I agree with all the negative comments. Wow/Astound is now abysmal. The bill doubled; I spent hours on the phone trying to reconcile it. They finally said they would call me back; they did not. As far as my spotty service, they can have someone come out AGAIN. But they won't have anyone available for service until mid-November......Unbelievable. Unfortunately, I know Comcast is almost as bad. Maybe I will try AT&T again. This is pretty ridiculous in this day and age. read more

The repair people come in your backyard unannounced, spooking my dogs and setting off my security cameras. I called the police as none of them were in uniform and they were walking around my house uninvited. Plus there were no work vans around the house to identify them. They claimed to be working on another outage for wow cable in the area. So here is an idea have your service tech's in a uniform, not a dark hoodie pulled up over their head. Plus park a service truck nearby. I called after finding out it was them. I wanted to address my concerns and I was left on the automated message. We just signed up and I'm already regretting it. Lucky I screencapped the deal on the website since their onboarding was non-existent. Dude just shows up at our house after a few days. A few days later we get emailed access to a website with not at all the same deal. I emailed them the screencaps side-by-side, they say I have to call. I call, somebody in a thick accent just condescendingly reads our bill to us and refuses to give us the deal that we signed up for. I ask to speak to a manager, he just starts the script over again until I've had enough. It started off bad after the tech left and I saw that he left their router dangling by the network cable about a foot from the floor. I paid for a static IP address that they never provided me and disconnected our service for non-pay... but they never sent a bill! I forgot to mention that they want us to pay for a month+ service that THEY disconnected services and prevented us from using the circuit... although it never worked from the install date! When you call in to complain, the 'notes' that are on our account are somehow missing after transferring to another person to help you! Our service was installed at the beginning of October 2020 and would go down an average of 50+ (documented by an outside company) per day. In the end, they expect us to pay almost $1100 for services that they have admittedly failed to provide. I will go back to Xfinity and deal with their horrible service before I would EVER recommend WOW! to another person! The cutover from Wow! to Astound has been an abysmal failure. My neighbors and friends and warned me it would happen because it happened to them - I thought I dodged a bullet but it finally happened to me...I've had no internet all day today. No texts with updates, I cannot reach a person on the phone and I started a chat 2 hours and 2 minutes ago ...the response from that chat is still ..."Great, you're in line. We'll let you know when it's your turn. If business hours close, we'll save your place in line for when we reopen Sunday at 9am EDT." Wow is right! This is a complete disaster on the part of Astound. I can't imagine doing this bad if I was TRYING to screw things ip. read more

I don't typically post reviews, but I've had a great experience with WOW! and thought they could use a good review to offset some of the trouble I see posted here. I've been a WOW! Customer for over a decade, signed up back when they were WideOpenWest. They have always been helpful and friendly when I call, and their TV and Internet has been incredibly reliable. Their installers are always friendly, professional, and patient with my questions. I even had one installer call into the office to negotiate a lower price for the service he'd just upgraded. Now I've added their phone service for a fraction of the cost I was paying a competitor. The transfer was easy and painless. read more

I set up my services over the phone with their sales rep. I had home phone and internet. I was told internet was $55 and phone was $10. Add in the service plan and I'm around $70. Then the second bill come and my bill was $123. Turns out that the $10 plan allows 100 minutes and then $0.05/min after that. I went and complained about this and they said it's all on the internet (because, you know, we all jump to the internet to verify what I've been given). They tell me they're all valid charges because it's on the internet. There's a $20 plan you can have for unlimited minutes. Now I got charged for over 800 minutes. Wouldn't you think that if I had been given a second option that I would have chose the unlimited one and not the 100 free plan? Even better is that the $20 plan isn't on the internet. You depend on the sales people to provide you all the information you need when purchasing a product. Voice Over Internet Protocol is nearly free. It's on the internet they said. Not only that but my speeds on the internet are a third of what I pay for and they blame it on everyone but themselves. So far my mesh network and my work computer are the blame for lower speeds. My work computer sits less than a foot away from the modem. That's not going to degrade speeds that much. Since RCN purchased this area from WOW, I'm not sure who's at fault but I deal with WOW so that's who's at fault. What's worse is that I've had great experiences with WOW in the past but now all of that is tarnished. I guess that's what moving gets you. read more

