Cost Plus World Market is one of my ever so favorite places to browse and shop during holidays. They offer a nice variety of wine and beer selections from around the world (of course). I pay attention to the stock - if it's low it must be good ;-). They have unique selections of pasta with the fix in sauces, meat and cheese tray selections, chocolates, coffees, teas plus more interesting edibles. The bath and scents section of the store is my aroma therapy escape. You may not like shopping with me because I sniff and smell on everything soapy or scenty. Housewares and furniture so nice to see and imagine for the interior decorator minds. Also their wall art and accessories section is growing. This newest location has all the great food, decorative and gift items one would expect from Cost Plus. It's a fairly good sized store and has more than the average small furniture pieces. Also, they have both Thanksgiving and Christmas items out for sale, as well. The staff was very friendly and greeted customers on entering the store. This is a fun shop if you're into browsing and buying random, unique items and foods! There's a variety of everything: - food, coffee, tea, seasonings, sauces, candy/chocolate, alcohol from around the world - home goods such as candles, assortment of dresser door knobs, framed art, kitchen essentials, bakeware, mugs, furniture, rugs, pillows - stationary, greeting cards, toys - clothing, jewelry - seasonal items and gifts These are items and brands that you won't typically find at your local Ralph's or Target! There are so many new things I've tried that I come back for as well as many new things I'm planning on trying. I've noticed a few times that there were self serve coffee and/or tea samples towards the back where all the coffees are displayed. Not sure if it's an everyday thing. I would say prices are fair.. Not too pricey, yet not cheap depending on what you're buying. I've seen a few items go on sale randomly. If you sign up for their rewards card, you get points with each purchase and periodically will receive coupons via email! read more

I am completely blown away by the customer service I received today. My boyfriend and I came in an hour before close to do some furniture shopping. I've been looking for a coffee table to fit my living room for weeks and I found the perfect one to fit my aesthetic. If you ever have the chance to shop here, without a doubt ask for Tonya! She made this experience a whole lot more than just shopping for furniture. Not only was she super helpful, but I was having quite a terrible day and her positive attitude & humor definitely brightened up my whole day. She went as far as helping us lug the box to our car. This store has sales associates that seem to hate their job. I was there today and the gentlemen at the cashier was extremely busy helping my husband and I when he called on "Wendy" for help this woman took her time to come and help her teammate, her face and mannerism screamed out " I hate this place". Unfortunately she was not the only person there that seemed miserable the other woman working with Wendy seemed just as unhappy and was nothing but rude to my husband and I. honestly, i much prefer to go to cost plus than pier 1 due to the overall customer experience. staff at cost plus are always very courteous and willing to help. i've purchased online and picked up in store couple of times and it's always been easy! you gotta pick and choose the items / quality, but there are SO many unique pieces at cost plus, you just really gotta know what you're looking for :) we love all of our pieces from cost plus that completes and dresses up our home! read more

This is really a nice looking shop it has many co products. But it is set up a little bit on artsy side it can be hard to find things. I recommend you do some thinking and brainstorming about what are some of the things you want before you go into the store or else you way want to buy everything. Never coming back here. Went here today to buy some candy for the office and I entered the line. No one ahead of me so I was the next one to go. Noticed one lady lingering behind the customers paying. When that register cleared, she went up to to return something. Funny, there is no customer service line. Then I see this older white guy and his wife enter the store from the door and I go the register that just opened and they claim that they were already waiting in line. That's pure BS. Why do you have a line when people can just walk in the door and jump to the next register? It's quite a distance from the front of the line to the next registers so they get there too and the cashier Madeline choose to give them service first. Claiming they were already in the line. WTF? Is that how it works here? Very questionable and racist in my opinion. Don't have a line if all you can do is walk up to the next available register directly from the door. I am sure the cashier could sense I was fuming and I gave her the opportunity to "thank me" for shopping there and reset things. Nothing! It's suppose to be this way at Cost Plus. I guess they put in my place. I leave and have some choice words for her. She tries to talk smack back. However, I am not one of those people that back down and I up the ante. Normally I love Cost Plus, I love the variety, I love the knick knacks for gifting, ect. But today's review is 100% due to the service - or lack thereof. The cashier today, a girl with glasses and pink dyed tipped brown hair had a nasty attitude while assisting me today. I get it, refunds are annoying, but it's no excuse to be so rude and unfriendly. I had purchased a 4 pack of lemonade, and was honestly confused about why the price was much higher than what was listed in the back. Where I had picked it up, it said $1.99, and yes - I double-checked that it was for the right one! You could say I'm being silly for thinking it was that cheap, but Cost Plus has been having a lot of sweet deals lately due to the holiday season, so I assumed it was with that. Plus all the drinks around it were equally priced and had little sale signs here and there. And please do note, there was no indication at all that this price listed was for individual bottles. Actually there weren't even individual bottles available anywhere on the shelf. (This is important!) I had purchased a few things in bulk, and customer service was great at this point in time - same woman - and got back to my car confused about how my total came out so high. I looked at the receipt and it now said $7.96. NOT the $1.99 that was listed. Perplexed, I went back to the cashier to return it - I'm not dropping almost $8 on a FOUR PACK of lemonade. I mostly just wanted to try it out since it was cheaper (it was some kind of rose lemonade?), and believe me, if there really were single bottles for sale at $1.99, I would try it at that price point. But there weren't??? Cashier was extremely rude. Her personality did a total 180, was cold and abrupt, and kept trying to talk over me and my explanation - I wasn't even trying to argue their weird label, I just wanted a refund for false advertising. She continued to be rude, even calling the manager to front desk - not that she/he even showed up - and rolling her eyes at me thinking I couldn't see that. This isn't the Cost Plus I know! What happened??? Your customer service is usually stellar! Just be honest with your customers please??? Not much to ask??? EDIT: I would've taken photos of the label in the back, but I wrote this review after going home. Slipped my mind too since I was in a hurry to begin with, but I hope they can take some responsibility for their weird label and not try to pin this as sensationalism on a loyal customer. I bought a ring for my daughter a couple weeks before Valentine'sDay and when she tried it on it was 1 size too small. I had bought a lot of spices that day along with the ring, and when I looked at the receipt again I thought it was only for the spices and threw it away. On Valentine's Day scraped off the code and price, so when I went to return it there was only the cardboard backing. It said Cost a plus on it. But the store refused to give me credit because it didn't have the SKU on it. It was ONLY $4.99. I was going to buy more things than just another ring. I left upset and sad. I called customer service and they couldn't help me with this either. It's really horrible customer service! read more

