This used to be called Woolley's Steakhouse when we dined here 5 years ago for our anniversary and I gave it a 4-star rating back then. We had a great experience then so we decided to come back for my sister-in-law's 70th birthday. It was a Sunday, and there were only 2 other tables occupied, so I thought that was a bit strange. We sat ourselves at a table for 4 and the hostess greeted us with a smile and an exuberant charm taking drink orders and bringing water. Nice start. While we waited for drinks we noticed that it was cold and drafty in the 5-story atrium where we sat so I checked around and noticed that all the tables were similarly drafty. About 10 minutes later, a different server appeared, and I asked if the temperature could be raised slightly and she said no, but later brought me a blanket - a nice gesture. Our drinks finally arrived and she asked if were ready to order, but we were not, so she said she'd be back in a few minutes. Well, it had to be 20 - 30 minutes later when we began looking for her and could not find her. After a while longer, I went to the bar and asked someone to send her to our table to place our order. She then appeared immediately. When I asked how the red-eye rib eye was prepared, she said with coffee... what? Is that a rub; is there a wine or pan sauce, I asked? "No wine and no sauce", she said, but my wife encouraged me to try it. After all, we had had such a great meal 5 years ago and the website says the same chef was still here so I said okay, I'll try it with Bearnaise sauce-glazed broccolini. The other 3 guests all had the 10 oz filet and my wife ordered the loaded baked potato side. Apparently, due to COVID, the salad bar is gone that had been included with all dinners on our last visit. We all ordered either soup or salad that arrived about 15 minutes later. My 1/2 wedge salad was smaller than I expected but tasted good nonetheless. My wife's French Onion soup tasted like canned beef broth. About 30 minutes later, our steaks arrived. My red-eye rib eye looked flabby with some kind of yellow-brown coating that was not appetizing. I thought maybe it was the Bearnaise sauce broiled on top as there was no Bearnaise on the broccolini so I asked for some. When the busboy brought it over, it was thin and watery so I didn't eat it. My rib eye had so much fat that after I cut it all off, I had about half the 16 oz steak left. My wife's loaded potato tasted old like it had been sitting in a steam table for hours. The steaks were not properly grilled and the sides seemed as if they were either precooked or kept warm. We did get a free dessert to share that was quite good, but the service was so slow that it added to the disappointment of our meals as we constantly had to ask the busboy to send our server to our table. I left very disappointed after 2 1/2 hours of a 3-course meal costing over $300! We'll not be returning to this once great steakhouse! read more

Wonderful atmosphere for unwinding after a long day in Minneapolis. I stay at the Hilton this restaurant is located in and every meal I have had is exceptional. Stayed at Embassy Suites for the night so we were closer to the airport for our flight the next day. When trying to decide on dinner for the night we saw Woolley's was just downstairs. We ended up getting room service from there. The food was delivered quickly and was hot upon arrival. Had the pretzel for an appetizer which were hot and soft. The MN Cheesesteak sandwich was good as well. My wife enjoyed the Beet Salad with salmon on top. Would definitely stay there again and eat at Woolley's. read more

The only negative thing I can say about this place is that it had closed when we arrived... at 11:45PM on a Tuesday. Which was too bad, given that we'd had a four hour delay (thanks United Airlines and their poor scheduling stewardship). Fortunately, I was spending four nights at the Embassy Suites, so there were two opportunities to partake in this place (one of those nights I was so exhausted by a trip to the Mall Of America that I crashed upon returning to the hotel). The first of those nights was filled by having two craft beers with my boss, where we had a fierce conversation (TM) about what the future held. The second (and last) night I had had an array of food truck offerings in downtown Minneapolis, so I wasn't hungry upon returning, but I allowed myself a cheesecake and a stout of some sort. Server Anton made a couple of suggestions, but realized I was just interested in dessert and a chaser, and acted accordingly. In addition to Anton I made friends with a couple who lived nearby and regaled me with stories of the area. Cheers may be the place where everyone knows your name, but Woolley's is the place that I actually experienced such on-the-spot love. I only wish I'd allowed time to have dinner here, as the aromas that emanated were enticing enough to make me *want* to eat something more. Perhaps next time... read more

