I've worked nearby this establishment for years and have frequented this location over a decade. Yet somehow managed to forget to post a review. I am so sorry! But if you want fresh amazing poke- this place is it! No doubt about it. Do yourself a favor and come check them out. My coworkers love it here! Their poke bowls are the best!!! And if you're extra hungry- get the monster bowl! Mike and the entire staff are all very sweet. They do the best job creating the bowl to your specific liking, right in front of you!! It's a small hole in the wall in a business building. You can't miss it just look for the umbrellas and people eating outside. There's also available bar style seating inside. They can get busy, especially during the lunch rush. But you can Order ahead online as well! This particular visit, even our Frenchie was Wowed at WOW BENTO!! Thank you so much!!!! Love eating here! Never disappoints.

Placed an order via DoorDash and order arrived fast, accurate, and fresh. I thought it was unique they offer scallop as part of their scoop options. My fault for picking half rice and salad for base. I didn't realize how much cucumber and seaweed salad it comes with. Had I known this, I would've skipped it altogether. I love spicy food so chose the highest spiciness level. Don't do that to yourself! All I could taste was how mouth numbing and spicy everything is. It dwarfed all the other flavors of the poke and the only thing I tasted was cucumbers in every bite. Given how fresh and tasty the meal was, I wouldn't mind reordering for a light and refreshing lunch. Just be mindful that when you pick spicy, it really is HOT!

The places tucked in a business area so keep your eyes opened. The staff was very welcoming. It smells very fresh inside flavors are good. I ordered a monster bowl and I just had a slightly different idea. I've been to other pokey restaurants and this one would be the equivalent of their small to medium bowl. The flavors again are amazing. Ingredients are extremely fresh. Just wish that it looked more like a monster bowl. I might try it in the future if I'm in the area

A solid spot to get for lunch if you work nearby however I wouldn't go out of my way to grab a bowl. The fish was fresh and I felt the quantity for price was worth!

A small place in a business park, definitely thought I was lost until I saw the umbrellas outside. Ordering is streamlined as it's divided into simple steps with the essential options available. From start to finish my poke bowl took about a minute to order and pay. Fish tasted fresh and their sauce options are split into heat levels. Got medium and it was delicious and perfectly sauced. It was probably a 5/10 spicy, would go hot next time! It's not about size. Give it a try, Wow Bento will definitely make you say Wow!

Wow Bento is the best poke bowl spot I've found in OC; their fish always tastes fresh and the portions-to-price ratio isn't bad. The service is fast and the women behind the counter are friendly. My only forewarning is that there isn't much indoor seating (just a few stools) and it gets very busy at lunch due to being in a business park. It's definitely a grab-and-go sort of establishment, but their online ordering system is great and has always allowed me to skip the line and grab my food quickly.

Good quality poke, I just wish there was more! Hungry and just looking to pick up and go, I came across this place. I've tried most of the poke spots in the Lake Forest area so I was hoping this would be my go-to. I've been here a long time ago and got a regular bowl, if I remember correctly. This time around I ordered a Monster Bowl for pickup. The 5 scoops of fish sold me. So, I ordered all salmon, avocado, seaweed salad, ginger, crab meat, white rice, cucumbers. and medium spicy sauce. It wasn't long before my order was ready to be picked up. I hurried and grabbed my food and ate it when I got back to work. What did I think of it? - Monster Bowl: 5 small scoops of fish on what seems to be the same amount of rice you would get in a regular bowl. It tasted fresh and delicious though. It just looked identical in size to my coworker's regular bowl that I picked up. Service was good, the staff is friendly. Parking spots are available here and there. It's a business complex so there's always cars parked here (at least during the weekdays). No indoor seating is available. Definitely a place worth trying, see if it "wows" you!

this spot is literally right across the street from my job ! It is definitely hidden, but I am so glad I found it. Everything was so fresh Poké bowl was amazing. Great customer service very clean and the prices weren't too bad. Definitely worth it. I will be back very soon. Thank you.

This Poki bowl place is amazing. Salmon, tuna, spice tuna are all good. Place is a little hidden. But this place is worth the price you pay. Poki bowl price is quite cheap compare to other places. I guarantee the price and taste.

Small poke bowl gem! Nothing fancy, but the food choices are fresh. They move the line quickly. There is limited seating outside but perfect if you come just before noon. My colleague and I arrived here at 11;50 am during the work week and we found a table no problem. We both had meetings at 1 pm and we were back in plenty of time ! This is my go to place for lunch when I'm in town !

Excellent poke in a tiny shop. You'll find the place tucked in an industrial area. Kind friendly ladies will serve you the freshest tasty poke bowl around. I enjoyed double salmon, scallops and added avocado. $12.50 + $1 for avocado. The mild sauce hit. Definitely coming back!

My experience and meal was five star!…read moreThough, keep in mind that my five stars is based on dining here only once and not at peak hours. We arrived just after noon on a weekday. The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated right away. The vibe inside was authentic feeling Japanese style, smallish with several tables and sushi bar seating. My chicken oyakodon was a bowl of cozy comfort to me. It was topped with two slices of yellow pickled daikon. I'm sure it was homemade daikon, not like what you get in a jar from Tokyo Central. We were served their delicious miso soup as a starter. My sister ordered beef teriyaki and tempura. She said it was good. The restaurant started filling up as we ate our meal. A good sign of good authentic Japanese is when you see a lot of Japanese/Asians filling up the place, especially older people (haha, like me), because you know they know well prepared authentic. And that's the crowd that was coming in. Located in a busy center with limited parking, it must get crazy busy later in the evening because the sign outside the entrance says where to form the line. Anyway, my oyakodon and miso soup was so good!