I had problem after problem using a giftcard in the store. I mean, it was a whole fiasco. But, the staff at this location were literally the most kind, helpful, and patient people! Tonya and Raven helped me problem solve every time I ran into a new issue, giving me their full attention, and being so incredibly patient! I really like this store. I'm so happy that I don't have to drive to SCP. Since the Fresh and Easy closed, we've been coming to Cost Plus for our British food items again. Who doesn't love going to Cost Plus?! I remember going there as a kid and looking at all the different candies and going bananas! LOL I don't have a Cost Plus near me so when I found out online they carried ONYS (Original New York Seltzer) I was excited since I was looking for a particular flavor that I saw online, when I came into town my sister took me since it's super close to her house! They close very early so we got there just in time! I was disappointed they didn't have the flavor I was looking for but I did stock up on the ones they had, and of course I had to go candy crazy! I love the rice paper candy!! The service is nice and they signed us up for a rewards program since I know my sister will be back since she is looking for an art piece in her room! ^__^ read more

COVID-19 Review: I placed a curbside pick order and the service was excellent. I received both an email and text with clear instructions and parked at the designated spot. The staff answered my call and very quickly delivered my items to my trunk. The gentleman was extremely polite even with the unpleasant weather outside. I plan on getting more items and goodies now that I know I can do it from the safety of my home and car. I recommend this service to everyone! read more

I ordered an item that showed available at the time I online purchased. The next day I got an email saying the item is no longer in stock although I searched for the item and placed a new order and that item went through my bank account and was charged. I got a text and email my item was picked up. I picked my order up and no issues with the order or the nice young gentleman who gave me my order. My issue is I am still getting notifications to pick up my item so I call the store and requested to cancel the duplicate order. Can't remember they young mans name I think it was Tony? From me wanting to simply cancel the duplicate order and then he accused me as a customer, no I am not a Karen but he outright accused me of the item I picked up was never charged. Maybe my conversation was confusing with him but I am highly disappointed with the horrible customer service over the phone this afternoon. I love Your stores and products but sadly the male who answered the phone on 6/18/20 around 3:30 PM at the Irvine Jamboree store wais not equipped to handle a very simple situation rather than accusing me of not being charged and I've checked my account they did deduct for one of the items, the duplicate was never charged. My daughter lives in Newport Beach and I am in Pennsylvania. I ordered some rugs for her and called the store to ensure that the order went through properly. I had the pleasure of speaking with Kyle, who provided absolutely outstanding service. While on the phone, she let me know that she wanted to check the inventory. She called me back and said "I have good news and bad news. The good news is there is no bad news". That made me laugh. And the good news was there was one rug left in stock. She called back a second time to let me know that the second rug was also in stock and also the last one in all of California. I really appreciated her initiative, fun personality, and excellent customer service. Everyone with whom I spoke at that location was wonderful but Kyle went above and beyond to ensure that I was able to get the rugs my daughter was looking forward to purchasing. read more

My tourist specifically requested we go to this store to buy a kitchenware item that was only available here. While we were browsing for it, the items my tourist was interested in did not have price tags, so we had to ask an employee for a price check. It took a while since it was so crowded, and the checkout went kind of slow because they were actively opening up more cash registers. They have a lot of other neat stuff there like dishes, silverware, and household things. (Exactly what is the fox with a spout supposed to hold? Gravy?) The rating is 4 mostly because all of the dishes and plates and things like that felt so close together that we were afraid of moving around, bumping into them, and knocking them over. (We have big purses, so we ended up shuffling around side to side.) read more

