Hats off to Wm. Meyers movers Itasca!! 83 yr. old senior here...MAJOR surgery 3/10, needed to move from a 2,100 sq. foot. Townhouse to 550 sq. ft. senior living facility. Living alone and physically unable to pack, I called Wm. Meyers in Itasca. Never used them before but other reviews led me to call. Made appt. for an estimate and Bryan came out a few day later. He asked what services I needed, and then went through all 3 floors, came back and assured me they could handle it all. I would have to do nothing but sit in my chair. He came back with the estimate in a couple of days. Less than I had expected based on people I had spoken to. After almost a 1 month stay in the hospital/ re-hab center and also selling the property, the move took place. My belongings were going to 3 different locations on 2 different dates. Their professional team came, did EXACTLY what Bryan said they would, his advice and help along the way put me at ease and it went even better than I expected. Actual bill came in LESS than the estimate. Nothing broke, moved everything from massive king bed and pinball m/c's to fine antiques. Awesome (and caring work) by Bob, Mike, Josh and of course Bryan. I hired WM Meyers Movers out of Itasca, IL, in 2020 to move my Chicago area home into storage for 2 years while my Charlotte area home was being built. I put my trust in the company that touted themselves as "official movers of the Chicago Bears". At the time, they were not affiliated with Wheaton or if so, it was not communicated to me. Had I known I would have gone with another company as I give good credence to reviews. Move in date was February 15th of this year. Many damaged items were immediately evident and in the subsequent days of unpacking more and more was discovered. Frustrating yes, but at that point I wasn't too alarmed. Having made several long distance moves, I understand these things happen and why I opted for the best zero deducible insurance coverage offered. After thoroughly documenting everything with photos, receipts and descriptions, I submitted a claim for 16 items totaling $3,200. The claims adjuster upon learning that I had the damaged items repaired and discarded the broken ones immediately called out a excerpt from their terms of service policy stating that "they have the right to inspect and repair damaged articles". A clause they used to absolve themselves of fair payment despite the indisputable visual evidence. Upon going back & forth with the adjuster, the contradictory feedback made it clear to me they had no intention of accepting responsibility citing "we didn't have the opportunity to inspect". Here are just 2 of the many aforementioned contradictions: * 3 of the denied items claimed were observed and noted by the crew chief of the delivery team which to me checks the inspection box. * They did cover 3 items for $665 based solely on photo documentation with no inspection requested. Yet inspection was their sole basis for denying the majority of the claim. With moving and storage, I spent over 40K with this company. They used a buried gray area policy with arbitrary application to save $2,300 from their bottom line. And if this all sounds like just one disgruntled customer going on a rant, check out the 100+ 1 star google reviews and 2 star Yelp rating. That should speak volumes about the integrity of Wheaton Worldwide. Do your due diligence to find a reputable moving company that will treat your belongings with the care they deserve and you with respect. read more