No stars....... One of the worst businesses around. Overpriced, uncaring, and they outright lie to their customers. We have had our ENTIRE system down since they tried an upgrade two nights, ago. That is catastrophic. We have talked directly with them several times and each time they first deny they are down, then they pretend surprise at the new info, then they say it's just VOD, and eventually they admit to "some issues due to an upgrade problem" Meanwhile, I'm paying obnoxious dollars for phone, inet, and tv which I'm not getting and being lied to about it! Extremely unreliable internet service. I switched from Comcast a couple of months ago because they just kept increasing their prices and my neighbor had good experience with Wow. What a nightmare it has been! Connection drops constantly, and phone agents are unhelpful. All they say is that there is an outage and they have no estimated time of fix. The one start reviews on this company absolutely well deserved. You really can't make this stuff up, folks. We had our service installed and they left with our cables hanging out of the grounded without letting us know. It took us 3 MONTHS to get them to come back and bury our cables and they ended up BREAKING our internet and left the scene without mentioning anything. They literally just left after breaking out internet. Then they didn't reschedule a fix for a WEEK... during COVID... when 3 members of our family required internet for work... We literally could not work for a week because they f-ed up, left without letting us know and they didn't prioritize sh*t for us afterwards. I honestly can't even believe the words I am typing as I type them... But it gets better. Come Tuesday, my brother's BIRTHDAY, we have to wait all day for the service man to come because their window is 8am - 9pm, and they never show up. We have been WOW customers ever since going from a chimney antenna to cable some 15 years ago. They started out strong but as they have grown they have gotten consistently worse. Six months ago we began paying a significant premium to upgrade our internet service to 500 mbps (download) to support a significant increase in internet activity. Unfortunately the only thing that went up significantly and consistently was our monthly bill! Repeated outages routinely throttle our internet speed to ~30 mbps or less, just ~6% of what we're paying for, almost the entire day but even slower at crucial times. Today's experience was the last straw. After 4 days of complete outage episodes in the last 2 weeks as well as repeated phone calls for technical assistance I was informed today that the fault is definitely with WOW equipment in our home but that WOW is far too busy (presumably setting up new suckers as subscribers) to fix the problem for at least 4 more days! That would be bad enough but this is the 7th time in 6 months that someone from WOW has come here to "fix" something! Every fix proved to be temporary or non-material. I have had it!! read more

When I purchased my first home, I called to transfer my service and found that I had moved just outside the service area. I didn't want to, but I told them I would have to cancel my service. The rep told me that I would be charged a $225(!!!) early termination fee. I told her it was not my fault they didn't service my new home and she told me that my contract specified that moving out of the service area did not waive the fee. I spoke to four different people and none would do anything to work with me on this. So for my $39.99/mo service, I paid $225 to cancel due to their limited market area. Be aware of their shady business practices and tell those door-to-door salespeople to take a hike. read more

Having come from Comcast, I can say that WOW is way better. I like that my bill is the same amount every month, which should be a given but is still something their competitors are incapable of. I have the internet only with WOW and for the most part it works great. I didn't give WOW five stars however because there was about a month where I was having some intermittent connection issues with the connection dropping from anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. But, after talking with their tech support, they were able to get the issue escalated and I have only had one outage since. Whenever I do a speedtest the speeds are as promised and I know my bill is going to be the same every month. I've been with them for a little under two years, without a contract, and my bill has only gone up by $1, which was a fee to receive a paper bill. I also own my own modem which helps keep the cost down. I recommend WOW and it is nice to have a choice other than Comcast. read more

Update: no video service since approximately 4pm on Saturday. Now 8:30 pm on Monday. Customer service representative hasn't called back, looks her watch uses a very different method for measuring a 30 minute interval. By contacting supervisor was able to get a tech out today to swap out media gateway, on his second try he got one that worked briefly. He got one tv to work, never bothered to work on or check the other one. Really sad that he is there as a callback for failed equipment from Saturday and doesn't bother to check to make sure the inconveniences the customer has been dealing with are all addressed. I would try the VP again, but it seems the only thing he was really interested in was me not emailing him anymore. I was happy at the time, but because I had someone that seemed committed to resolving my problem. Guess I shouldn't expect them to care about their customers as long as they keep paying for service they don't receive. read more

