We visited Woodshed Burgers for the 2nd time tonight. I could go on and on about how fantastic their food is, but the real gem here is the service. Our server, Pam was attentive right from the start and throughout the meal. She was assisted by Linnea (sorry, not sure of the spelling) who was over the top. We were sharing a side salad so we asked for a 2nd plate. She was happy to help and asked if we wanted some tongs to split it. So helpful! We ordered the Chocolate Decadence and it was incredible - GF cake, chocolate espresso, raspberry Coulier and burnt honey ice cream. It was amazing! Delicious chicken burgers and onion rings. Locally sourced and fresh ingredients. I personally love the chicken burgers and onion rings here. They are my go to dishes and they never disappoint. Tons of fresh ingredients locally sourced I feel like it's healthier than other fast food joints. The onion rings are probably some of the best in edmonton. They come freshly battered and seasoned. And I love putting some in my burgers too! I recently tried this place for the January $2 classic burger special and man was it an amazing deal. For $2 it was awesome to support local since I ordered so much extras..the cook actually thought it was for 2 people. Lol. I just have bigger eyes than a stomach! Stopped in @ 1130 with friends who had the Ben Burger and poutine while I had the buffalo burger and onion rings. Service was super friendly and kept our water topped up. I had the cherry sour beer as well and it was fantastic. Temperature in the place was cold and we generally kept our coats on. People were trickling in so maybe it heats up with more bodies. Food arrived and I was very underwhelmed. Bun was dry, condiments were cold enough to chill the whole burger to lukewarm, and the onion rings were overdone to the max. I could not actually find the onion, meaning it had been vaporized by the heat. The texture of the ring batter was roughly akin to balsa wood that has been held over a flame. If you bit into one it exploded, throwing super crisp batter shrapnel onto the table. Their house made condiments are a nice touch but could not save those onion rings. Can't say if I would go back. I just tried Woodshed's basic burger with a side of fries and a chocolate milkshake via delivery. I can really taste the quality of the meat in the burger. I thought the patty was going to be small but it was a reasonable size, and the shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles added crisp freshness. The fries stayed crispy on the ride home, and the shake was rich and creamy. A little on the pricey side for the meal, but if the quality is there it's definitely worth it, at least for an occasional treat. read more

Easy to find via Google Maps, parking is a nightmare in this area - 2 hour limits for lots of street parking. Place was 90% full when we arrived Thursday at 6PM, but cleared to 70% by the time we left at 7PM. No line to get seated which was nice. I liked the graffiti walls and decor. Tables and chairs were simple. Waitress seemed super busy and was beet red like she had run 5km before we got there. She said we could sit anywhere, brought us menus and water but then we had to flag her down after waiting for her for 20minutes to order. We tried/split the Juicy Lucy, and Crispy Colonel. No sides since we had been snacking. Food took only 15 minutes to make which was nice to see. Juicy Lucy was a disappointment. Meat felt dry and crumbly. Bun was soft and they were generous with the onions. I dislike shredded lettuce as well as it was super messy. Crispy Colonel was decent. Very crispy to the point I had to pull off a couple very crispy edges of just batter. Chicken was moist and it had subtle flavor. Better than the Juicy Lucy but not sure it ranks in the top 5 chicken burgers I've ever had. Different waitress stopped to see how the food was and we asked for more water (non was offered) and I asked for the bill as I didn't want to have to flag someone down again - which was brought 5 minutes after asking which was nice. She also came back with a small pitcher of water which was nice but would have been even nicer if it had been brought at the beginning of the meal. Give me a good plain Apple any day, but this...is exceptional. Tried the vegetarian offering the Mushroom Melt. A portobello mushroom with tomato jalapeño jam, red wine braised onions, goat cheese and arugula on a perfectly crusty gluten free Care Bakery bun. Perfectly crusty. Ideal combination. Glad I tried it, and I'd eat it again. I also learned that Woodshed does Meatless Mondays so there are other options. Really cool atmosphere with lots of neat art on the wall. We had lunch at Woodshed on a monday afternoon, which also happened to coincide with the Roxy sign being put up so you could have sat at the bar stools and watched that action. I had the Woodshed burger on a gluten free bun and it was delicious. One of those burgers where you have to manoeuvre around to fit in your mouth but I got the job done. The gluten free bun they had was also pretty good and they toasted it before which gave it that delicious crisp that I miss with regular buns. We also had some french fries with their homemade ketchup, another great side. The server was just lovely and it was a great little meal. There seems so be some family packs ect which would be a good deal. Yum! read more

