We had been eye balling this place every time we were at the mall because it has such a great ambiance! Nice fires going outside, romantically lit, so tonight my family gave it a try. We were a tad bit disappointed. To start we had a great server. 2nd I asked for a strawberry mojito (but only had raspberry) no big deal. The drink itself was okay. Kind of strong but I'm not complaining lol, the drink presentation was basic, and looked like it was quickly made. Didn't really have any fresh fruit (like one piece) Appetizers..... crab/cream cheese wontons were absolutely amazing Edamame same as everywhere Lettuce cups kinda small for the price. Only made 4 small cups with one spoon full each. It did lack flavor. Maybe a little spice? Cucumber salad I was very disappointed. I love cucumber salad because of the shredded cucumbers. These are just slices, second I enjoy the flavors this lacked a lot of flavor. (Taste like they were sliced and thrown with some vinegar and teriyaki and served) and it didn't even have crab like most places. But that's ok. Beef and broccoli was a bit salty. Pad thai lacked a little bit of flavor but was still good. Sweet and sour pork (big no go for me) I absolutely hate bell peppers and sweet meat lol but my family liked it. Although they were a tad bit over cooked as they were pretty hard to bite, and not braces friendly lol. They offered a 10% military discount thanks to the manager on duty. That was super sweet of him This place is very similar to pf changs but honestly I still prefer P.F. Changs. Oh and almost forgot I do wish the meals offered rice and soup for everyone. Paid extra for full meal but it only comes with one small bowl of rice and miso soup (for one) so for being a family style restaurant they should consider keeping it all family. read more

My family and I are new to the area and we're not well taken care of in today's visit. as a server, I know great customer service when I see it. when me and my mother got to our table, we had asked to start with some soups and had a few questions about the lunch menu. Our waitress Natalie made us feel unwelcome and her tone was a bit harsh. When my mom asked quietly if she could ask her a question ( if they did anything especially like singing for birthdays ((since it was my little brother's birthday)) she answered "what?!?". As a sever I would respond yes ma'am, or absolutely how can I help? The whole visit was pretty lame. We never got asked if our food was tasting OK if we needed a napkins. Guys, what happened today? I asked a friend to lunch and the ball was dropped from the get go. Our server was training someone so I can forgive some mistakes, because, we are human and everyone has bad days. This was bad, period! It took so long before we could order and my guest had two children that were hungry. Our plates were dirty upon arrival, my guest asked for soda water that never came. I had asked for lemons and ginger that never came. I have an allergy to horseradish and let the server know to alert the chef, and there was horseradish on my plate with my food so I couldn't eat it. The food runner dropped the food and rolled his eyes at a request for ponzu sauce and let us know that he would have to come back. Just partook of a dinner at this location and was very much, less than impressed. To begin with, I was dining alone tonight and upon walking into the front lobby, I had to wait several minutes before anybody even would talk to me. Despite being the dinner hour, this location was no busy. I have no idea where the host(s) was but I was reluctantly sat in an area by one of the servers. I ordered my meal, which consisted of edamame along with two rolls of sushi. I am nearly 6o years old and I must honestly say that these rolls had the most thin, skimpiest fish I have ever had of any sushi rolls in my life. Considering you pay anywhere from approximately $13-$19 per roll, along with the reputation of this restaurant chain, I was highly disappointed! Besides the food, or lack of it, the service could use significant improvement. If I had to give a grade for my server, he would get a "C", just barely. He provided me with significant wait times, lack of speedy delivery, lack of cleaning up finished plates and when I asked for more water, it was lukewarm with no ice whatsoever. For the cost of this meal, things need to be stepped up a little bit. Upon signing onto my yelp account for this review, it is not a surprise that this location has an average rating of 3.4 stars. Again, the good reputation of this restaurant chain deserves better! While our server was very good, we will likely not be returning due to the high cost of food and lacking quality. A meal for 2 came to $75 and that's without having any alcoholic beverages and also before tip. The sushi was nothing special and very limited in options on their menu. The Philadelphia roll didn't taste fresh and the crunch roll was not something I'd encourage anyone to consider ordering. The veggie dish we ordered was decent but tasted like something you'd get at a cheaper restaurant. The pricing for this restaurant is way too high and seems to be merely for the ambiance of the restaurant. I'd suggest saving your money and going to a cheaper Asian restaurant for the same quality or finding a fine dining restaurant that has quality food for the price you are paying. read more

