My boyfriend and I took a chance eating here the other day and we were pleasantly surprised!! It's a little sketchy looking both inside and outside. However, we were craving Chinese food and this was the closest around so we figured we'd give it a chance. Honestly it wasn't bad, but it's definitely not the best Chinese food I've had. We ordered the general tso chicken and the lomaine noodles with chicken. My only complaint about the general tso chicken was that it was about 90% fried batter and 10% chicken. The flavor was there in the sauce, I just wish there was more chicken per bite. The lomaine was really good though. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food experience was a surprise. Had a brief visit to Cincinnati and stayed in the City of Saint Bernard Area. Based on some recommendations, I stopped in for take-out. I was so impressed by how friendly the staff was and they were more than accommodating when I had made some special preparation requests. This was absolutely the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I'm stumped by all the positive reviews. I had the general tso's and my wife had the orange chicken. Now I know they are similar dishes, but we could not tell them apart. The chicken was mostly gristle and breading with little actual meat. The "chicken" was drowning in sauce so it was all mushy and had no crispness. The fried rice had not veggies except a single piece of onion...not an exaggeration. The crab rangoons were the only decent thing we got. Egg rolls are an add on to a meal so the bill ended up being $25 for two entree's, two egg rolls, and an order of crab rangoons. Wok Inn, haha, get it? Because it sounds kind of like 'walk', and a 'wok' is a traditional chinese cooking instrument. ahhhhhh. how clever. I'm in a bit of a lunch restaurant desert where I work now, especially compared to when my office was downtown, so I'm looking for decent and quick places in driving distance to fill up at lunch. In that, the Wok Inn fits the bill. The food is just ok, not spectacular but plenty appetizing. I found the egg drop to be too creamy. The egg rolls on the other hand were very good. The owner said that they make theirs by hand, which is above and beyond for places in their price range. It is a family-owned place. The owner was also the hostess and my server, and I really need to commend her. She is wonderfully kind and really wants to see you enjoy your time there. The place has always been dead when i'm there, which I hope isn't generally indicative of how business is going. Far from gourmet, but as a cheap place to dash in for a sit-down lunch, it's right as rain. Oh, and I dig the plucky Chinese string music humming in the background. I think I paid $8 for all you can eat lunch buffet, including tax and tip and that's what will keep me coming back plate after plate. The food is hot, fresh, and yummy. The staff is courteous and helpful. The ambiance is what you would expect for a "one dollar sign." I don't see why you wouldn't try it out at least once! I was a little disappointed because my friend and I were the only people in the restaurant. This is always a deal-breaker for me because it makes you wonder why others are opting out. However, you may see it as full access to the buffet, so I'll chock it up to different strokes for different folks and give it an even three stars. read more

Great food! Best chinese food in the city. My baby puppy even loves it. Can't go wrong here, just choose at random off the menu and wait to be amazed! And by wait I mean don't wait, because the staff here is extremely attentive and the kitchen is faster than heck! Great place, great fun, and also, interestingly enough, a wonderful addition to what is one of the oldest hotels (built in 1780) in the great state of Ohio! I have not stayed at the Wok Inn yet, however it's certainly on my to do list the next time I am in the South Western Ohio region! Fast. Cheap. Edible. Pretty much what you would expect. Really only come for Lunch where you can fully maximize the inexpensive nature of this restaurant. They serve very generic Americanized Chinese food which you can get a-la-carte or buffet style. The cost is reflected in the lack of variety in their buffet and their lack of ambiance. Their Orange Chicken is great, and their General Tso's Chicken is a little sweet, and I really like it. Good vegetable Egg Foo Yung, too. Oh, and the Teriyaki Beef is good. Ok. This place doesn't look like anything special from the outside, or inside but the food was hit and excellent. The waitresses/cook were so welcoming and kind. There wasn't another single person eating in, but the phone rang multiple times while there and multiple people came in for take out. We had fried wontons, egg rolls, and soups. Best Chinese Food Ever! I have been ordering this restaurant's food for at least 22 years!! I started ordering their carry-out and delivery as a teenager and continued to now order it for my family and friends. I sincerely love and enjoy their food. I can always count on it being fresh, clean, tasty, hot food. One of the best things too is the excellent quality of their vegetables, chicken, and beef. There is no need to worry because they take excellent care of their food and their customers. They (luckily for us) deliver to the University area and is by far the best Chinese in the area. Although I now live in Georgia, I grew up in Cincinnati Ohio and have been a customer of Wok Inn since I was 8. I'm now 34, a transplant in a new, bigger city and I still find time to visit Wok Inn when I go home. Chinese food in Atlanta isn't bad but I yearn for Wok Inn's fried rice (no yellow food coloring, no peas or carrots), their Pad Thai (cooked in oil and not drenched in red sauce) or their Pepper Steak (juicy bits of beef with tons of green peppers and onions). I've read some of the comments here and I find it humorous that Wok Inn's food has been described as "Americanized Chinese food" as if it's a bad thing. I thoroughly enjoy the rice, sweet and sour chicken and shrimp with lobster sauce. If I were looking for sticky rice, jelly fish or chicken feet, I'd find a Chinatown and buy it there. As far as Chinese takeout is concerned, Wok Inn is the best "Americanized Chinese food" in Cincinnati. read more

I haven't eaten in the restaurant in a long time the last time I ate in there the food was very good and the portions are huge! The staff are all very nice people. Stop!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen these cheery reviews and I'm telling you I've been to a few in my day! First of all the last time I ate there was about 20 years ago, and couldn't remember why? So my sweet 16 and I frequent Asian restaurants quite a bit, and she was feeling a little under the weather, so the ancient "Won Ton soup" to the rescue! First of all, what i'm about to tell you is a series of decisions against my conscience! 1.When we walked in it was empty on a Friday night around 6pm (that's dinner time) the old saying is don't trust a skinny chef, but I say run out of an empty restaurant on a friday night! 2. The building was ice cold with fans on as if it was drying something, so we moved out of the way of fan. The waitress asked why we moved, so I said it's too cold! so she walks over to turn the thermostat and adjusted it up a little, but it was still cold! 3. The waitress was not informative at all! lacked english! we guessed our way through it! 4. Presentation is everything, and believe me when I tell you this, when our food showed up, my first instict was to run out! ( I should have!) a. our platters looked to be the same color and they were totally different Pad thai chicken and shrimp fried rice, they both were dark colored and old looking! Reheated leftovers!! they had a bad smell, but i kept thinking was too critical! NOT! b. the portion was small, as a matter of fact when we got home, we made bacon sandwhiches! 5.Lastly the bill was 24.00 for two small plates of semi warm food! I DIDN'T TIP! NOPE!
