Nothing has changed at this location despite giving constructive feedback that can help everyone. It's so frustrating when one has to keep asking for sugar, stirrer and milk to add to the drip coffee. We understand that it is not there to prevent wastage but they need to ask at time of placing your order, what the customer wants. By the time, we even get the coffee and start drinking it, it's ice cold. This location has gone downhill very fast and it's sad. Restrooms had tissue papers everywhere and bins were full. We went out of the way to come because their site advertised coffee with boba but when we arrived the barista said they don't make that anymore but couldn't really explain why. I ended up getting Vietnamese coffee but it didn't really have the strong/sweet typically viet coffee flavor - was more just a vague brewed coffee taste. 2 stars because my mom liked her coffee (mocha w/ creamer I think) and because they offer vegan pastries. Previously loved this location. Have been a frequent customer since Spring 2024. Management changed a while back and since then, so has a lot of the staff. I used to LOVE their staff -- Riley, Rose, etc. they were kind and offered that "small town" customer service feeling. They knew me, my dog, our orders etc. They seemed genuinely happy to serve people. The new staff is often inconvenienced to assist. There's a specific gentleman there now with a nose piercing who is quite curt and abrasive. Recently he scolded me for a mobile order that "you didn't pay for that" when referencing a modification that I did in fact pay for. I don't mind clarifying or asking questions, but he often talks at you instead of to you and seems frequently overwhelmed by doing his job. I showed another worker that I did in fact order what I asked for and said "he's just always so irritated" and the workers smiled and kind of shrugged acknowledging that the comment was normal and understood. I just can't understand why anyone would work in customer service if they don't understand how to serve customers -- especially first thing in the morning, which sets the tone for the day. I'm hopeful they'll be able to hire and retain more friendly and upbeat staff in the future. read more

This was the first time I tried this coffee spot, though there are several locations near me. I signed up for their rewards program and was granted a free baked good. On my first visit, I ordered a salted caramel latte and it was pretty sweet, but good. Drive-thru wasn't too busy and the cashier was friendly. On my second visit, I ordered through the app and got a blueberry scone. I parked and walked inside and it was ready at the counter. Service was extremely slow! I was 15 min early for my appt around the corner, so I decided to grab a drink. Placed a mobile order and it said it would be ready at 8:59. Appt was at 9. That's cutting it close. Watched someone pull into the drive thru and left with their order maybe a minute later, so I got in line at 8:57. Only 2 cars ahead of me. Get to the box at 8:59. Give my name and he just repeats it back and I said yes. And I waited, and waited. 3-4 min go by and a female voice says "sorry about the wait, what can I get you." So I repeat that I'm picking up a mobile order which I told him and then he disappeared. She apologizes (thank you) and says yes, I see it here. So I pull around. Other car is still at the window. They get their order and drive off. I can see in the window and male employee walks over, looks at something, think it was the order board. Doesn't even acknowledge me at the window. Girl comes over and gets some food item into the microwave. She eventually walked around him, and brought me my order. It should not have taken 20-25 minutes for me to get my order. I visited at 12 PM on a Thursday. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese in the drive-thru. I get all the way to my destination and find they gave me a microwaved roll. I don't understand how you cannot tell the difference between a role and a bagel. I was planning on this bagel being my lunch now I get to put cream cheese on a roll. Yippee for me and I'm also out nine dollars!!! could I drive all the way back and get it fixed yes but that would cost more in gas these days and then just sucking it up and eating the stupid roll! I'm not a huge fan of drive thru coffee, I like the customer service interaction, which you can't really get through a drive thru. When I arrived, I overheard an employee mocking one of the four mobile orders I had placed. I then asked another staff member for help, and she told me I had ordered the drink incorrectly and that fixing it would take a while. Regarding 16420 N. Scottsdale rd, Scottsdale AZ This is the absolute last time we will be trying to go to this store. There are no signs up whatsoever, that say it is open until a certain time, there is no sign that it is drive up only. We get to the store at 1:45 PM, and the doors are locked, chairs are on tables. But it appears the drive-through is open. But nowhere in front of the store does it state this as what is going on. This is the third or fourth time we have encountered this problem with this location. we will not be returning back here. They really need to do something about letting their loyal customers know what is going on with this location. If they can't handle it, just close it. We have been visiting this location for a couple of years now. It is nearby our house and we walk our dog there. Today we had a very strange experience. When I walked into the lobby, there was no one behind the order counter and one of the 2 baristas preparing coffee for the drive-thru window said they would be with me shortly. I stood there for about 10 minutes when someone came out from the back with a couple of printed paper signs that said lobby closed from 9 to 11. It was about 9:10 when this happened. That same person came back behind the counter and took my order and said that they were very busy. When my order of ice tea and water came I had to remind them to get a couple of muffins that were in the order that they had forgotten to include. I picked up my drinks but couldn't carry the muffins so I told them I would be back in to get them in a moment and they said OK. I placed our drinks on our outside table and when I trued to get back in the lobby to get the muffins, I found that the doors were locked. I had to wave to get their attention and someone noticed me and brought my muffins outside. At that point, one of the baristas came out and put Orange cones in front of the drive-through entrance. As they walked by me, I said I needed to get napkins and since she was locked out she had to wave someone down on the inside to let her back in. As we waited I asked her why they were closing and she said that they had to take their lunch break. When the door was open ny someone by someone inside they handed me napkins. Why they were closing the location and she said that they needed to take a lunch break. As we sat and had our muffins and drinks we saw several people drive up only to find the drive thru lanes blocked and the doors locked. My question is why would all three of the people take a lunch break at the same time at 9 o'clock on a Saturday morning? Something very strange was going on here and my wife and I speculated that maybe the employees were upset with ownership and Locking the place down in revolt. No matter what the rational was it was a very strange and offputting experience and not a good way to do business. We will not be back ! read more

