Structured Cabling at its finest. Rick and Ashley at Workman Communications are incredible! It takes a lot to impress me, as many times what you end up with is just mediocre. Not with Workman. From the start, I could tell they were different. Communication, understanding, relationship, knowledge...all the things you look for when bidding a job, Rick and his team do very well. They do the right things, not just do things right. If you've been in Facilities for any length of time, you know what I mean. Rick came in and actually saved me money. Nice try flagging my post! Not going to work. I triple checked and yes, you were the guy and that's your company. I have records that reflect that. You know exactly what I'm talking about and the stuff you said in your response is patently false. My advice: save a ton of money and get far better work from another company. --- I would never EVER use this company again. Yup, we paid tens of thousands of dollars and they didn't deliver on the promises they made. Then when we asked about why our apple products (MacBook Pro) were not working, he told us the work was for PCs and MacBooks are too finicky. Um, you should have mentioned that before right? Especially when we told you we use a lot of apple products. When we were going to pay him a huge chunk of change for him to fix his mistake, he proceeded to make racist comments about Asians, and only held back and bit his tongue when he realized I may not be a be a fan of his rhetoric. So, to summarize, they do poor work, don't deliver on what's promised, and then make racist comments. Plenty of better companies out there that are FAR cheaper and BETTER - which we did. Rick Workman and his crew came to our house a few years ago and installed our new entertainment system for us. We thought they did a great job. Just before we were leaving for a trip to the east coast the sound on our system quit working. So I called to get them to come fix it and they told me they don't do residential anymore, not even to support their previously installed systems. So I revised my Yelp review to reflect the lack of support Workman provides. Rick called me a few weeks later while we were away and said he'd "make an exception" in my case if I would remove the updated review. I agreed and took it down. Big mistake!! Weeks later when we arrived home, Rick claimed I didn't click on a link in an email he'd sent me (which I did) and so was not on the schedule. Apparently talking to him directly and being assured by him directly that he would take care of it was not enough. Anyway, the bottom line is that Rick Workman does not stand behind their work and if you've had a system installed by them, you won't be getting any support in the future. Very disappointed in Workman. So if you've had Rick Workman install your residential system and he stiff-arms you like he did us, call Josh at JC Smart Homes. He'll take care of you. Our TV would not stop turning on and off unless the power source was pulled. The starter was probably blown during a power surge. So we started to shop for a new TV. Workman Communications came out to diagnosis the problem and suggest new TVs we could use for a replacement. They gave us quotes for replacements and I noticed that their pricing was comparable with Costco or Best Buy. We ultimately bought from somewhere else and had them install the new TV. They were an easy group to talk to. I believe their have fair pricing for labor and parts. They did not try to up sale anything to us. I am still deciding which company I'll choose to install a new security system...and, saving up for it!! They are all pricey, but, really having peace of mind is so priceless. They not only took my info, but, then emailed me the estimate! Great for us short term memory challenged folks! LOL They gave me a lower estimate (about $200 less than the other two companies I contacted), and must be doing very well as they told me they are currently booked out about 6 weeks. It's a shame we need such security to live in peace and safety nowadays. Ashley, the office administrator was great in giving the estimate. Very professional business!! I've taken several large unexpected financial hits this year, so, I am saving and wishing to upgrade, soon. The house we bought had surround sound in it previously, however we were missing one crucial center speaker and a subwoofer. I found Rick Workman here on Yelp and contacted him to get a quote to install our 60" flat screen TV above our fireplace and to get the surround sound system to work. Rick was great in the beginning. He showed up on time for the quote, let me know what he could do, and let me know what products we needed to buy (and also what he would provide). He gave us suggestions on what products to buy and didn't just recommend the highest priced one (after all, we were buying it from Best Buy, not from him, so it's not like he was making commission off of anything). For the products he was providing, I did some price searching later and he didn't charge us extra for them. On the day of installation, we hit a few snags with the