing that goes in the fryer stays there way to long and becomes a greasy over cooked meal. The waitress we had was very nice and friendly. Very nicely remodeled inside! All of the wood makes it feel cozy, yet clean. Jalapeño Cheddar Bites were amazing, if you're deciding between them and cheese curds - go with the Jalapeño. I was in the mood for a salad but they don't have one on the menu, so I settled on a western burger. It was just ok, and undercooked for my liking. I'd probably go somewhere else for dinner, but if you just want an appetizer & a drink, and a View it's a good choice. read more

Our family decided that The View was one small business we would support when this Pandemic was over. They have had a lot of setbacks in the last few years. We ate there yesterday. Service was really bad, we got there at 11:15(open at 11) we were the only ones in the bar. Server did come and put tables together as we were a group of 8. Brought menus-did not tell us of a daily special that website stated. After trying to order 3 different sodas and told they did not have our granddaughter had water. When it was pointed out to the server that there was a fork on the floor and a french fry under the table(we just had menus at this time) she said sorry and walked away. Finally she came and took our order. When the food arrived the salad had onions(did not state on menu), adult chicken strip had one strip and smaller amount of fries than the kids mac and cheese, one burger was forgotten to order(middle of the group that orders were taken). We asked for silverware, napkins and ketchup three times before getting them. When the burger that was forgotten was brought we asked to see a manager. He said he was the manager. He did take half off the burger and stated the owner did the cleaning just that morning. Later the owner came in and while he was helping clean up tables he realized that we were not ever going to come back. He asked what was wrong. My daughter told him and he did take care of the problem. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. Because of the way the owner satisfied the problem we will come back. However I will wait until the Social Distancing is lifted. Tables were not 6 feet apart. They did get pretty busy by the time we left which was almost 2 hours by the time we finally got our meals. The manager did bring our granddaughter more chicken strips and fries, but she had to wait. Server was told about this when we asked about the last burger(she did admit to not even putting in the order. Thank you to the owner for correcting the problems. I do realize they were busy, but in the past they have been a lot more busy. Was going to come with a group of 30 for Friday night fish fry in the fall, but am probably not going to try it. read more

Stopped in on Wednesday evening & they were still out of Tonic & Club soda. What is wrong with management??. Can't they ride over to Gordy's and pick up some Tonic and club soda? Lazy lazy lazy. The place will never make it because of poor management and very poor service. Any one who doubles the capacity, but leaves the small kitchen with a 60 year old pizza oven that will not be able to keep up with the new volume is not thinking straight. If only the food was good.... They just completed a pretty massive remodel inside and out including the addition of a HUGE rooftop patio. From up there the views across lake wissota are beautiful and taking in a summer night sunset up here is worth the trip. Plenty of places to park a car or boat depending on how you arrive. Inside the new floorplan is much better laid out and service was pretty good this time even if they were pretty busy. The downside is the kitchen is pretty small for the amount of people they can hold, what's worse is the food that came out was all pretty terrible. We tried a pizza (bland, mushy, blah) - burger (terrible nearly McDonalds -- I lied I'd rather have mcDonalds, French Fries were undercooked and underseasoned, and the combo basket was a mess of blah deep fried foods. I guess if you come for drinks, socializing, and the view it's great. If you're coming for food just go somewhere else. (I'd suggest waters edge if you're on the boat) read more

Stopped in for lunch while boating. I was happy to see the construction was done and open for business. I really looked forward to trying it. I sat on the patio and enjoyed a light breeze, good view and good food. The service was prompt and the soda refills were right on time. I enjoyed a 12" pizza. It was very good. We waited for drinks at the bar forever and never did order. We walked out. I was a server, I understand about being totally wiped out but then, at least acknowledge that you know we will be helped "I'll be right with you" goes along way. This place has a lot of potential and apparently at one time was quite memorable. There are few competing spots with patio dining on Lake Wissota. The set-up is nice, with two outdoor seating areas. But take one step onto the steps leading into the restaurant, and you should know what you're in for. The wood is warped, hasn't been treated in what must have been years, and several of the boards give way as you're walking by. There were moreover holes in the decks. The patio furniture simply hasn't been treated in ages. It's not the most steady, either, particularly for kids, but it's at least sturdy wood. Then, the food. My burger was at best average, and the excuse for barbeque sauce that's on their Western burger was enough to make this native southerner wence. Not even close, and you can get better buying something off the shelf in a random grocery store. Then there was the pricing. Really? $12.50 (!) for a PINT of Alaskan Brewing Company IPA?!!! I get this stuff for $3 a pint back home in my native watering hole and $7.99 a six-pack in my local grocery store, which, for the record, is not in Alaska or anywhere west of the Mississippi. There's no warning. The price is not printed on the menu. I don't kindly to being robbed. Not to mention that first of 2 pints was over 50% foam thanks to the unprofessional bartending staff. That alone pretty much killed my dining experience, and I won't go back. read more

Stopped out because we heard about the remodel. The sign out front says to see a server for outdoor seating, but we stood around for a good five minutes without a single person acknowledging our presence. Finally tracked down a waitress only to find out the don't have high chairs. Yes, I know it's a bar, but Loopy's has high chairs, The Edge has high chairs, and I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to get some food out by the water with my child.
