Here's a real review for anybody who wants one. I'm 35, and my family and I growing up as been going to Wok Inn since I was 10 years old. I have seen this restaurant go through it all. I have never had a bad experience with them aside from a minor mistake on an order that happened once this passed year, BUT the management on duty was very fast and passionate about correct the mistake. That top of old school way of doing something isn't something you often see anymore. I don't mean just some manager working hard to fix a problem and send you on your way, but I mean in the context, demeanor, character and over all bearing and discipline to see something done right. Over the years I have come to adore the owners but I've never hesitated to speak my mind (respectfully though) on something I perceived to be not in tradition with their standards, which again is rare. ALL of their food, is just so incredibly delicious. I love the way it's prepared, I love that it's NEVER overcooked, I love that no matter what there is always a consistently high quality to everything that they do, whether you are eating in or ordering out. Eating in, is such a treat as well, they walk a very fine line of balance between not pestering you while you are eating and conversing with your company while always making sure you are attended to properly. They really set a very nice fine dining tone when you eat in. We ordered and it took an hour to deliver. I had ordered shrimp. I couldn't eat it as it was drenched in breading and grease. I picked off the breading trying to save the shrimp. I couldn't find the head. It was just parts of shrimp. My husband called and got our money back. This is a terrible restaurant that uses cheap ingredients to save money. The breading was thick and greasy. We don't encourage Anyone to spend money here. read more

WOK INN USED to have great food, then they sold the restaurant to their cook. I hope that the restaurant can read English, they definitely cannot speak it. At least the women answering the phones. As she is very very rude and hangs up on you. As I tried explaining how bad the chicken is getting. I never leave reviews but have to say this is really hit or miss. The chicken is very tough and over cooked most of the time, or (seems to be reheated a lot). I WENT TO WOK INN FOR 25 YEARS. I hate leaving poor reviews, but being honest is what I need to do. I'm visiting from out of state, so getting to eat things, I can't back home is what I look forward to... Almond Bonless Chicken is one of those things. So if I had just an average version I would probably think it was very good. Well this version from Wok Inn was probably the worst I've ever had...The oil they used to fry the chicken, needs to be changed. It has that burnt oil taste. The food is always spot on here. I have ordered from here for years. Their General Tso is the best around. I prefer getting the sauce on the side. It reheats way better that way! Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. They can make it in different spice levels too if you ask. read more

I have ordered from this place several times, and it's not close to my house. Tonight I ordered several items, total was $58. I picked up the order drove home took me about 45 minutes to get home. Checked the order and we were missing our shrimp fried rice. I called the restaurant they put me on hold and came back and said they checked the camera and that the cook 100% put the shrimp fried rice in the bag. I told them 100% it was not in the bag. And she kept saying 100% he put it in the bag over and over. I guess I am a liar, I just hung up out of frustration. I did not get a credit for the food I did not receive. I went to Wok Inn on Thursday, Sept 16 to place a carry out order of four eggrolls and A pint of shrimp chop Suey. You cannot go into the restaurant, they catch you at the door and you have to place the order outside. The person taking the order was very cold And very upset for some reason. When she totaled the bill, the four eggrolls and pint i've chop Suey cost $21 ! I know restaurants are hurting but I will never be going there ever again. See the attached pictures. all of three small pieces of shrimp and mostly rice which is cheap. I live only eight minutes from the restaurant and when I got home the eggrolls were actually cold so they must've been made earlier and sitting on a table somewhere. The person taking the order said that it has not changed ownership but I never saw her before and she said she owned the place. She then brought the order and put it on the table and said there you go and walked away not even a thank you. I have been going to this restaurant for at least 30 years and today was my last time. please see the pictures, you'll see what I mean. if I could give zero stars I would. Old restaurant almost typical food. The service was good. The food was ok just needed a little flavor . The same old combo soup egg drop or wonton , egg roll and entree. I had the pad Thai nice helping but could have used some salt. The egg roll was typical egg roll and same with the soup. The fortune cookie at the end had no crunch. The best part of the pad Thai was was the noodles those were cooked perfectly. Also the peanuts were crunchy not soggy like some I had elsewhere . read more