This place is all around really well. It is small and interesting. Has a great mural on the feature wall. No very comfortable to stay in. I wish the atmosphere allowed more ability to relax and chat. Chairs are super comfortable. Service was good. The server was friendly and knowledgable. Menu has a good selection of burgers to suit all tastes. My husband decided on the juicy Lucy while I went with the spicy Sriracha salmon burger. For sides we went with the brussel sprouts and the shed fries. Everything came in a timely manner. Burgers were really delicous. I loved the flavours in the salmon burger and my husband enjoyed he Juicy Lucy. Fries were great. Brussel sprouts were SO OVERCOOKED. Look at my photos. Way too burnt and not tasty. They took it of our tab for us. We decided to have the banana split for dessert. SO AMAZING. Very generous and healthy portions for the price. It was my first time there. I have drove by for a few years and finally checked it out. It was a great experience. The burger was juicy with loads of flavor. I have been to Woodshed burgers a few times now since it officially opened on July 2, 2019. I was also able to sample their namesake burger, the Woodshed burger, when the did a pre-opening "back alley burger" event as a fundraiser to help rebuild the Roxy Theatre on 124 St. So I heard about this establishment opening through social media and was quite excited as the Chef runs another amazing restaurant, Workshop Eatery. I also luckily found out about the pre-launch back alley burger event and was able to get there to sample their burgers ($10 donation went to The Roxy Fundraiser). The back alley burger was awesome and it made me look more forward to the restaurant opening. One thing I learned at the back alley event was that they are a VERY gluten friendly restaurant. My other half is celiac so I usually inquire about these things. They use Care Bakery buns for their GF options and having tasted many GF buns I would say Care Bakery are some of the best around! Almost all menu items are gluten-free or can be made gluten-free. They have a dedicated gluten-free fryer! They have gluten-free Gravy! I'm so happy about the GF options because that means as a regular non-GF person we can come here as often as we please. I learned a lot of this because one of the staff is celiac himself. So far I have tried the Woodshed burger, the Smurf burger, the Juicy Lucy burger, the Poutine (the breakfast poutine with 2 eggs is AWESOME!), and the regular fries. I have been extremely satisfied with all of the meals so far. I appreciate they are sourcing their meat locally (Nonay Beef from Lakeside Dairy), their buns are made in house, their GF buns from Care Bakery in Calgary, and also they bring in local beers and ciders, etc. I really do appreciate the portion sizes. They are big enough to satisfy you and not too small to leave you feeling hungry or let down. I really tire of the trend of huge portions and burgers that are a mile high stuffed with everything plus the kitchen sink. The place is small and has a cool vibe. I love the graffiti artwork on the wall. They are taking all of the big fast-food​ joints down! There are few video game tables. I got to play Time Pilot, a game I haven't seen in forever but played all the time back in the arcade days. This is now easily one of our go-to burger joints in town. Awesome burgers and even better service. I got the juicy Lucy and fries and it was awesome. What blew me away though was that I went in and grabbed a table while waiting for a couple more people and while I waited the guy working the counter moved earth and water to bring me a menu and a cup of water. This place is fast casual, ie. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. I didnt expect to have anything brought to me, so it was a nIce touch. This was our first time to Woodshed. Been meaning to go for a while but the whole virus thing interfered. The burger that we had was really good. Juicy not greasy, fresh lettuce etc. no complaints there. Fries were good, minimally salted if at all. Devote os nice and the roll up window is nice on a nice afternoon. Price for the food was quite reasonable. The service is where it fell down. The girls who were working seemed essentially clueless and had an inability to multi task. It was painful to watch. At one point us and a group of four were served before another couple who had been there long before us. One of those ladies had to go seek out the waitress for an explanation. Seeing as there was only 6 tables in use and 2 waitresses there was no excuse for poor disjointed service. read more

Recently went to Woodshed Burgers, picked up some food and took it to Emily Murphy Park for a picnic. Ordered a Juicy Lucy, The Woodshed and the classic poutine. Both burgers were both very TASTY, but they were definitely way OVERPRICED. The classic poutine, was a total DISAPPOINTMENT, the fries where 'meh', the gravy was bland and we exactly had 5 small pieces of cheese on the whole order. Even though we didn't eat in, the restaurant looked very cozy and cool place to hangout. Definitely a place worth trying, but not a place we'd go back to. read more

