Easy to find via Google Maps, parking is a nightmare in this area - 2 hour limits for lots of street parking. Place was 90% full when we arrived Thursday at 6PM, but cleared to 70% by the time we left at 7PM. No line to get seated which was nice. I liked the graffiti walls and decor. Tables and chairs were simple. Waitress seemed super busy and was beet red like she had run 5km before we got there. She said we could sit anywhere, brought us menus and water but then we had to flag her down after waiting for her for 20minutes to order. We tried/split the Juicy Lucy, and Crispy Colonel. No sides since we had been snacking. Food took only 15 minutes to make which was nice to see. Juicy Lucy was a disappointment. Meat felt dry and crumbly. Bun was soft and they were generous with the onions. I dislike shredded lettuce as well as it was super messy. Crispy Colonel was decent. Very crispy to the point I had to pull off a couple very crispy edges of just batter. Chicken was moist and it had subtle flavor. Better than the Juicy Lucy but not sure it ranks in the top 5 chicken burgers I've ever had. Different waitress stopped to see how the food was and we asked for more water (non was offered) and I asked for the bill as I didn't want to have to flag someone down again - which was brought 5 minutes after asking which was nice. She also came back with a small pitcher of water which was nice but would have been even nicer if it had been brought at the beginning of the meal. Overall not super impressed but may venture back if I am in the area to try the Boar burger.

    Mimosa, thanks.

AUGUST 16, 2019 New potato alert!! New potatoes!! The fries are now SUPER crispy! Changes varieties and suppliers of spuds. Perfect! Can't wait to try the poutine for brunch next time. Ciders changing all the time! Finally got my paws on a Calgary cherry cider that was perfect. Not sweet, nothing artificial, and I dislike flavoured ciders. Give me a good plain Apple any day, but this...is exceptional. Tried the vegetarian offering the Mushroom Melt. A portobello mushroom with tomato jalapeño jam, red wine braised onions, goat cheese and arugula on a perfectly crusty gluten free Care Bakery bun. Perfectly crusty. Ideal combination. Glad I tried it, and I'd eat it again. I also learned that Woodshed does Meatless Mondays so there are other options. Big secret though, there are some excellent vegan buns in house that you have to ask especially for, limited quantity and they won't last long! =============== July 2019- Breakfast poutine - BRUNCH! Gf gravy! Perfectly poached eggs, squeaky real curds. You imitation poutine eaters don't complain!! It's not supposed to not be a melty gooey mess! Dedicated GF fryer. Gf buns from Calgary's Care Bakery. Buns so popular it had Chef Shufelt coming in on a Sunday to "borrow" from friendly restaurants that could spare some. Napkins - not for smearing around food on your face. Seriously absorbent tough soft large & unbleached, Glutenberg beer. Homestead Gf from YYC Good wine menu- short but quality. Whiskey... it's quite a list Hyper local ingredients and bevs where possible! Beers on tap. Pop no lemonade or iced tea yet Cider so popular sold out in seconds Custom mural slogan All Beef no bull. Really cool atmosphere with lots of neat art on the wall. We had lunch at Woodshed on a monday afternoon, which also happened to coincide with the Roxy sign being put up so you could have sat at the bar stools and watched that action. I had the Woodshed burger on a gluten free bun and it was delicious. One of those burgers where you have to manoeuvre around to fit in your mouth but I got the job done. The gluten free bun they had was also pretty good and they toasted it before which gave it that delicious crisp that I miss with regular buns. We also had some french fries with their homemade ketchup, another great side. The server was just lovely and it was a great little meal. There seems so be some family packs ect which would be a good deal. Yum!

This place is all around really well. It is small and interesting. Has a great mural on the feature wall. No very comfortable to stay in. I wish the atmosphere allowed more ability to relax and chat. Chairs are super comfortable. Service was good. The server was friendly and knowledgable. Menu has a good selection of burgers to suit all tastes. My husband decided on the juicy Lucy while I went with the spicy Sriracha salmon burger. For sides we went with the brussel sprouts and the shed fries. Everything came in a timely manner. Burgers were really delicous. I loved the flavours in the salmon burger and my husband enjoyed he Juicy Lucy. Fries were great. Brussel sprouts were SO OVERCOOKED. Look at my photos. Way too burnt and not tasty. They took it of our tab for us. We decided to have the banana split for dessert. SO AMAZING. Very generous and healthy portions for the price. Loved the coconut fried banana. I would skip the sides next time and just order a burger and dessert. I will be back.