Extremely long waits for pick up, rude staff, zero customer service. Completely understand the Covid pandemic, however, they have no system in place for pickups. The absolute worst takeout service during covid. Waited for 30 minutes in the parking lot for pickup and canceled the order and went someplace else. I have been a customer since the 90's. I accidentally ordered from Wok Inn not realizing that the Chinese restaurant I meant to order at was called 1st Wok only a couple miles apart on a similar street. The food at Wok Inn was ok but it cost me $44.00 ...for Chinese carry out and I didn't receive a single fortune cookie . The portions were not that great. The same items at 1st Wok where I wished I had ordered from would have cost $18.00 and the portions are much larger and yes , we even received several fortune cookies thrown in the bag . ~Moral-of the story Double check the name &get a total price over the phone . The area where you go to pick up your food is way too small. When I got there there were three people crammed into a small space by the register. Considering this covid situation, that space needs to be made bigger. Honestly, simply the best Chinese food in Macomb County. Recently we have been trying other places, in fact it has been close to two years since we last had carry out from there (with covid there is no eat it currently). After a meal of General Tao's and Boneless Almond Chicken and Mongolian Beef (we couldn't decide so we split all three), I looked at my wife and said "It really is the best isn't it?" She readily agreed. It looks almost abandoned from the road and does not look like a restaurant but it is and it is simply the best Chinese in Macomb County-which the sign says it is per the Macomb Daily from sometime in the 1990's. read more

This spot is pretty spot on for carryout. I've only ordered takeout from here. The food is consistently good and they give you alot. It's well seasoned and they use real chicken and beef products. Unlike some other places around here. The reason I have four stara is that I would eat inside it just looks very dated and in need of a makeover. read more

Food was awful. Hot and sour soup was like a gooey gel and the egg foo young had some terrible sour possibly rotted vegetables in it. My daughter was afraid to eat the chicken. Plum sauce container looked to be years old and gross. Place was dirty. read more

Between the absolute lack if any kind of ambiance, no music or other diners so the place is quieter than a library, the soap scum film on the silverware and the fruit flies, I'll never again step foot in this place. I used to work for Wok Inn about 15 years ago. While my time there, I enjoyed every bit of it. The food was great, the atmosphere and crew was great. If I ever do come back to Michigan, this will be the first place I stop by for Chinese food. I still remember asking the owner, Joe, if he would teach me his secret General Tso sauce, but to no avail that I succeeded. I've been coming to Wok Inn since I was 4 years a old! Yummy food, reasonable prices, and wonderful owners! I have lots of great memories coming here with my grandparents. We moved away from Michigan over 25 years ago, but whenever we come for a visit we have to eat at Wok Inn. The owners still recognize my mom and I, even though I'm 34 years old now :)... They have memories of my family, and also of me running all around the restaurant when I was a little girl lol. I see that some folks think the decor is out-dated, but I LOVE IT... Yay! I'm their first review and I am not even from this town, let alone this state! West Coast for life! Anyway, this place is quite tasty. I have dined here twice and both times have been very enjoyable. Their egg rolls are delightful and the rolls they give you are A-MAZING!!!!!! If I wasn't trying to drop some poundage I would have prob had 4 of them, but I only ate half of one. As for the main dishes, they are quite good. I am not sure of the other chinese offerings in the area, but my company seems to prefer this place over other places. I have tried the Phad Thai, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and some other slimy chicken w/ veggies and it was all palatable. Service is great and portions are large. read more

This was my first time trying Wok Inn, mostly because we needed something quick delivered for lunch. We were surprised with how fast it arrived (15 minutes before the scheduled time), but the delivery driver was not very pleasant. We ordered the sweet & sour chicken, & crab wonton. The sauce for the chicken came in a folded to-go box and was spilling out the sides, & the sauce for the crab wontons was the same exact sauce (we thought it came with plum sauce). The chicken was very dry, and the wontons were very hard. Although it was decent enough to hit the spot, we probably won't order from here again. read more