I was so excited to learn The Coffee Bean has a boba milk tea drink. You can get boba with the ceylon black tea or a latte. I am a tea drinker so I opted for the ceylon milk tea. You can choose what size you wanted so I chose the smallest size possible. I had to try it out first before committing to a bigger size, ya know? Oh my, I'm so happy I got the smallest drink possible because it was nothing that resembled a boba milk tea. The tea itself tasted like water and brown sugar mixed together. There was a tea flavor but it was so muddled with the sugar and water. The boba texture was okay but it was clearly a packaged boba so the texture was inconsistent throughout the drink. In other words, it wasn't fresh boba. Also, they didn't have boba straws so I had no way of drinking the boba until I got home. I can't say I will get this drink again. Intrigued by the matcha drink I saw but I'm a little fearful to try. read more

Nice convenient drive-thru off Scottsdale/Frank Lloyd, with a solid menu of drinks and cafe food offerings. While I would absolutely go back for coffee, overall the flavors are just not always my cup of tea. I've had the coffee and a few of the specialty drinks, like some of the thai-inspired concoctions. They've been either a little too sweet for me, or if I omitted sugar, the coffee doesn't quite stand out compared to alternative shops. For the price, I would be more inclined to grab a gas station coffee (which I actually like - Circle K has stepped their game up). This location is right by mom's house at Kierland, and the back street leads right into that parking lot. So, from a personal perspective, I am sure I will be back, and I hope to be pleasantly surprised on a future coffee run. read more

Decided to try something different from my usual morning coffee routine and checked out this place, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Arriving around 7am the cafe was pretty quiet, but that was to be expected since they've recently opened. The setup was comfortable and immediately gave me the urge to sit and read a book. The one thing that lacked was a morning greeting or hello from the staff. You figure that being a new establishment, the employees would have a little more enthusiasm. Overlooking the lack of hospitality, I ordered a café latte. I'm pretty committed to the "other guys" so this was my first time trying anything. The coffee was descent, not overly strong, subtle, and I don't think I'm going to have to worry about coffee breath or tremors later. I'm pretty sure I'll go back to study at some point. This coffee bean is not great. Their customer service has always been blah here so I typically avoid them, but I went in for a latte and it was awful. The latte tasted like chemicals. I thought it was maybe just not being used to the soy milk or powder or something but after a few more sips, something was really off. I took it back and asked them to make another and again it had the same taste. There's no way that was the taste of soy or their powders. I just left and threw out the coffee and went to starbucks where I knew I'd get a consistent drink with good service. What I also didn't like about this place, is when I walked in to get my drink remade. It took them a few minutes to get to me when there was no line inside, and no one waiting for a drink inside. They had like 4 people working just for a drive through window. Starbucks would've had two people managing the drink and the window. I thought it was a complete failure on their part.
