I came here to have two watch bands resized. They are brand new. He said that it would be $60 for sizing, batteries and a pin for the resize. First of all, I know it didn't need a new pin, the pins are in the links and he was removing links not adding more. Second of all, the batteries are working. I had to argue with him that they are new and don't need either service that he recommended, all I needed was watch resizing. He argued with me for a bit, saying that the pins were missing and I had to pay for new ones, and that the hands werent moving so the batteries must be dead. I pulled the little tab out to start the battery and said "I can assure you that they work and that I dont need new pins." He reluctantly said "let me try then" and went to the back. 20 mins later, he came out and gave me my watches but they were both too small. It took another 15 for him to go back and try again, and after that I left. One of my watches is still a bit tighter than I prefer, but I didnt have another 20 mins to waste there. The total came out to $30, and he gave me a dirty look when I gave him my credit card. Update: After I posted my review, the owner sent me a "Youre Funny" compliment saying that I never visited his shop and told me to remove my review. I decided to try this place out to replace the batteries for my Cartier and Coach watches after reading all the good reviews on yelp. The store is quite small and easy to miss on Stevens Creek. The service was quick (10 minutes) and the cost was reasonable ($20 each watch). I wanted to make sure my watches didn't get scratched or anything by whoever worked on them, and this place did a very good job. read more

Brought in 2 watches for work. One just needed a battery and the other was a Tag that needed a spring replaced in the diver's bezel. I had taken watch #2 to a Tag retailer that advertised watch repair in the mall who told me they would have to send the watch to Tag for repair, it would cost about $300, and would take a few weeks. World Time did the repair in 10 mins for $50. Battery replacement on watch #1 was only $10. Would definitely go back to these guys. read more

I have been meaning to start yelping for awhile now, and my experience at World Time told me that I had to do it. These guys are wonderful. I had a horrible experience with Cartier in Palo Alto who told me that the battery in my watch had exploded or something and that it was going to need a 300 dollar overhaul...WHAT?? I was like it was working great, it just needs a new battery, but they would not touch it. So I just had them send it back to me, and I would figure it out myself. So I took it to a authorized Cartier jewelry store in the mall, and they referred me to World Time. There were two gentlemen working there and one of them took my watch, looked at it and said "easy just 15 minutes" and it was less then 15 minutes and 25 bucks later I had a perfectly running watch. read more

I was a bit weary because of the other poster, but I brought in 3 watches to get the hands and dials swapped out and he charged me a reasonable price comparable to the some modders online. I think he read the negative review here because as soon as I came in with the watches, dials, and hands, he asked me how I found out about his store. I hope he contacts Lorenzo S. and works things out. Overall it was a great experience, he swapped out everything in a timely matter, he even made a mistake and put the wrong hands on a watch but fixed it within minutes. I took in two watches, one with damaged crystal and one with a complete crack through the crystal. I had a bad experience with crystal replacement before at another shop. The cyrstal was of low quality and just not a flush or clean repair. So I was little weary. But I was floored when I picked up both watches. The crystal was of excellent quality. Kinda off-topic, off-on-a-tangent side-story: Looks like the "Yelp Police" is out in full force on me. Apparently, one of the responsibilities of being a Yelp Elite member is to post reviews once in a while. Okay, okay. I haven't posted a review in several months and I'm due for one...or ten...or twenty. But e-mailing me to "remind" me that I should be active on the site? Errrr, really? Okay, I guess... Anyway, onto my "long-awaited" review... My beloved Oris watch stopped working one day. I've had this watch for about 3 years and it was the first time it ever stopped working. I guess it spent time in one too many Vegas pool parties and all that water eventually damaged the watch. Sure, the simple diagnosis for a watch that has stopped working is to have the battery replaced. Well, my watch is an automatic watch...meaning there is no battery. You see, an automatic or self-winding watch is a mechanical watch, whose mainspring is wound automatically by the natural motion of the wearer's arm, providing energy to run the watch, to make it unnecessary to manually wind the watch (...thank you, Wikipedia, for that full and insightful explanation!). I didn't want to go buy a new watch. Shoot, that watch cost me $800 and I expected it to last longer than 3 measly years! So I went on Yelp (...yea, go Yelp! You rock!...you guys happy now?) and searched for a watch repair shop in San Jose. Low and behold, World Time pops up and it has a 5-star rating. Done and done! I dropped by the shop on a sunny and beautiful Saturday afternoon. I give my watch to Son, the shop's owner, and he tells me to give him 15 minutes. I then sit down and think to myself, "Awesome! He's gonna fix my watch in 15 minutes!" Unfortunately, that wasn't the outcome. 15 minutes later, he tells me that it's going to take 2 weeks to fix my watch and it was going to cost me $175. 2 weeks and $175? Double whammy! But then I thought to myself, "Can I find a new watch for roughly $175 that will be anywhere close to being as good (in terms of looks and functionality) as my broken watch?" The answer was a definite "No." So I agreed to his terms. A week and a half later, Son gives me a call and tells me that my watch had been fixed and it was ready to be picked up. Huzzah! I came by the next day and saw that my watch was ticking again. It also looked like it was brand new! Son definitely knows how to fix and clean watches like a pro! I must say, his 5-star rating is definitely justified. Kudos to this place. I hope to never come back here again though. Not because I don't like this place, but because I expect my watch to keep ticking for a long, long time. However, if something does happen to it again (...self-reminder: Don't wear it in the pool anymore!), I know I'll come back here to have it repaired. Okay, Yelp. I brought my boyfriends vintage Omega watch in that his grandfather had passed down to him. I wanted to surprised him by getting it cleaned up and back in working condition. The watch means a lot to him since his grandfather passed away so I needed to find a very reliable company. After reading the positive reviews on Yelp I decided to give this place a shot. I dropped the watch off in July and was told it would be ready in 4-8 weeks. 8 weeks passed and I hadn't heard from them so I called to check in. They informed me the part they needed was back ordered overseas and it would be another 4-8 weeks. Finally after waiting 5 months, I received a phone call yesterday that the watch was done. I picked it up and was very pleased with the results. It now works perfectly and looks better than ever. Even though it took 5 months rather than 5 weeks I am very happy with the results. They even knocked a few bucks off the price for the long wait. read more

