This place caught our attention after attempting to go to multiple restaurants in the surrounding area but being unable to go due to requiring reservations only for large parties or long waits. We thought that we'd quickly get take out and bring it back to eat. Oh boy were we wrong. Our group had multiple separate orders that we all placed online through their QR code. We had to come up to the counter to ask as 15+ mins had passed and no one had gotten their orders yet. They send an email rather than call our your name when your order's done. They only started calling out names after we had to keep asking about our orders. Our orders started slowly trickling out one by one, but three of the people in our group had to wait 1+ hours for our orders. We kept asking and they'd keep saying that it wasn't ready and still being processed. We then found out that they forgot about our orders as they had our bags placed under other orders. I think they might need to revamp their whole ordering queue/process to be more efficient so they don't miss orders in the future. Anyways, we ended up getting our order after waiting for so long. They did give us two free desserts as compensation but I think next time, I would probably just skip out on this place. Flavor was better than I expected, prices are a bit high for what you get, and the wait and whole ordering process was a mess.

I always forget that's this is a quick food option when finding takeout. Each of the two times I patronized it just happens to be that I'm on Frankford and looking to kill two birds with one stone. As such I've order two different meals, the service is patient and quick. They offer outside seating and ordering. The food is okay and they offer decently healthy options but I've had better stir fry foods but I've never been unsatisfied.

This is for a delivery order via DoorDash. I love Honeygrow but I feel Wokworks has more options, plus you can customize. It was nice to have a Wokworks on Ridge in ShopRite, but they messed up the order one too many times. However this spot hits the spot every time! Just lost a star because the sauce for the chicken wings was a little too salty.

The food was amazing, so much so that I went home and tried to duplicate the dish. Not sure why they are called banana chocolate wonton, I liked the banana wontons, it wasn't too sweet. The peach tea was very good, I like the fact that it wasn't super sweet like most drinks nowadays. The lady that took my order was very pleasant as well as helpful. From what I see there is no eat in option only an order/pick up option. There's a menu on the wall to the left as well as a QRC scan bar, very convenient.

Take out spot in Philly open late night that was easy to order with short wait time. Reminded me of a food truck with two pink tables outside to eat. Expectations were low but the drunken noodles dish was delicious- crunchy broccoli, spiced noodles and juicy shrimp. At the bottom of the bowl, the sauce had a little off taste, it wasn't as spicy as I'm use to, but you can customize sauce levels and spice beforehand. Definitely recommend for a quick/late night bite. Place appeared clean.

Downgrading to a 3 star due to my extreme reaction , and the same thing that other diners mention --and no contact from the manager :( I so wanted to go back here . And so I have . And it's happened ever . Single . Time . I won't fall for it again , but just a shame because it's so good going down . If it were just me , I would say it was just a sensitive stomach , but I don't usually have this reaction, there is a literal shit -ton of oil at the bottom of the bowl when I finish , and many other reviews mention it to no Avail . A shame because it doesn't need anywhere near this amount of whatever oil they are drenching it to retain its flavors and textures .

Decent asian takeout food. We got the Drunken Noodles and Pad See Ew. They were really oily, but that was expected because they had spicy chili oil. It was a little bit too greasy for me, and the food didn't sit right in my stomach. Neither noodle dishes were that spicy. I have a low spice tolerance, and even I thought they weren't spicy at all. The shrimp in the Drunken Noodles were tender, and the chicken wasn't as tough as expected. Between the two, I liked the Drunken Noodles better because the sauce wasn't as strong. Wouldn't come out of my way for this, but if I was in the area and really wanted asian food, this would be a quick and convenient fix. I appreciate them using paper-based takeout containers and paper bags. The lid of the containers is still plastic and they offer plastic forks, but still better than an all plastic container.

Hands down, my favorite place for take out in the city! Wokworks is my go-to when I don't feel like cooking, because they offer large portions that are packed with fresh, quality ingredients. Their BYO Bowl option allows me to try different varieties which keeps me coming back! Their sauces are the cherry on top. My usual combination is Chili Garlic, Honey Garlic, and Szechuan Chili Oil to add the perfect kick that's not too spicy. The staff provides genuine customer service, always finding a way to connect with the customer, despite only offering delivery and pick-up services. Not only am I hooked on ordering Wokworks, but I got my friends hooked on it too! This spot is definitely a local gem that I highly recommend.

