There were 3 booths for dining in but they were taken up by supply boxes, one of their kids was watching their tablet and the other booth had a child sleeping in it. I hadn't planned on eating there anyway. There was a customer there waiting for their meal. I asked him if he came here often and he said yes with no hesitation. He said the food was good. Ok. The woman behind the counter was very nice. I asked questions about the food, especially the ABC, Almond Boneless Chicken, a specialty in Michigan Chinese restaurants and she answered every question with pleasure. I ordered the ABC combo which consisted of chicken fried rice, almond boneless chicken, a chicken/pork egg roll & chicken flavored gravy. The price was reasonable. When I got home and opened the foam container there was so much food I couldn't believe it. Definitely worth the price. Now, how does it taste. The egg roll was a little different. Crunchy on the outside with a different consistency on the inside but tasty. I've never had a chicken/pork egg roll before. It was bad. I had asked for plain fried rice instead of chicken fried rice and that's what I got. It was a mountain of rice, enough for 3 or 4 people!! WOW!! There had to have been a least 10 pieces of crispy chicken with green onion pieces on top. Again, enough for 3 people. The gravy, though different to me was very good on top of the chicken and rice. This was an excellent meal. I ate this combo dinner for 3 days in a row and every day I ate it was a treat. Tasted like day one. Overall..... The Almond Boneless Chicken (ABC) combo meal was really good and tasty, all 3 days!! Despite the dingy environment, I'm going back to try something else. Maybe beef pepper steak this time. This is not really the typical lo mein kind of sauce that I was expecting. The dish was mostly noodles, chicken and sauce. There were three snow pods in the meal and two matchstick carrots. As I lifted the noodles, the whole bottom was swimming in that sweet hoisen sauce. This place has gotten some good reviews, so I may give them another try but definitely not ordering the lo mein any more.

I have been going here for as long as I can remember, I am 24 now and I'd say my family started coming to Wok Inn when I was about 6-7. This is my favorite restaurant and I continue to bring friends and family here because I love it so much and I hope others will too as well as being able to support a small business that I respect very much. Overall the atmosphere has never changed and it is a very nostalgic place for me too. I remember back in the day whenever my family would come for dinner Benjamin, the owners son, would come over to the table and say hi and we'd go over to the front room and play Pokemon until my dinner was ready haha. As for the food, what more can I say. It's always fantastic. My go to order is always the Hunan Chicken which is extremely good. As for the soup I will usually pick one of the three depending on what I feel like having: egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour. All 3 are very good and the crunchy noodles they give you to go along with it are very good. The egg rolls are also outstanding and be sure to try them with the hot mustard. The Chicken Lomein is also a very good dish as well as the general tso's chicken and the sweet and sour chicken. I usually only get Hunan though, it is that good. Overall, this is my favorite restaurant and plan on coming here for as long as I live in Michigan. One thing I really wish Joe (the owner) would do, however, is spruce up the exterior and building a little bit. This restaurant deserves much more and unfortunately appearance does mean alot and I feel like they have definitely lost many would be customers due to the poor landscaping and overall look of the building read more

Ok so I was looking around the reviews and I saw one that caught my attention by Rachael C. written 4 days ago, and honestly her review is very unfair and full of lies, I was there the day of New Years when the whole incident happened, first of all she said she paid over the phone, so how was she over charged? Whatever her total was exactly she knew it before she hung up the phone, when I was there waiting it was when she states "I went back for the 2nd time to get my order." Yes they got into a small argument but only because she came in furious about her order supposedly being wrong. In all honesty I think Rachael was to blame for what happened, and she's a liar, I know people like her all they do is cause a scene to get free food, I used to be in the food business and it would happen very often, but like everyone knows "the customer is always right even when they aren't". Honestly I come here to eat all the time whether I dine in or carry out, and yes sometimes they make simple mistakes, and who doesn't? we are all humans and no one is perfect, but never have i seen them make a big mistake like the one they are being accused of, that's a lot of food difference between $45 and $107 of food, but to sum all this up I just want to say that this place is awesome!! I love the food here!!! And like I said I eat here frequently, the food is always made fresh, never reheated! And not many places out there do that anymore because of cost! I hope that liar doesn't change your thoughts on this place, I would recommend it to everyone out there who likes/loves Chinese food!! Thanks!! read more