Don't take your high end watch here. Read the other posts. The only compliments are for low end watches. The bad reviews are high end watches. I took my Tag Heuer to get re-polished. When I got it back it had lint inside the case. Not sure why the case was evened opened for a polish job. I took my Rolex to get sized. He took it to the back and admired it with a co-worker while whispering to each other. He came back and said my screws on my links were stripped and to leave it with him because he needed time to heat the loctite on the screws. Due to this, the price jumped from $10 to $20. I took my watch to another place and they did it in 5min. The other watch place said there was no stripped screws and no loctite in the first place. Makes me wonder what they would have done if I left my Rolex with them, knowing that they opened the case on my Tag Heuer. Probably a good place if you have a low end watch, but I wouldn't trust them with a high end watch read more

My husband owns a few expensive watches (@3k-7k in value)...we used to go to a jewelry store inside the mall for battery replacements. These used to cost us @$175 because they tell us that it's a special watch so they have to do a bunch of other stuff (like water pressure test) that's why it's that expensive. One time, one of his watches needed a new battery and since I was tired of paying a lot of money for watch battery replacements I tried to go to the kiosks inside the mall. The guy there was nice. Told me they don't deal with those kind of watches and he directed me to World Time. I owe that guy a lot of gratitude. When we went to World Time, he recognized our watch right away. He gave us the history of it and mentioned the jewelry store that we used to go to. The jewelry store in the mall (which charges us an arm and a leg) sends the watches they get for service to World Time! All these times when we had to wait about 2-3 weeks for our watches to come back from service. World time had them ready in just a few hours depending on how busy they are. Oh, and that water pressure test? They do it for free as part of their service. And they also did not charge us an arm and a leg. Maybe just a nail. :-) Today, I brought 5 watches for battery replacement (not too expensive...values way below $1k) and my fee was below $100! These guys are the best!!! Amazing watch repair shop and reasonable prices! Bought my Burberry in for a repair because I got sea water in it (Doh!). I orignally bought it to Fast Fix, but they did an okay job. Son Nguyen, the owner, charged me $120 for a full service because salt water repair is VERY difficult and not guaranteed on 100% salvage. The $120 full service included the salt water repair, watch cleaning, watch buffering (Fast Fix charges $100 for buff), and water battery replacement, so it was an amazing package deal. Son was able to salvage as much as he could and removed much of the scatches. 5 stars across the board and saved watch repair shop for me. read more

I must admit I was a little skeptical to have my beloved Rolex serviced at this unknown retailer. Out comes the Lupe and the inspection begins. Within two minutes he tells me it was built in 1986, SN is XYZ and it has a busted main spring. Ten days later I picked it up and it looks brand new. Took 2 watches here, a Georg Jensen that had not worked for a year and my Rolex, which I am very reluctant to hand over as I wear it continuously. However he assured me that I could have the watches back in a week so I left them both. Excellent service, both watches sparkly clean and running beautifully. Not the cheapest place I guess, but you get what you pay for and both watches look like new. $120 for the Georg Jensen and $350 for the full service and some replacements on the Rolex, and done within the week as promised, so happy to recommend the place. read more

