Unremarkable menu redeemed by the standout cumin lamb. Cumin seasoning tastes more fragrant & less salty than the typical soy sauce for the sautéed lamb. Twice-cooked pork tastes mediocre, too much salty black bean sauce. Stir-fried Berkshire pork looks & tastes very similar, if a bit less salty thanks to bell peppers. Spicy dry pot also errs on the salty side, even with mala seasoning. Golden crab roe tofu tastes average, like a preserved salty egg yolk sauce over tofu. Pork tendon soup tastes like a hastily cooked pork bean soup, with barely any tendon. Crab asparagus soup looks & tastes like a salty egg drop soup, with barely any crab or asparagus. West lake beef soup looks & tastes very similar, with the same soup base. Appetizer pricing seems prohibitive. read more

Came across this place when looking for Asian cuisine with my family. I walked in and it was fairly empty for a Sunday. The restaurant is super cute and has a good space. The food came fairly quick and the service was great. The portions were large and my family didn't think we would finish but we did because it was that good! Definitely a solid choice. Just ordered the #20 (Mapo Tofu with Beef) and #3 (Spicy Chicken Cube) via DoorDash and I must say that this is probably the best Szechuan food I've ever had. Updated: post-post COVID. I've decided to give the place another try on food delivery and it was a whole different experience. I've ordered the classic Chicken Cube, Dan Dan, Boiled Beef, and Couple Tendon. The last response regarding appetizers being made by helpers is very accurate because this time the appetizers were amazing. The Dan Dan could have used more flavor as the oil to noodle ratio was off; there wasn't enough sauce for the amount of noodles given so a bit more chili oil and dark soy sauce could help. Regardless, it was still amazing. As for the couple tendons, I would order this again every time. The main dishes, the spicy chicken cubes here are a DEFINING point of the restaurant. It is a loss to not try this dish whenever visiting: most places offer too much peppers to the point that its spicy peppers with a side of chicken. But this place makes you FULL. The boiled beef was also phenomenal but I do not have much experience with this dish to say much except that I enjoyed it. MAJOR POINT: The serving size was AMAZING. I couldn't tell how much food was enough as I ordered 2 main and 2 appetizers = $50 but MAJOR MISTAKE. That was enough food to feed 5-6 people!!! Dan Dan noodles are the only flagrant thing on the menu, I could not finish my serving. I've never had it before so I'm not sure it's a Wula problem, I suppose I just don't like the filmy feel & odd taste and after taste. Something about it just doesn't hit the palette right. - Spring/Pork egg rolls & Chili Oil Dumplings are really good. - Wula Chicken is amazing! Bless the jalapeño gods. - Spicy Boiled fish is the best and it's a multi-day serving kinda dish. The peppercorns make my tastebuds dance in the back and when you inhale and that spice wave hits...*chef's kiss*. - Kung Pao Chicken is yum. - Spicy Chicken Cube is crunchy, really good and like an appetizer since it's not exactly saucy enough for the white rice it comes with. - Double Cooked Pork is good. - Spicy Dry Pot was so busy and pricey yet boring, it's not flavorful or interesting in any way and I got the combo. - Eggplant tasted alright, nothing to write home about, but it was soggy, slimy and probably over cooked...never had it like this before. - Amazing Spicy Fish is probably the most disappointing, like old fried fish you sat out to defrost but then reheated it in the microwave - lots of promise but spongey and mildly depressing to discover such underwhelm. - Crab Asparagus Soup - another great disappointment, this soup just didn't come together in the kitchen and its unconscionable for a crab soup (in the South at that) to not hit. EXCELLENT food! They say authentic and it seems so to me. Never been to China, so I'm not certain, but the food seemed legit to me. Our waitress was very sweet and nice and took the time to make sure my wife and I understood the level of spice in our dishes. Next time I'll know to order the Boiled Beef a little less spicy. Decided I was craving spicy delicious asian food. Read the reviews, looked over the menu and decided on the dan Dan noodles and cube chicken. So let me say that visually the food looked just as good as the pictures. Fresh, colorful, and delicious! As I began to dig into the cube chicken, it was as good as I imagined. Crispy, slightly spicy, and good flavor. After about 5 min my mouth began to tingle and get a little numb from the special spices and peppers in the dish. This is we're things went downhill very fast for me. As I continued to take more bites the food began to taste very salty. Not just salty but overwhelmingly salty. I started to think maybe I was blinded by hunger at first. So I then decided to try the dan Dan noodles which looked amazing. Unfortunately, they too tasted way too salty for me to eat. I dont know if this is an individual thing but somehow the peppers or spices in the food made everything taste to salty after a few minutes. I really tried to just ignore it and mix it up with the white rice but I just couldn't get past the salty taste. The spices messed up my Taste buds. I ended up throwing away 80 percent of my food. Would I go back again...probably not! It was a lot of money for me and I don't want to take any more chances on the other dishes having the same spices. read more

Amazing food. We just ordered from Wula this afternoon, and it was SO good. Some of best Chinese food I have had in a long time. The spicy chicken cubes and sauteed water spinach were delish!! My son loved the combo low mien, too. They did curbside drop off with complimentary hand sanitization at the end, and they were wearing a mask, which I really appreciated. Dish prices may be 10% higher than other Chinese in the area, but the portions are large and the flavors sophisticated, well warranting the price differences. I've dined here pre Covid, after they're opened during Covid, and have also ordered from them via food delivery services. I've totally ordered the same dishes, and have barely deviated from them, I'm usually one for variety but the dishes I've ordered have been so good that I'd come back craving those dishes again. Everything here is way too spicy and salty. We went Mala for Sichuan food a couple days back, but Mala was much better in food and staff's service. The spicy levels specified in the menu has no consistency at all. We went for spicy chicken cube relying on its two stars of spicy level, which we can normally handle and enjoy, but it turned out the most daunting food we ever had in a few months. However, dan dan noodle with the same spicy level as the spicy chicken cube was the least spicy food aside from cucumber salad we had to order not to upset our stomach later.