I heard so much about this place that we really wanted to try it out. We went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and found the place well kept and interesting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered what the waitress called their best burger, The Juicy Lucy, my wife ordered the Smurf. We also ordered the Shed fries and onion rings. The Shed fries were fantastic and really meant for sharing. The onion rings were also good but cut much too think with too heavy a batter. I could only get 2 of them down. I found both burgers to be of normal size, the buns were soft and fit the size of the meat but I found them to be not enough for the cost. For $3 less I can get a double burger at Fat Burger and I can barely finish it. Overall I found Woodshed to be good but not worth the money. read more

After hearing amazing things about Woodshed Burgers, we stopped in on a Saturday to see what the fuss was all about. There were quite a few people in the restaurant when we arrived, so there was a bit of a line up. Part was due to a festival happening in the neighbourhood later on in the day. You order at the counter, grab your drinks, head to a table and they bring your food to you. This place is not very big and table space was at a premium. Hubby waited in line to order and I grabbed us a table. One of the servers came by and asked if I'd ordered yet, I told her my husband was ordering for us. She then made a comment about the lack of table space and the fact that two of us would be sitting at a table for four. I looked around and the only table left (aside from a "reserved" table for 6 being held by the window and the long counter on the one side) was at the video game table. I grabbed my stuff and moved over. Well that lasted all of 3 seconds because there's no space to put your knees and you essentially have to manspread and straddle the corner of the table. And...no. I moved us back. A few people were finishing up and leaving anyway, no one was left standing, so her remark ended up being rather unnecessary. Not a really good first impression. The food arrived, it looked and smelled great! Both burgers were cooked to a slightly pink centre (perfect) which is awesome and easy to do correctly when you control your beef supply. The meat was perfectly grilled & extremely juicy with a rich beefy flavour you don't get with processed crap. My burger was one of the best I've ever eaten. The o-rings were hot & crispy and delicious! I think I'll try the fries next time, I hear they're delish! One thing to keep in mind is that the portion sizes are reasonable. You probably won't leave anything on your plate and you likely won't have enough onion rings to be happy sharing them with your spouse. Been hearing good things about this burger joint, and as its the brain child of Chef Paul Shufelt who makes incredible pastrami for the Workshop Eatery' amazing reuben, we finally made time to try it while we were in that popular 124st area. Hubby went with the Juicy Lucy: Nonay beef, BBQ short rib stuffed, smoked cheddar, bourbon caramelized onions, lettuce, garlic aioli. The components separately were fab, but the cheddar and aioli masked the burger's flavor which was disappointing as the burger should be the standout of the night. I had the Boar Bacon Swiss: Fresh ground wild boar, bourbon-braised onions, Irvings Farm Fresh bacon, Sylvan Star gruyere, cherry mustard, arugula... and this burger is a winner. The burger is packed with flavor, juicy and the onions and cherry mustard add just the right amount of sweetness without tipping it overboard. The fries were excellent, and the beer battered onion rings took things out of the park- super fluffy and flavor bomb city, they were the hit of the night despite being quite greasy, but that's inherent in a fluffy batter. We shared a strawberry milkshake made with picollino icecream- not overly sweet, though it could have used way more strawberries, it rounded out the night and we were too full to try their every changing icecream sandwich of the night. Next time, going to try their crispy chicken burger or maybe thr Effing fish fillet burger and save room for the icecream sandwich! A good variety of locally brewed beers and whiskeys available for those that want a happy drink with their burgers. Service was fast and friendly. Chef Paul (or his remarkable doppelganger) popped out to check on each table tonight as well despite the place being packed and hopping. Update.. went with a bigger group ttonight and tried more burgers! My fav beef burger so far in the menu.. the simplistic classic burger.. it's simple, executed well and let's the beef really speak for itself. It's not as pretty as the woodshed burger, but it sings. My friend and I came for burgers and after reviewing a rather lacklustre menu, he got the WS BURGER, I got the Chicken Burger. Both were bland, with very little seasoning, including whatever the WS sauce was(boring, it was boring). We both had onion rings as