Not dependable at all! Don't bother, twice he promised to come do the work and never showed up or contacted me

I have been a customer of Derek's for 6 years. He is a great mechanic who goes above and beyond.

Update as of April 2025: After using Wittl servives all I can say is everything has gone negative. Personality/Friendliness = 5 stars Quality = 5 stars Pricing = 5 stars Communication / Responsiveness = negative 5 stars. While in the middle of "fixing" one vehicle, Derek claimed he needed to get a tool not with him. He then advised he couldn't find his and had to order a replacement. Never saw or heard from him since. It has now been months. I noticed his website has been modified removing the ability to schedule an appointment. I have 2 other cars (3 total) requiring repairs necessary to pass inspection. I've texted him numerous times with no response. I've called and have never received an answer or callback. It's now been months of radio silence. I'm going to have to seek alternate repair support and unless he responds I can no longer recommend him. You really are rolling the dice if he'll respond or follow through. Might even file with the BBB. (Revised. I am filing. This is ridiculous). I prefer to post positive reviews and this is only my second negative Google review in years. I'll revise or delete this post if he every contacts me otherwise remember the saying "caveat emptor," which means "let the buyer beware". Good luck if you use him! Back at the ranch, so to say, I was flummoxed how to resolve my repair and scheduled a service call. On arrival, Derek resolved the issue within minutes and then refused payment (so I tipped heavy). Anyhow, based on first hand experience I HIGHLY recommend giving him a call. Our Honda CRV would not start. Derek was able to work on it that day. He arrived at exactly the time he said he would. He was able to repair our vehicle in a very short time. Showed up on time talked a good game until he supossdly finished then after told me. Block was cracked. Took truck to factory dealer head gaskets were installed wrong gaskets damaged had to order new head bolts gasket set plus he attached 2 set of jumper cables and fried my starter before he left upon inspection he broke a piece of my intake manifold and drilled it to fix wich ruined it left several bolts out bot to mention scaring my new heads while installing. I like Derek / Wittl Wrenchin...he's a nice guy and knowledgeable mechanic; however, I felt I need to write an honest review. I've been trying to get Derek to fix a a tough problem with a Ford truck miss firing on several cylinders since early spring. He's often overloaded with work and horribly unresponsive. He also misses significant details when in a rush...for example the truck was pouring oil over the exhaust and billowing thick smoke first drive after he replaced the valve covers...he simply didn't check it or do a test drive when done. (To be fair, Derek did come and fix leak promptly after I told him). This is not the first time an important detail was overlooked. More importantly, months have gone by without a return call or txt and my truck still doesn't run. I paid nearly $1,500 to have timing components replaced and that did not fix the problem...I understand engines are complex and I was/am willing to pay for more work to figure out what's wrong...have asked Derek many times to come over over last four months and I'm stuck...don't know what to next as I can't get a return call or txt. read more