Great place! Quick and funky, amazing quality! They've got beer and bourbon, and are kid friendly. I had the boar bacon Swiss lettuce wrapped and it was great. Try them all for sure....love the mural of all the big chain burger places lol

Ordered from Woodshed when they were cooking out of Workshop in Ellerslie. Hamburgers were good but found them a little dry. Also ordered the workshop Brussels sprouts because they're too good to ignore. French fries were amazing.

I have been to Woodshed burgers a few times now since it officially opened on July 2, 2019. I was also able to sample their namesake burger, the Woodshed burger, when the did a pre-opening "back alley burger" event as a fundraiser to help rebuild the Roxy Theatre on 124 St. So I heard about this establishment opening through social media and was quite excited as the Chef runs another amazing restaurant, Workshop Eatery. I also luckily found out about the pre-launch back alley burger event and was able to get there to sample their burgers ($10 donation went to The Roxy Fundraiser). The back alley burger was awesome and it made me look more forward to the restaurant opening. One thing I learned at the back alley event was that they are a VERY gluten friendly restaurant. My other half is celiac so I usually inquire about these things. They use Care Bakery buns for their GF options and having tasted many GF buns I would say Care Bakery are some of the best around! Almost all menu items are gluten-free or can be made gluten-free. They have a dedicated gluten-free fryer! They have gluten-free Gravy! I'm so happy about the GF options because that means as a regular non-GF person we can come here as often as we please. I learned a lot of this because one of the staff is celiac himself. So far I have tried the Woodshed burger, the Smurf burger, the Juicy Lucy burger, the Poutine (the breakfast poutine with 2 eggs is AWESOME!), and the regular fries. I have been extremely satisfied with all of the meals so far. I appreciate they are sourcing their meat locally (Nonay Beef from Lakeside Dairy), their buns are made in house, their GF buns from Care Bakery in Calgary, and also they bring in local beers and ciders, etc. I really do appreciate the portion sizes. They are big enough to satisfy you and not too small to leave you feeling hungry or let down. I really tire of the trend of huge portions and burgers that are a mile high stuffed with everything plus the kitchen sink. The place is small and has a cool vibe. I love the graffiti artwork on the wall. They are taking all of the big fast-food joints down! There are few video game tables. I got to play Time Pilot, a game I haven't seen in forever but played all the time back in the arcade days. This is now easily one of our go-to burger joints in town. If you are visiting Edmonton and want to have a great locally sourced and made burger check them out!

Awesome burgers and even better service. I got the juicy Lucy and fries and it was awesome. What blew me away though was that I went in and grabbed a table while waiting for a couple more people and while I waited the guy working the counter moved earth and water to bring me a menu and a cup of water. This place is fast casual, ie. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. I didnt expect to have anything brought to me, so it was a nIce touch. Cant wait to go back and try the namesake woodshed burger.

This was our first time to Woodshed. Been meaning to go for a while but the whole virus thing interfered. The burger that we had was really good. Juicy not greasy, fresh lettuce etc. no complaints there. Fries were good, minimally salted if at all. Devote os nice and the roll up window is nice on a nice afternoon. Price for the food was quite reasonable. The service is where it fell down. The girls who were working seemed essentially clueless and had an inability to multi task. It was painful to watch. At one point us and a group of four were served before another couple who had been there long before us. One of those ladies had to go seek out the waitress for an explanation. Seeing as there was only 6 tables in use and 2 waitresses there was no excuse for poor disjointed service.

124th St. with a tiny patio. They have a nice selection of burgers including a vegetarian option. This is what I ordered the portobello burger. It was a pretty good burger. the bun was nice and fresh and the fries were not too seasoned. I appreciate that they have a vegetarian option. I got my order to go -they told me you'll be ready in 15 minutes and it was.

    Brussel sprouts - $9

Fun little burger joint on 124 with a casual atmosphere and vintage arcade games at the tables! Food was good and fresh - we didn't have to wait too long after ordering for our meals to come out. The staff seem to genuinely enjoy being there and were super friendly as they took our orders, brought out our food and checked in on us throughout our visit. Surprisingly, even though it's a burger joint, the brussel sprouts were my favourite - they are crispy, salty delicious little gems with an addictive sauce. You must try!!!

    Tasty beverages.

