Booked a quick 1 night stay at the beginning of July and wish we could have stayed longer! Perfect location that allowed us to walk to the lighthouse and to dinner easily. The room was so cute and cozy and was nicely separated from any nearby rooms. The bed was incredibly soft and plush (which I love) although we did find a very small dead spider under the covers at the foot of the bed. Other than that, we really enjoyed our drinks, live music, and the ambiance at the Pub in the evening. While we didn't have a chance to get in the pool it looked beautiful and very refreshing. There was some loud sawing due to maintenance/construction onsite going on during the day but that didn't bother us much as we were out and about until the evening anyways. The pub and motel are picturesque our room has a balcony, robes and slippers, and its Adults Only, so no screaming kiddos as we go to the pool. This is a very small place, not too many eating options (a nice charcuterie board!), but Tuesday nights are the nights to be there! Miss "Sistafun" (Bonita Tanner) brings in her very fun music bingo. There was a full house and she makes the place come alive with her bingo. It takes about 2 hours for 8 different games and it's free! There is a full bar and table service during the games. This place is beautiful. The patio area by the pool is quiet and serene. The room itself was fantastic. Nice bedding. The mini fridge is stocked with beer, wine, sodas and more for purchase. Also mini bottles of different alcohol are available. It also has water that I believe is free. No ironing board but a really nice steamer. The room doesn't have a regular coffee maker but it's always available at no charge in the pub area. It does have a nespresso machine but we couldn't get it to work. The bathroom was also super nice with very good quality soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The free breakfast was great. They even had fresh fruit options. The staff was so friendly and helpful. True southern hospitality. We will definitely come back. I will also mention it's really for an older crowd. My son and his wife stopped by and after talking about how nice it was said they felt a bit out of place. read more

We have wanted to stay here for many years but have had little luck with dates. Finally good fortune with this visit to Saint Simons. Booking on line was simple and confirmation was quick... it did go to SPAM so be on the look out. We did a Friday and Saturday night. Entertainment in the Pub was excellent with an expanded area. Still a small area and if you want to see the performance be early. Walk up ordering at the bar only, the drinks were excellent and prices were fair. We did not try the food that evening but breakfast was better than most that are included in stays. The rooms are small but very well thought out. Very comfortable, great lighting, clean bathroom, plenty of storage areas, and a great in room selection of drinks! Off street parking lot is well positioned and easy access to rooms. The location is awesome near lots of great restaurants, shops, bars and the water. No dogs or children so great for young couples and empty nesters. Really dig this place and its vibe. read more

Looking for a quiet child free getaway, look no further? This little Inn and pub is quaint and provides lovely accommodation with lots of in room amenities like TV, comfy beds with quality linens, a mini bar and a Nespresso coffee maker. We have stayed at this hotel twice both times around March. There's often entertainment on a Saturday night and the breakfast (more continental style) is perfectly sufficient. There is a pub too where you can have a nice drink before going out to eat. The Village Inn and Pub is very close to the ST.Simons downtown shopping area with some quaint little shops and a pier. There's plenty of restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner all within walking distance. The staff are very accommodating. We had a nice one-night stay here. The grounds are very pretty and the courtyard is a pleasant place to linger both in the evening and for breakfast. There is a small swimming pool that we did not try. There's a full bar with a modest number of drafts, and there was live music the night we were there - a drummer and a singer who was playing the keyboards. Music was not bad, some folks were dancing, which me might have been inclined to do as well except that nobody was wearing masks and there was no effort whatsoever at social distancing. The room itself was very comfortable and I would count the place as excellent value for the money. I had a bit of trouble with wi-fi and was unable to contact the front desk because the dedicated line for calling it rang unanswered until voicemail picked up. I asked the bartender about it and it seemed to me that his answer was a bit flip "We've been having trouble with our router all day". But he did get it fixed. And the continental breakfast was tad funky, you make a selection the night before and a bag is waiting for you at the time you designate. Presumably an effort to protect the staff from excessive contact with guests (it can't be an effort to protect guests from,mingling, after all, there was no such effort during the live music). All in all, I give the place four stars, the funky breakfast and lack of COVID prevention when the live music crowd was present make me unable to give a five read more