Hi Bryan,You did 2 moves for us. The first move was June 20th 2021 to a temporary rental home which was very near the house we had sold. If you remember, your company misplaced one of the trucks  with our belongings. I believe it took at least a week for it to turn up in our drive way. During our stay in the rental we only opened necessities. Furniture was stored on 3rd fl, bedroom 3, garage and coach house. All boxes were stored in basement. I have no idea what what was broken or damaged during that move, because I had no access.I do know sofas were not torn, green chairs not damaged, breakfront was fine. Dealing with our move from 22 Orchard St. to 1503 Burr Ridge  Club has been a horrendous experience. The amount of damage to our belongings, not to mention the rough treatment to the 1503 home has been very upsetting.  The front door was bashed so badly the jam  is out of wack and we stuck towels in it to keep cold out. I did call you as I discovered damage to furniture.The form you sent me to fill out was absurd. We are dealing with high end goods and irreplaceable antiques. I have not even bothered to list the innumerable objects that were just thrown out because I couldn't deal with it.  I couldn't fit the information on "your form". I sent you photos and detailed descriptions of items and damage that was far more detailed. For you to say you looked at photos online and my furniture was already damaged is a crazy lie. Realtors who spent time in the house during the selling process can attest to that. Plus plenty of friends who have been in our home multiple times.  Also, the 2 other ladies who packed with me will confirm the condition of my belongings . These ladies also packed with me and we did so very carefully as I care about our belongings. My husband and I have worked hard to  collect what we have. The attachment contains the important pieces that must be repaired  or compensated for. I realize it has taken me time to do this.  However, we have had many issues this past year that had to be dealt with first. My brother unexpectedly died, we had illness in our family and much more I don't feel I need to explain to you. You do realize we paid you approximately $18,000.  in a 7 month period? You do realize each move was less than 10 minutes away? I have not made any problems for you. All I am asking is for you to have furniture and upholstered  items repaired.  Your .30 per lb is absurd. I will not ask for compensation for trashed antique figurines and large vases, plus numerous other fragile items. I am sure you have access to quality furniture repair people to repair our belongings and the front door in our current home. Please be an honorable businessman and do the right thing.Please contact me and let's get this taken care of as soon as possible. This is what I received in return.       From the time of your move, which was 12/1/21, per Illinois law, you had 90 days to file your completed claim. Also, per Illinois law, your goods were released at $0.30 per lb. per article and you chose not to take out any additional coverage for your move. Items that were packed in a box by you are not covered. We are willing to touch up the dining room table and clock. Items that have been previously damaged and repaired with glue or tape, we will not pay to repair. Lastly, our claims department investigated all of the damage from your pictures and  we have found that there are items that were in photographs on your real estate listing for Hinsdale home that had visible existing damage then. Lastly, without a completed claim form, there will be no further correspondence regarding this matter.  How would you feel if this happened to you. If you are moving, please do not use Myers Moving Co. How would you react if this happened to you? If you are planning to move, stay away from Myers Moving Company. These folks are the best! I have used them three times in the last six months -- once to move things out of my house to stage it to sell, once to move my possessions from my 8-room house to a new location, and once, a month later, to put furniture in its final spot. All the men who came out were experienced, professional, courteous and kind. They worked in a focused and diligent way. My multiple price estimates were clearly communicated and ended up be very accurate. And Brian came out to do an on-site estimate for the big move, and provided advice on how to prepare. Other companies I contacted required me to do all the work online, no human interaction, listing all furniture and number of boxes room-by-room. During the 8-hour full-house move, there was minor damage to two pieces of wood furniture. Afterwards Meyers sent out a company to repair the damage on site. I especially appreciated that the company is built around human contact rather than technology. Special shout out to Amy, who usually answers the phone and handles scheduling. We hired Wm. Meyers Movers for our recent move from Chicago to the north suburbs. We couldn't have been more pleased! The process was very simple and easy. We quoted out our move with them and two other movers. Their quote came in between the other two movers, and we initially tried to hire the less expensive movers, but the other company NEVER picked up the phone or returned our messages, so we decided to go with Wm. Meyers. Their quote wasn't that much more and we were impressed by their professionalism, follow-up and open communication. They ensured we had the proper city permits in place ahead of time so we had parking blocked off for their truck the day of our move. We ended up moving during the winter snow storm that kicked off the polar vortex at the end of January. It was the worst day to move and they were pros! We had pre-packed most of our things so they were able to move us out of our 2nd floor, 1-bedroom condo into our house in a little over three hours. They even came prepared with shovels to helps us clear out the snow as it fell down. They came in below their initial quote, nothing was broken and the three men who moved us were courteous and efficient. We will certainly hire them again to help us move a few larger furniture pieces we left behind in our condo until it sells. read more