After hearing amazing things about Woodshed Burgers, we stopped in on a Saturday to see what the fuss was all about. There were quite a few people in the restaurant when we arrived, so there was a bit of a line up. Part was due to a festival happening in the neighbourhood later on in the day. You order at the counter, grab your drinks, head to a table and they bring your food to you. This place is not very big and table space was at a premium. Hubby waited in line to order and I grabbed us a table. One of the servers came by and asked if I'd ordered yet, I told her my husband was ordering for us. She then made a comment about the lack of table space and the fact that two of us would be sitting at a table for four. I looked around and the only table left (aside from a "reserved" table for 6 being held by the window and the long counter on the one side) was at the video game table. I grabbed my stuff and moved over. Well that lasted all of 3 seconds because there's no space to put your knees and you essentially have to manspread and straddle the corner of the table. And...no. I moved us back. A few people were finishing up and leaving anyway, no one was left standing, so her remark ended up being rather unnecessary. Not a really good first impression. The food arrived, it looked and smelled great! Both burgers were cooked to a slightly pink centre (perfect) which is awesome and easy to do correctly when you control your beef supply. The meat was perfectly grilled & extremely juicy with a rich beefy flavour you don't get with processed crap. My burger was one of the best I've ever eaten. The o-rings were hot & crispy and delicious! I think I'll try the fries next time, I hear they're delish! One thing to keep in mind is that the portion sizes are reasonable. You probably won't leave anything on your plate and you likely won't have enough onion rings to be happy sharing them with your spouse. I think we'll stop in again and try something different.

They tried to have some touches to represent Italy. The place itself isn't very big although they did their best to fit in as many tables as they could. They had a lot of high tables with bar seats. The wooden seats weren't the comfiest. High tea food was decent. It came with assorted meats, cheeses, sandwiches, pastries, and some fruit. Everything was fresh and filling. We all enjoyed our sandwiches, the meats, and cheeses. We didn't really care for the pastries. The cannoli and fruit tart had the same filling. One thing we noticed which was a bit unfair was that many tables got different items. Some tables got a small plate of bread (we would've appreciated this to go with the meat and cheese) some got different desserts and sandwiches too. Would've been nice if they were consistent or gave people choices of items if they were going to go that route especially since we all paid the same price. There is a large assortment of teas at the front. Upon your arrival you go to the front and select your tea bag from one of the tins and then take it to your spot. My table all liked the tea that they selected. We found that by the second cup we started losing the flavour as you were limited to one tea bag unless you purchased another. Some high teas I've been to allowed you to pick and choose however many pots of teas you wished. This was nice as we could try other kinds. The restaurant started filling up at about noon and was busy beyond that. You have about 2 hours to eat your meal. The staff was pretty accommodating as we had some dietary restrictions. They were very friendly and welcoming. They did periodically check in. Overall I thought the experience was nice and the price ($35) was reasonable for what we got.

