I know my Mom likes to come here for the pecan French toast but the service today was AWFUL! They took our order 30 minutes ago; have served tables who arrived AFTER US and we are STILL waiting for our food! Like how does the staff choose favorites in such a short amount of time?? As a black woman, it seems that the white patrons are given extra care whereas my Mom and I were forgotten... Even though they have good pancakes the service is lacking so I might suggest going elsewhere where they treat ALL customers the same regardless of what they look like. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's loud in here so be prepared to shout across the table if you decide to come here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I had lunch here today. I had the Danny omelet. It was hot and very good. The hash browns were cold and old. The scrapple was very over cooked. The service was pleasant and refilled coffee often.

I love being able to order breakfast all day. This diner is in a small strip mall. The menu is simple. Denny's is cheaper but I can't think of a Denny's in the DMV that has stellar service. The location was convenient. The server was friendly and checked on us frequently. The pancakes are huge. The hash browns were good. The grits could have been better but, it is easy to drown them in butter.

We discovered this place through the Support MoCo Restaurants FB group. Let me start by saying that I LOVE BREAKFAST! I was willing to drive half hour to find out- was it worth the drive. Currently the restaurant is only doing carry-out and curbside. The staff was so nice. In our first time fashion, we ordered a few breakfast items and few desserts. First, the Tater Tot Florentine- with hollandaise sauce on the side. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the tater tot on the bottom provided a good texture and vehicle to soak up tge yolk. Next, the Pecan Raisin Toast. It was different in a good way. The pecans were baked into the bread We also got sides of sausage patties and bacon. They did not disappoint. On to the homemade desserts: apple pie, pineapple cake, chocolate cake, blueberry cobbler. All delicious. We look forward to when the indoor dinner is opened to get the full experience.

I opened up my Yelp app to see if I had bookmarked anything nearby and T&J's Waffles was the first spot that popped up. I didn't know it was walk up location. I was all prepared to sit at a table and have breakfast, but I was already there and I wasn't leaving without food. My dad and I both ordered the classic breakfast platter. It came with two waffles, probably three eggs (we added cheese so that was extra), 4 slices of bacon, and 2 sausage links, and hash brown. The waffles were such a cute shape and they were delicious. I can't confirm this, but I imagine it's their own special batter. They were very generous with the scrambled eggs and I didn't even have to add salt & pepper. I like that there were two meat options. I just wish my bacon wasn't all stuck together to form one piece. Also, the bacon could've been cooked a little more. It was a little fatty and I like a little more crisp. The star of the show was the hash brown. It definitely seemed like it was homemade. This may have been my first time having a homemade hash brown. I'm not sure what they did to it, but here's my guess. It looks shredded potatoes, mixed with green onion, and maybe some cheese, that was packed like a patty & shallow fried. My goodness, I should've ordered some hashbrowns to go so I could eat them for the rest of the week. The platter was so good, I didn't even mind having to eat it in my car. Lol. It was filling & $16 well spent.

We started off with the salad. It is in a nice sized bowl with greens, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, green peppers and feta cheese, but it is drenched in dressing. I'll have to see if they can make the dressing optional the next time. I ordered the Cava Gyro that also came with fries. Everything was so good as I expected it to be. Perfect temperature too. The other in our party had the same thing and enjoyed their sandwich as well. For dessert I enjoyed their Greek donuts called Loukoumades. In a few pictures online it looks like it is served with the fixings already poured on the donuts - the Nutella and the honey and walnuts, but when I received the dish, each item was separate, so they put you in charge of doing the drizzling of those toppings - I like it. The donuts were round and plump (7 total) with a little sprinkling of sugar and are very airy when you eat each. It has become one of my favorites here. Cava Mezze is a Mediterranean centered restaurant with food that reflects those flavors. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess and shown to our table. The ambiance was refined with a slight upscale vibe. We were seated in the main dining area, which was an open air concept as we could see the kitchen staff preparing food and the bar area as well. They had high table seating by the bar as well. The also offered outdoor seating as well. We were greeted by a pleasant server, who gave us the menus to peruse. There were 3 courses and you could order one from each course. We were a party of two. We selected: Course 1: Crispy potato terrine Course 2: Baklava waffle and smoked salmon toast Course 3: French Toast and Chicken and waffle They also had brunch mania drink specials and I chose the mimosas (oj or grapefruit) for a quarter so I had to have a couple of those (I was not driving!) and my guest got the non-alcoholic blackberry sage lemonade for $2 and a $2 passionfruit lemonade as well (all parties at the table have to participate in the drink specials menu). The server arrived with the complimentary crazy feta hush puppies and they were good: cornmeal, jalapeño, and red onion deep fried with harissa butter and honey on the side. They were very good. The 1st course arrived: The crispy potato terrine arrived hot with whipped feta on the side sitting in a herb vinaigrette. I enjoyed the crispy top of the potato square and the layers of perfectly cooked potato slices. The vinaigrette provided a nice balance to the whipped feta and potato. The second course: baklava waffle and smoked salmon toast. The waffle arrived hot made with crispy phyllo dough and topped with walnuts, and cinnamon orange honey. The waffle was fresh and the flavors went well together. I got the smoked salmon toast with just the salmon on the toast and the whipped crazy feta, pickled beets, dill, and arugula on the side. The citrus vinaigrette was on the salmon and the toast was nice and crispy, but not hard. The smoked salmon was fresh. I really enjoyed it. The third course: French toast and chicken and waffles. The French toast was by far our favorite: crispy French toast covered with marinated berries, orange honey, vanilla, and whipped cream. It was SO good! The chicken and waffles was not what we expected: the chicken that arrived was like the chicken prepared for a schnitzel: flat, breaded, and fried with hardly any flavor ( it did say it in the menu description, but we only saw chicken and waffles...). It was accompanied by honey, feta, and green onion. The waffle was just ok. Needless to say, this was the one dish we did not care for. The quarter mimosa was ok, just a basic one, but the lemonades were really good with me preferring the blackberry safe over the passionfruit. All in all, a nice place to enjoy brunch and have a decent meal.