I was in the mood for some prime rib and found this place in my search. This place caught my eye from some of the pictures I saw on Yelp. The fact that it was located in a hotel got me a little curious, also I rarely go into a hotel just to try the food. I ordered a rare prime rib with grilled asparagus and an add on of shrimp scampi. The Grilled Asparagus was good but kind of lacking in the grilled flavor. The Shrimp Scampi was great. Flavors and the texture of the shrimp were spot on for me. The shrimp were nice and firm almost bouncy like, for me a great sign of a perfectly cooked shrimp. And I got a wonderful citrus flavor from the shrimp which is refreshing. My Rare Prime Rib was excellent. Tasted like good quality beef cooked to tender greatness. But I did have one complaint and that was the last few bites of my Prime Rib were very salty and that to me was off putting. However my meal ended off on a good note, I had an excellent Creme Brulee. The top wasn't too burnt, just caramelized to the right level of sugary goodness. And the rich cream hiding beneath the surface was fantastic. I also loved that the Creme Brulee came some raspberries and whipped cream. Another thing that impressed me was the service. The staff were friendly and I had some good interactions with them. My husband and I love Woolies. We got married at the Embassy Suites and had Woolies cater our wedding back in 2016, and since then this restaurant has been held close to our hearts. Staying in Minneapolis for the night to fly out back to SF tomorrow and we figured we would stay near the airport. We like Embassy suites but when I realized the hotel had a restaurant I figured I'd give it a try. DELICIOUS. Excellent service as far as taking the order and bringing it up. We ordered the French onion steak bites, 2 Cesar salads. A side of truffle fries and a Margarita flatbread, spaghetti for the kids and a slice of cheesecake (hey, we wanted to try it all!) it was to die for and the portion sizes were massive. It hardly looked like we touched anything. The cocktails from the bar were also fantastic. Well made and heavy on the alcohol which I always appreciate for the price. price of the food was also reasonable! Overall the food quality far exceeded my expectations! read more

This restaurant is located inside the Embassy Suites near the MSP airport. Having just finished a 2-week stay at that hotel, I am probably an expert now on Woolley's restaurant! :) They just finished a total remodel of the main floor of the hotel, which included Woolley's. (I had also been there previously, before and during the remodel.) They did a very nice job of the remodel. Woolley's now has a bar/dining area tucked in one corner of the main floor, and then another dining section that extends out into the atrium of the Embassy Suites. As a bar, they have a full and good selection of wine, beer and spirits. I'm mostly a beer drinker, and appreciated the selection of local brews available. The bar area has seating at the bar, at a number of tables, and a few booths off to one side that offer some nice privacy. I found all the bartenders and servers to be friendly and attentive. Special kudos to Anton; he really knows how to take care of his patrons and make them feel welcome. The menu is kind of what you would expect at a hotel restaurant: a little something for everyone, and nothing too wild or crazy. But everything I tried was quite good, and found the variety to be enough to keep me coming back. As others have written, their steaks are very nice. Additionally the burgers and sandwiches are all quite good. I particularly would recommend their burger, and stick with their house-made chips rather than upgrading to the fries. The chips have a sort of waffle cut, and man are they tasty. I was addicted to them! I also liked very much their buffalo wings (actually hot!), the flatbreads, and the pastas. The prices are average for a good restaurant. Not cheap, but mid-range. Parking shouldn't ever be an issue, as the hotel has a very large parking lot. Even if you aren't staying at this hotel, the Woolley's is worth a visit. read more

We dined on a Monday night so it wasn't very busy. Our server was very nice. I had the Black and Bleu Pasta was fantastic! I had it without the bleu cheese crumbles. It was spicy and so delicious! Two of us had the salad bar, it was good. Your run of the mill selections. The Chicken Caprisi was good; had a very strong wine flavor to it. The Cheesecake was good. I wouldn't recommend the Carrot Cake as it didn't have a lot of flavor. Will definitely be back. read more