This was my first time eating wokworks and overall I enjoyed it. The general Tsos stir fry bowl was flavorful and plateful. I do wish there were more general tsos sauce, but I still really enjoyed it. I loved snacking on the crispy wonton chips throughout my meal! The crispy spring rolls were yummy and both the sauces for the spring rolls and the wonton chips were plentiful! The only item I did not really enjoy were the crispy vegetable dumplings. They were cooked well, but personally I did not like the flavor and would not order again. What I really enjoyed about the meal was there was plenty for leftovers, and even when I was finished it was not a heavy meal! I would definitely consider eating here again

As a student, there was Wokworks truck near me but I never had the chance to try it. When I lived in the Manayunk area, I never tried the Wokworks in the Shoprite. Now there's a Wokworks near my new home in Fishtown and I made a stance that I need to try it! First of all, the meat is halal. Win, win. The prices are great, typically $11-14 a bowl. I tried the Chili Garlic chicken! I am so glad the chicken was grilled breast as this is a healthier option. The bowls aren't drowning in sauce neither. There is ample veggies and meat accompanied by rice. I'd love to try the noodles next. Our online order was ready quickly and the window store front style is very unique! Dropping a star because both of us had a stomachache 30 minutes after eating it, although super impressed by the food. Can't 100% pinpoint the stomachache to Wokworks but it seems most probable. Nevertheless, this will be our go to spot for a quick lunch or dinner! Ramadan is coming up and this is perfect for iftaar, great flavors and nutritionally dense!

We got 3 entrees + 1 side: - pla nung manao (branzino) - tumis pla (fish curry) - gai yang naa por (half chicken) - yum makhua yao (eggplant) My favorite was the tumis pla and I was sad we didn't have leftovers to take home. The eggplant (I'm not always the biggest fan) was delicious - great texture and complexity of flavor. The food is a bit pricey (portions are quite small) but it all tastes delicious. We shared this among 4 adults and I left satisfied.

Let me tell y'all something…read more.. I came to Sampan tonight as a party of one, and apparently being alone is the restaurant equivalent of showing up to a cookout without bringing a side dish. Now before I start, let me say this: I'm a huge fan of the owner. Matter of fact, I used to work for him part-time years ago. So writing this review feels like having to tell your favorite aunt that her potato salad got raisins in it. Nobody wants to do it, but the truth is the truth. The night started with them seating me at the prep station bar in the corner. Cool. No problem. I like my peace. I like my solitude. I like pretending I'm a food critic with important opinions. What I don't like is sitting there so long waiting for service that I started considering applying for a job. Nobody greeted me. Nobody checked on me. Nobody even looked concerned that I was aging in real time. When someone finally came over, my place setting wasn't complete. No napkin. No proper setup. Just vibes and uncertainty. I decided to do the chef's tasting because I wanted the full experience. Big mistake. That tasting menu moved faster than a church announcement after the pastor says, "We're running out of time." My server never asked if I'd been there before. Never explained anything. Never guided me through the menu. He was talking so fast I felt like I was taking the SATs. The ceviche was okay. Not bad. Not great. It was there. The cheesesteak bao had less flavor than the hold music at PECO. And here's where things got ridiculous. The bao was greasy enough to lubricate a transmission, and I realized I didn't even have a napkin. Now I'm sitting there looking like I just changed the oil in my car. So I had to flag down the host and ask for a napkin. At this point, I'm wondering if I'm on a hidden-camera show. The rest of the tasting menu showed up one plate at a time, and honestly, most of it was so forgettable I can't remember if I ate it or imagined it. But then... Like an angel descending from heaven... That bronzino arrived. Baby. Listen. That bronzino and those string beans saved the entire evening. That fish walked in like Martin rescuing Gina from another bad decision. Perfectly cooked. Flavorful. Beautiful. For a brief moment, I thought Sampan had turned this thing around. The pork chop was pretty good too. Then the kimchi fried rice came out and said, "Not so fast." Now I've had this dish before, and I know what it's supposed to taste like. Tonight? Absolutely not. I took one bite and immediately started looking around for the version I ordered. It was so disappointing I sent it back. And when dessert time came, I was emotionally unavailable. I declined. Respectfully. I was done. Look, maybe they had an off night. Maybe the staff was overwhelmed. Maybe dining solo just isn't their thing. I don't know. What I do know is that one heroic bronzino shouldn't have to carry an entire restaurant on its back like LeBron in Cleveland. The fish did everything it could. It fought hard. It deserved better teammates. Unfortunately, one MVP performance couldn't save the game. For me, this is probably my last visit.

