I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at the bar with Mattie completely ruined the start of what was supposed to be a special girls' night out. I hadn't gotten dressed up and gone out in a very long time, and within two minutes of sitting down, Mattie greeted me by asking if I was the mother of the bride. The bride in question is only three years younger than me, and her actual mother was sitting right at the other end of the bar. When I naturally reacted with shock and told her it was rude, she immediately took offense and began acting as if I had disrespected her. I was trying so hard not to cry or let it ruin my night. When I mentioned to my friend how badly my feelings were hurt, Mattie chimed in to say, "I already feel bad about it," before continuing to storm around behind the bar with an annoyed attitude. Not once did she actually say "I'm sorry," and she made absolutely no effort to fix the situation or soften the insult. Her complete lack of a real apology and her defensive behavior turned a careless mistake into an incredibly hostile and hurtful interaction. Customer service should mean making guests feel welcome, not making them want to cry two minutes after walking through the door. There was even a moment where she went to share with who I can only assume were regulars, what had been said and only stopped when I made direct eye contact with her to say a nonsensical "and yeah" as she walked off to say "anyone else need anything?!?" like she hadn't been on the verge of expressing HER bad experience to her buddies. The mean girl energy was the only top notch thing about her service. On top of that horrid taste in my mouth at the very start, the drink she made was so sweet, it was almost undrinkable. I guess she didn't hear me mention that the 4 or 5 times I did, because she never chimed in on that. Even when it came to the checks, she took off the second drink my friend ordered - who she didn't gravely insult as soon as they walked in. I still tipped 40% on my tab, but not because she deserved it, but because I'm sure some portion of it is given to the much more deserving staff. Mattie, that really sucked. Woman to woman - you know better. I don't care how long you have been there or how good or not good you are at your job - that was disrespectful, unprofessional, and unnecessary. Next time, just follow the law and ID everyone. Chef - great job! The street corn gnocchi was to die for. The guy who I think was the manager - thank you for laughing with us as we sang along to Blink 182. You were all otherwise very welcoming, dressed professionally, and all around offered a great atmosphere I'd be happy to come back to and get a table at. read more

Second time at the Nest and I was happy to return. We started with a couple glasses of wine at happy hour and enjoyed a couple items off the menu. We ordered the flatbread pizza with pepperoni and a happy hour order of mussels. The flatbread was very good and the small order of mussels in a curry broth was fine. Nest features a number of $6 treats for happy hour and $6 drinks. We ordered more wine and a well made Old Fashioned which was nicely done with a rock and luxe cherry. We followed with the Crostini trio which had duck pancetta with orange marmalade, wagyu beef and crispy prosciutto with apple butter. The Trio was tasty and the duck was my favorite. We also ordered the Winter salad which was a small wedge with pancetta chunks and blue cheese. The salad was fine but nothing special. I wanted to order the scallops as I had them before (they were the best I've had in town) and they were outstanding, but I wanted to try something different. I ordered the Steak Frites rare and the Drunken Mussels. I have to say I am so happy that I ordered both of these dishes. The steak ftites was perfectly cooked...crispy on the outside with a nice salt and nice and tender inside. It came with fries and a chimichurri sauce. My first bite said it all...as I could not help but shake my head with satisfaction. The waitress caught my reaction and smiled as she walked on. The mussels were prepared with a hint of old Bay in a tasty broth with collard greens and andouille sausage. A slice of toasted cornbread topped it off and was an excellent addition. I'm a big fan of mussels in a traditional mirepoix broth, however, this version stole the show. I was so impressed with the mussels I would order them straight up for a first appetizer every time. Very remarkable. I would order them 10 times over. If you stop by the Nest, make sure you order the Scallops, the steak frites, and the drunken muscles. They were each head and shoulders above anything I found on Saint Simons Island and Brunswick at any other restaurant. I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. They were happy to take reservations for our large group for a celebration. The drinks were delicious and refreshing. Every single food item we had (I think our group tasted almost everything) was spectacular! They were intentional with allergies and made sure each allergy was accounted for. This is a great little spot, but it IS small inside (outside seating too) so if you are serious, you might want reservations. We enjoyed the bar area and had roasted Brussels in a honey type spread on the plate, crab cakes, salads, bread n butter (butter delicious) and pizza-- it's a tapas type place so it's fun to order lots of diff options-- great cocktails and wine too. The menu had diversity without sacrificing quality. Literally everything we had was fantastic-- from the shrimp to the bao to the tuna, salad, pizza, and roti with curry. The surprise star of the meal was the cornbread pound cake with cherry compote-- a flavorful but not overly sweet dessert! Our server treated us so well too-- never left looking, and always had an extra recommendation to boot (sourdough to further enjoy the lemon caper sauce from the shrimp). A huge thank you to her! Let's start with food quality. Highest quality ingredients expertly prepared! The first non flour based pizza I've ever had that was on par with traditional pizza doughs. It was delicious! One of the best New England clam chowders we ever had and we are from New England. Excellent take on Key Lime pie. Very friendly staff, spotlessly clean and great atmosphere topped off by a vinyl record player! Yet another great little restaurant in SSI. Thanks and we will come back again. read more

The tapas are a bit small and over priced. There are larger cities with better food and drink pairings but over all it's tasty.

We sat outside, tables were pretty open at 430 on a Saturday (outside is first come, first served). Their menu changes, we were looking for Gluten free options - had the cauliflower crust pizza (pesto on was also nut free) and the wings. I can't say enough about this place. Go early or make a reservation well in advance as it's small and they fill up fast. The food is outstanding and Linda makes an excellent cocktail, along with a great selection of wines. The butter chicken had 5 tiny lumps of chicken My husbands polenta was too salty to eat His 5 Spice ribs tasted like over cooked chuck roast The inside seating is cramped . They seem to be better suited for drinks and pickups than for fine dining. All the drinking people seemed happy! St Simons could use good Indian food this isn't it by a long shot. read more

A great new addition to the St.Simons food scene. Love the cozy space, good drinks menu, reasonable prices, and a fun variety of unique appetizers and entrees. The menu choices so suit this small and intimate setting. Loved the grazing plate. Think of The Nest as the best version of your favorite bar, and Tapas place.
