Didn't stay here but made the long drive to experience it and have dinner. Staff- very sweet smiling welcoming... that's what deserves the stars. Property - smaller than I expected. Left late and she was still working out on the garden. Very sweet and small chat she made sure we didn't miss seeing an area on property. Wine - red recommendation with dinner, medium bodied, good. Drinks - amazing bartender wears a few hats so drinks take a bit, you better be patient for a good drink. Food - we had steak, seafood, and kids chicken dinner. Both steak and chicken were good, don't order scallops. Apologies but no recommendations to order something else, re-do, or anything off the check. I provided feedback on my experience 3 times and still no customer service on this expensive dinner. Only picture taken so you believe me. If I come back to this area for whatever reason I may only come back to enjoy a glass of wine in the garden, nothing more. All reviews I read were older so gave it a try. read more

Our bartender was very kind and knowledgeable. The Spirits Lounge is amazing setting the ceiling details. The wine flight comes with 6 wines and a nice size charcuterie cup. Years ago there were wine tasting by appointment only. The Castle has come a long way and is much more classy. read more

Please keep in mind that I rarely make complaints, for I worked in the restaurant business 10 years, and customer service for 20 years. With that being said, this place is awful and my husband and I came to the conclusion that the guy/chef whoever owns it, is scamming customers, by advertising 5 star dining. Food was awful, dining area was filthy, and service was bizarre to say the least. Found out by locals that either worked or knew somebody that "had" worked there, that the food is old and frozen, the use of microwaves are frequently used for cooking the supposed $65 to $100 steaks. I concur, my filet definitely was not fresh it was awful, mushy, raw, just simply disgusting! I had packed it up with the intentions to give to my dogs, and ended up throwing it out, because I worried my dogs would get sick! read more

Went with girlfriends on an unplanned stop while out doing wine tastings in the area. First off.... eww. It's dark, dingy, cobwebs everywhere... quite disgusting. I'm giving it two stars for the beauty it could and should have. The bartender was a legit freak. He kept trying to upsell for shots of tequila. Who does that? We were clearly not drinking spirits at that time, and told him so. He made rude and inappropriate remarks the entire time we were there. Watched him do it to the other ladies as well. A complete weird and creepy vibe the entire time. I wish someone would make use of this space and actually succeed. It's like a sad joke :( read more

Save your money! Not good at all! Huge waste of money! It started out bad and only got worse. We read before going that the mansion had a new bar so we got there early to enjoy a glass of wine before our scheduled wine tasting/ghost tour. We had to ask the not-friendly bartender twice to take our drink order--while we watched and waited for him to finish washing his dishes. We finally got our drinks and then asked to order meat & cheese trays and he tried his best to deter us from doing it saying it would take at least 20 minutes to get them. We said we did not care and ordered two--they were okay. (I have to admit was I was very surprised that two small champaign type drinks (served in champaign flutes) and one meat/cheese tray was $47). Our group has literally been on 100s of wine tastings combined all over the country--and the wine tasting here was the worse we had all been on. We sat at the bar and got our wine samples from the grouchy bartender in between him serving other people at the bar. The wine was not good at all--only because none of us like dry wine. However, it was not the wine that made it bad. The fact that we paid money to relax, have a good time and the bartender definitely made us feel like we were a bother to him--he really could not have been any more unfriendly. Two other couples that were in the bar the same time as us said the same exact thing when we ran into them later in the evening. We then moved on to the $87 ghost tour and dinner. We walked to a cemetery across the road and did NOTHING! Heard a tiny bit about the owners of the mansion at their gravesite--but very little of it made any sense or was at all interesting. It was obvious that the presenter had very little knowledge and was filling time with other stories/topics. After that, we went back and literally sat in a room and watched videos of ghost hunts at various locations--not even all of the mansion! Again, have been in ghost tours in Michigan, South Carolina, Louisiana, as well as other places. This tour was cheesy. We only got to hear about how great the presenter thought he was and the hauntings he had supposedly encountered. The whole ghost tour portion was unprofessional, and unorganized. At one point during dinner the presenter was talking about women in menopause??? (Yes, menopause and the changes a women goes through? lol) The only plus to the entire night was that the dinner food was very good. To sum up the experience and to put the icing on the cake to the whole night was walking out in the parking lot after the night was over and seeing a true movie like replica of the "Ghost Busters" car in the parking lot. The whole night was literally a joke and waste of money. The mansion is so beautiful--it truly is a remarkable place. However, I do not believe the current management will ever bring it to its potential. read more

If we didn't use the YELP Coupon online it would have been WAY OVERPRICED for the experience. We walked in - group of 8. It normally costs $15 per person. We walked to the "cave" or "cellar" which is outside, although covered. It was still super HOT inside. Very small area - girls behind the counter provided us samples of wine...mostly 1/2 glassfuls of all their wines. Nothing really stood out. Some wine was way over the top with taste of one thing like the white Chardonnay which I think was like an unripened peach. The bottles of wine were also overpriced. You get absolutely NOTHING else included. Skip it unless you like to waste some money here. read more

Purchased a wine tour from groupon and it was wonderful!! My fiancé and I had so much fun!! We toured the castle and learned about the history behind it which was wonderful and learned all about wines and which it gets paired. I don't understand how any one can give it bad reviews! Not worth the money. They were 10 mintues late and she acted like we were wasting her time. Never again.

Found this winery via road sign on our way home. Nestled several miles off the interstate, the castle was a fantastic and unique view when it finally came in sight. Directionals once there were not clear so we went inside the castle before being directed back outside to the wine tasting room. This is a newer addition for them but several downfalls. Rather small and cramped. No air conditioning - I believe the intent of being caved into the side of the hill was to help keep the room cool but in the middle of summer that is not working. $15 to taste all 6 wines they make. No options which is disappointing because, as a red wine drinker, the first 3 were dumped and a waste for me. You would expect decent pours for $15 or at least to keep the glass. No and no. Pours were a swallow at best and you don't get to keep any glass. As we were on our last sample the host began washing glasses in front of us. A dunk (yes, JUST a dunk) in the room temp water of bin one, a dunk in the next (assuming bleach perhaps but standing 3 feet from it I certainly didn't SMELL bleach), and a dunk in the last rinse. Needless to say I spit out my last wine tasting and was sick to my stomach. At that point I could not get out of there fast enough. EXTREMELY disappointed overall. Perhaps in 5 years or so when they have done some research into what makes a winery succeed? read more
