They were able to successfully fix the R button on my Nintendo 3DS (damaged after excessively playing Monster Hunter 4). The process was very simple. First I went to China Town and found the location to be a booth where you drop off and pick up items from a window (there is no door for customers). There are also cute gift ideas available for purchase, on display at the windows, such as handmade Mario & Luigi picture frames (stitched) and ChromeCast. I submitted an initial deposit and they said it would be fixed within 3-5 business days (but same-day service is available for an additional fee). I received a friendly text message on the fourth day and picked it up without a problem (and paid the rest of the cost). I checked to make sure the button worked and it did. It still works perfectly to this day (they were able to replace the button). I was playing four-year-old my Xbox 360 a few weeks ago and saw some spontaneous fuzzy lines on the screen. As I desperately tried to get Master Chief to safety, the unit turned off and I got the dreaded Red Ring of Death (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems)! The Microsoft website was confusing; it either wanted $70 plus shipping, or was telling me that pre-2010 machines would not be fixed at all. The RROD is basically just caused by crappy thermal tape on the board of the unit, so I thought fixing it locally would be better. A few weeks ago my Xbox 360 started freezing up while playing GTA V. At first, I thought it was a software issue, but quickly it turned into the dreaded RRoD (red ring of death). Google pointed me to xCubicle to have my console repaired. The result is that I now have a working machine again. Yes, I think the fan came back a bit louder, but that's not a big deal. Here's what you need to know: 1. You drop off at a window. 2. It's a $20 dollar deposit (in cash) 3. There is a 3-5 day turn-around. 3. The balance is due when you pick up the machine. 4. They guarantee their work for 90 days. I would definitely go to these guys again. You can tell from their store that they are into all things electronic and tinkering, so what they're doing appears to be a bit of a labor of love. After updating my rating to 3 stars, I was told I could get my fan replaced, but the risk is that the system will overheat again at some point. My system is pretty old, so I'm wondering if I should pre-emptively buy a new one instead of messing with this one any more (could probably sell it). I'd lose the backward compatibility, but I really don't play the old games anymore. Anyway, my point is, this place is great. Both trigger buttons stopped functioning on my Nintendo DSi, and this place seemed to have reasonable reviews and was fairly convenient to get to. It's a few minutes by foot on the same side of the block as the F train at East Broadway, which works for me. I thought this place was a walk in factory kind of store to fix things, but it wasn't like that at all when I got there. The front door has a sign that says go knock like a hobbit, which at first confused me, since...lol A woman in her mid twenties came to the door and helped me, the price to fix the buttons was 20$ down payment, and I pay the other 20$ when I pick up my console, the total was 40$, just as advertised. She gave me a receipt and asked for my phone number and email and that someone will call me within 3-5days to tell me that it was ready to be picked up. I received the call on the 3rd day and went to pick it up, and was told that there is a 90 day warranty in case of anything. My DSi has been working since so I don't think I would have to go back any sooner but I definitely recommend others to go there for fixes. read more

A few months ago I got the dreaded "YLOD" on my PS3. I took it over to xCubicle and got it back, working good as new in about three days. Fast, friendly, quality. I work in the game industry and needed by XBox to be functioning for a launch. It red ringed. I took it down at 1pm, told them I would pay for same day, they said they'd have it done in three hours. I went over to 88 Orchard and read and had coffee, and then they called me three hours later to tell me- my Xbox wasn't fixable. They offered me an upgrade to a new Slim model, but I declined, because Slims can't install HD texture packs. So what they did instead was install a complete new motherboard into my own beloved chassis at no additional charge. Took them another hour. They're awesome and I will recommend everyone I know with any Xbox issues to them. Cost less, went faster, and ultimately is probably going to last longer than sending it to Microsoft. read more

