Joe allowed this and said I was the problem. I warn people to be careful; very unprofessional, insulting and not worth the money. Go to other places where at least it's clean and people are grateful for their customers, not only good deli food.

Today we came for lunch. A custom chicken cutlet and today's special the Saquon sizzle We couldn't complain a bit about either. The cashiers are so friendly and the ordering process is easy (once you get the hang of it) kiosks where you order and pay all in one. If you are getting a drink and chips, you have to pay separately at the cash register which is slightly inconvenient. Indoor and outdoor seating first come first serve but it does tend to turn over quickly. It can get crowded and the shopping area does get congested. There was a wait for the kiosk when we went today but the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. A lot to see and plenty to try. We will be back to sample more of the menu for sure.

However, I have serious concerns regarding their deli practices. Every time my dad brings home deli meats or cheeses, I am shocked and disgusted by how they are handled. Repeatedly, the staff leaves plastic on sliced deli items, leaving it up to customers to remove. This is not only unprofessional, but it's also unsafe and concerning from a health standpoint. PARKING The plaza shares parking with other businesses, and during peak hours, finding a spot can be a frustrating experience. ESTABLISHMENT The store itself is clean and well-stocked, with many hard-to-find specialty items. That said, the deli section is consistently mishandled. Leaving plastic on sliced meats and cheeses is a basic safety issue: ready-to-eat foods are required by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to be prepared and packaged in ways that prevent contamination. By not removing the plastic, the store is putting customers at risk of ingesting foreign materials and potentially violating food safety regulations. It is concerning that management expects customers to handle this themselves. Even if the reasoning is "the customer can remove it," this is not an acceptable practice. Proper food handling and hygiene are responsibilities of the business, not the buyer. Customers should never have to risk contamination just to enjoy deli products. OVERALL While I do enjoy the specialty food offerings here, the repeated negligence in deli safety makes it impossible for me to recommend this section of the store. Management should address this immediately by enforcing proper food handling protocols and removing all packaging before selling deli items. Until then, I cannot trust the safety of these products.

There are many type of prepared foods…read morehere from whitefish salad, to many different veggie salads, to fried fish, to chicken and turkey patties, to savory and sweet pastries. Many of the ready to eat offering s are prepared in the stores kitchen by authentic cooks representing the various regions. I am here an average of once a week to supplement any cooking we do at home with fresh made salads, such as their Korean Carrot salad, their seaweed salad, and especially the smoked turkey lunch meat, as I cannot find this type of smoked turkey in any local supermarket. My kids love their puff pastries stuffed with ground chicken or potatoes. These make for a great snack or quick breakfast before school. Out of all the same type stores in our region, and there are plenty of them, Holland tends to be the freshest, make the best food, and offer the highest quality best tasting prepared foods. They are not the cheapest but for me they offer the best value. At times some of the staff can be, let's say, less than pleasant (hence the star off), especially if you don't know what you want or they have a tough time communicating with non Russian speaking patrons. However, I would not be too intimidated to come here if you don't speak Russian. Most of the signs are in English and you can point to what you want and tell them how much (just like a deli in any supermarket). I know I do that at Asian markets where I don't speak the language. As for being too sensitive to some of their personality (again, not often, but I have experienced it too), try not to be too sensitive, you are here for the food, which is well worth it. At those times, just pretend you are in NYC. They have a nice bread section here. Many times the breads are still warm from baking- yum! Many breads get delivered from Brooklyn too, If the whole loaf of bread is not too warm, you can take it to the counter and they will gladly slice it for you. This store has extensive candy, desert, jarred and pickled veggies from around Eastern Europe as well as farmers cheeses and European juices. All in all, please don't be intimidated to come here. If you have a difficult time with the language, ask for one of the managers and have them assist you. You will not regret the quality of foods offered here and you will most likely!
