We got married here on 11/11 and it was the perfect day. The weather was beautiful, and the staff made the ceremony site and the reception area absolutely gorgeous. We were so lucky to find this place and we're confused why people wouldn't get married here because it has it all! The space is huge, the setting is amazing, and the event coordinator at the venue is super nice and easy to communicate with. Our entire wedding planning process here was seamless! I got married here. Haley was the sales manager and when we finalized everything, Haley was being promoted so our new sales manager "Tatianna" was really great and helpful. She was so nice and patient with us. Beautiful venue for a great price. My husband and I were having difficulty finding a venue because everywhere we looked wanted 10k or above (one wanted 50k) just for a wedding on a Wednesday with a guest limit under 50. This venue was great because we got a discount because it was on a weekday and another bonus was that the food was included. This was our 6th venue tour and my husband couldn't come because he already took too much time off of work so I did the venue tour myself and Haley assisted me and as soon as we finished I called my husband and I was ecstatic because I loved it so much and I said we have to do our wedding here and without even seeing the venue my husband said "just from your reaction and the other 5 venue tours we attended and had no luck, let's do it" The wedding went off easy and I had no stress other than 1 thing and it wasn't Tatiana's fault so I'm not blaming her. There was no AC in the bridal suite. I just had my hair done at noon and it was so hot in the bridal suite that my hair started to get frizzy and I was sweating so much. My husband's parents and my wedding party even came in at one point and they complained that it was too hot and stuffy. If the staff knew about the no AC part I wish they would of warned us, and set up fans because my hair and makeup was getting ruined because of how stuffy and hot it was but also my bridesmaids and my mom. My husband and I even had to wait a bit inside the bridal room because they don't have a grooms area and he was like wow, I know what you mean now that I'm sitting here. Also they need more lights in the room. My photographer and wedding coordinator even mentioned that because we were worried about the pictures. But the lack of AC in the bridal room was one of the major issues on my special day. I'm still pretty annoyed from that experience. If you do end up booking this venue just either bring fans, check if they have the AC fixed in that room, or be prepared to sweat in your wedding dress while you wait. We had the ceremony outside and the reception inside. The ceremony outside was perfect. The view and everything. The guest's loved it and the food was excellent. They said it was one of the most simple but romantic and gorgeous wedding they've ever been to! We didn't notice until guests told us but the staff never came to clear everyone's plates until the very last moment when we all had to pack up because our time was ending which was a bummer because the guest's wanted their plates removed so they would have more room at the table. Overall, I'm going to give this venue 4 stars. It would be 5 starts but the no AC in the Bridal Room is outrageous. All of us were sweating and our hair and everything. Just ridiculous!!! read more

I look forward to the rest of my 2012 Yelp journey and beyond. Thanks guys! For my 100th review, I was fortunate to play Wood Ranch Golf Club because they were hosting a fundraiser for local Simi Valley elementary schools that was open to the public. Other than having an invite from a member, this was going to be a rare opportunity for me and my friends to play this particular private course. A par 72, WRGC is a challenging course that consists of long par 5's, elevated tee boxes, and fast (but fair) greens. Definitely not one of the shortest courses locally but many of the holes requires golfers to think about their shots and not just employ the grip-it-and-rip-it philosophy. Many of the holes have dog-legs so players who can "shape" their shots can post a good score. The course is well maintained especially for the time of the year we played. The staff at WRGC was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We did not see a cart attendant during our entire round, which we though was peculiar, but being that it was the winter/early spring time that could have been the reason why. If you have the extra scratch to become a member at WRGC I would think it would be well worth the investment. If you're not as well off as others, like myself, and you have the opportunity to play here you will not be disappointed. Definitely one of the more challenging but fair courses I have played in Ventura County. My friends and I eagerly look forward to next years fundraiser! read more