My wife and I first came here back in May, we had originally planned on staying at Jekyll Island but we found it a little boring after our first night, so we decided to explore St. Simon's instead. We got on the island and went to Frosty's (across the street from this place) and while we were there my wife spotted this inn and fell in love. So we canceled our room at the Jekyll hotel and booked a room here for 3 nights. We loved the rooms. We stayed in room 112 "The Betsy" which has a balcony facing Mallery St., which is really cool. The rooms are set up old-style Key West, very nicely appointed, and extremely clean. All rooms are spacious and just give you a feeling of really being immersed in the whole St. Simon's experience. Free cable and wifi, free coffee early til late, continental breakfast (during Covid it's been brown bag but still adequate). The location is excellent, within a few minutes walk of the village and pier, right in the middle of great shopping and restaurants. You really don't need to leave the area and can walk just about anywhere you need to go. There are many restaurants, shops, a liquor store less than 30 seconds walk away, bars, pubs, parks. Just a really fabulous location. The staff and management are excellent, everyone here is very accommodating. There is a small pub off the lobby which is quaint and has a full bar and a great bartender named RB who is a favorite among guests and even locals frequent the pub. Everyone on the island knows this inn and pub and everyone speaks highly of both. The rates are very good for the location and access to so many local attractions. The pool is in shade most of the daytime and feels really good on a hot island day. We have now stayed in 2 different rooms and loved them both. The only issue we have is none of the rooms have a fridge or microwave. That's sometimes inconvenient especially when you have drinks you want to keep cold or have leftovers. The other issue we had was our bicycles were stolen off the inn property, from behind the lobby main building, and out of site of the road. They did have a camera and we filed a police report and the police came by and did a report, and hopefully will find the thieves. So that was a real bummer and let the air out of our sails. Bikes were locked up so I suppose when we buy new bikes we will either lock them in our room, or maybe just rent bikes next time. Unfortunate as we'd rather bring our own bikes and not have to spend money on rentals everyday, so that was about a $350 loss. (Update to this bike theft, they did offer to rent us bikes for our stay, and have communicated with the police, neighbors and other locals to try to find our bikes, which we really appreciate. My bike was one I bought on the navy base in Key West so it really hurt to lose that bike, though!) So even though our bikes were stolen and there is no room fridge, the staff and grounds and location and amenities really make it a great experience, so I'm going to give them 5 stars. Not really blaming the inn for the bike theft but maybe in the future they can make different accommodations for guests with bikes, which they said they would. We will definitely return hopefully many times and highly recommend to all. Oh and as an aside, while the inn is kid friendly its mostly a mature older clientele. read more

Really enjoyed our 3 days here. Staff and house keepers were great. Live music each night in the Pub was great. Breakfast offerings was below average for cost of stay this could be much nicer. The property has some age on it but was pretty well maintained. We had mosquitoes in our room each night we had to deal with. The bathroom in the suite was a very space. The location is perfect for walking to local shops and eateries. The pool was refreshing after a day at the beach. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly and wanted to make sure we had a good stay and experience. read more

The location of the Inn is perfect for anything you would want to do on SSI. Our room was on the second floor, which we preferred rather than have people overhead. The outdoor area is nice, with a small pool and seating. Our room smelled highly of cleaning products, but fortunately after we ran the air conditioning on high, the odor went away. The room is small, but it was sufficient for what we needed for the night. The bar is a nice plus and they make the best chocolate martini. Lots of locals come for drinks and are very friendly. After quite a few years of saying that I'm going to one day stay at the Village Inn and Pub I finally followed through this past weekend; and could not have been more pleased. Making the reservation online was quick and easy, check-in was a breeze, finding the room was effortless, and everything else couldn't have been better. The staff working at the Village Inn and Pub were super friendly when we had to interact with them at check-in, breakfast, getting pool towels, and at checkout. They were very efficient and friendly, making sure they treated us very well. The room we stated in was upstairs on the 2nd floor. It was a very nice roomy room with 2 queen beds. When we arrived the room was very clean and smelled great; everything was ready for us. We had plenty of towels, toiletries, and space in the room. The location of the Village Inn and Pub can not be beat; right in the heart of the pier village, making it easy to walk everywhere. Not quite a boutique hotel and definitely not a motel so hard to define this charming, cozy well located Inn. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The entrance and sitting area of the pub offer great ambience especially with a crackling fire going. This place exudes CHARM. Although the pub doesn't serve food it doesn't matter since it's located in the center of town and you just walk out the front door and have several restaurants in walking distance. We started and finished our evenings in the pub by the fire...feels a bit European, we miss it. Our room was on the small side but we had a sweet balcony overlooking the pool so it more than made up for the size. We highly recommend staying here and we can't wait to return. We only wish we had a small fridge in our room, sigh but not a deal breaker. read more

This is our second year visiting and I'm a firm believe that a small business can be ruined by a bad review so as I'm giving a 5 start review I will also clarify. I have nothing but great things to say about the property, the rooms, the staff...but it's a shame that some guests can't respect rules. This property claims to be a non-smoking property but I had to constantly smell a group's cigarette smoke. I don't think they left the pool the entire visit. We weren't able to use the pool more than about 30 minutes because one group chain smoked. I'm extremely intolerant of smoke, it makes me vomit, lose my voice and feel miserable for days. I only book smoke-free properties. We were offered $20/day discount and I really didn't want any sort of discount I just wanted to enjoy the pool that we spent so much time at last year. The staff struggled with disobedient guests and it truly put a damper on our trip. The staff asked them multiple times to go to a smoking area and the smokers wouldn't agree. I heard them say "I don't give a F***. I don't listen. What are they going to do? I don't feel comfortable as a guest asking another customer to follow rules. I feel like it should have been enforced without me calling multiple times. I spent majority of my time in the room feeling sick from the smell. Guests were also smoking on the balcony below and next to us so we were unable to enjoy the balconies majority of our stay. We signed a non-smoking agreement at checkin, so I'm not sure why these folks didn't "know" the rules. It's frustrating to say the least, this isn't a cheap trip, nor did we want a cheap trip. This was our anniversary trip and it just doesn't compare to the previous year. I hope the policies and signage are updated because we plan to return to this property for many years to come. This is one of the cleanest, best smelling rooms, and the most romantic getaways I've ever been on. I've recommended this place to everyone we know. We truly love the island and particularly this property. I have really tried to structure this review for constructive criticism because I wouldn't change a single thing about the resort, I will continue to recommend and I do know that you can't pick your customers. read more

