I was on a quick day trip to Leavenworth and saw Wok About Mongolian Grill and had to try it. My only experience with Mongolian grill is growing up in Seattle and LOOOOVING Chang's (RIP Seattle Chang's) but this place did not disappoint! They had all the usual protein options including beer brauts (yay regional !), amazing looking fresh veggies, and the recipe board included a Mongolian BBQ recipe that tasted just like my teen years at Chang's !! Soooo delicious! The price is by weight with sauces, at $18.95/ lb. For a town that survives on tourism, that price isn't horrible. You put the sauces in a separate bowl that they add when cooking. They don't let people add their own chili oil, you gotta tell the cooks your spicy level: mild, medium or hot. I did medium and it was perfect. Staff was so nice and their dining room is on the second level of their building so you get a beautiful view of the downtown area as you eat. I will def stop by the next time I am in town!

This past weekend, my friends and I decided to stop by Wok About Bar & Grill for some Mongolian barbecue. We were very excited as it's been a while since we've had Mongolian barbecue. Upon being seated, the waitress let us know the barbecue is $17.99/lb. Upon loading up our bowls, we were shocked at how heavy they were thus being about $35 a dish for a lunch meal. This made us wonder if the weight of the bowl was being included in the price since they weighed the food with the bowl. The food was good, but honestly was not worth the high price tag. Upon getting our bill, we noticed a 15% gratuity was already included on the bill but no one pointed that out to us and there was an additional tip line. Due to this, we almost tipped twice on the bill. We asked to split our checks and the waitress charged the wrong entrees to the wrong cards. Overall, I would not recommend this place as we spent about $45 each after tax and tip which is very expensive for a stir fry lunch and we were mischarged amongst our group so we had to work that out between ourselves.

Great view with outdoor seating. Our server was Patrick & he was very fun and really made our time there feel special. We didn't get food but got some drinks and enjoyed the patio

As many times as my wife and I have been to Leavenworth, inevitably there would come a time when German food wasn't going to cut it for dinner. One of those nights happened this last weekend. My wife was excited to try Wok About Mongolian Grill, and after mentioning it to the remainder of our party, the nine(!) of us headed upstairs and got ourselves on the waitlist. We were quoted 20 minutes, which was a little closer to 30, but with a group that size, I'm not terribly surprised. Our server was a little unprepared for our rowdy crowd, but he navigated our menu questions and drink orders with patience and professionalism. Once those were out of the way, our group migrated in small groups over to the buffet table to begin assembling our meals. The meats and veggies here are top notch, high quality proteins and produce, that are regularly restocked. The addition of beer bratwurst to the tasty tableau is a decidedly Leavenworth-y touch, although I abstained from adding it to my bowl (this time). Some of the oils and sauces I'm used to seeing at other Mongolian grills were MIA (lime juice, for example), but I was still able to concoct a spicy, tangy sauce that did the job nicely. My only real gripe with Wok About is their pricing. I'm used to Mongolian Grills being a one-price-for-all-you-can-eat affair, but this particular restaurant uses a pay by weight scheme. This means that your bill is a complete mystery until you've already handed over your bowls to the grill masters. It also means that you're effectively "punished" for certain, heavier ingredients (those with high water contents, like tofu and tomatoes), even though they're generally less expensive than the star of the show: the meat! And go easy on those noodles, or you'll be spending a *lot* more dough than you're ingesting! Our meal here ended up being the most expensive meal of our entire two-and-a-half day trip! Don't get me wrong, I'd definitely eat here again. Next time though, I might have to pack a pocket scale, just to make sure the bill doesn't weigh me down more than the carbs and calories!

Dinner & a view!

Judge me all you want, but Wok About Mongolian Grill might be one of my favorite spots to eat in Leavenworth! After a weekend of eating lots of cheese, brats, etc... We were ready to eat something else. I've always considered Wok About, but never stopped in. It sounded good and there was no wait, so it was a no-brainer! Wok About is very similar to any other Monogolian grill. You go through a build-your-own bar with meats, veggies, noodles, etc. Then at the end, you come up with your own sauce concoction for the chefs to grill your food in. I usually go with a variation of one of their recipes (which are always nicely printed right by the sauce bar for your convenience) with a little of my own flair. Since there was no line, we were watching our food be cooked in a matter of minutes and back to our table in no time. We decided to eat outside so we could look over the town and enjoy some live music from down below, which was super nice! The food was delicious. Not healthy by any means, but sometimes you just need some greasy noodles, ya know? We also ordered the barbecue pork with dipping sauces as an app, but they forgot it... I wasn't too bummed, because we were CRAZY full from our noodles. It wasn't on the bill, so it wasn't a problem in the end. I talked to a few locals during my trip who also noted this was one of their favorite spots in town - so, don't knock it till' you try it!