I work at wok inn dining . I started probably 2yrs ago looking for my first job when Joe and Diane kindly let me try out working there. They have been nothing but amazing people to me and other employees since I've worked here. They have great skills with the customers and are jokingly friendly with one another. It sucks to see people writing these bad reviews just because things didn't go as planned when they ordered food and made a mistake and dont want to blame anyone else but the owners of the place. We'll thats wrong these are two hard workers trying to give you people qaulity food to meet your needs and not serve low quality chicken or beef or whatever it is you prefer. They buy the best meat and seafood I've ever eaten. There's not one dish I can say I don't like . these people work for you guys and have been doing it for 30 yrs now I think the quality would be better than worse . so it wouldn't make sense to fall back in cooking and what not. It's also sad to see the yelp puts our best reviews at the bottom but when we ask why that it is that way way they say its set that way . but they casually ask for money to bring them to the top and what not like that's ok. It'd make more sense to be by date. Anyways besides the point no matter what review you guys read , don't let people judge for you on how good our restaurant is you be the judge you come eat and don't let other peoples experience ruin yours. All my family members absolutely hands down cannot find as tasteful , quality Chinese food as the Wok Inn in over 30 years !! If there is a bad review on the food , here I'm sorry but your either dogging them for own business gain or you ordered something new you wanted to try and wasn't your thing for most part Owners have been here since the beginning and have not wavered on the quality of food ! And yes I understand them ..I mean your in a Chinese restaurant right? A few items have altered somewhat but still the same great flavor . Loved the general Tsao chicken forever but like smaller pieces of meat , more zesty like they used to , they are to big . Go figure , not a bad thing but more of that great sauce taste on smaller cuts .. And I do agree on egg rolls being a tad bit smaller .. That's about it ! The service is usually good ... Not great , but still worth it ! Drink specials! Carry out is always accurate which we all do every month .. 5*. read more

After driving by this place for years and being too rushed to stop in, my husband finally brought me here for lunch. We had the Lo Mein with chicken and the Orange chicken with sesame. Hot and sour soup was our choice. Wonderful food! Talked with owner as she cleaned fresh beans for use in kitchen and found out the Lo Mein noodles were fresh delivered out of Chicago every week. No wonder they were so good. Also learned chicken was never frozen or pre cooked. Really makes me wish I had stopped in sooner. Looking forward to many more meals here! Researched Chinese cooking after leaving and found out that at home it is all about seasonal vegetables and fresh ingredients. Owner explained she preferred to serve her food straight from kitchen to table, as she worried a long sit in car would affect the quality of her recipes. As a cook I could definitely understand her concerns, but our left overs were still great the next day. We will be back! read more

