This was my second visit, and I didn't realize the restaurant had switched owners--but I immediately noticed the difference. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt refreshed, welcoming, and inviting. I was greeted by Erica, who was fantastic and took great care of me throughout my visit. I chose to sit at the bar, which was very comfortable and well set up. While going over the menu, Erica offered a few recommendations, and I decided to go with her suggestions--AMAZING is the only word that fits. She then shared that the restaurant has new ownership and that the owner is also the head chef. Everything is made to order, using high-quality, fresh meats, and you can truly taste the difference. My dish absolutely confirmed everything she described. To top it off, the owner and head chef, Carlos, personally came out to introduce himself. He asked how everything was and shared his passion, dedication, and vision for the restaurant, including exciting upgrades he has planned. You can genuinely feel his pride and commitment to quality in both the food and the experience. I will definitely be back--next time with the whole family. We had an issue here before but decided to give it a second chance; the first time, the taste of the food made up for the wait to be served. What a huge mistake. We arrived around 12:15 PM; there were about 8 people waiting, and we were told it would take 35 to 40 minutes because there were so many people (about 8 of them). The food finally arrived at 2:30 PM--a wait of 2 hours and 15 minutes--with nothing offered to compensate for the delay. I asked for a drink refill, but it never came. It was the worst *mofongo* I've ever tasted; the rice was mushy, and the meat was tough--it wasn't the kind of steak we make at home with oil, onions, and vinegar; this was just quickly seared on the griddle with onions and nothing else. I like supporting local eateries, but they never even thought to bring us something to snack on while we waited. Nothing. And when it came time to pay, it was nearly $100 for three dishes. Ever since we left Puerto Rico we have been missing the food. Nothing in Florida has come close to the quality and flavor that we had in Puerto Rico; however, this restaurant is amazing and tastes just as good as restaurants on the island. I would 100% recommending coming in Ang giving it a try. Everyone is also extremely kind and welcoming. The food takes a little longer than normal but that's to be excepted to get great quality and flavor. Heard they had good food when it had opened years ago & they are now back to the original owner. We were pleased with our food & service from Joanne she was very pleasant & attentive. Restaurant atmosphere is nice it's laid out well and has good amount of seating for a small plaza. Our family had Alcapurrias (masa & yucca) both good not many places offer yucca pleasant surprise. Not greasy & the side sauce was tasty the one thing I would say is a little bit more seasoning on the meat. The beef empanadas also were good and as for the morcillas would have liked a little crispier & needed a little more seasoning as well. Enjoyed chicken mofongo which was juicy & tasty served in small "caldero"(rice pot) and added a side of arroz con gandules. We also had beef & onion with white rice, beans & tostones. The beef was very tender, tostones perfectly cooked and the beans were a little saltier than I would prefer but still edible. Enjoyed a sample of the house coquito and that was creamy, sweet & not overdone with alcohol. We'll be back. Slow service while only two tables of people, chewy steak, overcooked shrimp (not all deveined), mofongo dry and too thick, lifted up the heavy mound of mofongo and found a hair , told the waiter discreetly and he said it was my hair; it clearly wasn't. Never again! It isn't authentic and it is confusing if they are trying to be a home cooked Puerto Rican type spot or a fancy fine dining spot. Either way, it is a fail. We dine here last night. Not much staff. The bartender. He was very nice. Came from behind the bar. Told us to sit anywhere and took our drink order. Which was brought over immediately. 30 mins later a woman came from the back. Since im assuming she didn't know who was seated first. She went to a table that had just came in first. She took their order. She then came to ours(40 min wait to get our food ordered). No one came to refresh our drinks, so i just walked to the bar to get another drink first my husband and my self. Food coming out the kitchen very slow for all tables. We had been sitting fir 1 hour and 45 mins when Hangry started setting in. I caught the waitress attention and ask for our food. She apologized saying all orders are done fresh. I get thar. But nearly 2 hours to eat. I have to plan for that. Ok. Thats Service. Now food. The food was very good. Very Puerto rican. My husband had the shrimp and mahi stuffed mofongo. The shrimp was overcooked but everything else very delicious. I order the fried pork chops and Rice with gandules. Very delicious. Pork chops were fried very well done. But thats how puerto ricans cook them. Would i go back. I want to. But they need help with service. read more

