The experience alone was great. I went on a Saturday around 4 (made reservations) and didn't have a long wait when I arrived. After my Group of two and I sit, we order appetizers, and drinks. One- they put our sushi order on the same plate, instead of different plates per customer. Two, our second round of drinks the waiter forgot my boyfriends drink, but he decided he didn't want it. Good thing we weren't charged. Three- the chef made the food good, but I could've had more butter. Also, the rice was hard but for leftovers it was perfect after warming up. Also, the chef made our group feel welcomed, especially with the Saki. Four- the drinks are STRONG With the two entree combo, three house shots of tequila, two round of drinks. But, I wish I could say this was our biggest problem, however, it wasn't. Once we were seated, the busser greeted us with water right away, as time went by, we still haven't seen our waitress. About 45 mins go by, the manager walked to the booth infront of us because they experienced a similar issue. We told him we haven't seen our waitress yet, he said he would take care of it, never saw him again. Great place for a variety of foods. We came here for a birthday dinner with a party of 5. I attempted to call to make reservations for the restaurant side (not hibachi) but I was at fault for not clarifying this. The person on the phone I spoke with said they only reservation spot they had was at 7:30pm but said we would be sat if we went in without a reservation. We got there at 6, and were sat immediately. It took a while for our server to get to us, but once she did she was pretty attentive. We agreed with waters, and a complementary edamame. I ordered sushi, which was really good, and the rest of my family ordered a variety of Chinese and Thai cuisine. Everyone loved their food. I highly recommend this place if you're not sure if you want Chinese, Thai, hibachi, or sushi. The only thing to keep in mind is that they do add 18% gratuity onto your bill, and it is noted clearly in their menu. read more

I just had a horrible dining experience at #WusHouse in Merrillville, IN! They brought my appetizer, dinner and dessert at the same doggoned time! Then, as I was trying to wolf down my food (feeling already rushed), they started cleaning the hibachi grill with strong cleaning chemicals, splashing solutions around my food!!! At first I found it strange to have teppanyaki, all you can eat sushi, and a drive through in the same building... but the building itself is beautiful inside and out. The teppanyaki was delicious. I like that they make it simple to upgrade your rice to a fried rice and serve it to you first to munch on while you're waiting for the rest of your items. The atmosphere is exciting. This place was great and they eventually delivered for us. I debated 4 or 5 stars but based on the way the evening ended, I am giving them 5. I think one of the main things they suffer from is being too popular, and I really can't fault them for that. I had a 6 p.m. reservation for hibachi on a Saturday night for my son's birthday. It took 10 minutes to check in and I was told it would be a 20-minute wait. Around 6:45 I checked in again and was told 5-10 more minutes. We were finally seated around 7:15. About 5 minutes later, the other side of our hibachi station was seated and then their server showed up while we still waited. I flagged down one of the wait staff and they got someone to us right away, and from there the night was spectacular. Food is fresh and plentiful. We all left with another meal to enjoy the next day. Ambience is lively and they really made it fun for us. So much so, that I did elect to tip them about the 18% they include automatically (I had read the sign and knew it would be included). They actually stopped me on the way out to see if that was intentional or not as they wanted to make sure I knew about the 18% already in there. Fun but very loud atmosphere. Banging drum noises and open flames scared more than one young child, so maybe not a great place for very little ones. We sat at a Hibachi table and had a great waiter and chef, but everything was rushed. Soup and salad came out together. Dinner was served and ice cream was immediately brought to the table as well. They put garlic butter on everything, and tons of it. I would definitely request no garlic butter next time as it overpowered most of the other flavors. My steak was overcooked and dry. Also beware they charge an 18% gratuity fee regardless of the party size and sitting location which I find it unfair and ridiculous. I can't believe our bill was close to $100 for two people when food is only mediocre at best! It was complete rip off!! Won't be coming back anytime soon. I didn't realize how unhealthy these folks cook until i noticed that the hibachi chef threw in two full bars of butter when he was cooking the fried rice, salmon and the filet mignon.. that absolutely ruined it for me and my guests. i didnt mind the $300 + cost, but it was way over priced compared to house of kobe.