Not worth the time to even bother with this company. They sound great on paper but once you sign up you quickly see they are nothing but a pain. Internet kept loosing connection, we called to have a technician come out, all they said was turn off and turn on modem. This would only fix the issue for a day, if we we're lucky. Now that we decided to cancel they want to charge us a ridiculous fee and say we never had a technician come out to help our issues. They never wanted to send someone. I guess by not being helpful that is how they try to stick you with the fee. Costumer service is very rude the supervisor Oscar even "got disconnected" with us. Edit: I messaged Wow's Facebook page and someone responded to me in less than 5 minutes. He looked at the receipt I had and said he would resolve the issue. The whole conversation took less than 10 minutes. For anyone else having issues: don't bother calling the customer service phone number.. (they lie to you and hang up on you when you try to hold them accountable.) Just message them on Facebook.. those customer service people actually seem to care a little about the feedback they get. I moved out of state back in March and Wow keeps claiming I never sent them their modem back, which I did. I have the receipt and everything. They have been telling me for THREE MONTHS that they were going to sort of my account, but never do. I keep getting bills in the mail for $250. I have called more than ten times already to get this situation fixed and every single supervisor I have spoken to has lied to me. They keep saying they are going to fix the issue and refund my last overpayment, but they keep billing me. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PLANET. I've been a customer since 2009 and never had any issues until now. I moved so I requested my service to be transferred to my new home. Technician was supposed to arrive between 1 and 3 pm. 3 pm rolls around and the technician still hadn't arrived, so I call Wow to find out where they are. I was told the technician was running behind and they will arrive at 4:00. At 4:10 when no technician showed up I called again and was told that no one will be coming because the technician had a family emergency. My appointment was rescheduled for the next day between 8am and noon. By 10 am when no one had arrived yet, I called to get an ETA and was told "we don't know what happened, but we don't have anyone available today". After getting stood up twice and having to take off work to wait for someone who never showed up, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I've been a WOW customer for 10+ years, and am ready to switch over to Comcast. WOW used to be really good and responsive, and now it's pricier to remain as an existing customer than it is to sign up as a new customer with a competitor (U-Verse or Xfinity). Their local installers and techs are good at their job, but their call center people are kind of clueless. For example, when a customer calls and asks what their monthly charges are, WOW will reply "About $160". ABOUT??? Anyhoo, the game plan is to cancel WOW when my contract is up, get a promo rate from Xfinity and then cancel on those mofos when that contract is up and they jack up my rates. Fun, huh? read more

Worst ever service. Very u reliable internet service. Modem provider was faulty which goes off sync every 2 months. Customer service is a joke. Be ready to wait for at least 35 mins to get someone on a call. I waiting today for about 45+ mins as I had an outage and then finally a person connected. He spent 10 mins looking into something. Asked me to hard reset of my modem. Nothing helped. He was out of ideas and told me there was an outtage going on in my area. Lol. Seriously guys your support is a complete joke. If I could give it a ZERO star rating I certainly would. 1. there features and service are a throwback to the stone age. 2. the tech is terrible, user interfaces and feature set both online and on the tv menu work and look like they are coming from the age of packman or Pong. 3. in canceling my service they took 3 weeks not 3 days to transfer my phone over, the reason was just because, causing me to be charged an extra month for their service. 4. Can I please talk to someone in America? I have talked to 3 people now about this with absolutely no outcome. Their foreign team doesn't even know how billing works. Saying I was billed in the rears not forward.... What? The autopay was still on even though me account was canceled the guy, then a gal and then another gal in India kept telling me that's how it worked and that's what I owed and sorry. 5.WOW is stuck in the 80s, if you thought Xfinity was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet. Just try and get a live person let alone a US person after being sent in an endless loop of automated calling questions. 6. Finally, the internet and streaming, speed is good when it's running. Internet service would always shut off about the same time every night 8pm ish. Causing me to have to reboot my router and wait. So would I ever go to wow again? NO. Would I recommend wow to anyone? NO Does Xfinity have some issues, Yes, but compared to WOW they are millenniums ahead of the game, from streaming to dependability, WOW is not even on the same playing field. I finally got through to a gal in Alabama and she saw the issue right away, turned off my autopay, and is sending me a refund, but again some funky refund system will be sending me an email. Wow used to be my favorite customer service organization. They have seriously disappointed me this month. They have 2 months in a row taken my monthly payments, and not applied to my account. My bank has confirmed they received the payment. I then get a bill in the mail saying they are going to discontinue my service in a week if I don't pay my balance in full. Can you imagine a company taking away our internet because of their own accounting issues? This has happened two months in a row. Never got an acknowledgement that they did anything wrong. Also, you are never allowed to get in touch with a customer service person unless you go thru all the automated selections. There is no selection for "WOW messed up and I need help". WOW is known for providing exceptional customer service. However they closed my internet email account without any notice and 6 weeks earlier than stated by their support department. Being a long term customer I expected WOW to reactivate the account temporarily to allow me to transfer items over. Even after pleading with WOW customer support and management they would not allow me access to my account. This would have been a simple procedure for WOW but they decided to standby their undocumented policies and leave a long term customer in disarray. Terrible internet service provider! Over the course of a year I had continuous issues with the network going down. Especially during a thunderstorm. I hate to admit it but I rarely had this type of issue with Comcast. Now I want to cancel and WOW wants to charge me a $60.00 early termination fee for a contract that I never entered in to. I was offered a discounted rate had I wanted to sign up for a long-term contract, but chose to pay the more expensive monthly rate. Wow cable, internet and phone, is probably the worst cable company in illinois. If they are not in your area, consider yourself blessed. Their customer service is horrible, no one ever has answers. Wow is supposed to be providing cable service to my mom's condominium complex, but it never works. I've had technicians out on numerous occasions, and yet she still cannot watch her tv. She has no choice in provider as her bill is included in her monthly association dues. I have to keep taking days off work to be there for when the techs are available. I don't know what happened them, but the new operating system is very user unfriendly, the feed keeps freezing and half the time I can't get internet. There is so much interference and it freezes up way too many times. I feel like I should not have to pay for the time I don't get to watch anything! Actually enjoyed the service, it was priced very competitively and didn't have any issues. My problem is with their customer service department. They were actually beginning to change my mind about internet/cable customer service until this recent problem. I had to move and wanted to transfer service but unfortunately they don't have service in Plainfield Illinois, although their service center is located in Naperville less than ten minutes away from me. After calling to cancel the service and returning my equipment I was told my service was discontinued and there was no outstanding balance. I actually was owed $6.60. Come to find out there is a $100 early cancellation fee that was never agreed to and added to my account after everything was said and done. I should've known their service was too good to be true and they would stick it to me one way or the other... I made a dispute and they were quick to call me and tell me it was denied and apologized for their new employees mistake. The smartass rep on the phone also told me he reviewed the recorded phone call where they told me there was no cancellation and would not honor that promise. 0/10 for being lied to and charged $100. read more