For starters, because the company is based in Itasca I feel the need to mention that the company will do moves here in Chicago. My husband and I used Meyer's movers based on recommendations from some family members. Our move wasn't a long haul, in fact we only moved 4 miles. The sales consultant who did our in person estimate was very personable, honest and more than willing to answer any questions. I'd sum up the movers (at least the 3 that we met) as being efficient, professional and friendly. We had Meyers pack for us and take care of the actual moving. The guys came out to pack on a Thursday and came back to move us on a Saturday. I really only have 1 complaint. 1 of the packers seemed to overlook some of our belongings. We found items left in a small corner cabinet and in the drawer beneath the oven. Upon returning to the old apartment today I found a few more small items. There was only 1 casualty, a torchiere lamp. Apparently those types of lamps often break during a move (so we were told) due to design. The lamp wasn't that expensive, so we won't even bother to file a claim for it. 1 last thing, Meyers Movers is not cheap, so if you're looking for a bargain try someone else. read more

I sell over 100 houses every year and my clients usually ask me for a mover referral. There's so much that can go wrong with a move that I tend to be a bit nervous when making this type of referral. I've been using Meyers for at least 8 years. And I just completed by 3rd personal move with them yesterday. And I have to tell you it was as good as it gets. We have them pack, move and unpack. The guys they sent were pros. Not ex-con type guys I've experienced in the past. They were polite and hard-working. The icing on the cake was the 3 guys who helped us unpack. They were amazing. For example, they put together my tread mill, stepper, beds, etc. One of the guys and I unpacked and put away my wine glasses (all 60+ of them) in record speed. Now, it wasn't cheap, but it was a good value and a great luxury on a day that could be your most stressful The guy who sells the service is Brian Carlson. He's been with Meyers for years and goes out of his way to earn your business for life. All in, these guys are very good at what they do. I don't know of better. read more

I have to say that I've never experienced quite the level of poor service as I received from Wm. Meyers Movers. The movers were rude, careless, slow, and, in my opinion, unfit for the job. And, at least one of them was a thief. Immediately upon arriving (late), one of the movers said "who's brilliant idea was it to put us here today" and made a motion of shooting himself in the head. This was the first of several snide remarks made throughout the day. They commented repeatedly about how much wine I had, stating once that I could just drink one of my "hundred bottles of wine" at the end of the day to get over the move. They asked me "who needs this many coffee cups?" While unpacking some boxes at the end of the day, one mover asked another where to put some items and the other said, "just throw it on the floor - what do we care." I was also told it should be "illegal" for me to own my own massage chair. These are just some examples of the repeated snide and rude comments I experienced during the day. I understand that accidents happen in any job, but the list of items damaged, broken or lost during this one move is overwhelming. They totally destroyed one round end table, pulling the top and trim totally off the table and scraping the sides so badly that all of the finish and some of the wood was removed. And, this was just one of more than a dozen items damaged or broken. Each time something broke, the response from the crew was "I don't know how that happened" followed by some excuse for why it wasn't their fault. At least one of the four movers smoked. Two of them spent much of the day out of breath and complaining about the stairs. I was a little surprised that this particular crew was scheduled for a move from a third-floor walk-up. Perhaps a more physically fit crew would have been able to get closer to finishing the work I thought I was getting when I asked for a pack-move-unpack quote. I had to disinfect every surface they touched. They used almost no floor protection and tracked every bit of mud and debris from outside through my home. They also never washed their hands any time they used the bathroom. The icing on the proverbial cake was when, at the end of the day, my property fell out of the pocket of one of the movers. It was a fairly inconsequential item but his response is what startled me. He simply stated that he had taken it and he hoped I didn't mind. He then shoved it back into his pocket. I, of course, have no way of knowing what else he (or any of the others) stole from me. And his laissez-faire attitude was more than I could stand. My daughter just paid less than one-third of what I paid to have her and her boyfriend's belongings moved from a first-floor walk-up into a third-floor walk-up. She had one glass broken and no other damage. Her movers were pleasant, courteous and fast. I wish my experience with Wm. Meyers Movers could have been similar to hers. read more