Attended a wedding here which was done very well, the actual wedding was done on the golf course in front beautiful white gazebo. The staff had golf carts for anyone needing assistance getting to and from the wedding from the main club house. After the wedding there was a cocktail reception with a hosted wine and beer bar. In addition to the wine and beer guests could purchase cocktails for cash. I thought this was good as it keeps the heavy drinking to a minimum, those who want a hard drink can buy it. This salad, dinner and desert were all presented on beautiful china dishes. For being such a large wedding I thought they did a good job with food quality. There was a cigar area on the patio which I personally thought was a great little touch for those who enjoy cigars. My husband and i got married at Wood Ranch Golf Club on October 27th 2018! I highly recommend this venue for anyone who is planning a wedding! There were some specific things i was looking for in a venue and Wood Ranch offered everything i was looking for. I wanted an outdoor ceremony but an indoor reception and i was able to have that here! The ceremony site is just a quick walk over from the clubhouse where we had our reception! The ceremony site had a beautiful white gazebo with beautiful flowers all around it. The green grass could be seen from all around. There is also a beautiful lake right behind the gazebo which made it great for taking pictures. The reception area had a huge fireplace inside that was kept on all night which added a romantic feel to our wedding! Cocktail hour was held in the Fourier with an open bar and beautiful decorations. I was able to have everything i wanted at my reception. I am not a fan of cake so i wanted to do a different spin on deserts and i love donuts so they offered a donut wall option and it was a huge hit! The big windows in the reception area looked out over the golf course so my guests had an amazing view. They also let me do a sparkler exit which made me feel like a real life princess! I was so incredibly happy with how everything turned out. I can definitely say i was never a stressed out bride. The food was INCREDIBLE! We did the plated option and offered our guests three different menu items to choose from. The spinach and provolone stuffed chicken breast, the grilled atlantic salmon filet, and the pasta primavera (for all our vegetarian and vegan guests) everything tasted amazing! I would like to thank Nicole from Wood Ranch for being my point of contact throughout my wedding planning! She was an amazing help and answered all of my questions thoroughly. We hosted a private event here and highly recommend it! It is a beautiful space overlooking the greens. The private event director, Haley, was very organized and always responded to all of our questions promptly. She clearly documented all of our requests and everything was so smooth on the day of the event. The catering and bar staff were friendly and professional as well. Our guests loved the food that was served at the buffet. Overall, we are very happy that we chose this venue. We had a after-funeral reception at the country club this evening, and I would just like to say that the special events coordinator was just absolutely amazing (Jonet? Jonay?). I've read about all the good things written in magazines about Wood Ranch Golf Course, but once I was there, I was blown away. All the rain over the last month has made the golf course extremely green. The wedding gazebo overlooks the greens... I can't wait to see the professional pictures. It's a beautiful ceremony site. The indoor reception has full panoramic views of the grounds. The staff was more than willing to help. A grounds keeper offered us a ride on his golf cart with all our floral buckets down to the gazebo, it's a bit of a trek with heavy buckets filled with water. I'm not sure how many event coordinators there were, but I talked to at least three different staff members that knew exactly what was going on. My husband, daughter and I were asked by some dear friends to share in the Mother's Day brunch at this country club, and it was, hands down, the BEST buffet brunch we have ever been to.... and we've been to many in our day. They had one seating, or so it appeared that way, and they had every possible imaginable type of food, hot or cold, breakfast, brunch or lunch, along with a many delectable desserts. Whatever I tasted, it was delicious, and I just wish my stomach had more room for trying more than I did. It was sumptuous and fabulous. The service was excellent too; we wanted for nothing. Received an e-mail invitation to play here so I took full advantage of it and booked a early weekday tee time with my usual 3-some. This is a well-manicured, challenging course with a multitude of risk-reward options. The layout and design are interesting and will make club selection and strategy vital to reaching the greens. A few highlights: -Hole 1 doglegs right along tall trees then cuts left over a water hazard and a few bunkers. Beautiful. -The par 3 hole 13 is almost completely surrounded by water, not quite TPC Sawgrass 17 but very fun nonetheless. My tee shot hit one of the rocks between the water and the green and then bounced about 30 feet in the air, landing on the green about 5 feet from the hole. I'm telling you this is a fun course! -Hole 18 has a 3-tier "staircase" green. If you don't land your shot on the right tier, then you're going to have a very interesting first putt :) The (very cute) cart girl stopped by at least 3 times and brought along a huge selection of beers. Fat Tires for all of us! We paid about $65 each with a cart. Not sure how I got the invite though it probably came through some affiliated golf site (golflink maybe?). read more