I had three watches to get serviced. They all needed new batteries. He told me that it would take around 45 minutes to get them all done. There is no point in going home, so I just went to Santana Row and got some coffee. I came back and they were done and working. He told me that he would clean them but he didn't. So, he definitely didn't go above and beyond. In addition, I think he overcharged me. I paid $60 for 3 watches. It seems from these reviews he is only charging $15 per watch. read more

I was on my way to the mall to do a number of things-one of which was see if I could find somewhere to get a watch fixed-when I happened to see their sign across the street. I knew my watch wasn't terribly broken because I had dropped it on the floor and had the piece that had popped out. The man who helped me was very nice and fixed my watch in less than a minute. I asked how much for the service and he said nothing and wouldn't accept a tip either. This seems like a very trustworthy and honest business-I will definitely come here in the future if I ever have another broken watch! read more

They reconditioned a 1940s Rolex I picked up at an estate sale. None of the authorized dealers wanted to touch it, but World Time came to the rescue and put in the painstaking work to disassemble the movement, clean it, replace the mainspring, crystal, and sourced a missing hand, bringing the watch back to its former glory. They also gave sound advice on not retouching the dial- which showed that they really respect the craft and not just looking to perform unneeded service. Their price was 40% lower than what an authorized Rolex watchmaker quoted before suggesting World Time!. On another visit I also had them remove a link from a 1970s Rolex bracelet, the kind with folded (no screws) links. Again they did with skill what the Rolex authorized dealers passed up. I think many ADs prefer not to touch vintage watches, so just go straight to World Time While I was there I saw several other customers with watches that cost thousands of dollars- clearly they have the confidence of these folks, so that's good enough for my modest collection. read more

Absolutely amazing! Son, took a 1940's Chronographe Suisse and completely overhauled and restored the watch to full working order. Not an expensive watch, but one rich in sentimental value. No one else in the San Jose Bay Area was up to the challenge. Eight shops rejected the job peremptorily stating it was not possible, or not worth it. Later I found out the real reason - their skills were not up to the task! Now this heirloom worn by a marine during World War II lives on not only as a memento of the past, but as a fully functioning watch that can be enjoyed and appreciated today. I wanted to take a moment to commend the work of Son Nguyen at World Time for fixing my 1950's Longines 18kt White Gold Mystery Dial Diamond Dial Watch. I bought the watch from eBay, and it did not keep very accurate time. I figured it needed a cleaning and the crystal had a hairline crack, so I wanted the crystal replaced. I brought it to a watch repair near my home and the business owner told me that the watch was not good enough for him to bother repairing.... HAHAHA... what a pompous ass! I have many fine watches including Rolex, Gubelin and Patek Philippe etc., and I wanted to bring in a watch to kind of test the owner, to see the quality of his work before bringing in more valuable watches to service. Since this person didn't want my business I yelped watch repair shops in San Jose, CA and found World Time. Son Nguyen at World Time did an excellent job. The watch looked like new and now, several weeks later, I can confirm that the watch keeps perfectly accurate time. Halfway through the restoration, Son Nguyen sent me a picture of the watch dissembled... WOW... lots of pieces. I recently dropped off another high end watch (Vintage Gubelin Isomatic 18k Gold Automatic Gents Wrist Watch) to be cleaned and serviced. I am positive that Son Nguyen will do another fantastic job. We were referred to World Time for watch repair many years ago by our local Los Gatos jeweler. We have brought a number of high end watches here for repairs and servicing, including Patek Philippe (Calatrava, Twenty-4, and annual), Cartier, Audemar-Piguet perpetual, etc.) The owner, Son, in my opinion is a master watch repair person. We have always been completely satisfied with his work. A number of years ago for my Audemar perpetual he told me the company would not send to him the replacement part (crown), but by having me contact Audemar, they sent the part to me and he installed it as well as the needed repairs. The long wait involved was for the part to come to me from Audemar. He told me at the initial visit when I brought it to him that I would need to contact Audemar. The other work he has done for the most part has been more mundane. And, as excellent as he is, he takes courses to do additional repairs. I brought him our Tiffany Atmos Jaeger-LeCoultre mantel clock that Tiffany said they will no longer do repairs for. Son told me he does not do it either. But a few years later I saw one in his repair shop. He told me he took a course to repair them and now he does so. Bottom line - I have no hesitancy whatsoever bringing our timepieces to him for maintenance or repair. read more