Typically I love this store but I had a really bad experience just now that I thought worth telling others about. I purchased a bath mat from the Mission Viejo location and decided I liked that same mat in a different color. I had made the mistake of thinking I liked the one I had, commiting to it, and taking the tags off and throwing the receipt out. I then saw the other color online and decided I wanted that one instead so I purchased that one online thinking there would be no problem returning the current one I had since it had only been a couple of weeks. I called the Mission Viejo store I purchased it from and spoke to someone named Elaine, who was very friendly, and told me as long as the rug is returned within 60 days and is in "sellable condition," I can return it and that they would be able to look me up by my phone number or my credit card since I had no receipt. Well, I got off work early and realized there was a World Market (this location I'm reviewing) on my way home. I just tried returning it and the sales associate wasn't sure if she should take my item back so she called who I assume to be her manager and that woman just literally told me no despite me explaining I had spoken to another sales associate at the Mission Viejo store who said otherwise. I just got home and literally looked up their return policy and NOWHERE does it say if there are no tags on the product they won't accept it. So it's as if this woman literally gave me a look and just decided she wouldn't help me. Funny thing is I'm also looking on their site and it says they appreciate healthcare workers and would give a discount if our licenses are verified... well, I'm a nurse and came from work in my scrubs and badge not even knowing that information but this woman clearly makes her own rules up and doesn't bother to follow her own company's policies and procedures. Yes the selection here has a mix of fun, useful, and affordable stuff. But Mike, a manager here, went above and beyond to help us find the perfect furniture. He helped us find stock elsewhere (we needed more than was in stock), he helped my wife figure out the coupon system, and at the end of the day he even helped us personally load our furniture purchases. When it seemed like we bit off more than we could fit in our vehicle, he even helped us break down a box to make the jigsaw puzzle fit. What a surprisingly pleasant experience, and to boot, it was the end of the evening and the store had closed--but he was still super helpful! read more

Completely forgot to write a review on this but I did end up going back and talking to the general manager he was extremely nice and helpful and made things right. The only thing that made me give it a 3 instead of 2 is the fact that he made it right and the reason I still only give it a 3 is because the fact that he actually had the nerves to invite the MOD(manager on duty) that originally helped me out to not make things right but to see who it was that complained and then walk away after giving me a dirty look. Super unprofessional and I will likely not come back to purchase anything unless I have no other option. So it is more like I was obligated to write a 3 instead of a 2 or a 1. read more

Honestly, I shop here mainly for the great customer service, flexible return policy and easy pickup or shipping options. After being disappointed time and time again by stores like West Elm, Urban Outfitters, France & Son and other design stores like it, I find myself going to World Market. I can usually find something of comparable style, better quality and get this...if I don't like it I can easily return it without incredibly high fees or overly strict return policies. I'm happy. I'm happy every time I deal with their customer service over the phone or in store. Hope more stores like this come up! read more

This place is like a black hole of wonderfulness. I didn't need to come here, at all, but I was "in the area" and simply couldn't resist. Ended up walking out having spent $50, but NO buyers remorse because anything in this store is amazing. They've got everything from world wide foods to furniture, home decor to lighting installments. You name it! The staff is friendly and not annoying to where they keep hounding you to ask if they can help you. Great place for stuff to furnish your house with. There is always a sale or coupon you can use so never pay full price. The managers are very accommodating, they had an old sale tag listed on some dining chairs and they still honored the price when the technically didn't have to. I went to the grand opening at Cost Plus the other night and have to say I was blown away. Cost Plus has always been one of my favorite stores (how can you not love a place that sells gourmet chocolate, hard to find beers and wines, and adorable furniture and housewares?!), and the new location on Jamboree definitely delivered. The most stand out part of my experience, however, was a certain manager named Eyvet. As you can expect, since it was opening night it was insanely busy and people were everywhere. Eyvet approached me with a huge smile and a warm welcome in the midst of the madness that made me feel like I was attending a party that she was hosting. I work in the customer service industry myself and appreciate exceptional service when I receive it, and Eyvet was just stellar in every way. As I was shopping, there were employees asking her myriads of questions, people coming up to her left and right trying to find items, and tons of things needed to be restocked and rearranged. In a situation where most people would have been stressed, you could tell she had a level head and maintained her kind and approachable demeanor with customers and employees alike. I kept running into her all over the store as I was shopping--she was everywhere greeting people, helping customers, and guiding her employees. I was beyond impressed--I even joked with her asking if there were two of her! She had the type of command over things that you would expect from a captain of a ship in a storm, but she did it with a smile :) With people like Eyvet running it, I have a feeling this store will have many happy customers returning again and again, myself being one of them :) thank you Eyvet!! read more

Okay, so BO is the man and awesome. He's super friendly and helpful and goes above and beyond to make sure customer service is top notch. I'm not an easy customer to please at all, but he's always been there to help out and will even offer decorating tips too.