Fair warning - if you're approaching 40 like us, it's dark, it's loud, and you're sitting on top of people. It will be worth it. We had the double knot roll, spicy tuna roll, BAO, and some drinks. All 10/10. But the real star is the grilled meats. Specifically the scallion ribeye. We tried to take pictures of all of it but it was literally too dark in the restaurant. I would go back and just order ribeye skewers for the entire happy hour. They don't take happy hour reservations but get there early. It's the best.

We sat in a cozy corner booth and could easily hear each other although we could not read the menu or clearly see what we were eating the lighting is so dim (and consistent with the gothic theme). Now onto the food. We ordered 9 dishes (waiter suggested 8) and it was way too much for us and I'm a big eater! Edamame dumplings - 4/5, may be just me, but I don't really enjoy mushy fillings to my dumplings. The broth they came in was amazing though Tuna rice cracker - 4/5, not really a cracker, more like a crunchy mini loaf of rice topped with tuna and a slice of jalapeno - delicious and much more filling than what I was expecting. I only gave a 4 instead of 5/5 for taste because of the unexpected presentation of the "cracker" Shishito pepper small plate - 5*/5 outstanding! I could eat these all day they were so delicious. I'm not sure how they flavor these or what light crunchy sprinkles were on top of this very generous portion of peppers (I would estimate maybe 30 peppers?) I'd go back just for this dish Black cod fried rice - 3/5, I should know better that a miso black cod will be somewhat fishy, and with it spread in chunks throughout the fried rice I'd say this was my least favorite dish. Crispy brussels sprouts - 4/5, a solid offering, not much to write home about Crispy tofu - 3/5, not particularly unique although it sounded amazing when described - cubes of deep fried tofu drizzled with peanut sauce on a bed of cilantro pesto. But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. I'm not sure I'd go back as it is very dark in there and if I was seated on the first floor I'd not be able to have conversation with my dinner mates.

Fried chicken bites were a pretty big hit, and the pork buns were good as well - crispier than usual, but still really good. Toppoki was nice too, and have to say that calling it rice gnocchi is pretty smart to make it easier to understand outside the Asian POV. Kimchi paella was essentially kimchi fried rice, but tasty and filling, and the scrape off parts at the bottom, that's rice gold right there. I don't always eat rice, but when I do, I prefer slightly burnt at the bottom of a stone pot. Second visit, I went with fire chicken, which is tasty and has some kick. The sushi was fresh, and every dish we had was seasoned perfectly. They have seasonal tasting menus if you are more adventurous. The dishes are beautifully plated. Overall, this was a great experience and I'd definitely recommend Morimoto for a higher-end dinner in Philly, especially if you're a fan of TV chefs or just want a memorable sushi experience.

Solid place inside Reading Terminal Market! Would recommend and would get again…read more It can seem overwhelming at the choices. When you have foodie fomo, you want to try all of the delicious-sounding baos, but most people will be satisfied with 2-3. I opted for a combo platter, which came with 2 baos, 1 drink, and the option of wonton "chips" or boba ice cream. "A side of ice cream! How fun!" I thought. Rookie move. It was delicious, yes, even with my kids pilfering bites left and right. The problem is the market place is so crowded, a lot of the ice cream will melt by the time you've sat down. If you don't mind it a little melty, then no big deal. The baos are decent. It's a small operation, so the baos are clearly a mass-produced situation and so not as fluffy as you might get elsewhere where it could be steamed to order. Compared to other pre-made baos I've had, these were good. The fillings were ample and delicious. The pork belly special was fantastic and the Mongolian beef was great as well. The folks behind the counter were friendly and quick. Considering it's a major market in a major city, I'd call the prices very reasonable. Worth trying out!

Loved it! Albeit a bit trendy and pricey, it's a great snack option in reading market…read moreGot the kung pao tofu bun and it did not disappoint, stall is set up like an assembly line so my bao was ready literally within a minute Seating is cramped but that's what you can expect there all the time so I went outside to eat my food in peace This was SO good, I love having a decent vegan snack option around especially as someone who is always hunting for protein rich options and this delivered. They did not skimp on the tofu, will definitely be back