subwoofer we already had (it was too old so we had to buy a new one last minute), but other than that, the installation by Rick and his assistant were great. I was a little bummed that he said at first we would have the speakers in the master bedroom upstairs connected to the system and for whatever reason it didn't get done, but I soon realized that I would never use it anyway, so I got over that. The TV is perfectly mounted and the wires are all inside the wall, so it looks so amazingly clean. Our receiver, PS3, remote hub, and satellite receiver are all in the cabinet so they are out of sight too. They mounted new speakers outside and it was awesome to be able to hear sports games, TV and radio outside. All in all, a great experience at first. The reason I only gave three stars is because I feel kind of neglected as a customer now that the system is installed and the job is "done". Rick told us if we have any questions after to feel free to email or text him. At first, any questions were answered right away and most suggestions to get things working were spot on. Usually it was receiver questions, but he was always able to tell me via text or email how to resolve my issue. He also said he lives in the same area as us so if we ever needed help with our system, he's always a short drive away. Then our subwoofer went out. I had turned it down slightly because our newborn's Pack N Play was really close to it. When I emailed Rick to see if he could come take a look, he gave me some suggestions on what to do (i.e. "reset" the subwoofer and receiver). I did his suggestions and it still didn't work so I emailed him again to see if he could stop by. I never got a response. We have also been having problems with our outdoor speakers working, but it was an issue with the receiver. We couldn't get very many radio stations in, the USB part wouldn't work so we couldn't get any MP3 players to work, Pandora stopped working, etc. We were pretty much down to just the TV working (the radio, MP3 player and Pandora were all working in the beginning). Again, his recommendation was to "rest" the receiver. We tried that with no success and when I contacted him again about the issue, he said he would contact Yamaha (our receiver brand) to see if they are having any issues on their end. The last email I got from him said that Yamaha said they were having updating issues and that it should be resolved soon and he will get back to me. I never heard back after that. Almost a year after our system was installed, we had to have the stucco re-done on the exterior of our house, and of course it was the wall that the speakers were on that Rick and his assistant installed. The electrician re-installed them and when he left, the speakers were working (with just the TV setting though, nothing else). A day later the speakers stopped working. I contacted Rick again (now several months later from the last time I had contacted him) and this time I was willing to pay to have him come check the subwoofer and outdoor speakers as I just want our system to work. It has been almost two weeks since I sent him an email to ask how much it would cost to have him come out to look at these issues and still have not gotten a response. I feel like the initial install was great and when he was done, everything was wonderful. However, the promises of texting, emailing, or stopping by should we have any problems after were just false advertising... Now I'm going to have to find another surround sound person to come out since I can't get a response. I'm hoping that if I write a review on here maybe it will help me get a response (and should the issue be resolved, I would most definitely edit my review and rating). But I don't feel like I should have to go to these measures to get a response from someone... read more

Rick Workman is the best contractor I have ever had work for me. I have used Workman Communication for both home and business needs. For the home, Rick and his team provide any and all services around home theater, home security, and low voltage wiring. At my house, they have installed TVs in by living room and bedroom of my old house and now living room and bedroom of my new house. They did the necessary wiring to get a wired internet connection to the TV and also installed speakers and set everything up for maximum performance. Cables and cords are hidden and everything is very professionally done. For my business, Workman Communications did all of the cabling in a new office we moved into, running about 40 runs of cable to various offices and cubicles. Everything was neatly secured to walls in the server room and all connections tested before job completion. We have used Rick several times when we needed additional runs or other changes around the office. He also installed a TV in our conference room and has assisted with our security cameras. The thing I like best about Workman Communications is that Rick Workman is a real straight shooter. Super thrilled with Ashley, Rick and his crew. Great communication, on-time, and very knowledgeable. The equipment is great