Wolf Tree Brewing was the start and finish line for a cycling event that my husband participated in. Brilliant, I know! Earl was our server. He was friendly, knowledgeable, polite and patient which only enriched our experience here. We had him select our beer for our flight. We're not big IPA fans so that was about the only beer we asked him not to include. Every beer that he selected was a hit! Out of the five (we both agreed) the *St. Misbehavin was our favorite. It had clear notes of cinnamon and nutmeg and was a rich treat! Earl said it reminds him of a cookie. While I agree with that, it reminded me of Christmas in a glass. Mr. Wonderful had a burger, cole slaw and a big bowl of steamed mussels. He savored every last bite. We also shared a phenomenal beet salad. I ordered the sweet potato tacos and they were ridiculously good! Please, please send me the recipe! All in all we had a terrific experience and will be returning next year! This place is a little off the beaten path but I think it looks like an up-and-coming new neighborhood area. We went during the week right after they opened and most of us were seated outside. This has the order and pay at the counter model which works great because they give the choice of picking out your table. We initially sat outside but the wind was quite brisk this day so we ended up moving inside and they had the bay doors open so we felt a bit better about the whole social distancing. When we sat down we were the only ones inside other than the fully-masked staff. The food was good and the YS said the beer selection was good. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the nice neighborhood nearby. They have a little free library out front also a nice touch. I'll definitely be back and try it again. read more

A bit out of the way, a quiet setting near the community college and bike trail. Very attractive building and comfortable layout. Nice covered patio with picnic tables where your dog is welcome. Decent selection of tap beer, including a guest selection (pFriem when we were there.) The menu has a nice variety of pub food, all sounding good but not quite living up to expectations. The beef barbacoa torta was just not very substantial for $14 and ate more like a deli sandwich versus a torta. The soft pretzel was fine, warm and salty with a good beer cheese dip. We'll go back and give it another try. read more

Right away at the counter we were greeted by a super friendly worker. The recommendations on the food and beer were perfect! Went here for a bite and while road traveling the Oregon coast. The beer: Walked in and asked what IPAs they recommend. The girl working the counter responded "none."... that should have been the first sign that something was amiss. Then we asked which beers on the menu were from their brewery- there was only one but they said they were expecting more in a few weeks. The food: ordered the chicken tacos, the guacamole and the pork nachos. All of the food was TERRIBLE. The chips and guacamole was just prepackaged and plopped on a plate. The nachos were gross and the chicken tacos were flavorless with ice berg lettuce. It's too bad because the tap room is really nice and clean. Could be a great option if they redo their menu and make their own beer. read more

I have mixed reviews and I hope I'll be able to update and increase my stars. Maybe if they read the reviews they'll improve? The building is great. Parking is good. I've been 5 or 6 times. I haven't given up. The food is fine. Just fine. This place doesn't know if it wants to be a beer joint, coffee house, or tap house. I wish it could be all 3. Normally servers go out of their way to have friendly banter with customers, make suggestions and are generally friendly. Not here. They just take your order. They aren't rude, just not like regular servers. The biggest disappointment is the covid protocols. This place has such great potential for being a place you can go and feel safe. I didn't. The tables are distanced, there's great outdoor space and they have doors that could be opened. Instead, they don't set up the heaters, so it's too cold to be outside. They should set them up so those of us trying to be safe can visit and enjoy their outdoor space. The mask mandate doesn't exist here. I mean, people are eating and drinking, so it's hard. Crank up the heat! Open those doors. Fire up the fireplace. read more