Started the process with Aaron who has since left but he handed off my paperwork to Taylor who picked up without out a hitch and took care of me. The course is challenging and will test your skills. Wood Ranch hosted my works 10th Anniversary Celebration fundraising dinner two weeks ago. Their events staff, specifically Jessica, was amazing to work with, not only did they give us an amazing price but they were so accommodating to our many requests. On the day of our event, their setup team brought out extra tables for us and completely changed the floor plan for us at the last minute when we realized we were going to have several more guests attending. They allowed us to have full reign over the space as we transformed the front into a demo for our Christmas shoppe program. Needless to say, I would highly recommend Wood Ranch to any one and everyone looking to throw a special event. For weddings: Beautiful venue! Amazing scenery, amazing for pictures! Helpful list for vendor suggestions such as Skiff's Cakes!!! Staff interaction: Months before the wedding, very positive. However, I received a lot of last minute emails the week before my wedding which could have been avoided by reading documents properly. Constant communication was needed so if you are working while planning your wedding they do not alleviate stress. Day of: I would highly recommend that you use a coordinator who knows and will acknowledge who is on the contract and who the correct individuals are to check in with in case an incident arises. Would I trust the staff with my special day again, no. Furthermore, with your comments taken into account: You proved my point about not being the best place to plan with if you are working full time, not having information correct, and you did speak on the phone with the groom. "These meetings are available to schedule on Saturdays as well as after work as late as 6pm. Nicole was unable to come in for a meeting and wasn't available for phone calls, so we tried to square things away via email. For obvious reasons this isn't as convenient as in person and involves a lot of back and forth to make sure all the details are correct." You were already speaking to other wedding parties about it so, online makes no difference to me: "Day Of: As much as we would have liked to not discuss the details of the incident online, you have given us an unfavorable review and so now we must publicly explain the situation to defend ourselves against your harsh opinion." You proved the point that you did not handle the situation professionally, did not contain the situation in a professional manner, and involved people who were neither on the contract or needed involvement: "We approached the Bride's Father and let him know the situation before the Bridesmaid went back into the reception. He understood and was supportive of our decision. The Father of the Bride told the Groom and then the Groom told the bride before their individual photos." "This was not ideal and we wish the circumstances hadn't been this way, but we were in our right to do this and we waited until an appropriate time. To help alleviate the pain we extended the hosted bar an extra hour and apologized sincerely to the Couple. It was very unfortunate but we do NOT deserve this review." This was not an ideal circumstance and no one has said otherwise, you did have the right to handle the situation in which you did, but I am also entitled to give a review which stated both positive and negative comments. read more

Great course & great staff! Just moved to Simi couple months ago and was looking at local clubs to join. I called Wood Ranch to find out the info was directed to the membership director James Collis. What a guy! He immediately asked the right questions and scheduled a tour to view the facility. As soon as I got there I was welcomed by wonderful staff and was sent to James. What I thought was going to be a 15 minute tour ended up being a hour and a half of pure enjoyment. James introduced me to members as well as other staff members. The course was amazing! The greens had a great true color and fairways were alright. The only complaint was the driving range was next to the first tee which wasnt that big of a deal. The fairways looked tight but were kept up pretty good. Cant wait to play. The facilitys were awesome. There practice facilty was great. Theres a big bunker and chipping area to help out your short game. Mens locker room was what you expect. Very spacious but kind of outdated. Pro shop was great. All the stuff in there seemed good quality and cheaper then most golf stores. Also the golf pro in there was very attentive and seemed like a cool guy. Great sports bar with tvs and good menu. The main ball room seemed very plush. Looked like a great place to have a wedding reception. Everything was great! Now all I need to do is get the wifes approval. This is Simi Valley's only private golf course. This is probably the most challenging golf course in Simi Valley. It is private however. So, you have to be invited by a member to play. I've been fortunate to play a few times and the course always kicked my butt. This is such a tough course that the LPGA played here and then decided not to come back. Boo hoo. You can walk the course, which is also nice. However, you'll want to take a cart as the course will have you on your knees after the front 9. read more

Everything was absolutely beautiful; the ceremony site, the golf course and the reception area. Played today..course is lush except greens are punched yet no heads-up to players. NO navigation in carts; unfortunate and unacceptable for CC pricing. No map on card, no signs for players to find holes--they do not assist players to have a more succesful round. HOTday and NEED more water on the course rather than just on holes 5 and 13!! They did offer two small bottles of water and ice just not enough places to refill them. read more
