I ordered ahead on DoorDash, and the estimated time was accurate--no additional waiting, which was great and the receptionist was super friendly. Currently, you cannot dine, only pick up your order. Food: Whenever I order Chinese or Asian fusion, I have to get Egg Drop soup if it's on the menu. Here, it was just okay--nothing remarkable. I added soy sauce to enhance the flavor, but I wouldn't order it again. However, I'd love to try their Wonton soup next time. For dinner, I went with my go-to meal: Shrimp Egg Foo Young. Since moving into the area, ive been wanting to give this place a try. I had read some reviews saying they can make dishes gluten free, but it wasn't super specific. Finally, today,my husband and I were able to try them. They are take out only, no dine in. They can make 95% of the menu gluten free. I had to splurge on the orange chicken, as it's been ages since I've gotten to enjoy it. Omg! It was so delicious. We used to be able to sit down and eat here often, but now they say they have staffing issues and no longer seat people. That's a bit confusing since there always seem to be four people working the carry-out counter and another two or three bagging orders in the back. I'm not really sure what the staffing issue is. Good food, and plenty of food. The food itself self was probably at least 3.5 stars. Unfortunately the service over the phone and in person wasn't great. The place looks clean on the inside. The chow mein was pretty spicy for medium compared to rest of medium spice dishes and it was soupy rather than it being on dry side. I got a carry out the other night and it was NOT good. The soup was cold and the won ton soup had oil in it, didn't taste good. My eggrolls were burnt, the color of chocolate instead of golden brown like they should have been. They also had a funny taste to them. The almond chicken was good but the gravy was some kind of really thick goop that didn't taste good at all. The sweet and sour pork was good but there was way to much batter and little actual meat. This lady1 that spoke to me upon entry asked what I was taking pictures of. I told her I am taking pics for Yelp. The cashier woman said I got 2 the combo, verifying my order. I asked what it came with and she said the fried rice and egg roll. I told her no one had mentioned what the dinner combo was on the phone when I ordered it. The lady1 said I told her I wanted the dinner portion. I said I did want the dinner portion instead of the lunch portion. She said the dinner means a combo. I told her she never once mentioned the dinner was a combo ever on the phone at all. I explained to her that this was my first time coming here, so I was not at all familiar with their combos. She should've made that clear on the phone. The cashier said it was fine, she had to put the order back in. Let me preface that I live a half hour away as it is and that's why I called ahead. Now I have to wait another 10-15 minutes for them to correct the order since the older lady took the order. Luckily they got the food out to me in less than 10 minutes. I have a half hour to get home. The lady1 put me in a bad mood and left a bad taste in my mouth for this place already. The cashier woman was more pleasant to deal with, she's the only reason why I didn't let the rude lady1 get to me. The lady1 immediately made my experience worse. I don't think she should be dealing with the customers, personally. The general tso and the kung pao Chicken tastes the same as every other American Chinese takeout. The general tso is so heavily breaded, there are even pieces that don't even have a spec of chicken in them at all. The pieces that look big are mostly breading and half chicken. The only good part about the general tso is that the sauce is okay and nicely spiced. The kung pao is so bland and boring, tastes just like a plain soy sauce based stir fry. Mostly tasteless. The meat quality isn't great and there's a ton of tiny pieces but no real chunks of good meat. Plus the small pieces are fatty and stringy. They use better quality meat in the breaded General tso than in the dishes like kung pao, where you can actually see the chicken pieces, does that make any sense? The rude lady1 lost a point for bad behavior and poor personality. Another drop in starts since the food quality is sub-par. It's quite telling when my husband refuses to eat his meal. What a waste of time to try to eat all of the tiny pieces in my sis I'm confounded how this place has 4 1/2 star. The food is at most a two star. Unfortunately I'm here to update my review. Is the food at Cheng's still amazing? YES. Do I absolutely love everything I order? YES. Why the knock off of one star? We dined in last night and it wasn't what we expected. My bf and I have always gotten carry out from Cheng's. Judging by the many others who picked up carry out orders while we dined in, that's typically what others do as well. We wanted to dine in because we wanted to enjoy a date night out together. We walked in and no one was seating anyone so we just sat at a random booth. There's no menus at the tables so you have to wait for a server to stop by your table. That took about 10 minutes. YAY! The first waitress who helped us was so kind and helpful. She asked by boyfriend if he wanted to add soup and an egg roll (for a $1 more) and even though he declined, I thought the gesture was nice and sincere. The waitress who helped us the rest of the time? Not so much. We had to walk up to the drink area just to get a napkin and carry out box. We might as well refilled our drinks there as well (since no one walked by asking if we liked our meals, needed anything, etc.) The waitress had no problem rushing to our table to give us the bill, however. Did we have enough food to justify the $30 price tag? Yes. Was the service that good to justify a 20% tip? Nope. From now on we'll be getting carry out. read more

We ordered the shrimp egg foo young, shrimp fried rice, and veggie egg rolls. I was told the egg foo young was delicious. I tasted they gravy and will say it was some good gravy. The shrimp fired was fresh and steamy, with ample shrimp. Having to search for my shrimp in my shrimp fried rice is usually my biggest pet peeve of mine, but not with cheng's. Last week as I was on an adventure for Chinese Takeout, I wanted to find a new Chinese Restaurant to try. I am tired of some of the restaurants I've tried in the past, and the food was not all that good to me. Thank goodness for Yelp and reviews and pictures! I found this restaurant after reviewing and scrolling through the majority of the pictures. Plus, the restaurant wasn't too far from where I was grocery shopping, so I figured I would give it a try. I ordered the Pepper Steak lunch combination (fried rice and eggroll as the sides). I also ordered EggDrop soup (not pictured). The food tasted fresh and was really good! The eggroll was crunchy, and not soggy. And the EggDrop soup was surprisingly very good! Usually with EggDrop soup, there is a bland taste in my opinion, but this soup had flavor!