too. Everyone was polite and the work areas were kept very clean. Installation took an entire day (8 cameras, single story) which is something non-pros should consider before attempting to DIY. Plenty of time was spent getting the camera angles right too. There's a lot more to it than running wires ... Rick called to follow up which was appreciated (something businesses could stand to do more of). And finally, the spouse loves them way more than she thought - which is a huge bonus. I already recommended them to several friends. A++ Update: Unfortunately, one of the cameras is having some issues after a few weeks. No big deal. I sent Workman an email and it was answered the next business day! They ordered a new camera from the manufacturer and already have a date to replace it next week. That's pretty awesome service in my world. Security Cameras are worth the money for so many reasons but none more hilarious than going back to watch our cat fall in the pool. It was our first retrieval test and it was really easy. This is a great company. If you need wiring done, don't call anyone else. Your search is over. We've always had Comcast TV but not their Internet. I wanted to upgrade from the slow ATT DSL we've had for the past fifteen years to faster cable. A month ago Comcast came out and said "Your wiring is RG-59 and it won't carry the speeds or bandwidth. If you want it done right, in the house fished through the walls, hire someone to put in RG-6 cable for TV and Internet." I looked on Yelp and saw a number of companies that had good reviews and sent emails to about five of them. None answered except Ashley who works at at Workman. (If you run any kind of company... answer your email!!!) I had a ton of questions to ask (I'm a software engineer so I know a bit about this kind of install) and she had the owner (Rick) call me and he explained everything. They came yesterday and installed three coax "home runs" one to each TV and one to my home-office for the new router (that I'll get from Comcast.) He also installed two Cat-6 cables from my office to each TV so that the Apple TV boxes we have can run directly off the router and not wireless. There were lots of issues with wiring this house due to design. Rick and his foreman spent quite a bit of time walking around scoping out the solutions BEFORE they started work. It was the old "measure twice, cut once" concept. Rick brought five men with him, told them what their job assignments were and started work around 9:00 AM. As I mentioned, there were a number of problems with pulling the cable having to do with how the house was constructed. But Rick didn't see them as problems... he saw them as challenges... and he solved each one. (He has a hundred years of experience in this biz!) This was a big job... it cost me $975. I was amazed that they finished all of this work before noon. Rick and his crew treated our house as if it were his own. He is a perfectionist and didn't want any cable showing if it didn't have to be. He could have cut some corners but didn't. I don't have the words to adequately describe how happy I am with the work this company did. They were polite, they were efficient, they tested the lines to make sure they worked, and they cleaned up all the dust from the drilling and cutting of the wallboard. Rick is the best! I have gone to him from home theater stuff a few times now. At a previous home, we had some outdoor speakers wired and installed. He did such a great job that I contacted him a year later to set up our TV's in our new house! We were moving the day that Rick was set to perform the install. Now, everyone knows how crazy moving day is. Rick offered to come by the old house and pick up our huge 60 inch TV and transport it over to the new house, safely for install. He showed up on time and went above and beyond my expectations. At the new house, I had Rick and his assistant install 3 flat screen TV's. He did a great job, despite hitting a few "fire block" snags in our house. He was able to overcome the issues and install our TV's on the wall. I am very pleased with Workman Communications! I had purchased a new receiver, subwoofer, and wireless speaker for another room and had the another service set it up. It wasn't set up properly, so I looked for a company who could fix the multiple problems - the subwoofer boomed and intermittently lost connection, the audio/visual output was not sync'd, the speakers were not balanced correctly, and the remote control was not set up with all the functions. I needed a complete overhaul of the setup! Eugene did a perfect job and everything works beautifully now. He even fixed a cable that I was told was not working. He is a master at home theater setup and was able to reprogram and connect everything so it's easy to use. He showed up on time, worked until it was completed to my satisfaction, and was very helpful with instructions and suggestions to make the system work to the best capability. He also took care not to scratch the cabinet shelf as he moved the receiver around. Ashley at the company was prompt, efficient, and helpful.
