The ambiance was great, relaxing, and we were surprised at no wait time for our party of 7 but literally waited an hour and half before our food came out which was cold. EVERYTHING is tempura fried - Calamari appetizer contained mostly veggie tempura with few pieces of seafood, the seafood special with mussels literally contained 2 mussels and 2 pieces of shrimp, all tempura fried, just everything was not at the level it should have been based on pricing. I could understand if they were slammed with tables but the place was barely full at the time we visited which to say will be the last. read more

We were craving Asian food while at the beach and were thankful to find a place nearby. Even better than that, the food was great! We grabbed meals for takeout so can't say much about the service but had an easy experience overall. The inside had nice seating and definitely not a hole in the wall type of place. Let me start by saying the food here is very good. The food is not the problem. The waitstaff and time it took to get our food was the problem which unfortunately made for a very poor experience. The wait time and the staffs lack of attention towards their customer was such a problem that a couple next to us walked out because service was so bad. We just wanted to leave after waiting over an hour to get our food but couldn't because we had to try and track down our waitress who never came to check on us even once for refills or to even see how the food was when finally did get it. This place is great! We had a family lunch here. It was very quiet inside as well as nicely decorated and well kept. Our starters were great. Our main lunches were great. The orange chicken was really good, super crispy and such a fresh sauce. The coconut curry was really good. The chicken was also great and tasted really good with the sauce. My wife and I are frequent visitors to Oak Island and have wanted to try this place for a while but never got around to it. We decided to give it a try on Saturday. We were seated in the main room next to a very large party that were so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. We asked the woman who seated us if we could move seats and apparently that didn't make her happy. She rudely pointed to another room so we started walking in that direction, as we walked by an empty table my wife asked "here?" and the lady with attitude said "fine" and literally threw the menus on the table and walked away. It was so over the top unnecessarily rude that we decided we weren't going to give this place our money. We left and went to Indochine in Southport and had a great meal. read more

This week we ventured in for a quick look and to grab some delicious takeout. I'm looking forward to a return visit when I'll be able to sit down, relax, and enjoy a leisurely meal. Wow! Another outstanding Asian restaurant in the area, this one on OKI. Thai and Vine looks very unassuming from the outside, but quite nice on the inside with mostly booths and even cloth napkins. As soon as we sat down, the server was there to take our drink order from the very decent wine list. A limited number of beers are also available, including Thai Singha, and Japanese Sapporo and Asahi. The menu has many choices from appetizers to entrees and desserts. I chose the Chicken Cashew Nut with perfectly crisp vegetables and pineapple bits in a brown sauce. The chicken breast pieces were moist and tender - a delight to the palate. My friend ordered Garlic Pork and had the same reaction. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection! With no room for anything else, we packed up our leftovers to eat later at home. Horrible from service to food. Been there before when only customer and was good. This time do horrible will never return or recommend. Waited 10 minutes to be seated but nobody said I'll be with you shortly or acknowledge. People before and after us were seated immediately. Then we sat at tables long time and table sat after us were given water and acknowledged first that my daughter had to go request water. I ordered green curry and asked for pineapple to be added not only was there no pineapple there was no eggplant the main ingredient. The other dishes were dried out. Our dishes lacked any Thai pepper heat even though we asked for "Thai Hot" level of spice and there was very little Thai basil leaves or lime flavorings in the traditional dishes.
