Every time I buy these as a present for my mom she loves them. The staff is always kind and friendly. I would recommend these to anyone.

From chocolate to "vintage" candies and hard to find favorites, this place has something for your sweet tooth. It's really temptation on steroids. Delectable. If I were the owner, I'd offer a membership or subscription service because it's a place to return to.

They have everything from handmade truffles, giant Rice Krispy squares, vintage sodas, unique gifts, and more. As other reviewers said, this place can definitely be overwhelming, but the cheerful and friendly staff is very attentive and great at guiding confectionary connoisseurs through the wide ranging selection. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list! It takes five minutes, and they'll give you a pound of high quality gummy bears in quirky flavors like grapefruit and blueberry for free, just as a thank you! Every dollar you spend equals a point, and certain numbers of points add up to rewards, like free chocolate bars and truffles. This is super worthwhile, because the candy is on the expensive side, and a discount will make your visit even sweeter!

She took orders AND made the sandwich, coffee, etc. Also, parking right out front but NO handicap spots! Had to park in what looked like a commute lot, then walk up a long steep hill to get to the cafe. And back down the long steep hill... We won't be returning

Mocha Frappe - The consistency of water and overly sweet. No coffee taste--just sugar and disappointment. Pizza - Dough was raw. Not undercooked--floppy, wet, bite-into-slime raw. We spent nearly $40 on this. We don't live nearby, so coming back wasn't easy but the quality was so bad, we felt like we had no choice. When we returned, we were told we couldn't get a refund without a receipt (which we were never given). Their solution? Complimentary food. As if we'd want more of what we couldn't even eat or drink the first time! This wasn't a cash order, and we were back within the hour--should've been simple to locate in the system. Instead, the employee seemed reluctant to do the work. He ripped a long string of receipts (presumably meant for other customers) and tossed it aside before heading to the back. All the while making it seem like WE were the inconvenience. After some pushback and attitude, we were finally refunded $30 of the $37--and they definitely made a point to take the food back like we were trying to scam them. Service: 0/10 (real training needed) Drinks: 0/10 (no coffee flavor) Food: 0/10 (just -- ick) Not worth the drive, the money, or the hassle. There are too many decent spots to waste your time here. You could even just drive to another Caffè Nero but consumer beware at this one.

"Well, I never kept a dollar past sunset It always burned a…read morehole in my pants Never made a school mama happy Never blew a second chance, oh no I need a love to keep me happy Baby, baby, keep me happy" (Jagger & Richard) When you walk into Van Leeuwen, look to the wall on the left side of the seating area. You'll see big painted letters, illuminated by lights as if a divine revelation from the Lord above that reads "A Life Without Anything Good is Bad". Van Leeuwen's website takes that thought even further with this - "What could be happier than that magic combination of milk, cream, eggs, and cane sugar (or coconuts, cashews and oats for our vegan friends)? Yes, our ice cream has fat. And that's okay. It's good-good, not good-bad". OK, that kind of gets your expectations up for some great ice cream, and Van Leeuwen sure delivered on that expectation. Their ice cream experience starts with the large amount of floor space their store occupies. It's a big open space with pretty yellow and pink and woodgrain color schemes. The ordering area is spacious, as is their dining area if you want to gobble up your cones and cups inside the store. Their business model is crushing it, considering they've only been around since 2008, but already have 34 stores in New York, 13 in California, 3 in New Jersey, 8 in Texas, 5 in Pennsylvania, 2 in Colorado, 4 in (downstate) Connecticut, 7 in Washington D.C., 4 in Massachusetts, one in Florida, 2 in Nashville, and dozens more coming soon across the continent. When I was checking out their flavors, I saw another sign that read "If you have a mouth, we have a flavor". There were 16 regular, 6 vegan, and three special flavors on the menu board yesterday, so that's a very nice selection. I went with a cup of a special flavor - "Sweet Corn Blueberry Jam" with a dark chocolate curl topping. It was wonderful. I truly tasted more blueberry than sweet corn in the dish, but those itty-bitty ribbons of dark chocolate were fantastic. Van Leeuwen is not the least expensive ice cream shop I've seen, but it sure is one of the more fun places to visit, and their ice creams are great.
