I learned about World Time from the reviews on Yelp and decided it might be the place for me. I caught my watch band in a shopping cart and broke it off where it attached to the watch. It was not just the band which would be easy. It was actually the case that was torn apart where the band was attached. I met Son at his shop. He is the owner and is from Vietnam. He said he was 76% confident he could fix it and that was the extend of his guarantee on the repair. He charged $15. I left it there on a Friday and got it on Monday. The repair was perfect. Ok, came in here a few years ago thinking there is no way it can be as good as all the reviews said. Believe me, it is! Am delighted to find a small business like this which rocks in terms of service and value. Before this was bringing my Tag Heuer into a large jeweler in Santana Row ("They-who-shall-not-be-named"). Lets just say service was "meh" at best (I mean, do you really have to whip out a large loupe in the middle of the store to check if my watch is a fake?! - really?!). Replaced batteries seemed to struggle to last a year, so would return to pay $$ for a new battery and be given yet another "certificate" for $100 just in case I wanted to buy another watch (eh, no, just want you to fix the one I have, thanks very much). Once inquired about getting my watch cleaned and was told it had to be Fedex'd to Jersey and would cost $$$. Yes I get it that its the official repair center but I want the thing cleaned not overhauled. That and the stopwatch hand was off a little - which they never fixed. Back to World Time. Was in and out in 20min. Explained to the gentleman I needed a new battery and asked about cleaning. he showed me the crappy battery last installed (grr....) and said he only used name brand. Also did a quick clean of the watch, pressure tested it right there and then sent me off a happy camper. Last visit was at least 2+ years and watch is still ticking. Oh and he reset the stopwatch second hand even though I forgot to mention it. Overall thrilled. My first two visits for watch re-sizing and new batteries were excellent, the staff was friendly and the adjustments were fast. On my third visit, I returned to pick up my watches (one needed the band links reattached and the other needed one of the buttons on the clasp to be repaired) and found that the band had been repaired on the one watch which has open, interlocking links that just needed to be clamped back down, an easy 1 minute job if you have the right tools (I do not), however the other watch's clasp (has springy buttons on either side which, when both pressed, unlock the band) was not repaired at all and tried to pass it off as if they fixed it. When I questioned it, the staff explained to me that. "it's supposed to be stiff like that so it doesn't come undone." I showed him the clasp on my other watch for comparison, both sides of the unlocking mechanism spring in and out and compared it to the watch they claimed to have repaired where only one side springs in and out and the other remains stuck in place. The owner took it back and in about 2 minutes managed to adjust it so that the stuck side of the clasp now sprung like the other side (upon closer inspection when I got home, the band and clasps also had new scuff marks and scratches). So clearly both repairs could have been done in under 5 minutes and yet felt the need to forgo fixing one and then lie and say that they did fix it. Despite the mix up on my third visit, I made the mistake of returning for a fourth time to have two new watches re-sized. I figured my experiences with the shop on my first two visits had been good and there was no way they could mess up or "forget" to re-size my watch. The adjustment was done in a timely manner, but this time he tried charging me $25 instead of $15 like he did on my first visit. I brought this up with the owner and he said, "no its always $25" I told him that I know for a fact I paid $15 before and he says, "ok $15, but that's wrong we never do $15." Well I have the transaction charge that proves otherwise... I will not be returning to World Time as I have found the staff to be unfriendly and the work and charges to be inconsistent and dishonest. Great service at the very high professional level took in my Rolex Oyster Perpetual TT Submariner to Mr, Son at WorldTime in San Jose, CA two weeks ago. I need at total service to my watch. I took this watch previously to a watch shop in Las Vegas to be serviced because it was running too slow by -11sec/day. What I got from vegas was a total disaster. The watch was actually worst then before I took it in. It took the aVgas shop only one day to totally mess-up the watch. The next day I arrived home a friend of mine recommended Son shop 'WorldTime in San Jose, accrues the street from the mall on Stevens Creek. Well, Son is very polite man, professional and extremely knowledgeable. He put my Rolex on his machine immediately and find out that the watch was running all over the place plus the surface of watch was full of scratches. Son recommended a full service. Price is a lot cheaper than RSC. I had the feeling of trust the minute I spoke with Mr. Son and two of his employees. Very professional people. And please believe me, I know how to read people. I'm a professional poker player and reading people is my main tool to see if somebody is pretending or is real and honest. I was promised two weeks time the watch will be totally serviced and finish outside in regard to surface scratches. After exactly 2 weeks I pick up the watch. I almost not recognized if it wouldn't be for the serial number. I was very pleased and I appreciate the personal service of all employee working at WorldTime. Work was done on time and they all did a wonderful job. I am now after 72 hours and