At first the chefs were not even in the bar area. When they finally arrived they were more interested in online orders instead of preparing food for customers who are right infront of them. (I see other reviewers have also experienced the same) We were not happy, when discussing whether to leave instead of continue to wait, the owner kept looking at us and never once came over to see how to mediate the situation. We finally flagged the server and told them to cancel everything. The owner said "Oh no, they are leaving?" Very rude, of course we left we had been seated an hour and did not receive any food! We could see the chef area they didn't even START making our food. I can understand it was late, but if you do not have the hands on deck do not offer a seat to customers looking to dine in. I am not sure why I am surprised, years ago I tried to eat here and had a terrible experience. About 4 years ago I walked in to get a table for one and the female owner kept looking at me and walking away. I was waiting probably 20 minutes at the front desk, and gave up since no one acknowledged me (other than uncomfortable glares from the owner.) Terrible service. Stay away, much better sushi in the city, not sure why we decided to go here, but will not make that mistake again.

The restaurant was nearly empty, so I was a little surprised by the mildly dramatic reception about wondering where we'd been. For a moment I thought perhaps a search party had been organized. Fortunately, that was basically the end of the weirdness. Our server was excellent. Friendly, patient with the kids, knowledgeable about the menu and most importantly, honest. We came in wanting to try a little of everything and he steered us well. When a table wobbled, they fixed it immediately. The kids got the right utensils without us having to conduct negotiations. He even suggested putting the grilled squid in early because it would take longer. Small things, but restaurants are largely collections of small things. The reason to come here is the soba. MINAMI makes it in house and you can tell. It has that slightly stubborn chew good soba should have, not miraculous, not the greatest bowl of soba I've encountered in my life, but very good and unmistakably made with some care. I switched my order to cold bukkake and added grated mountain yam and a poached egg. Delicious. The additional $7.75, however, briefly made me wonder whether the yam had been carried down from Mount Fuji by hand. I understand restaurants are expensive now. Ingredients are expensive. Labor is expensive. Existing in Southern California is expensive. Still, $7.75 for grated yam and an egg is $7.75 for grated yam and an egg. Even our server seemed aware of the absurdity, which somehow made me like him more. The grilled squid was another winner. Cooked properly, tender instead of being transformed into the rubber gasket squid so often becomes. I would've happily eaten a larger piece, especially for the price. The fried oysters were more complicated. Beautiful crunch, nicely fried, but ours carried enough of that funky, ocean floor oyster flavor that nobody at the table was fighting over the last one. The hamburg steak was fine. Perfectly competent. Nobody will write home to Japan about it. The lightly battered shrimp was much better. Crisp, airy batter with a creamy roe style sauce that worked beautifully. The shrimp themselves had a slightly stronger seafood flavor than I prefer, which keeps the dish out of masterpiece territory, but I'd order it again. Oddly enough, one of my favorite things on the table was the simplest, the kids' hot udon. The broth was light, clean and comforting rather than beaten to death with salt. The children absolutely demolished it. They were considerably less impressed by the soba, but they are also two, four and five, so I will not be consulting them on noodle craftsmanship just yet. The room itself is comfortable and reasonably clean, though there are little signs of wear. A few tables weren't being used, ours needed stabilizing and the place doesn't have that immaculate precision you sometimes get from a great Japanese restaurant. Nothing alarming. Just noticeable. That's basically MINAMI. A few rough edges surrounding some genuinely good cooking. It isn't cheap. Order enthusiastically, as we did, and the arithmetic starts getting adventurous. Some dishes feel fairly priced, others make you stare at the receipt for a moment and reconsider your understanding of root vegetables. But the handmade soba is good. The squid was good. The udon broth was excellent. There were enough interesting things on the menu that I left already knowing what I'd try differently next time. And our server turned what could've been a merely decent meal into a genuinely enjoyable one. That's worth something. I'd come back, just perhaps without accessorizing my noodles like a Porsche.

A little disappointed. FYI -- no photos because we were busy with a cranky toddler. First, the service was genuinely great. The sweetest lady helped us with the menu and served our food, and we really appreciated her kindness. We were also given complimentary edamame, which was thoughtful, although it was bland, dry, and cold -- almost like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. Since it was complimentary, we didn't think too much of it. For the mains, we ordered the beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki bento specials. Unfortunately, both proteins were sliced extremely thin. The chicken especially had a jerky-like texture, and both the chicken and beef lacked flavor. After reading other reviews, they had similar experience. The teriyaki sauce itself was also pretty bland. The tempura was okay, but the tempura dipping sauce tasted watered down and lacked the usual savory depth you'd expect. The one standout was the roll topped with salmon and avocado with spicy tuna inside. It was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and well-balanced. Based on this, I honestly think rolls are what they do best. I really hope they improve the preparation and seasoning of the chicken and beef because it was a major turnoff -- and this is coming from someone who eats pretty much everything. It's hard to justify paying around $22 for a bento when the main protein feels flavorless and insubstantial. With so many good Japanese resto in Lake Forest, I would skip this until the proteins are fixed.
