I have been a loyal customer of Woodland True Value for 20 years, I figured it's about time a let people know what they have meant to me. Service is a little more important to me than it might be for most folks. I am somewhat disabled and my inability to stand for more than a minute or so makes it hard for me to shop for the things I think I need. (I seldom buy anything I don't have three of at home) When I come into the store there is a bench for me to sit on and wait for help. Even though I run the guys around sometimes the never become impatient with me or act as if I am inconveniencing them at all, even when I know I am. But that only tells half of the story. When I am home and discover a need for a product they might have, I find myself smiling because I know that I am about to be in the company of people who make me feel like family. Thier warm and welcoming response to my arrival brightens my day. As I read the other reviews, I see that I am not the only person who truly appreciates these guys. Matt Banes, went above and beyond to help me. I wanted a particular Christmas tree. He stayed involved until the order came through. He calked me, set up the tree so I could see it. It is the perfect tree for me. I bought it. I thank Matt for making sure this order came to his store. He is kind, considerate, funny, personable. The kind of employee every employer wants and needs. I purchased a grass trimmer but they didn't have it in The store but gave me a rain check, big mistake I payed for it and they were to call me as soon as it would arrive. 3 months later and several visits to the store they finally full filled my purchase. Very disappointed though with their personnel who offered to call me as soon as they received the item I purchased. This is one of the best hardware stores I have ever been to.. I've been coming here for about 15 years.. and have always had superior service. This is one of the few remaining local hometown businesses where the folks inside really give a damn that you came through the door and truly appreciate your business. There is always a "welcome.. can I help you with anything?" The folks who work here are professionals and know their business... and have always been very helpful when I've had questions or advice when I was tackling a job I wasn't too sure about . They have a great inventory... I have found practically everything I've ever needed right here .. and if it wasn't available.. they could order it right away . Service oriented businesses like this are becoming rarer by the day .. I hope they are around for a long time . read more

Next to the library, True Value Hardware in Woodland is my favorite place to hang out "downtown". Given this fact, you may immediately discount my opinion, but if you're actually looking for places to hang out in Woodland, there's a good chance you're the sort of person that would think my opinion was quite valuable. :-) Bird, Beth, Keith, Gary, Di, Darryl, Mike -- they are what make True Value Hardware a great place to visit for your hardware needs. This isn't some fancy-schmancy hardware store that's super-giant, nor is it the only hardware store in town. In fact, it's one of two hardware stores that I know of, and it's the smaller of the two. But as I've also mentioned about the Woodland Community Library, what this place may lack in size and variety, it makes up for in heart and helpfulness. My brother and I have probably spent at least a day there if you combine all our visits over the course of 2008. And we've always come away with what we need and not a thing extra. Everyone that works there is knowledgeable and always willing to find another co-worker who may know more about a particular item or subject (not because they're trying to get rid of you, but because each one of them seems to have a specialty). These folks are great. The fact that they have a mini Woodland History museum in the front display case also makes it totally awesome. Not to mention some of the items on the shelves that look like they've been there for a number of years. Mothballs come to mind. ;-) It's totally worth it to look for what you need at True Value, even if it turns out they don't have it. read more

As American iconic as one can get is an old timey Hardware store? Which is what one's finds at this small store in Woodland Washington U.S.A. ! And I know I know; True Value is a chain? However this store seems to retain it's small town ambiance in spite of that? I have been a customer here for 20+ years buying things like light bulbs, nuts,bolts,screws, tools and anything needed to fix things around my House in La Center?