our side(for which you pay $6 for) and then end up with 5 rings. Awesome experience! My wife and I went to woodshed with another couple on a Saturday night. We got there about 6:15 and were greeted by the happy helpful gentleman behind the counter. Ordered some beers to start our night. We were able to snag the table by the big open garage door at the front of the restaurant which was great. We all ordered a burger and shared a couple of sides. The burgers were amazing. Seemed like fresh home made buns, awesome quality meat, and fresh lettuce and so on. We got the Brussels sprouts as a side and the other couple got the poutine, both were very good. The beer selection is awesome. Seachange brewery and blindman brewery were on tap, super happy about that. And beer was a very reasonable price. First time visit and it wasn't great. I had the Woodshed Burger, the cook must have fallen asleep because my burger was cooked to a frazzle, hard and crispy on the outside, totally dried out inside. I've never experienced that before and I've had my share of burgers. To make it worse, the tomato sauce or relish (or whatever it is) was ice cold which didn't help. No Bon Ton bakery buns today for one reason or other. I'm sure it's usually much better but I can only report on what I experienced. Server was pleasant and positive. I've heard some fantastic things about this place from friends, fellow foodies and a have read some great online reviews. Started with the Crispy Colonel - A hot crispy breaded chicken breast that stayed crispy to the very last bite. Cooked and seasoned well. A great place to start if unsure what to chow down on. My friend took me here for my birthday dinner and it was FANTASTIC. I had wanted to try this place for awhile now and it did not disappoint. The staff was friendly right from the get go, offering suggestions and laughing with us. I ordered the Juicy Lucy- man! This was THE BEST burger I've had in Edmonton and in my top three best burgers I've ever had. The burger was juicy and the bun was soft and slightly crispy in the right spots. The short rib filling was on point, moist and savory and just the right proportion to the patty. I also had the onion rings and these were bomb too! The beer batter was seasoned nicely and they were crispy and not greasy. My friend had the boar bacon burger and he said it was one of the best he's ever had as well. He got the fries as a side and they were crispy and hand cut. I got the cocoa cappuccino milkshake and it was decadent and creamy. To finish off our meal we had their house made ice cream sandwiches. The staff member told me they use Pinocchio ice cream in delightfully different flavours; today was Cap'n Crunch with a vanilla cookie - this was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Today for our anniversary Hubby and I decided to order takeout from the ellerslie location on the advice of one of his colleagues. I got the Juicy Lucy, hubby got the smurf burger, and we shared some fries, brussels sprouts, and a vanilla milkshake. All I have to say is Holy Crap! Seriously everything was so delicious. My burger was so dang good its probably the best burger I've had in ages. If you're craving a good, solid, juicy burger this is definitely the place. Also I will admit that brussels sprouts are already one of my fav vegetables, but I am probably going to be thinking about those sprouts for weeks. So crispy and flavourful. Been here two or three times now - been very impressed! It was tough losing Dovetail and Solstice in the span of a year or two, but the 124 St. come-up continues with this fine spot. They make some big juicy burgers with top notch ingredients. I tried the Juicy Lucy (short-ribbed stuffed burger) and the Bison Bacon Burger. I preferred the Bison burger, with it's mix of sweet and savoury - but they were both great. I tried both the fries and the onion rings, as well as the brussell sprouts. I personally LOVE the onion rings. Nice and crunchy. The fries are excellent too. Looking forward to a time when I save room for dessert, as I would really love to try their shakes! I really was looking very forward to trying the burgers here. I watch for new restaurants, especially burgers. I kept mentioning it to my husband, and one Friday evening, we decided to stop in after errands, only to find it was totally packed and steamy in there. My fault - I should have realized, especially since the place is small. However, we made it a little earlier the next week, and found it nearly empty. We both ordered the Juicy Lucy, he with fries, me with onion rings. The meat was very tasty, I will say that, but the burger was rather small. His fries were as good as any, but maybe they were having an off-night, because the servers were not overly friendly, and the onion rings (sorry but I have to be honest) were gross. Looked like they had been cooked in old oil, really greasy and dark, almost burnt. I was very disappointed, and these 4 items came to about 40 bucks, so it's not like we got a lot for the money. I wanted to love it as we really want a good quality burger place. BUT - I will try it again simply because I always give a place another shot. read more