I have a hard time determining how precise the watch is running. Using and electronic model I setup zero the start of the test and now after 3 days (72 hours) looking with a 10x loupe I and to about less then +1sec/day. I would be happy even with +6sec/day but what mr. Son did is an unbelievable job. I will recommend his shop to all my friends, this is for sure. Very very happy and satisfied. Highly recommended. I took my Tag Heuer 1500 Professional to Mr. Son bcos it stop keeping accurate time and bcos of the high reviews. He said it needed cleaning. But that didn't fix it. Then he said he replaced the "cannon pinions". But still won't keep time. I brought it to another watch repair shop and was told this type watch do not have "cannon pinions". So I brought it back to World Time and was told by Mr. Son that the watch is only worth $300 and that I should not spend the money to fix it. WTF! I told him this was given to me by a very special friend and has sentimental value. I'll never do business with Mr. Son. I don't care for his personal opinion about the worth of my Tag. He is untrustworthy and not a very good watch-master. He should keep his personal opinion to himself. It seems like he is only good with the "high priced" battery replacment ($15). I took my rolex which were sold to me by a friend in Christmas of 2000 to find out that it was service here in early 2000. I worked with Mr. Son Nguyen to overhaul and polish a 1989 Rolex. The work was excellent and my watch looks like new now; I had scuffed it up pretty badly and was afraid it wouldn't be possible to smooth out. Turnaround time was also fantastic. If you bring it in to Rolex directly, it takes a month or more to get it back. Same thing goes for other high end watch makers. Price was very reasonable too. My Rolex blue dial submariner is currently with him as well for polishing and servicing. This is a long review but this place is worth it!! I have many high end automatic watches from Omega, Rolex, U-Boat, Panerai, Breitling, Hamilton, etc. My Tag Hueur Monaco stopped working after 2.5 years from date of purchase at a local watch store. Warranty from Tag had expired at 2 years. I was very disappointed as I have never had an automatic watch need service in under 5 years. I called Tag and they said take it was out of warranty but that I could take the watch to a Tag store and have the watch shipped to Tag Swizerland for analysis and the estimate was $800 for an overhaul! I was not confident that this process and expense would yield a watch that would meet my expectations. I took the watch to World Time based on Yelp reviews. I could not be happier! I walked in the door and was quickly greeted by Son who is definitely a watch guy!! Shop is very clean and workspaces are very well organized and clean. He looked at my Tag and asked a few questions about the watch history. He took the watch to his timer, got a printout, and said there was something significantly wrong in the watch for a watch with only 2.5 years on it. He took it to his bench and opened the watch up. He told me and showed me that somewhere along the way the watch had been opened (probably at the jewelery store where I purchased) and they put too much oil on the jeweled bearings. In Son's words "bad quality service". This is a 59 jewel watch so this was not good news considering I thought the watch was new when purchased. Son said that possibly they sold the watch to someone who returned it quickly but not working and they did the repair in-house. I told Son I wanted the watch to be brought back to new specifications and he said that is the only way he works on watches! I turned the watch over to him and 6 weeks later, had my Tag Monaco back working perfectly!!! Son printed out the calibration results and the specs after his work were better than the specs needed on a new Tag Monaco!!! And a great warranty from World Time!! Outstanding service!!! I've always wanted a Movado watch and was fortunate enough to receive one from my fiancé last Christmas. Somehow someway... I managed to chip the crystal face of the watch. Because my fiancé bought the watch @ Macy's, we went there to see how much they would charge to fix it. They said that the watch needed to be sent to Movado in order to be repaired and would give us a call with the price. A week passes by and we get a call from Macy's. They said it was going to cost $500 for the repair. Are you freaking kidding me?!?! $500?!?! The cost of repairing the watch is almost as much as the watch itself! Of course we decline and the watch was sent back. I started researching watch repair shops and World Time had excellent reviews. I stopped by one day after work to get a quote on how much it would cost to repair my watch. The nice gentleman who helped me carefully inspected the watch and said $170... I asked where do I sign? OMG! World Time was going to charge less than half of what Movado was going to charge. Score! I wrote down my information and he said I would receive a call within 6-8 weeks. Today I finally got a call and went to pick up my watch. Paid $170 as discussed and I have to say that my watch looks brand spanking new. The crystal face is flawless. As if nothing ever happened to it. I am so glad that I went to World Time. The men who work here are extremely good at repairing watches. They are professional and trustworthy. My Breitling Aerospace is out of warranty and out of battery for over two years. I took it to World Time and Son came out with smiles said the cost of change battery is $25 dollars. I was shock since it cost me $600 dollars to sent back for battery last time. After Son opened the watch, the battery has leak and he carefully changed battery, fix the seal, vacuum and clean it for no charge. I felt so gracefully that he did it.
