Very disappointed with my experience at Wolf's Den Pizza. I paid almost $30 for a pizza that was basically half baked dough. The pizza was undercooked and not enjoyable at all. To make matters worse, trying to resolve the issue and get my money back was a complete hassle because no one would answer the phone. Customers shouldn't have to fight for a refund after receiving poor quality food. Definitely not worth the price or the frustration. read more

EPIC FAIL!! Living in a small area where sometimes on a Sunday, we like to order pizza. We normally eat at another pizza spot, due to their high volume tonight.... we opted to buy a pizza at a place that we USED to order from - WOLF'S DEN. Before the new owners this place was exceptional THE BEST PIZZA - classically, I order a white pizza - olive oil base, ricotta, mozzarella and I add tomatoes and spinach. - well, apparently, my stupid ass decided to get the same thing - what you ask... the orange color?... oh... thats just cheddar! Never in my lifetime have I ever heard of a white pizza with orange cheddar cheese that literally was absolutely the cheese that comes out of a can... you know the one you put on crackers? Otherwise... how would you make that design? WTF.... IS GOING ON HERE? DONT EAT HERE - EVEN the other pizaa... tastes all the way like crap! read more

It's very infrequent that I write a review while enduring it, but I feel I must spread the word, for the sake of the world. First, the one positive. The crust had potential. Good amount of yeast showed it was handmade. Due to a lack of off-season choices and several hungry kids we picked this, the closest restaurant. We should probably have left when they said they had no bathroom we could wash our hands in. We ordered a plain pie and a calzone. In the time we were waiting, we watched a customer come in to pick up their chicken Parmesan they ordered on the phone. The cashier told them "we are out of chicken. I realized after you ordered." The customer stood there perplexed. "Not anything I could do" the counter person said. "But now I have no food for my family" the customer said as she left. Nothing you could have done? Caller ID was rolled out in the US in 1988. You could have called the customer back. You could have made an eggplant parm or a pizza and given it to them on the house for your screwup. (A restaurant with almost no traffic should know if they don't have chicken.) Our pizza and calzone came about twenty minutes later. Back to that in a second. While we were eating, one of the staff went outside and smoked right by the open windows. So we got to eat our meal with cigarette smoke wafting in the air. Okay, the pizza. There is no way a pizza should come as utterly soaked in oil as this pizza. How much oil? We went through dozens of napkins blotting it off before we took this photo with a puddle of oil. While we were enduring our meal, a family came in and were told that the grill wasn't on. Alright so you don't have part of your restaurant working and no chicken. I'm glad you're open in the off season but that's two customers in 20 minutes that couldn't get what they wanted. The calzone benefited from a great crust and the mozzarella was nicely browned. Traditionally a calzone isn't bursting open but it was good. The pizza was not though, nearly impossible to eat for all the geese. When kids refuse to eat pizza, something is up. And this is a pizza place. This wasn't a meal we finished, so much as endured. read more

My go-to for greasy takeout pizza on MV. The BBQ chicken is the best. Thick crust, large pizzas. They are cheesy and greasy, what would you expect from nothing fancy - what you would expect from takeout pizza. I would not sit inside to eat, definitely takeout. read more

I don't know how this place stays in business. A pizzeria that can't make a pizza. They obviously don't have experienced people making the pizza. And definitely not worth $15 and an hour for a cheese pizza that taste like he soaked a sponge in grease and and sprinkled some stale cheese on top and threw it in the toaster oven, plus service wasn't even there felt like I was talking to a brick wall, and that degrading the brick wall. Seriously the best pizza on the island. Discovered this gem due to our late night ferry leaving the island and was mad that I waited until that moment to give it a try... The pizza (sausage and pepperoni) was so delicious and the crust was the best crust I have ever had (golden buttery goodness)! If you like pan pizza, that is the perfect size, you can't go wrong here. My entire family raved about it, including my 70 year old mother who normally just tolerates pizza (she ate several slices!). I won't be going anywhere else for pizza when I return to the Island. My one request- stay open until 9:30pm! read more

There aren't many options for pizza on island and things aren't open late, so Wolf's Den is a good option. We have gone here several times while on the vineyard for the weekend. The pizza is decent but nothing to write home about. It hits the spot when you want a quick takeout dinner at night. It's not very good reheated the next day though. The service is good... last year they overcooked our pizza and instead of just telling us it would be a few more minutes they have us free desserts, the extra crispy pizza, our order, and many apologies! read more

Ordered a steak bomb pizza later in the evening. Walked over waited for a bit for it to come out. Service wasn't the best the people in there were loud and acted like I wasn't there. The pizza was absolutely disgusting the cheese blend was so overpowering and was so overwhelmingly thick and not good. Forgive me I couldn't pin point the cheese I was tasting but it was abnormal for a pizza. I am not kidding this was the worst pizza I have ever eaten and I like pizza a lot. There wasn't any tomato sauce on it just way too many mushrooms. green peppers (only good item on it) and some of the most Disgusting shaved steak I've ever eaten. As an added bonus the shaved steak had a sharp piece of bone in it or gristle ooooh goodie. Not worth 15.99 for a small pizza. Not worth 5 dollars I crap you not. The best pizzas on the island! These guys are really creative with their flavors. Big Mac and Thai peanut chicken are really remarkable. Delicious pizza! We got a white pizza with ricotta cheese which was excellent although somewhat overdone. They burned our cheese pizza so told us they would remake it. To make up for the extra wait, they gave us two free slices of cake, which was much appreciated. Friendly customer service and a great local spot. read more

I like that the pan crust has a little oil, without being greasy. This causes a nice maillard reaction which adds to the flavor. That makes it one of the better everyman pies on the island. But... it seems every pizzeria on the island buys the same pre-packaged meat products which gives a strange incestious homogeneity to the pizza community here on the island. read more

We ordered pizzas from Gay Head and when we arrived in VH nothing was ready so we waiting for another 40 min went in and they said it still wasn't ready and would be 20 min more.. they weren't busy at all, the girls at the front were awful, completely RUDE. I've tried this pizza several times, always hoping for a better outcome. Unfortunately, this never happens. Ingredients are cheap, pizza "dough" definitely isn't made in house, likely pre-made and pre-cooked before it gets to the island, and despite tasteful toppings, it never tastes like anything. I ordered a chicken parm sub from wolfs den yesterday afternoon, the chicken was so dry and hard, I had to rip pieces off that were inedible. I can't believe this place doesn't have more love on Yelp. I got the sliced meatball hot parm sandwich and it was incredibly tasty. You can tell the sauce is made in-house, which is a huge change from most pizza places. Also, it's a year round restaurant which is a huge plus. Ordered the Wolf large.. the staff is good and the pizza is not anything like anyone else experience. Large pizza was burned on top and soggy on bottom. The cheese was completely dried up due to the top being so overcooked. The dough was over risen creating air pockets and a soggy base after cooking. Good pizza overall. The Big Mac pizza is worth checking out, but it's kind of weird.

The pizza was absolutely delicious. Hot and very quick. We ordered pepperoni and a white pizza with chicken, spinach and tomatoes. The white base (garlic and olive oil) could've used a little more flavor but the pizza was delicious none the less. Great crust. read more