I don't understand how anybody can have a bad experience here. This isn't PF Changs, and it isn't ever busy (except Christmas OMG the parking lot was crazy!). I always have a good experience when I go. When you get a dinner, it is served in courses, like an upscale restaurant. Soup, egg/spring roll, then your entree. The rice is authentic, and sticks together like REAL rice, so you can use chopsticks if you're into that. The menu isn't very organized, I will say, but that doesn't affect the quality of food. I always get sweet and sour chicken, and my boyfriend gets almond or sesame. They are always fantastic. The cooks make everything from scratch. There is a sign posted in front that states this, as it takes a while for food. Maybe too many people are used to GFS chinese places and not authentic food. The owners are very nice and very chinese! My wife and I use Groupon for dining a couple times a month. Wok Inn showed up on the app and we figured we would give it a try. We normally frequent another Chinese restaurant in the area. We ordered the dinner portion of both the Hunan and sesame chicken. The dinner started with the egg drop soup which unfortunately was in a small bowl because it was so good you wanted more. Up next we received the egg rolls which was cooked perfectly. Some restaurants the rolls drip with grease. The last of the order, the Hunan and sesame chicken was tender and very flavorful. I love Chinese Food! But rarely find good restaurant experiences.... Wok Inn is hands down my favorite! The food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. My favorite is the General Tsao Chicken.... but there are so many great dishes. I know longer live in the area so I've tried Many other places but still none live up to Wok Inn. Judging by the unrealistic amount of negative feedback on this page it looks like this page is being spammed like many others that I've read about on here. Me and my boyfriend have been together for over a year now and this was the first place he took me. He's been coming here since he was a kid. Still to this day its our regular spot. If you like full, perfectly cooked chunks of chicken with perfect, crunchy, and fresh vegetables, I suggest you go here. I always get the Hunan chicken and it is always fantastic. The owners are such nice people. Very welcoming. The rolls are always so soft and perfect, and the wonton soup is always fresh with a great amount of everything. Their fried noodles are SO good. I love Chinese food I've been going to wok inn for years now. I moved away I've tried several different Chinese places closer to my house and they just don't compare to wok inn! It is seriously DELIOUSSSS !!!!!! I don't care I live about 20- 25 minutes away but it's worth the drive! It's not overpriced Its So flavorful and the QUALITY is SUPURB ! very fresh vegetables NOT cheap meat and NOT greasy deep fried crap like other Chinese restaurants! Highly recommend ! i agree with tony g about rachel c. i was there when it all went down the man came in rushing and when the boy behind the cash register was trying to confirm the order he said yes to the phone number then yes to the 19 dishes being correct yet there were 4 people eating... and you pay 107$??? doesn't add up seems like a plan to try and ruin a business ran by kind people and try to steal money from others pockets. i mean it was new years maybe there new years resolution should be to become better people. there food is wonderful and service is great i couldnt be any happier with the service and amazing food. keep up the good work. read more

I have been a satisfied customer of Wok Inn Dining for 30 years. I have always found their food to be of the highest quality around. I especially like the spicy shrimp and vegetable stir fry. The egg rolls are made fresh daily and are very tasty. The owners have always been gracious hosts and are very sincere and polite. I have always found the restaurant cleanliness to be of the highest standard. The BEST Chinese food I ever had , I am really picky when is comes to eating Chinese food cause I dont like a lot of places ,the General Tso's Chicken (spicy) at Wok Inn is the BEST in the whole state of Michigan , There quality of the chicken Brest out does any other Chinese restaurant , way over panda express & PF Chain...All the other comments under really need to back and give this place another try ! ... I agree with Tony. I have been eating at Wok Inn for over 10 years and it continues to be my favorite Chinese restaurant anywhere. About 9 years ago I moved from Clinton Twp to St. Clair Shores and, when I want Chinese food, I still drive out to Wok Inn. The food is always made fresh, never frozen and reheated. Whether I dine in or carry out the owners and staff are very friendly. I've never had any issues with incorrect orders. I will continue to drive out to Clinton Twp to this restaurant until I can convince them to open one in St Clair Shores. read more

The servers are owners/family. Very authentic so be patient. The food is 10/10 times absolutely incredible. It is never not delicious. The dumplings, Rangoon's, fried rice, and chicken lo mein are all my top favorites. The owner buys fresh organic chicken breasts every day. You can tell it's good meat, never frozen. By far my favorite Chinese food in this zip code. The alcoholic drinks are very cheap $$$ as well so that's always good. Highly recommend this place for carry out or dine in. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for years and always supported their business, but after my last visit, I'm extremely disappointed. I politely asked for an extra set of silverware for my takeout, and the owner refused, saying it's "too expensive" and that I only ordered for one person. That's such a petty and disrespectful response to a loyal customer. It's sad to see how their attitude toward customers has changed -- I won't be coming back after this experience. read more

This is by far my favorite Chinese food restaurant. My family has been going here for over 10 years. The food is always fantastic and exceptional fresh. Usually get carry out and the food is always ready before I arrive. The lo mein is great, not like the spaghetti noodles you get at other Chinese food places. My friend and I were there New Year's Eve day around 2pm. I have never had a bad meal. I had the Sweet and Sour Chicken and it was delicious. Our waiter was new but as good as it gets. He was awesome. I did call before I went and asked if it was a normal day with a usual menu hoping to get the lunch special and I was told yes. It wasn't. I had seen a picture online that showed it to be a brownish sauce and just broccoli. It's possible that the review I saw was a special order, and I would've preferred the darker sauce but overall it was still a yummy dish!
