There's a Kiosk at the front door if you want to order food to go or you can order through their website. Rocky shrimp was listed on their hardcopy menu but they did not have that available. There are some cute decorations inside. We ordered dine-in Shanghai dumplings, pan fried pork dumpling, shrimp dumplings, scallion pancake, fried sesame balls, beef dry wok string bean entrée, and vegetable drunken noodles. The beef string bean entree came with white rice or brown rice and soft boiled egg, but not the noodle dish. The waitress forgot to ask us our rice preference, but she was able to change it to brown rice when she came with the entrees. She also forgot the egg, but brought it over after I asked for it. Overall, the food was good, but not perfect. First off no hot tea.. what kind of dim sum restaurant has no hot tea? It's absurd. The Shanghai dumplings was misleading, we thought they were soup dumplings. Should've known better. They were just regular steam buns with a meat filling. I would skip it next time. Pan Fried pork dumplings were good, although on the smaller side and not hot. Shrimp dumplings, were good, just like at any dim sum restaurant. Scallion pancakes were good for what it was, but not the best. Not many layers and not enough scallions. Came with its own dipping sauce. Fried sesame balls were good, just a little too oily and needed more filling. Not the perfect sesame ball but it will hit the spot if you like sesame balls. I liked both of the entrées, but the drunken noodles could've used a little bit more flavor. The egg that comes with the entrée is marinated. There were bottles on the table for a dumpling sauce and a hibachi sauce. Didn't like the hibachi sauce. The only hot sauce they had was a Sriracha. They are waiting for their alcohol license so no alcohol available right now. High chairs available. Changing table in women's bathroom. A little pricey, but it was nice to have more dim sum options than Wilmington. Might just have to make an excuse to come out to Southport more often. We gave Yummy House's dim sum menu a try during a vacation at Oak Island with mixed results. The scallion pancake, usually one of my favorites, was small, served barely warm, and uninspired. I can't recommend it or the egg rolls. Avoid the fried dumplings too. They were tiny and very, very over fried. If the kimchee dumplings had been a little larger and had not been so overcooked, I think they would have been excellent. However, as served, both the kimchee and pork dumplings were not very good. The pork buns were good, but the stars of the show were the steamed shrimp shumai and the sesame balls. They were both excellent. One server was handling the entire restaurant, which seems like a remodeled Hardee's. Overall Yummy House rates a definite OK. We have had a few take outs meals here. All have been very good up until last night, I decided to try the hibachi filet mignon. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The restaurant was nice, clean and well decorated. I was greeted when I entered the door. My server was very nice and efficient. I order the classic Chinese chicken and broccoli which came out steaming and very tasty. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and the chicken was tender and delicious. It came with a side of fried rice which was also very good and fresh. It was a bit pricier than your typical Chinese restaurant but worth it because of the quality. I stopped on here today for a late lunch. I was looking for something healthy and there wasn't anything matching that on the menu except a Tom yum soup. I ordered the one with chicken and shrimp for $10.00. The soup was larger than most Tom yum'a and was above average. There were only two shrimp though. I would order this again if I came back. The server was nice and they were having issues with their credit card machine, but she handled it professionally. The interior was really cute and it was clean. They had a lunch menu that ends at 3. Nothing on the menu looked too impressive, especially the poke bowls. I would be alittle wary of ordering raw salmon or tuna from a place that literally only serves it with poke bowls which I assume most people do not go there for. I will definitely come back to try some things when I am having a cheat day. They had some unique dim sum that I had not seen before. I have a feeling that most things were not prepared fresh and were bought and heated from a local Asian market. I asked if their kimchi was made in house and she said no. For a restaurant specializing in Korean food and to not make your own kimchi had me wonder if this was actually frozen foods heated up. I had originally driven past this place having low expectations, place looked of a Dennys but there was a small sign that said Yummy House. Now when we walked in I was blown away by the décor. We sat down, the waitress asked us if we wanted a beverage and then we ordered away! We got our food back fairly quick but I had already observed one thing. For classic freezer food we should not be charging such prices as $20 for some chicken. I enjoyed my food because you cannot go wrong with Sesame chicken. But my buddy did ask for no vegetables, and he still got them on his meal. Overall was a decent time but nothing impressive. The food was ok, the place looked nice but the exterior was rundown and so were some areas of the restaurant. More show than actual gold. Amazing service, walking in I didn't expect too much based on the exterior but when I walked in the place it was very nice, a hostess greeted us and sat us down. The scenery was very nice on the inside based on the photos I took. The waitress was very kind and got drinks and food very fast, took about 8 minutes,the food was good, I ordered the Yako noodles that were very tasty. They had a nice variety of drinks not to mention for adults a wine menu. The waitress offered us to go drinks that were complementary, she was very nice. Went for the first unsure because of the mixed reviews. The restaurant was pleasant and very clean. The service was excellent: attentive but not intrusive. Our special requests caused no problems abs were capable handled by the kitchen staff. I had shrimp Pad Thai and my friend the chicken katsu. We both were extremely pleased with the quality and quantity of the food and took more than half home. There was an entire chicken breast in the katsu and more than a half-dozen large shrimp in my Pad Thai. I just ate from the take home for lunch and the food was just as good on the second day. We did NOT have a good time. Yes, it was Valentine's Day and yes they were busier than normal. But the restaurant was not packed at all and several tables were open. The problem is there was 1 server for the entire building. While she was super sweet, she was super slow and overworked and not attentive at all. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive. She dropped it off and didn't come back for another 20 minutes. The general tsos chicken I ordered was so hard it hurt the roof of my mouth when I tried chewing it. My boyfriend ordered coconut curry and the taste of the broth alone was nauseating. Foodies dumping dream. Wanton sauce with a little sriracha sauce made this appetizer. For the main course we had General Tao's Chicken. It was pure breast meat, perfectly cooked with broccoli. The portion was enough for two, outstanding. The other dish was the Drunken Noddles and we added shrimp. The noddle were large and over cooked, but the (big shrimp) and veggies were on point. This was a waste of money! Having heard mixed reviews from our friends and neighbors, we thought we would give this a try. We will not be back. Our entire dinner was tasteless and gloppy. The scallion pancakes were soggy and so chewy that they were inedible. The Drunken Noodles were think, gloppy and tasteless. We ordered the Hot & Spicy Chicken and, while it was temperature hot, and loaded with red pepper spice, it had no taste at all. I honestly don't know how they made all of the vegetables in this dish completely tasteless. We spent over $60 for this meal.