I rarely find a place to rest my head that is 5 star worthy, however for MY more quiet solitary needs this Inn is fabulous. It has won well-deserved awards from both Coastal Living & Southern Living mags as well as awards for Environmental design, construction and management. The Inn is small, 28 rooms, and has a lovely small pool in a charming courtyard. The beds are comfortable, the bath finished in large granite tile, altho no refrig nor minibar. Some deluxe rooms have beautiful king beds and small private balconies with cafe table for 2. Other rooms looking onto pool courtyard have their own cafe tables off the common walkway. The Pub is small w/ a stone fireplace, live music on weekends, and great bartenders. The beautiful mahogany bar serves as a sideboard for the sumptuous breakfast included w/ room fee. We did not love our stay here at the Village Inn and Pub. We did not realize this was a geriatric get-away spot, and as two young adults (early 30's) with a 1 year old, we felt really out of place/unwelcome. The room smelled, as well as the mini fridge they gave us. The pool was dirty, even despite us having to clean it ourselves. At night the older guests would get rowdy in the bar and then yell outside of our room. The older guests were leaving cigarette butts all around the pool too. I asked for a high chair for my son to eat his breakfast and was told they didn't have one. An older guest during breakfast even whispered (loudly) to her husband "why bring a baby here"?- or something to that effect. This place is not baby friendly. The funny thing is, my 1 year old was better behaved than the 70 year olds. He probably has a cleaner diaper too. read more

Small small fridge but no microwave nor in room coffee/tea **I read about the pub being loud, I actually didn't mind the music and there wasn't any loud people but I will say if you're a light sleeper and your room is upstairs bring a sound machine. Whatever is falling from the trees - nuts branches etc they fall all night (and day) and roll down. Which once you get used to isn't bad. Location: great location, everything is walkable. Restaurants, stores, beach, lighthouse. Or better yet rent a bike or golf cart down the street and see more of the island Staff: always friendly. Asking how I am and how am I doing. It was very nice and appreciated Covid: this is where a star was dropped. No staff wore a mask. Not inside nor outside. I wouldn't let housekeeping in at all as they were not wearing masks. Check in - no masks whatsoever same with check out. That really put me off. But considering the majority of the island thinks this way, it's not surprising. Only a handful of stores actually seemed to care about Covid and the spread of it. I'm sure after things calm down in a year or so this whole town will be a nice place but if you're Covid conscience and being Covid safe this hotel isn't for you. I wish I had known that prior to booking but no one mentioned anything about it and it was my fault for thinking every one was being safe about the spread of Covid. I'm sure a chain hotel (that's also a third of the cost) is being Covid safe. Had I to do this over I would definitely book at a chain hotel and feel safer (and pay a lot less). Rooms aren't equipped with tea or coffee so you have to go into the pub to get them, which again no one is wearing masks and everyone is touching the same items and breathing on them. I bleached everything when I arrived and Lysoled all bedding just to make sure, then as I brought my food into the room I disinfected items again Overall would I return to the hotel. Probably once Covid is gone but in reality I probably wouldn't return to SSI unless it was for work (which this was this time). It's not my cup of tea (as far as people and things to do) read more

We truly discovered a charming and historical (1930's) hotel that is a gem! Having briefly stayed here in February, we returned this month and what a pleasurable stay! We were accommodated with a late arrival (with thanks Kate). We were provided a room with a balcony overlooking the pool! Being our anniversary - we truly appreciated both the accommodations and hospitality provided to us. The room was charming with a bit of history also noted (Edo Miller). After a fun day at Cumberland Island, our evening ended with refreshing visit to the pool - a chilled pool to assist with the current August heat index! The pub opens at 5 most days, Saturdays at 5 for college football. Walking distance to the pier and all the shops and restaurants. We visited on our anniversary. So first off, I was told the balcony awnings would be replaced soon. They need it and the entire balcony needed a good cleaning. Dirty towels were left on our patio from the previous tenants. Second night never refreshed the towels just hung up our old ones. We were never aware until the last day that there was omelette available. On the positive side of things, the bartender RB was amazing. The room was clean. Great location, enjoyed our visit. The location is perfect - right on the edge of town with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself is quiet and quaint and has free Wi-Fi and a large parking lot. There's a good continental breakfast in the morning and the pub is perfect for a relaxing drink at the end of the day. Trivia Night on Wednesday is lots of fun.
