It was quite hot inside. When I checked the thermostat on the wall, it said 80 degrees. What the heck?! Either they're trying to pinch pennies or something was wrong with the A/C. Regardless, no explanation was given. Outside of a toasty restaurant, Mesquite looks like your typical fast casual restaurant. Service (3.5/5): You order at the counter and they prepare your food right then and there. Ordering and paying was a seamless experience. Not terribly friendly but service isn't a big part of the experience. Drinks (3.5/5): I went with one of their fresh lemonades which I'm always about. They also have smoothies, but they're a bit pricey. So I went with the more affordable choice. Outside of that, your typical soft drinks. Food (3/5): I went with a couple of tacos to get a good variety (steak, chicken, and barbacoa). For some meats, including the steak and chicken, you have to pay an upcharge. They have a good number of sauces to choose from including salsas, sour cream, etc. I went with a nice variety here too. Plus some chips and queso. Overall, the food is pretty solid. The meats are mesquite grilled which gives them a bit of a smoky flavor. If you order three or more tacos, you get rice and beans for free. Score! While Mesquite has some kinks to work out, my meal was solid. They have a special Taco Tuesday deal if you're looking for a discount.

It was nice to find some real food and yes $10 for two sliders does appear a bit high, but it includes a cilantro lime cole slaw and two nice sized sliders loaded with their signature crispy cheese and fresh tomatoes. I had these two straight days and both days I feel I got decent value and a nice lunch. Ya know, one of those diamond in the rough kind of places. You can add bacon for $2, but not needed.