On a business trip I had the opportunity to dine at this establishment and found that the food is spectacular. I only wish my stay was longer so I could sample more items on the menu. I started the meal with one of my favorite appetizers "French Onion Soup" which was one of the best I have ever tasted. Next came the Lamb chops which where cooked to my tastes, rare. Surprisingly good hotel restaurant. Decor not much to look at. It's basically in the atrium of the Embassy Suites hotel (which itself has seen better days.) However, the food was excellent and the service was okay. I had a steak. it was cooked properly. the "classic" topping (Blu cheese, bacon, etc.) was very good. Asparagus was beautifully cooked. bread was good. They forgot my request to swap out the potato and made a mistake on a colleague's order--but they comped her a free dessert to make up for it. Despite this restaurant being in the burbs and in a hotel, they know how to prepare excellent food and to serve their patrons well. I've been here a few times (I forget to check in) and I've yet to be disappointed with the meal. Now "Woolley's Steak House" in the Embassy Suites Airport. Totally remodeled and new menu all revised with more of an ala carte style. The bar area is bigger and much more inviting. The true restaurant section is all on an elevated area in the atrium.The food and service has always been exceptional . I had a Caesar salad and Mussels ( on appetizer section) for dinner. The mussels had small amount of thick cured bacon in the broth for a great smoked flavor but not heavy- I ate all of it! The Hen house burger was delicious and too big for my husband. 2 1/2 stars is fair. Ate in the bar so I could watch NFL kickoff. Ordered a flat iron steak medium with a baked potato and a beer. Steak came out medium rare and was tiny. Tasty despite not quite medium doneness. Got the bill and they had charged me $18 for a 5 ounce steak instead of $24.95 for the 10 ounce that was on the menu. Mentioned it to the waitress/bartender. She said it was her fault, she entered it in wrong. I was still hungry so I said I would pay the difference if she brought me another. Long wait, finally another 5 oz steak arrived, medium well plus. Bill came and was somewhat higher than $24.95 plus a beer. Bartender busy and not available to discuss while I waited at the bar. Eventually she showed up. I showed her the bill and explained what I thought it should be. She said it was her fault. While on a recent business trip to Minneapolis, I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Bloomington by the airport and had dinner at their on-site restaurant Wooley's Steakhouse. I wasn't in the mood for steak and found a great selection of other dishes on their menu. The waitress was very pleasant and recommended I try the walleye fish, which is local to the area. My walleye was grilled (or sauteed) and served with spinach and wild rice and was very tasty. I had also ordered a side of their mac and cheese, which was tasty but the bits of bacon cooked in it was mainly pieces of chewy fat and not meaty. Still tasty, nonetheless. For dessert I had their molten chocolate cake with ice cream. It was served with barely a partial scoop of ice cream and raspberry puree around the plate. Would have been better had there been more ice cream. Overall it was a good experience, considering how convenient it was to eat in the hotel where I was staying and not have to go out in -10 weather. I'd for certain eat there again! read more

There was some confusion from my friends about where exactly the restaurant was located. It would be helpful if there was some sort of more visible signage outside of the hotel indicated that Woolley's is located inside. One of my friends ended up calling and asking for directions from the hotel parking lot "Just come on in Sir". After all of us arrived our server was very friendly about explaining the restaurant week menu. Walleyed done 3 ways was ordered while my boyfriend and I went with the upgraded option of Surf and Turf and Filet Mignon. Even the medium rare beef was overdone more than we liked. The food was decent but pretty pricey. Honestly we've never been super impressed with restaurants located within hotels. I guess I read that this one is independently operated but I've had better quality steak for less in other restaurants in the cities. It was also odd that we got a private conference room. It would have been cooler to dine in the main area with foliage (not sure if they were real). There was this weird buzzing noise initially from the speakers but our server noticed and either was able to turn it off or I just got so used to it that I filtered out the horror movie-ish background music. I saw an earlier photo of a creme brulee from restaurant week with a smaller portion than what we got from the same restaurant. Soup and entree portions were on the smaller end so not sure why we were rewarded with the surplus for dessert but I'll take it. read more

This is a rather small restaurant inside of a hotel near MOA in MN. When I was there the service, although a little slower, was understandable since it seemed our waitress was the only waitress for all the tables. So down to what really matters, the food. I got the lamb chop based off another review I saw on Yelp. The chops, although ok, were by no means great. They were slightly overcooked but in the end were ok. My business parter got a steak. He ordered it Med-rare and it came out closer to rare. He seemed to like it so the temp was not a deal breaker. Wings were wings, nothing special. It is located in the Embassy Suites surrounded by lush greenery giving you a sense that you're in a peaceful garden. What a great place to go to eat and relax (would also make a nice date), especially in the middle of winter. Overall, the food was decent. I had the clam chowder soup - good flavor although I like mine more creamy and rich, Spring salad with a refreshing light flavor of lemon vinaigrette, top Sirloin - decent although slightly small serving and lobster ravioli. Service was not good. Had a table in a corner. Food was plopped down in front of me with no word. No one came to ask how my meal was. Salt and pepper shakers set down half way through meal with no comment. Had to wait for my card to be picked up and waited forever for my bill to be returned and then it was slid onto table between partitions. Food was ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. Prices reasonable.
