This is a bit of an overdue review but Xenses park was fun! Hubby and I came last year to celebrate our ten year anniversary. A colleague recommended we do an excursion to Xenses since we've done others by Xcaret in previous years. My favorite activities were the Pueblo and the Xensatorium. These activities really messed with our senses. The zip line and waterslide were also pretty fun and memorable. Park was not crowded and I remember it was like a half day excursion. Lunch is not included. Definitely worth doing. read more

Small park that lends itself to Xelfies. You could spend all day here, but you can get through all of it in a few hours. Your biggest snags will be the lines for the water slides, bird flight, and the Xensatorium. There is a fast pass for the bird flight experience. The kids and I really wanted to check this place out. It had been a long time since we had been here. Since it's a smaller park, it can be overlooked, but the park really tests the five senses. When you first get in you will have the ability to see the various optical illusions (via mirrors, special effects, or room layouts) and take selfies of those moments. The lobby imhas several selfie experiences, starting from the entrance to the locker rooms. Then there's the pueblo, where you will run into an upside down town. You think you are walking uphill but feel the opposite. There will be other opportunities to take selfies of you being in the ceiling, standing over a bottomless pit, or jumping towards the ground...it's all crazy in the Pueblo Abajo Town. The Xensatorium will have you enter a totally darkened tunnel where you will have to use the rest of your senses to feel, smell, and listen your way through the cave...cold, wet, warm, breezy, misty, ...finally ending in a cavern. The bird experience is extremely short, but it heads up the way to the heated float pools, and the muddy river, ...bucket showers will clean you off and you're onto the next one. I thought it was fun, and you can stay there as long as you like. The one thing I don't like about it is the Xnack bar isn't free, you have to pay for the food here...unlike the other parks. I honestly didn't want to post too many pictures because I want people to experience it for themselves. I came here as part of a cruise excursion. It was a lot of fun. Staff was very helpful. Cost of an admission is pretty normal for a tourist attraction. You can easily spend 3-5 hours here. I recommend buying the unlimited pictures package, it's worth it and the pictures turn out well. This place is sooo fun! It's more like a hands on children's museum then an amusement park but we were totally immersed and loved the mind bends!!! I don't do Zip lining but there was one that my husband enjoyed. It's so nice because it's a little low key compared to the other parks here so you can take it easy and go through with the kids in a short time (not like the other parks/excursions that can trap you all day long) and get back to your hotel for a nice lunch. This is our favorite Xcaret park! It is so much fun and would be great for kids as well as adults. This park is different from the other parks because it only takes about 3-5 hours to get through everything. So if you have a rainy morning this is a great option! Definitely get a locker for your items and just wear your swimsuit as you go through the park. You will be in and out of the water and you won't want to store your precious items in the cubbies. Lock them up! I do recommend carrying your phone in one of those waterproof cases so you can take pictures. There are so many photo opportunities. The craziest most unique experience everrrr!Different cool adventurous activities to do here.But by far the STAR of the show was Walking thru a long pitch black tunnel guessing a half a mile long and having to depend on all of your "senses" excluding Vision!When I say pitch black...I couldn't even see my hand even when I put it right in front of my face!It was super intense and nerve racking!Borderline triggering anxiety and claustrophobia!U have to be Mentally Tough to get thru this for sure!With different smells,scents,wet,dry,wind,rough,smooth,hot and cold being introduced the further u went in.I also need to mention u do this barefoot and it took a good 15 mins inching your way thru to Survive but felt like an eternity!It was INSANELY Creepy in an awesome way and most of all FUN! read more

We were originally told by the workers here that the park closes at seven and the activities end at six. Me being from Chicago traveling I was very excited for the xensatorium activity. We arrived at the xensatorium around 5:40 to finish off the day but the lady there said that we cannot go on even though it's well before six. We tried to talk to them about possibly getting a refund, but the only thing they offered was free photos or a free day at Xenses which I thought was ridiculous because we already explored the entire park besides that last activity. Long story short I'm extremely disappointed in the fact that this wasn't communicated to us earlier as well as we were told that we could be going to activities until six. The lady who was trying to help out really deserves some recognition But the lady at the last activity was nothing but rude and had attitude towards us. read more