I switched to WOW from Comcast because it was significantly cheaper for internet only. I have had the service a little under a year and have had no real issues with it. My family and I are moving a mile away at the end of the month, just over the town line. I called to transfer my service, but they don't serve there. So I have to cancel, and they hit me with a $240 early cancellation fee. I complain and they tell me under no circumstance can I avoid the fee. Unbelievable. I wanted the service and they can't provide it so they fine ME? I will never use this company again and will warn others off it as well. Such a shame to have such a stupid policy. Wow is a joke!!! Another 63 minute call to be told the tech was at the node and fixed the issue. One hour later same problem and internet is out again. 7 months of the same issue. Interference/restriction at ge node 20 main box where the main signal is, they have yet to fix it. They told us it was our modem, our wifi router, our lines outside, all replaced multiple times with the same issue still persisting. Then it was well if you had our modem wifi combo we can fix this issue. So we got that and nothing changed of course. We get handed business cards to people who don't return your calls or texts when the service goes out hours after they leave. Multiple houses affected but they refuse to replace the node. We haven't paid for service in 4 months although when you only get it a couple weeks out of the month if that, why should you. No one knows how to fix anything. One tech comes out and changes a splitter that another tech put in the day before claiming it was bad and that was my issue!! What a joke!!! Wouldn't you know the problem came right back the next day. 56 calls to loyalty dept. and probably 76 different people talked to in the 7 months of service. Had to fight for them to not charge us 50$ on 12 separate times because they said there was no issue with the service. WTF!!! Who would just call for no reason to have techs come out. Idiotic!! The signal disappears and reappears in a second. The lights on the modem show everything connected and with service but there is no actual signal. When tested it reads 20 mbps download and .2 upload speed. This is from the node. Next second you test it its 670 mbps download and 40 mbps upload. THEY SEE THIS AND STILL HAVE NO RESOLUTION!!!!!!!! THEY SAY ITS TO HARD, TIME CONSUMING, AND COSTLY TO CHANGE A WHOLE NODE OUT AND THEY DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S EVEN THE REASON OR IF ITS THE LINE FEEDING INTO THE NODE. GREAT MAINTENANCE TECHS!! I know why they call it WOW It's because wow this is bad! I just got off the phone with them again. This is about a weekly occurrence. This is the worst service ever. I have to reboot my modem at least once a week. Every thing I record in HD is a jumbled mess. They don't have Showtime in HD on demand. They cost more then Comcast.