Most people in the city are familiar with Sabor, Edmonton's legendary Spanish and Portuguese restaurant. But have you ever wished that there was a more casual, more low-key version of Sabor? Maybe with multiple conveniently located spots around town? Well you're in luck because that's exactly what Bodega is! You'll find Bodega's flagship restaurant in the lower street level part of Sabor itself, however there are now five other locations. It's almost a guarantee that there is a Bodega near you, no matter where you are. People have loved this place for years. Voted as #1 Best Tapas 2018, #1 Best Spanish 2018, and #1 Best Wine Bar 2018 in VUE Weekly. CBC Edmonton's Best Restaurants 2019 listed them as Best of Downtown. And you'll find them as a Favourite Communal (Sharing) spot on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2022 list. It turns out that the people of Edmonton love a laid-back tapas moment and getting some sangria into the mix doesn't hurt either. I was excited to visit Bodega's original location in the heart of Downtown on a Saturday evening and to finally experience their flavours. The first thing to note about the OG Bodega restaurant is that they don't take reservations, however all of the other ones do. As previously mentioned, you will find the flagship location right inside of Sabor. Parking can sometimes be tricky in this area and that's the only downside. If you've been to Sabor before you already know how impressive the space is. The huge building is one of those places that doesn't need to pretend to be old because it actually is. Instead of heading up the stairs into Sabor's dining space, Bodega is found to the left of the entrance in the lower street-facing area. It's actually a wonderful use of space which otherwise might not have served much of a purpose. Less dressed up and grand than Sabor (but still bearing a similar decor), Bodega harnesses the Spanish modern-day watering hole vibe by featuring a simple but beautiful bar area and bistro-style al fresco dining in the warmer months. The dining space is small and because there are no reservations taken it might be necessary to prepare for a wait. When my group arrived it took about 15 minutes to be seated which seemed entirely reasonable. We were pleased to be situated at a beautiful little table outdoors, in the warm summer breeze. Unfortunately, there were a lot of bugs flying around that kept landing on our table and we had to ask to be moved to one of the more interior tables. Thankfully the staff was able to accommodate this! We really didn't want the bugs to land in our food. The servers who visited our table were all extraordinarily friendly and gracious. Of course there were going to be drinks! The wine list is plentiful and extensive. However, I was more drawn to the interesting Iberico gin & tonics, caipirinhas, sangria, and the signature cocktails. These are the types of drinks that I picture myself holding on a patio in the summer. From the cocktail list, the De Puta Madre (Mezcal, dry Sherry, pineapple, lemon, orgeat, cocoa powder - $16) sounded like the most special one to me. Out of curiosity, I put the name of this drink into a Spanish to English translator and had a pretty good laugh when I learned that it means Fucking Awesome. Well. Sounds like I made the correct beverage choice! And I really did enjoy sipping on this perfectly crafted cocktail. I was slightly worried that the mezcal would be very strong and boozy, but the balance of the ingredients was lovely. I felt that I was able to taste and appreciate the flavour of the mezcal without it being too overpowering. The fruity and sweet flavours from the pineapple, lemon, and almond syrup made the drink fun, but again it wasn't too sweet either. I loved this cocktail and it paired perfectly with the rest of the meal. The food menu is packed full of options and every single thing sounds enticing. The good news is that the plates are small and part of the experience is to order a lot of them. There's a whole long list of tapas, but also breads, spreads, charcutaria, and cheese if you are in the mood to create an exciting board (I always am!). There are also some larger plates if you are truly looking for one big meal of food. On this visit I was aiming to remain in the tapas realm since that is what this restaurant is actually all about. As such, we proceeded to barrage our server with a long list of items, eager to sample as many dishes as reasonably possible. We were asked if we would prefer to have every dish all at once, but opted for a slow and staggered method. No need to hurry though! It wasn't long before our parade of plates began to arrive. First was the Brushchetta (Grape tomato and fromage blanc - $14.00). I wouldn't have chosen this dish on my own accord but I saw it pass by on its way to a different table and it caught my eye. The tomatoes looked

However, seats are not so comfortable and I knew this so I brought a pillow (back injury so I need to think of these things). So that is something to keep in mind. Good menu that has enough choices but not too many so you are not overwhelmed. We chose the oysters which were fresh and lovely with the taste of the sea when you are in landlocked Alberta. The dill mignonette with it brought out the brightness of the Oyster. The broccoli Caesar was amazing and I now need to order this every time when I go. It was green and rich and full of flavour. We also ordered the tagliatelle with short ribs. The meat was hearty, however I felt that the pasta lacked flavour. Service was good. I will be back here for the oysters and the salad for sure!

We ordered 5 dishes and 2 desserts for 4 people and every dish was a winner. Anchovy toast w pickled lemon sat atop a crunchy toast. The taste profile was perfect. I could have eaten a full plate! Next was carpaccio w hazelnuts and pickled butternut squash and pea shoots. So good we had two plates. Buratta w beets and blood orange was creamy and delicious on chewy bread. Miso cod was cooked well - still fork tender and moist on bok choy w pickles to give a kick. The desserts were wonderful - sorbet was berry w sage and candied almonds. The other was lime meringue served in a cute bowl. Creamy and w crunchy crust. They also had a wine of the day and a good selection of alcohol-free drinks. Try the alcohol free sangria. Yummy. Definitely a place to impress your date or spouse or friends. Just be comfortable w sharing. :) technically, they have the miso cod and steak that could serve as a traditional entree and just order a few apps to start for a more traditional meal if that's your fancy.