Food was definitely worth it and you get a lot, literally can share one plate with somebody. Only down fall was we sat in the bar area and seemed like the 1 bartender was also the server. There was just 2 of us and literally were there fir about 2 hours total, from time we sat down, he took our drink order quickly, food order was a while as well as waiting for our food to come out. Eventually another guy showed up but seemed pretty occupied with the bigger party which were his friends so didn't help the bartender much. We love eating at Wokcano and have been coming to this location for a long time. I understand things are sensitive at the moment with COVID and we are all trying our best; however, today I went to pick up an order for my entire family and did not realize I forgot my mask at home until I was in the parking lot. BEFORE getting off my truck, I called the restaurant and asked them if they can either walk out my order or what else I can do since I forgot my mask. The employee that answered the phone said to just quickly go inside with my shirt over my mouth & that he'd let it slide, but then another employee came up to me yelling and making a scene. Again, I understand things are sensitive & I would have never walked in with out a mask or covering my mouth in some way, but she was yelling, telling me to get out & then walked into the kitchen & said something along the lines of, "there's this f*cking dude over there...". It was very upsetting & very unprofessional for her to be yelling up a storm. The manager came out & remained very calm. Eventually the person that helped me since the beginning walked out my order and was very kind. I think the female employee yelling up a storm could have handled everything differently. The service is top notch, the ambiance is pleasant and spacious doesn't feel like you're crammed in with everyone else, and the food is amazing. Beautiful architecture really laid back , upscale great service - Maddy . Had the fish with black bean sauce WOW !!!!!!! Than the pork dumplings and fried crap puffs WOW and WOW !!! One of the best meals I've had in a while in a really eclectic looking interesting restaurant it was really a neat atmosphere and PS I didn't use the fancy drink menu I ordered a mai tai and my husband and I agree maybe one of the best we've ever had we actually talked about the drink several times over dinner it was that good what a wonderful experience :)) read more

Trekked out to Valencia for a friends Birthday dinner, otherwise Wokcano's wouldn't be my top 10 choice. The quality of the food tasted fresh, but lacked significantly in flavor and taste. I was disappointed in the lack of seasoning in some of the dishes that were ordered and the limited variety of rolls. Overall, I don't find myself coming back here, unless I need to for an occasion. On September 26 at 3:00pm my mom went into the restaurant to pick up my order that was around $56. When she informed a man who worked their that she was their to pick up an order, in a very aggressive tone he told her to show identification and provide him with the order ID # because orders are being stolen. My mom kindly asked if this was a new procedure because we are regular customers and live in Stevenson ranch so we are always their and she was wondering if that was the case. The man became agitated and yelled at my mom in front of everyone telling her she can not take the food unless she showed ID, my mom of course felt the need to stand up for herself as she was being yelled at in front of everyone and she told him I don't appreciate your tone of voice first of all but let me get the order number, I than provided my mom with the order number but as soon as the manager came out he said can I help you, my mom than responded no it's okay I will talk to corporate for the way I am being treated and he said well you won't get through because they are closed and than she said I just don't appreciate that mans tone of voice and he's very unprofessional. The manager than proceeded to defend the man and began to tell her "no he was not rude!" even though he never saw my moms encounter with him. My mom explained to the manager that she feels like she was being racially discriminated against and that is when the manager lost control and yelled at my mom to "GET OUT!! Leave!! I'm calling the cops!!" and that is when he began to dial the cops. When my mom asked why , he didn't respond and immediately began to dial the phone. While he was