Delicious they got it, the old school tastes not fast food! Nice portion several options for vegans too!

My favorite go to for comforting, healthier, flavorful, Chinese cuisine. Everything I've had here tastes soulful, whole, and fresh like homemade. Today I wanted a healthier option for dinner and as usual I'm never disappointed. The seasonal mix stir fry was piping hot freshly made and perfectly seasoned! they were cooked but still had slight crunch and substance. The mixed grains were a perfect match for these. The egg rolls are my guilty pleasure, so crispity (yes crisp-ity spellchecker) crunchy and comforting Mmmmm good. I had plenty left overs for tomorrow's lunch! I usually order by phone for pick up, but today I just walked in and ordered and in less than ten minutes I was walking out with my order. Sorry no pic of the Thai Tea, I slurped it down while waiting and reading the bio of the celebrity patrons on the wall. Anybody heard of Lil Litty? Anyway, ORDER from here when you want good, wholesome, flavor and comfort Chinese flair.

Absolutely love this place. I've never had anything gross from this place. The menu is like no other Chinese restaurant. It's like Chinese food infused with the hood and I absolutely love it. Thai tea be soooooooo delicious. My favorite item on the menus is Jerk Chicken Fried rice

Back then in like 2013/14 this place was good and fresh , it's always been over priced but it was KIND OF WORTH it back then even tho the woman taking orders came off very rude. Fast forward to 2024 ... service is still bad, they are still way too over priced $8 to add a meat is crazy. Not only that the fried rice was old ! Visibly and it taste old. $27 down the drain I will not be returning . It taste like they mixed old with new.

I really don't understand the bad reviews. We came in around 7:45 given the hours said they were open until 9. When we entered she said they would be closing at 8, but would still serve us. Given this is a local spot, not surprising they would close early if it's slow (just keep this in mind when ordering!) They had our to-go order ready in like 15, and everything was AMAZING!! The kung pao chicken and the fried rice were the highlights. Definitely worth checking out!

I've been coming to this location for over 10 years. The owners are so kind. The food is always delicious.

You'll definitely enjoy anything off the menu. Trust me. I've been coming here for over 10 years.

Yelp had this place on its list of recos, but there was something about this place that drew me in... ... and it turns out, I have actually been here before. But it has been about 30+yrs since, waaaaayyy before my Yelp years! (SIDE STORY: My GodMom and grandparents used to live a couple of blocks away from here and we often ordered food here back in the day.) They are incredibly popular. All their tables were occupied (granted, there were only three or four) but patrons coming through were non-stop. Staff were efficient as well because given the line (there were three people ahead of me) they got us outta there pretty quickly. I went for half white rice, half noods, black pepper chicken and fried chicken/wings. (NOTE: they packaged the wings separately so it doesn't get soggy from the black pepper sauce - love this!) They were good at providing disposable utensils as well as sauce packets. It didn't take long before I was on my way back to work. Noods had nice flavorful chew. Rice was fluffy. Fried chicken/wings was crispy and savory with a slight hint of sweet. But the black pepper chicken was AM.A.ZING!!! There was so much flavor packed in every bite and couldn't get enough of it! There wasn't a lot of fillers either, so that's a plus. Highly recommending this! FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 5. They give you enough for a second meal. PARKING: Lots of space shared with others. Not an issue. OVERALL: 4.5. I couldn't stop thinking about the black pepper chicken that I just had to come back the next day to have it again. Paired it with orange chicken on that second run. Not as great, but it is one of their more popular items. (Most people ahead of me ordered it and the pan got refilled during both visits.) So it was a delight coming through here again as it brought back tons of memories. I even remember making many stops at the laundromat next door. Also drove by my auntie's old house. Ahhhh, good times! I shall return! If only for the delicious black pepper chicken!

I…read morelooked up what was nearby and was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant just a short walk away. Sorry for the late review--I never seem to write them on the actual day of my visit! We arrived during lunch hours and discovered they offer lunch specials, which were surprisingly affordable. I have to admit, I'm usually skeptical of very inexpensive lunch specials because, as we say where I'm from, "sometimes cheap ends up being expensive." In other words, I worry that lower prices might mean lower quality. That was absolutely not the case here. The biggest surprise of the meal was the dan dan noodles. Wow. They were absolutely delicious--easily one of the highlights of the meal. Honestly, everything we ordered was very good. The service from our server, Carlos, was great, and another server who was blond and spoke Spanish was even more attentive. Both were very friendly and helpful. We were so hungry when we arrived that we completely missed the "Wait to be Seated" sign and almost walked halfway through the restaurant before realizing our mistake--our apologies for that! The restaurant itself feels cozy and welcoming. I visit this shopping area quite often, and I'm really glad I discovered Northern Cafe because I will definitely be coming back from time to time. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable lunch, I highly recommend trying their lunch specials. The quality of the food far exceeded my expectations, and I don't think you'll regret giving this place a try.

Went early to see if anything opened or if walk-in would be faster, surprisingly they actually had something come available sooner. We opted to sit inside and loved the ambiance. Food - amazing! I read reviews first and watched a couple IG videos so I knew a general idea of what we wanted to order. Glad the server suggested the orange chicken over the walnut shrimp when we were debating it. Chil wontons, absolutely a must get, different from DTF, not crazy spicy but full of flavor and richness. XO fatty noodles, perfect chewiness on the rolled noodles and the flavors were well balanced, we enjoyed them with a little chili paste and the orange chicken as the protein. Orange chicken, soooo much more flavorful than your average Panda Express orange chicken, good sized nuggets of chicken that were crispy and tender at the same time, and the zest livened it up. BBQ pork shank, our server did warn us it's not the easiest to eat, but it's worth it, hard to see cutting it off the bone because it was so dimly lite in the restaurant and your hands will get sticky but once you get chunks off the bone and your bao bun built it's delicious especially when you get the lacquered crispy skin yummm! Only skip for the night was the mango sticky rice. Much rather would've spend $8 on something else. The mango was tart/sour. The sticky rice was too wet and mushy. It was a pass for both of us. Service - our server was awesome. From greeting to end, he was the right amount of attentive and was super helpful with suggestions. Everyone from the food runner to the busser, they were all so nice. From getting us chili paste or to go containers, customer service was on point. Parking - love love that are a few parking spaces right out front. They're metered. But after 8pm it was free so perfect for us. Other than those spaces, there's a lot across the street if you want to risk it or also side streets parking too.

The walnut shrimp was pretty good, though it was served on a large bed of red cabbage that didn't really add anything to the dish. The Dan Dan noodles were my least favorite--they were very heavy, lacked the bold spice and depth of flavor I was expecting, and the sauce reminded me more of a Ragu-style meat sauce than a traditional Dan Dan noodle. That said, I know this place is also known for its cocktails, so it's possible that pairing the food with drinks would make for a better overall experience.