If you live in Edmonton (and you don't live under a rock) you are undoubtedly aware of the Chef…read moreDaniel Costa monopoly on fine Italian cuisine by now. Six restaurants strong, this restaurant group features a different vibe and experience at each one, from the more casual to the truly elevated. The consistent aspect between each of them is that you will be hard pressed to find a finer Italian meal in the city. Bar Bricco (the second in the family) opened in 2014 and has since completely absorbed the next-door space that used to belong to Corso 32 (now making it the most senior in the group). The identity of this restaurant is purely "Italian wine bar;" offering small plates, handmade pastas, and an exclusively Italian wine list. Perhaps the most rambunctious of the six, the quality and care toward the food does not suffer just because the atmosphere is louder and younger. (The younger crowd likes nice things too, as they should.) Ranking at #51 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2016, #80 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2017, and #45 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2018, the accolades don't stop there. Avenue Magazine also named them Best Late Night Restaurant 2019, Best Restaurant for Sharing 2019, and Best Late-Night Restaurant 2020. I visited on a Tuesday evening, excited to add to my Corso 32 Group collection. Located in a sleek row Downtown, Bar Bricco can be found next door to its fairly new sister Rita. The exterior isn't flashy - nothing more than a black awning with the restaurant's name printed in white cursive lettering. Inside the space is moody, capturing a decidedly subterranean vibe. Black hexagonal tiles interlock around the bar and white marble table tops contrast against the midnight hues. The space was buzzing with many occupied tables filled with a hip clientele, laughing and enjoying each other's company. It can get pretty loud but that's the intended atmosphere at Bar Bricco. The idea of mixing and mingling is the entire point. Seated at a table for two, our server was upbeat and friendly, matching the feeling of the room. Blasphemy as it may be, I'm not much of a wine drinker so the curated list of Italian wines got overlooked in favour of the cocktail menu. I love a Sbagliato (Prosecco, Campari, Cocchi vermouth - $20.00) and was happy to find it listed - stunning! Similar to a negroni, the difference is that instead of gin the beverage is made with a sparkling wine (like prosecco) instead. This version was adult and delicious but a bit more fun and trendy compared to a regular negroni because you get the effervescence from the prosecco. A perfect palate cleanser, the bittersweet citrus notes help to cut through the rich food dishes like a dream. The menu at Bar Bricco is inspired by the diverse regional cuisines of Italy. Instead of pigeon holing into one specific province, you'll find plates that feature the best that the country has to offer while keeping the dishes simple and playful. A tasting menu is offered where the restaurant can select the plates for your group (never a bad idea!) but on my visit I had already made up my mind about what I was excited to try. Starting with the Lardo & Anchovy Crostino ($11.00). These are served individually so each person will need to order their own. Each piece of toasted bread was adorned with a singular anchovy and then draped in sheets of lardo, a type of salume made by curing strips of fatback. The decadent and salty flavour was right up my alley however I could have used even more anchovy! I know that anchovies can be an overwhelming flavour and it makes sense not to be heavy-handed but I could have eaten at least a second fish. A really nice bite to whet the appetite! One of the piatti that I had heard the most about was easily the Soft Scrambled Eggs 'Cacio e Pepe' (Black truffle, crostini - $23.00) and I couldn't wait to try it for myself! Every egg should taste exactly like this!! Velvet folds of creamy, indulgent scrambled eggs are seasoned with black pepper and pecorino (just like cacio e pepe pasta) and the addition of truffle brings a luxurious element. Scooping these eggs onto slices of chewy crostini felt like the best breakfast ever, although perfectly acceptable for any time of day. I am ruined for eggs because I need them to be like this forever. I had also heard that the Leeks (Whipped ricotta, 'salumi bomba' & mint - $23.00) were magical. Leeks are having a total moment right now and I see them on more and more menus. A good preparation leaves them tender and ready to absorb whatever ingredients they're paired with. This dish was executed perfectly in the sense that it was beautiful to look at and provided an unexpected heat that woke up my taste buds! The spicy salumi bomba was served on top like a meat sauce while the creamy whipped ricotta waited underneath to cool everything down. The leeks were cut into cylinders, allowing the bold flavours to seep down between the sheaths. An inspired dish! Moving on to pasta,

We just returned from Italy and due to some underwhelming food (due to lack of due diligence - food has changed in moderate priced Italian places to cater to North American tastes) we rushed to Bar Bricco to satisfy our focaccia craving. The Wagyu beef tartar was silky and excellent, huge egg yolk ravioli perfectly executed - when I cut into the ravioli, a beautiful golden yolk flowed out richening(is that a word?) the sauce. Yum. A feast for the eyes and the soul. Two anchovy crustinis on the menu- one w the classic truffle French butter and a new one w a spicy sauce. Floating for days on a cloud of happiness.

Super disappointing we drove a half an hour to make it on time and rushed and everything thinking that an hour and 20 minutes before it closes is more than enough time for a quick Dinner service for two people and obviously we're not a-holes so when the entire staff is ready to just shutter early and leave, we're not gonna be the two people that insist that they stay open. The guy working there was really nice to my friend apparently though. So nothing against the staff personally or anything. Oh, and the gazebo is getting wild. Madeline also brought out a purple martini with olives that looked divine and tasted even better -- one of the most beautiful cocktails I've had in Edmonton. We both chose seafood dishes, and every plate was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly done. Pip manages to be elevated yet relaxed, with a real community vibe. Definitely planning to make this place a regular stop on my relaxing/drinking/socializing rounds now.