dialing my mom said here talk to my daughter she will give you the order number, and he said "NO!" , my mom than waited outside for the police and that was when I approached my mom. I than got a notification on my phone from Uber eats that told me my order was canceled, I called wokcano and spoke to Sean who told me his manager Michael made him cancel my order. When the police arrived , we explained to him what just happened and the police apologized for their behavior and he explained to us that this isn't the first time because they immediately call them for any little situation. He than told us to contact corporate and better business bureau. I am very disappointed of this encounter I had with one of my favorite restaurants, I always recommend this place to my family and friends and I've always had my birthdays here but I felt like I got treated very unfairly today as well as my mom. No man should ever yell at a women who is simply asking a question, this is the customer service industry and if a simple question triggers you than you shouldn't be working with customers. I have enjoyed going here almost weekly for many years, and the food an service have always been excellent. Unfortunately, an experience I had last night was appalling. My friend and I were eating on the patio. We were served by a gentleman named Chase, who was very pleasant. Unfortunately, Chase had his mask pulled down the entire time he was assisting us. He also spent a lot of time talking to the tables behind us, where his friends were seated. No problem, except that at one point I smelled cigarette smoke and turned around in my chair, to see the people at the table behind us were smoking. My friend and I are both prone to lung issues and are sensitive to cigarette smoke, and of course are concerned with our respiratory health during this COVID-19 pandemic. Chase came over to us ask asked if we were ok with them smoking, We said, politely, that no we weren't. Chase went to speak to these people, and one lady seemed to understand and stepped away to have her cigarette. Another gentleman did not, and Chase didn't say anything further to him. My friend and I finished our drinks quickly so we could leave, and I went to the restroom. When I returned, my friend approached the manager on duty, and in a friendly and polite manner said "Hey, I have some concerns I'd like to bring to your attention". The manager turned to walk away at this point. Honestly, this was pretty shocking to us. My friend said "You really don't want to hear what I have to say?" and the gentleman turned around. Once he'd heard our concerns, he basically dismissed them and told us to leave. My friend asked for his name and he refused to give it, and repeated that we weren't welcome there anymore. I have this on video. We are not people that behave unreasonably or conduct ourselves in a rude way; my friend was entirely polite with this manager until he was rude and dismissive of his concerns. The behavior of these staff is highly concerning to me, because I manage an assisted living facility. I put my 90+ elderly residents at risk if I contract COVID-19, and was very sad to see our server not following mask policies as outlined by the department of public health. I and my own staff are subject to very strict policies, so I know how difficult they can be. However, they are necessary, for the health of the vulnerable populations in our community. I don't want this restaurant to do anything for us, or even to respond to this review, only that they review current safety guidelines and make sure their staff are following them. Ah Wokcano, the place you want to hate, but just keeps you coming back for more... Let me start with the pros: I've probably been to this location 10 times since it's opened. Every time the food is pretty much consistent as the last, and you never leave hungry. The food itself is high quality, from the rolls to the orange chicken, it is definitely higher end restaurant-quality food. It's no Trader Joe's Orange Chicken, let me tell you! I get this dish almost every time I come, and I don't think I've ever had a better dish of it. The price also reflects the quality as well, as the average dish can be between 20-25 on average, but enough for two people. The rolls are a little pricey as well, but for the quality, I have no issues. Now for the cons: This is more of a location specific issue, but there are occasions where we go 20-30 minutes without seeing our server. A few specific servers are usually like this when we come, but that doesn't stop us from coming. Frustrating, but it doesn't detract from the food very much. It has been a little better as of recently, but still noticeable, hence the 4 stars. If you're in the mood for this kind of food, it's definitely a place to go. I recently ordered this on Postmates as well, and the food was cooked perfectly, so think about ordering take out as well. read more
