I found them on Yelp, which is always my go-to vetting site! The company had 302 - 5 star reviews, with some people even having multiple projects performed by them with rave reviews. Search ended. After talking to Josh, company owner, and explaining my needs, he advised me what equipment to purchase. He texted me the links to each one where I could then order on Amazon. He set a date to come out and do the installation as well as provide the cost. Pretty simple and straightforward. Just like I want it. I found him extremely efficient, professional, and courteous. No small talk. Just business. On the appointed day, Josh came on time with two additional employees. They went straight to work. Josh and the worker set up the two cameras in the house, and another employee set up the solar camera/light detector in the back yard. I worked with Joshua several times. The first time was replacing an a/v system for our pool house. He and his assistant did replace it, but our system never quite worked correctly. We had him come out a few months later and, thru his suggestion, purchased addition equipment (an amplifier). He spent several hours trying to connect everything but never got it to work. Our system, prior to having him replace our older a/v system was perfect. We just wanted a newer model system to replace it with. He promised to come back a few days later to troubleshoot again and to connect everything later but never came back. We called and left him several texts. He never even had the courtesy to let us know that he could not fix our system. Again, our system worked perfectly well before he installed a newer model a/v system. Our audio system is a mess now and we need to have another technician out to fix the mess he left. I definitely do not recommend him for any services based on his work on our pool house and would not have him come out to the property. read more

These guys had great service. Removed a giant antenna from our roof and cut it up so we could recycle it. Then we had a leak 4 yrs later and JC came to see if there was anything wrong with the seal. Nothing was wrong but he found another location of a cracked sewer vent. He sealed it up even though it wasn't their responsibility. Josh and his team are excellent, and I highly recommend them. My first call to Josh was for a pretty modest project. I needed a team to help me get a large (82 inch) television out of our van and onto its stand. Josh offered a more than fair price, arrived promptly, and immediately helped out more, deploying nodes for my Eero network. I then asked him if he could assist me with putting up an over-the-air antenna. Rather than try and sell me an over-priced product, he encouraged me to find a well reviewed antenna and amplifier on Amazon, ship them to him, and then he would install. Once again, he went above and beyond, testing all the outlets in our home after finishing the job. Based on these jobs, I decided to let him take on a substantially larger project, installing a full 7.2.6 Dolby Atmos entertainment system in our family room, including in wall speakers, a universal remote, and a no-gap television mount. This was a very large project, that also called for the services of a general contractor to remove a former owner's built-in cabinet, cut-out space in a fireplace, install and match floorboards and patch old walls. The prior owner had also left a lot of out-dated components, and had wiring in place for ceiling speakers throughout the house, but nothing was labeled or organized. Josh referred me to his friend, Levi Ogden, to handle the General Contractor work. Levi has since done a lot of additional work for us, and he too is among the very best. I will review him separately, but he worked closely with Josh, and the results were fabulous. For the entertainment system, Josh made some suggestions for components, but I decided to go more upscale and spend more. He was fine with that, and again, encouraged me to use Internet resources to get all my equipment at prices sharply below retail. This was in contrast to other firms I had contacted, that wanted to sell me all the equipment at full MSRP prices, adding additional cost to the project by doing things like using a custom configured remote control, that would be no better than a good Harmony Hub. My family room system is absolutely incredible, both in terms of how it performs, and it how professionally everything was installed. We are in the process of ordering a custom air-cooled cabinet for the components, and using the services of a top interior design firm. When that work is completed, I will post photos. On my various projects with Josh, I would estimate that he saved me more than $5,000 .. and I got fantastic service. He is aware that we will be doing at least 2 more big projects ... Setting up/powering our in-ceiling speakers for the rest of house, and ultimately building a dedicated home theater. JC Smart Homes will definitely be my AV services firm for this work.