Definitely a hidden gem! We found this spot by accident while exploring Newport, and ended up having a wonderful dinner here. It's up a road a bit, so it's out of the way from the main part of town - so it's quiet and has a great, relaxed atmosphere. The young lady working the bar the night we went was kind and attentive. She gave us some good suggestions for the beer flight and food choices. We had the tomato bisque soup and the mussels - both were absolutely delicious! The tomato bisque was bright with a lovely twist of lavender included in the flavor profile. The mussels were fresh and in a lovely broth made from beer. It was a quiet evening, so the chef, Dave, came out, and we had a wonderful chat about cooking. He even brought out a mushroom ramen soup that he was testing for us to try. Found this brewery driving up the Oregon Coast. What a great find! I had the Hippy Haze double IPA which is very good and my husband had the Kolsch which he really enjoyed. For lunch we had a beet salad which was amazing and tacos I had the veggie tacos and my husband had the beef tacos again both excellent. I highly recommend this place. 5 stars on the beer and that's what really matters. They lose a star for failing to publish a taplist. Seriously, If I'm going to burn a lot of gas to spend a lot of money on beer, I'd like to know what I would be getting. We've been there twice before. We would probably go more often if they published a taplist. Once, they were closed when their website said they were open. Both times we were there, the beer was excellent. What a hidden gem in Newport! I was sent to the Newport Samaritan hospital for my rotations and they provided housing at the apartments across the street from this Taproom. Finally decided to try it out one day after my shift, and I was pleasantly surprised! The quesadilla is delicious, there's a bit of a sweet kick from the candied jalapeno that almost makes you feel like you are eating brie cheese. The brewer's burger, however, is my favorite! This establishment is a taproom but Yelp does not have that for an option. In other words no food just some beer on tap, wine and cider choice as well. Great new building that will have a restaurant on the bottom floor. The taproom is upstairs. There is a fabulous biking trail right across from here. 25 miles of it and they race the coastal race every year so there will be some thirsty folks once they are off their bikes. We had their only IPA choice and it was 6.3 alcohol and had a solid flavor. They have their official brewer in Seal Rock about 5 miles from the taproom. I see a lot of potential at this location. They even have a new neighborhood that just popped up so folks can just walk home after they've had a brew or two. Only negative - no dogs allowed even though they serve no food. I'm betting you'll be able to get food to go from the new restaurant below and eat it at Wolftree though. read more

It was out of the way but still very nice. It is in an area where they are building either houses or shops. There is ample parking. They offer free popcorn and pretzels that you scoop for yourself. The beer was great and they didn't rush you out of the place. We stayed and played some games. Enjoyed beer and cider and some popcorn. The beer was tasty. No specific beer stood out for me. Um, I gave two stars because of their yummy cookies and the peache saison was pretty good. Finger Guns IPA seriously tastes like urine, and the rootstock ipa was slightly less pissy. We took one sip of the finger guns and brought it back up saying we couldn't drink it because it was so bad, then they charged us another $7 for a different beer we could tolerate. Let's just start this off like this, I've worked for a brewery over 13 years. I've been to over 50 breweries in Washington and over 20 breweries in Oregon. So what I can say is that I'm very experienced when it comes to breweries and knowing how restaurants are suppose to work. This isn't a restaurant, cool we know that! It's a taproom! Along the coast they are the only one that actually has a sign out by the street to let you know where the taproom is. Upon walking into the taproom got a fresh smell of cut wood, the staff was 100% friendly and what was better then that was that the beer was on point. We ordered the beer sampler and the bartender gave us all the beers. They have a question of the day going on and it felt very homey. I ended up getting a case of beer to go and a couple of bottles as well. I feel 100% okay with saying that Wolf Tree Taproom is the best brewery on the Oregon Coast. This was our road trip for 2017 and it was worth it due to visiting this place. If I ever come around this area again I would definitely stop by this place every time without a doubt. We were in line behind a lady that was ordering around 1:30 on March 12th. When it came to our turn they ignored us. They made eye contact with us several times, yet never acknowledged us. This taproom is located in an odd area and I think that the atmosphere area might have negatively affected my opinion. Even once we found the building we had to hunt for the actual taproom. It is located upstairs in what seems to be an otherwise unoccupied building. Just an odd feeling. Once we found it we were pleasantly greeted and told about the brewery and the beers. We ordered the taster tray and the beers were ok, but nothing really grabbed us and we didn't order anything more than the taster.