Wok About is a pretty good place for a family outing as evidenced by, well.. all the other families dining here when we went, including our own. Plenty of seating to go around and many of the tables I saw were accommodating between 4-6 people. Wok about is also something of dying breed. It is a like a buffet, not the greasy, cheap Chinese buffet we all know and sometimes love. Wok About features a BYOB style of dining. No not bring your own bottle (although that would be awesome, more on that in a bit). Nope, build your own bowl. You go down the line, with your bowl, filling it up with all the things you like - spinach, scallions, peppers, mushrooms, beef and much more. Be warned though, the bowls are by the pound and the price is listed before you start so be mindful. I'd suggest doing like me and carefully filling your bowl and aim for half a pound, as you'll inevitably go over. When you reach the end of the line, you hand your bowl over along with a sauce bowl of your creation to the chef and they wok it up in front of you. So I got a bowl, about a half a pound of noodles and vegetables, no meat because I wanted to tackle their well known ribs. My bowl was good, nothing amazing but good. Noodles were alright and the vegetables are all raw so they have to be cooked on the wok. Problem is the because they have to cook it so fast, not all the veggies soften so there is some inconsistency there. The sauce was very good though which seems to be what it's all about. The ribs were also pretty good. 5 is good for a single person, 7 for if you plan to share a couple. Good flavor but could be a bit more meaty and saucy. Drinks also get a thumbs up. The Grapefruit Collins was very good. As mentioned not Byob in the traditional sense, but there are plenty of drink options to choose from. Not a bad place to bring the family. A bit high and nicked in a few places but good. In our party we had people on the Keto diet and another who is gluten free, then there's me. So Wok About may be good to satisfy your groups dietary needs too or if you want an easy way to dine without a fuss over the menu.

Vegan stir-fry

My husband really loves the ribs here, and I get vegan stir-fry (although, it's cooked on the same grill as meat, so not truly vegan). Since you put it together yourself, I can tell you I'm great with flavors! But the ingredients are fresh and delicious. Our server was great, and we had a very nice meal.

Absolutely perfect. Ever So Gingerly Cocktail + Build your own stir fry.

Food was amazing, drink was too, but wow, the view was stunning. Nice waiter. Perfect date spot truly.

Our first buffet since covid. And it was very nice and organized. Food was refilled frequently and it looked and tasted very fresh. We sat on the patio and had a great view of town. My wok was very tasty ( a lil credit to me ) And the great thing is that you pay by weight so you can get as much or as lil as you want and pay accordingly. I recommend for those ready for buffet!!!

We were here on an off season time so I would highly recommend reservations. The menu is small which I love because I don't have to many items competing with each other to order. I decided to order a board as an appetizer with 2 meats, 2 cheeses, and a side. Huge happy dance with this one, the honey ricotta was amazing, deviled eggs huge smiles, burrata was perfect, salami and prosciutto beautiful. On this day they had two specials butternut squash ravioli and a sea bass. We chose the ravioli with added chicken, it had a good taste however did not compete with the other dishes (still did a happy dance with each bite). There is a kids menu, we had the fettuccine with chicken, good side for kids. They also have shrimp or just cheese fettuccine, pizza, and lasagna. Our main courses we had the eggplant parm, perfectly cooked with a side caprese salad. Mushroom and chicken fettuccine amazing flavors and a good portion. For desert we had the apple bread pudding, to die for, a cookie pie and chocolate mouse type dessert (I forgot their names), all very good. Highly recommend this place and as a family was listed #1 out of 5 places eaten here in Leavenworth.

We got seated at a table near the window, so we were able to get a good view of the lights outside. Our waitress was very nice and gave us the run down on the specials. We wish the bread and olive oil was complementary, but thats okay. We got a ceaser salad to share and then my husband got the rabbit ragu and I got the Bolognese con tagliatelle because I was sharing it with my daughter. Our waitress asked if we wanted pepper on our salad and we said yes, but she never came with it. We did get it on our pasta though! My dish was good, but wished I would have gotten my original dish I wanted, however waitress said it might have been too spicy for my kid. One funny thing that happened was another waiter accidentally brought another tables food to our table. He put a spaghetti in front of my daughter and when we said it was the wrong table, our daughter was so mad. To make up for it, the waiter had sent over some gelato for her! I thought that was a sweet gesture. Great italian food and lots of good drink options. We would definitely eat here again.

It is so lovely and secluded back there, I love it! Their drinks are to die for. I got the basil daisy and loved it, then moved onto the paloma which was great. They have fun glassware and a great bartender. I got the shrimp taco bowl last time I went and it was great! Came with chips too. Another time I got the bean enchiladas, which were pretty simple and seemed like they could be on the kids menu, but I honestly really liked them (fried cheese yum). I remember back in the day (could have been previous owners) where the chips and salsas were free, so bummer that it is a paid add on now- unless you get the salad. I found the service to be kind of slow and inattentive, but the servers were nice. It seems like a bunch of kids home for the summer working, so expectations weren't crazy high to begin with. They definitely came when we waved them over, so I guess that is all that matters.
