We visited Palm Desert to see our St. Louis CITY Soccer Club (SC) play Austin in pre-season MLS soccer at the Coachella Valley Invitational Tournament. This was a late-planned trip, and my wonderful wife was still able to pull off getting us into our favorite Marriott Vacation Club property - Shadow Ridge in Palm Desert. Every trip before this one we have stayed in the same building near the entrance; this was our first time staying in The Enclaves, the buildings located further back in the property, the ones with a more noticeable adobe-like southwestern motif. Being only three of us, we stayed in the studio, which is a one-bedroom with a pull-our sofa; then kitchen has counter space, but less than the master suite (no island / no wrap-around counter), and place settings for four; there is a small dishwasher. There is a coffee machine with a carafe (a pot at a time not a cup at a time). The room is laid out well and has good decorations. Our room happened to face south, so we could get some sun on the patio. We were also next to the Snakebites pool and enjoyed sun there - pool, cornhole, table tennis / ping-pong, and more. We have been visiting Shadow Ridge more often the past couple years, and that is a good thing, for doses of vitamin D from the sun, and from the relaxation we always feel when we are there. On this trip, I did work a couple days, too, and the Business Center in the lobby has much counter space and power plugs that could support 3-5 people working in there; though conf calls would be a noise challenge in such a setup; I was in there solo and was quite productive. Also note that this location is basically a Marriott timeshare so be wary of offers to attend any informational sessions. Check in was definitely annoying so be prepared to wait a long time in line. First time, we got a two bedroom villa - which is basically a one bedroom villa with an additional King room. The second time we went with a one bedroom villa. One was close to the pool and the other was very far. The far one was right on top of the golf greens so you would hear people very early in the morning. Both were the buildings that were further out because we didn't want to hear a lot of commotion all day. The rooms are spacious and have a balcony so you can still get sun if you aren't in the mood to trek to the pool or outdoor spaces. Having a kitchen and washer dryer is worth the extra money for sure. One room had a pretty uncomfortable bed and the other had a decent one, so basically it's up to chance which kind you get. One thing I didn't anticipate was that there is no room housekeeping included during the stay so we had to lug our trash out to the dumpster (annoying when on the second floor) and wash our towels ourselves. Not a huge deal, just not expected. Fyi...Parking is $30/day which is pretty annoying if you aren't leaving the resort, but at least you have in and out privileges. Overall a nice spot and for the right price we'd come back.

Being an…read moreowner, I usually stay at the main grounds but opted to stay here at Jasmine Court which faces the Marriott Desert Springs Valley golf course. Jasmine Court villas is a smaller compound and quieter with less patrons than the main villas but is further away from the JW Marriott hotel, although there's a shuttle service throughout the day to the hotel. I really enjoyed the amenities here - fitness center, pickleball courts, main pool and an activity center that includes a pool table and ping pong. I took advantage of the pickleball offered and played two mornings which were uncrowded, no reservation needed and I was able to get complimentary paddles and balls. My villa was a one bedroom which included a full kitchen, laundry machines and everything I needed for a comfortable and quiet weekend getaway. I'll definitely request staying at this location in the future.

As soon as we walked into the room, there was a strong smoke smell that made the stay unpleasant. The furniture was in terrible condition. The couch was badly ripped and peeling, leaving pieces of material all over the place. When we opened the sleeper sofa, it was full of dirt, debris, and crumbs, making it clear it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. It was not something anyone would feel comfortable sleeping on. For the price they charge, I expected a clean, well-maintained room. Instead, the resort felt neglected and poorly maintained. I hope management takes better care of the property because guests deserve much better for what they're paying. I would not stay here again or recommend it based on my experience

I would like Hyatt Desert Oasis to take responsibility and contact me about compensation, including reimbursement for a professional detail/paint correction or an appropriate credit/refund for the inconvenience and damage. It was difficult to eat the wonderful food that was provided without gagging. Nav sends you to another business behind it with a vast parking lot. Street parking is non-existent. I ended up using a 20-minute zone. I have no idea where everyone else parked, but I have to assume it was this huge, tilted parking lot at the business behind. Accessing this, 'meeting hall' from that parking lot is harrowing and definitely NOT ADA or disability-friendly. You couldn't PAY ME to return to this place.

This resort is better than staying at a hotel. The full kitchens, dining room, washer and dryer, little patio area with grilling just make it feel like a home away from home. So easy to cook in the space as they have all the utensils and appliances. The only issues I have ever experienced is checking in can be a hit or a miss, as at times we have experienced rooms not being ready on time, but for the most part, it has been wonderful. There are plenty of pools. When we went one was being remodeled but it was a short walk to the next one. And we did recieve notice via email regarding work which was nice. Grace at the front desk was wonderful! She was so pleasant and kind when I talked to her on the phone when checking in. Great customer service! She is incredible! Made such a difference when I walked in for the keys as I already felt her wonderful energy thru the phone. Thank you again.