Crooks! This place moved our home several years ago. They over-charged and totally under estimated the truck space. Our buyers of our home were waiting to move in while these jokers took 6 hours longer than they said. When we FINALLY got to the new home they tipped over a huge media center crushing a dining room chair and damaging the table, and drywall of the new home. Wait... Don't worry... They cover you per pound...so a 4lb chair did not cover the wall damage. By the way... We had one of the sons on the crew.... And the owner (father) was just as much a jerk. They are idiots... I have used Wm. Meyers Movers 4 times over the last 7 years and they always do a great job. They show up clean, sober and work hard. The sales person, Brian is a good guy who gives a pretty good estimate of what the charges will be. One of the movers, John, I've had twice now. He noticed a broken leg on one of my dressers and immediately gathered wood glue, screws and a clamp from his personal tool box and fixed it like new. The only reason I am deducting a star is because I specifically brought all 3 movers into my house and showed them the valuable items that were of concern and needed special attention. One of the items broke. Also, they took my wife's jewelry box and flipped it upside down. There were rings and earrings all over and it was very time consuming to arrange again. One of the movers was there on his first day, so maybe he didn't understand my instructions. Overall: Wm. Meyers Movers does a good job for a fair price. read more

If there were a negative 2 stars, I would give it - unresolved BBB complaint on file. I have moved across country 5 times in the last 10 years and always used Arpin, had wonderful service and easy, clean moves. In my last move from Chicago back to the West Coast, I chose this local Arpin agent instead of my usual one. Brian - the sales guy - does a great song and dance. However, in reality, this agent overpacked boxes with paper to add to weight, added boxes to the billed box count that were not on the inventory, threw packing trash and a used cigarette container in my boxes. Upon arrival, I had 2 broken tables, a 2" tear in a brand new leather couch, a completely demolished lamp and a scratched dining room table - also new. On the inventory list, they stated extensive damage to new and/or undamaged furniture - some that was still wrapped from purchase! When I confronted them on the receiving end and took pictures of the new couch that was "rubbed and worn" (NOT) or the area rug that was "soiled" (perfectly clean), they refused to respond to calls, the driver refused to answer my questions and no one would take responsibility. These moves are billed directly to my employers. Although the moves are paid for by my employers, I am always concerned about cost and making sure things are itemized properly. They billed for unpacking services that were not requested nor performed, for crating of a TV that was not crated, for street permits that were not required since they loaded in the alley. This is the most dishonest moving agent I have ever worked with. It took me numerous calls and messages when they refused to call back to get a correct bill to my employer. I believe they feel they can get away with their practices because they are billing a 3rd party or that most movers are naive. I have never had to file a claim before nor a BBB complaint. I filed a $4000 claim against this agent and Arpin for damages - which was modest and took in depreciation - and was paid $900. The BBB complaint is unresolved as both this agent and Arpin never directly addressed the issues in the complaint. read more

My family and I cannot thank WM. Meyers Movers Inc. enough for their uncompromising quality of service. Despite being a Minnesota Vikings fan, three men pulled up in a Chicago Bears truck in front of my grandmother's apartment, and it was nothing but friendly and excellent customer service from the first interaction. All three movers were polite, professional and above all, understanding of the importance of my grandmother's belongings and their value. Every item they moved over to my grandmother's new apartment has a unique story and is special in some way, shape or form to her. The move was seamless and efficient and moved without a scratch! Most importantly for my family, it was stress free on my grandmother which was so very comforting to my mother and I during this process. I just used Meyers to move from Chicago to Hinsdale and they were awesome. Moving companies tend to be pretty shady- I have used 5-10 different ones over the years and they're usually either terrible at moving and destroy your walls or your stuff, or they do a fine job but then the movers try to shake you down for more money before, during and after the job. These guys were by far the most professional I have ever dealt with. The actual movers were very nice, normal guys and some of them had been with the company for 20+ years- I felt like they were very trustworthy. We had them pack everything the day before the move which made all the difference because they are able to pack things so well. Probably the best thing was that they came back a few days after the move to take away all the boxes which took up our entire garage, and the town wont take them. i did not realize how big of a help this was because in Chicago they will just take whatever you throw in the alley, whereas in the suburbs there are a lot more rules i guess.