My 3DSXL had an issue where it would short out when the screen was opened. I contacted them about it and got it sent off. They contacted me rather quickly about what they were going to do, which included fixing an issue that would affect game play in the near future. With quick work, it was back in my hands within a week of paying them. There was an issue with it, however. The screen was massively discolored when playing my games (dark colors glitched out very bad) so I contacted them about this issue. After providing some images to show the issue, they agreed that they needed to take it back. So once again, it was sent off. They checked it over, fixed the issue, and sent it back to me. They issued a partial refund for the cost of shipping it back to them, and this time everything is in 100% perfect working order. They were Quick, Efficient, Polite, and I am pretty sure my case is rather uncommon (where it comes back with something off about it). I appreciate how well they kept me informed and they made sure I was alright with everything before they did it, before and after they were paid. My brother's Nintendo 3DS suddenly had an unresponsive bottom screen so he was unable to play any games on it. This was the only place I found that had reviews showing that they have repaired Nintendo systems. The place was a little confusing to find since they are located inside a building instead of having a store front, so the Yelp pictures are a little misleading. The guys there were very friendly and not only was the fix inexpensive (less than $50!) they kept in touch with me via text as well to let me know when to pick it up. AMAZING. Stumbled on this place through google cause my Playstation 80 GB (backwards compatible) would not even turn on anymore after i tried to reflow and reapply the thermal paste a third time myself. I brought it here and they charged me a $30 diagnostic fee and $70 more if they fixed the problem. Sure enough, in one day, they had my PS3 bumping and alive once again. They showed me on a monitor that it turned on and even put a game in to verify that it was reading discs. The lady associate i dealt with was very professional and courteous. Went into the store and called on the phone to get a repair done for my PS4 and 5S, but no one there seem to know a lick of what I was talking about when concerning my repair. All they seem to care about was how much they were charging me. Nobody can answer any of my technical questions or even basic questions about the quality of the things they use. if you read most of the reviews that are not five star shill reviews from empty accounts and people who work there.. You'll see they mostly fall in line with what I'm saying about the stuff they repair your goods with are cheap. Pros: reasonable price, fast service ( 2 hrs), friendly customer service Cons: I sent in my nexus 5 for a cracked screen repair, but it came back with more problems than I originally had. First, the screen itself is fine -- I can't complain about that. The wifi function, however, stopped working, so I now have to rely on 4G for internet. Even after sending it back a second time, the issue could not be fixed because it was a "rare case." Not to mention, my phone now heats up often -- a hardware issue that previously wasn't there. I brought my XBox 360 into XCubicle in December because my disk drive stopped opening. They charged me $80 for the repair, citing that I needed a new belt. After picking it up, it worked fine -- for a month. It started acting up again and finally stopped opening again altogether just last week. My girlfriend decided to see if she could repair it by watching a video on YouTube. She took the device apart and discovered that my "new belt" that cost $80 was really just a throw-away rubber band. XBoxes get hot. There is a reason you shouldn't use a rubber band. Dry rot. While she had the XBox open, she discovered that another part (a shield) had been replaced for some reason and that repair was shoddy as well. They replaced it with an incorrect part and masking taped it together. They even lost two screws that hold the case together from the inside. It's amazing that it ever worked at all. This was the only repair that I've ever had done on the Xbox, and I've had it since it was brand new. Do not take your equipment to these people. Watch a video or email me and my girlfriend will happily do it for half price. Not Kidding. read more

As I have said, after taking it in twice, I really did not want to take it back to the store to get the NFC fixed. I decided that I would take it apart myself to see what is wrong. I finally got around to get myself a repair kits, read a few site. And I found the problem. Here are the details. As I mentioned previously, when I got the phone back the second time, the back cover was loose. To be exact, there was a small bump on one edge that felt like there is something in the way so the cover could not be completely shut fit. To fixed that, they told me it was because the back is supposed to be glued back and that's why it feels loose. So they applied more glue and handed it back. As it turns out this was related to the NFC not working. Once I opened it up, there was a wire that was hanging out loose instead of fitted back into its slot where it supposed to go. That wire itself is connected fine but because it was not put back in place, it was causing the case to not able to shut properly. Why is that related to the NFC problem? As I searched online, I found one comment (https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+5+Teardown/19016) that says that when you put the phone back, you must make sure that the middle of the case also clicks. Otherwise, the NFC and the wireless charging won't work because part of those components are on the back cover and it needs to be shut properly to connect to the board. So, once I fixed the wire, I was able to put the cover back (no glue required) and now I was able to snap the back cover on to hear a click in the middle. Voilà, the NFC started working. One more thing I discovered. Is that they somehow lost 2 of the screws. There should be a total of 10 screws but there were only 8. As I said, they are just super sloppy, the repair person probably did not think that it was important to check that all wires were in place properly and that all screws are put back. read more

Sure they will fix your consoles, but they will return your consoles in a damaged state. The NDS Lite that I had taken to xCubicle to repair worked afterwards but the external shell was completely scratched up. I provided photographs showing that my NDS Lite was in perfect condition (I had installed a custom shell so there were no marks or scratches) and I provided photographs of what my NDS Lite looked like after they repaired it, which was scratched up all over on the front and the back. However, xCubicle refused to provide appropriate compensation and I am now contacting the Better Business Bureau in order to sort things out. Long story short: GO ANYWHERE ELSE. This place does not accept that they made mistakes and they will continue to try and pass the blame onto you if there are any damages. read more

Look, I am a techie kind of a guy, so when something breaks I will try and fix it myself, and if I can't I'll take it to the Mfg. My PSP 1000 was broken, I read all I could online and felt like I had a good idea what was wrong, but I could not be sure. I brought the PSP to XCubicle and they had an idea for a quick fix, but it didn't work out, the MB had to be replaced (Which BTW was what I was figuring anyway) They took care of it and I had it back the next day, fully functional (My PSP had been broken for nearly a year) The price was reasonable and by that I mean less then half of what a new device would cost. But you cannot buy a new PSP 1000 anymore can you. They do all sorts of work there including fixing RROD and burnt out Blue Ray Lasers, they are super nice and friendly.
