Beef broccoli with orange chicken. Fried rice and chow mein
    Arjin L.

First time trying Chinese food out here in this city and I will be coming back! Very good service and fast which was very time convenient. The beef brocolli was so good and I came at the right time because they just finish cooking it! Orange chicken was flavorful especially with some Siracha on the side! Fried rice was perfectly cook and NOT soggy. Chow mein was mid, noodles are a bit thin and over cook so I recommend just getting double rice!!! THE VEGETABLE EGG ROLL ARE A MUST THO with the sweet and sour sauce on the side!!! Probably my favorite compare to my regular Chinese food spot. It was so crunchy and perfectly cook also. The vegetables inside wasn't soggy or overcook which u can just hear the crunch

Prices are still high, however they did give big portions with a free spring roll which made me happy, food is delicious and customer service is friendly which is rare from a chinese fast food place. Would recommend.

Chicken and potatoes and black pepper chicken. Not tasty.

This place is something else. I was there 8:15 and they had plenty of noodles. So I wanted noodles and steam rice and lady said No! Only one. When you are closing I mean are they going to recycle noodles tomorrow. I'm a very long time customer. That's just not nice. The owner seems like a bitch anyways, so maybe because that's just how she runs things too bad. I hope they see this review.

CASH ONLY! I was in the mood for Chinese chicken curry and although I have a few go-to's for this particular dish, I wanted to try out a new place. Found a place and jumped in the car and off I went! This wasn't the place I had in mind. Caught on a red light, I looked around and found it. So, eh, why not. It's exactly as it's described: EXPRESS. It is popular for one particular reason: $6.95 2-item combo plates. Although what they had to offer for that particular special, I came through for one reason only. Put in an order for the chicken curry. It didn't come with rice, so I went ahead and ordered a side of that as well as a couple of egg rolls. "To-go, please?" Packaging was good. The food was still hot when I got back 10 minutes later. Egg rolls were delicious and a bargain for a buck and change. The seasoning on the chicken curry was good, but felt could use a bit more curry. And not only were there too many fillers, they were sliced HUGE. (See attached picture.) This wasn't chicken curry: these were potatoes/onions/carrots curry with small cut chicken pieces. If I were to come back, I'll have to be around the area AND in the mood to try that bargain combo. Otherwise, future visits are doubtful.

Huge portions, but the taste of the noodles is not there. Orange chicken was also too sweet.

Food is not bad at all. Not feeling being charged extra for using debt or credit. And the line moves slowly so be prepared to wait

We arrived during lunch hours and discovered they offer lunch specials, which were surprisingly affordable. I have to admit, I'm usually skeptical of very inexpensive lunch specials because, as we say where I'm from, "sometimes cheap ends up being expensive." In other words, I worry that lower prices might mean lower quality. That was absolutely not the case here. The biggest surprise of the meal was the dan dan noodles. Wow. They were absolutely delicious--easily one of the highlights of the meal. Honestly, everything we ordered was very good. The service from our server, Carlos, was great, and another server who was blond and spoke Spanish was even more attentive. Both were very friendly and helpful. We were so hungry when we arrived that we completely missed the "Wait to be Seated" sign and almost walked halfway through the restaurant before realizing our mistake--our apologies for that! The restaurant itself feels cozy and welcoming. I visit this shopping area quite often, and I'm really glad I discovered Northern Cafe because I will definitely be coming back from time to time. If you're looking for a delicious and affordable lunch, I highly recommend trying their lunch specials. The quality of the food far exceeded my expectations, and I don't think you'll regret giving this place a try.

The spicy wings were incredibly hot, but not in a good way. Instead of having flavor, they just burned your mouth. The orange chicken was the biggest letdown. It tasted like it had been cooked in old grease, which gave it an unpleasant, stale flavor. The beef with broccoli was just average. It was edible, but nothing that would make us want to order it again. Overall, everyone in our group wasdisappointed with the food. It looked like a nice spot hidden where food is made fresh to go. I ordered the chicken Mushrooms and veggies and a wonton soup. I didn't realize they also advertise their daily specials on a board outside. My dish was very decent and not too salty. I would rather a not so salty dish so I can dose how much spicy sauce I want on it. The food came fairly quickly and I was back with lunch at my hotel in no time. Great service and easy ordering process. I really like the big board with the photos of each dish underlined with price. It makes it easy to choose the meal that you are craving for. So, give them a try. The portion is very generous! Bon appetit!

Chili oil did save the side soup. The omelette was well balanced in flavor. Cooked to perfection as the egg was very fluffy. Bok Choy is plain boiled. Located on the border of Torrance and Gardena, the restaurant, with its casual décor, is large enough for 60 guests when 2 large round party tables are included. The always-friendly staff brought the menu and water right away. For this visit, we ordered the following dishes (which started arriving within 10 minutes): Roast Duck: As expected, the duck skin was crispy, and the meat was plump, tender and nicely seasoned. Beef Chow Fun: The seasoning was super flavorful, and the glossy, but non-greasy sautéed thick rice noodles had a perfect texture. The beef pieces were tender, and the portion of bean sprouts was just right without overcrowding the dish. Wonton Soup Noodle: The thin noodles were perfectly al dente. The broth was light but flavorful. The wontons had nice thin wraps, and the fillings were well seasoned and with pleasantly firm consistence. We left the restaurant feeling 110% full and satisfied. Highly recommended.

We ordered the xiao long bao, broccoli beef, beef rolls, and chicken chow mein. The xiao long bao was excellent with a good amount of soup in each dumpling, and the beef rolls were probably my favorite item, especially dipped in a mix of black vinegar and soy sauce. The broccoli beef had a nice flavor, though I wished it had a little more meat. The chicken chow mein was the weakest dish for me: the noodle texture was great, but the overall flavor didn't stand out as much as I expected. Ordering was easy and the menu was very approachable thanks to the pictures. The restaurant is on the smaller side, which actually made it easier to get a server's attention when needed. Food also came out pretty quickly. The ambiance is straightforward and comfortable -- nothing fancy, just a solid neighborhood restaurant. Because it's small, you may have to wait if it gets busy, but tables seemed to turn over quickly thanks to the fast service. One practical tip: the portion sizes are bigger than they look.
