From my very first vehicle to the one I drive now, Ozzy has been the only person I trust to look at my cars. Every time I've bought a new vehicle, I brought it straight to him because I know he will give me the truth and nothing but the truth. What makes Ozzy different is his character. No matter how busy he is, if I stop by with a concern, he always listens to what I'm saying, and takes the time to explain what's going on. That kind of patience and kindness is rare. Recently, I was going through a lot personally, and on top of that, my car suddenly showed a warning saying "battery power is reduced." I was scared to even drive it. I went straight to Ozzy. He came outside, looked at everything, and instantly knew what the problem was. No matter how much prep you do for your vehicle you always forget something for me it was brakes. Specifically my rear brakes and an oil change. Working a 6/10 schedule and only having Sundays off isn't conducive to getting work down on your car. But I called peak performance and talked to Vince. We scheduled the appointment ahead a few days and I was able to get my car in. Their technicians knocked out the short laundry list of stuff on my car quickly and at a good price. I didn't lose my transportation for more than a couple hours and they even told me about a future problem they'd be happy to take care of another day. It's always a gamble on the road finding a good reputable shop with good customer service and quality techs. Peak performance is one of those good shops.

Al, the owner of R&M Automotive, took advantage of my fiancée by convincing her she needed a new…read moreradiator when she did not. She actually had a valve issue that was clearly identified on the diagnostic code he ran and was fully covered by Subaru. Despite this, Al told her the car was unsafe to drive without replacing the radiator and pushed the repair. After the radiator was replaced, the car still did not function properly. The issue was ultimately fixed at Subaru when the valve was replaced. When confronted, Al acknowledged that she probably should have gone to Subaru first, yet he offered no compensation or accountability for charging her for an unnecessary radiator and labor. This wasn't an honest mistake; it was poor judgment at best and predatory behavior at worst. I'm posting this so others can avoid the same situation. There are plenty of mechanics in the area (e.g. Everest Automotive) choose one with integrity who won't scare customers into unnecessary repairs.

My car broke down right up the street from Sweeney's so I figured that was the best place to tow it…read moreto at 5:00pm on a Tuesday night. I called and the owner (John) picked up saying I made him come back in to answer the phone since he was walking out the door but that if I got it dropped off he'd look at it the next day. I called the next morning to make sure they got the key and everything okay and was told they would look at it and give me a call. By lunchtime I got a call from John explaining that a $145 part was broken and needed to be replaced. Since it required a good amount of labor to move the trans and repace it the labor would be over $900 in addition to the part ($1200+ total). I told him that I was going to call the shop where I got the truck and see what the cost would be to fix it there - John got huffy again and said "hurry up and let me know because I have to get it the hell off my lift and its taking up space." Even by getting another tow 20 miles/a half hour the cost difference was easily in the FEW hundreds so definitely worth getting it towed AWAY from Sweeney's. I scheduled for another tow truck to take it from one shop to the other right away... When I called Sweeney's back to let them know someone was on the way I was told there was a bill waiting for me for $122 for the diagnosis. I'm not the argumentative type usually but I talked to John again and explained that I work for a living too; although I don't expect free service (his diagnosis), I was curious what he would do with that kind of cost difference and $122 when I was never told anything before was a lot more than I expected (this was the first time pricing was mentioned outside of his $1200 estimate). John was his normal demeanor and said that was how much his time to diagnose it was worth. I would have much rather paid $122 more for towing to a different place the first time and not have to deal with calling multiple tow companies, another shop, and the hassle of Sweeney's attitude and ridiculous quotes. Definitely think twice before you go here.