With only 6 active tables in the dinning room 2 of them ariving 20 min after us. not sure what was the issue. I've tried this place when it was called Taino, had mixed feelings, but wanted to try again with the new ownership. When we first arrived we sat ourselves , a server was setting up tables as we were sitting for almost 10 mins with no menus and no server . The server finished setting up tables and then handed us the menu and said here you go , what do you want to drink. No proper table service or customer service. We gave our order and waited 50 mins till we were told our food would come out in a couple mins . The server was just behind the bar making drinks and testing them, and the drinks weren't for any customer , he just placed them on the bar for show. While he's being a bartender he gets called to the kitchen and then comes out with our food. I had a pernil plate with rice and plantains. The meat was nothing but fat , I had no flavor and did not taste like peril , just plain fatty pork. My partner had a PR burger with peril. The burger was nothing but a big beef patty and a slice of pernil. The beef was so dry , there was burnt bacon on it and a fatty piece of pernil. He couldn't even eat the whole thing cause it was not tasteful. The chef came out and talked to the other table, the whole time we were eating no one came over . As the chef was talking about the food with the other table and didn't give us any recognition, we just asked for our check and let the serve know about the food. He apologized but didn't let any manager or let the chef know . We paid for our food but we will never be a customer there again. As Puerto ricans we look forward to eating at local restaurants represent our island. It was just ashame we didn't get a great experience . read more

Ok, this is now "Taino" Puerto Rican cuisine under NEW owners and I must say PLEASE give it a shot you will not regret it. We ordered a couple of to-go orders recently and it was honestly the best, most authentic Puerto Rican food in the area. Each meal was absolutely mouthwatering, I was practically drooling from the smell on the way home from pick up. It was even compared to my late grandmothers cooking (that's seriously how good it was). I needed to try this joint. Well, it really does not stack up to all these stars... The service is wonderful...Folks are really nice. But I come to eat...I was not WOW with my order... It was just okay...Same way as I would make at home. Also very reasonable price I will say. My entree was a thick cut pork chop with plantains and cole slaw. It did not knock off my boots. No special seasoning or other sauce was added. Just salt & pepper. Plantains were just OK. Slaw I have had better... I will be back and try a recommendation from the house the next time though. Visited this little place today with my friend who is Puertorican. Everything was great! We ordered a couple of different items to try everything out. We ordered mofongo relleno de camarón, mofongo con carne frita, a churrasco sandwich, an alcapurria, sorullitos de maíz, and tres leches. Everything had a great flavor and both my friend and her family approve! It was my first time trying the sorullitos and I wasn't a fan of them, they don't really have much flavor to me. The tres leches was very good! My only complaint is that the service is a little on the slower side as I assume they only have one cook. You can tell the food is cooked when ordered and can even hear them mashing the plantains as you wait for your food. Besides that, the customer service is great. I would suggest maybe calling your order 30 minutes ahead of time. read more

Tried for first time at lunch, decent portions! Two ladies had roast pork sandwiches (very well seasoned), I had pulled pork. Tostones and yucca fries were excellent not greasy whatsoever. Everything was freshly made to order, so it takes a few minutes more. Alcapurria, both masa and yucca also perfect. Folks next to us loved the sangria. If you like Puerto Rican food this could still be the place to go in Cape Coral. However, don't come hungry because the wait is super long! We waited an hour and a half for 2 dinners of steak and mofongo. Everyone around us was also waiting for their food. A couple ate their appetizers and after long wait when the food was served they left it untouched and walked out the door. Another couple with a young child had to get up and ask the waitress what was taking so long since the kid was so hungry. The waitresses mainly ignored or avoided eye contact due to the excessive wait for service. Nothing was offered during wait, not even water! I was asked if I wanted another juice and said yes as I thought it was courtesy due to the long wait and it got charged to my bill. Since moving to the area a few months ago we have visited WoW Sandwich & Grill several times. We have never been disappointed. It is not much to look at, location is off the beaten path, but the food is authentic and so flavorful. One of the chefs/ maybe even an owner came over to the table to assist us in ordering something more "authentic" than you basic ARROZ CON HABICHUELAS (which by the way is great there as well). Extremely disapointed in this place. I was looking forward to eating some good food but they were in chaos. They had us waiting 35 minutes for our food even after I told them I was starving when I arrived. Not feeling well and needed to eat. People started leaving and we did as well without any food because they could not get their orders straight or who knows.