This park is different in that you do feel a little off balance from some of the attractions. There are some great photo opportunities though. The best attraction was the bird flight. It's a zip line where you hover above the ground like a bird. The attraction where you go into a dark cave is a little challenging if you get claustrophobic. My wife injured herself and had to exit. So many pictures to take here! It's mostly pictures and illusions here. There's a "city" you pass by and you are basically slanted when you think "your standing straight" The only "activities" your able to do in the park are the slide that lands in a pool and the mud bath and relaxation clear water bath. Also the dark tunnel! Where you can only use your hands feet and hearing to find your exit! Not sight! Which is scary but it's sooo cool! I didn't but the picture package although there were awesome angels!! I got some good ones on my iPhone. It was $70 for a chip for some random pics and some good ones lol... This park was my fiancés idea and i was not disappointed. I would love to come back with my son. I had no idea of what the park was or what it was about and our guide just played a video on the bus but didn't give us any details. We really didn't want to get too wet so we didn't do any of the water activities. I'd say go having the water activities in mind. I think it would've been more fun to do them. The town is hidden and some of the other activities. We got the bracelets for the pictures. Unlimited for for the price and they're delivered electronically. The cameras are set up for like a selfie which is easier but there is sort of a timer. Some pictures I'd take and my fiancé would use his bracelet since he didn't plan on taking the picture. It was getting on my nerves the people that were taking pictures with their personal phones cause they would be photo bombing in our pictures so make sure no one is around when taking your pictures or view them at the screens. This way you know if you needed to do the picture again before leaving the park. Uummm, what else? There's no map for you to carry so you'll have to look at the one on the wall. It can seem a bit confusing if you're not a good map reader, it's really a lost art since google maps (mapquest days are over). There are green and red arrows on the ground so be mindful of those. There's a food spot there and the menu on the inside isn't all that's available. There's a grill outside with a different menu as well. As I mentioned before there are hidden cameras (activities) everywhere, so use the restroom and go to the grill. read more

The 13-year-old L. L. G.'s son of cardiologist Miguel Angel Luna Calvo lost his life in the XENSES Park facility last Saturday March 27, while enjoying the mud river attraction. The minor was sucked into the filtration system, which had the main lid open; although his father tried to rescue him, he was being sucked out... he managed to get out with the help of other people, while the minor lost his life hours later .. The force of the machine's suction would have pulled one of his limbs. ′′ My son's leg was sucked into the river filtration system, at that time I pulled it, removed the grate and pulled my son; when the park staff came to provide help I requested a respirator from the staff, I am a doctor, i am a cardiologist. As the ambulance arrived I gave him mouth-to-mouth breath, minutes later the ambulance came without oxygen, staff have no idea what first responders are. Hence we arrived at Amerimed hospital, my son needed a catheter and they didn't put it on, I offered as a cardiologist to put it on, it's my specialty, I'm an expert on that and they did n ' nt leave me, I asked there to move my son to the city from Mexico via air ambulance and I had a few differences with the medical staff at the hospital, they didn't leave me, I got the impression they did not want my son to leave Quintana Roo. I was already in contact with doctors in Mexico City; the next day, Sunday 28 at 11:50 am my son passed away ". With the voice climbed, Mr. Luna Calvo recounts the moments of terror that lived in XENSES Xcaret group park. It should be noted that when the minor's father wanted to activate his elderly health insurance to pay the hospital bill, he was not allowed, hospital administrative staff pointed to him that everything was already paid. ′′ I don't know who paid the bill, I wanted to pay, I have my medical expense insurance, I activated it with my American Express card and AXA my Insurer, they didn't let me pay, that can't be, like they wanted to buy me, I wanted to pay!. What we wanted at the time was to have the body of my son; at that time my wife and I did not think of fighting anything, she was already suffering a lot, she is a very kind woman and asked me not to fight, we did not want to fight, We wanted to take off, and that's why I signed them ". In the interview given, Sir Michelangelo Luna Calvo pointed out that the 1675/2021 investigative folder is not open as a manslaughter, it is made as a special case and in the death certificate it says he died from drowning, never activated on 911 which is mandatory in those cases. Yesterday that was already the body of my son here, I saw him in the coffin and asked my son for forgiveness; this can not go unpunished, because this can happen to another child, that is why Mexico does not change, because never Injustices are punished, what I'm looking for is responsible, this can't be happening, my 13 year old son died from park negligence; if this we don't make it public, it's going to keep happening ". This case was concealed by the staff of the Xenses Park as well as the State of Quintana Roo, who are protecting the refereeies of the XCARET group, which is known worldwide for its attractions; the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo not yet has issued information about it. At the end of the interview, the father of 13-year-old L. L. G. mentioned that in times of crisis everything is allowed, except to be quiet. Mr. Luna Calvo's lawyer is trying to investigate the facts, although the State Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo first provided them with a number of investigative folder that was not in the case; the correct fact is already mentioned earlier. Unofficial sources say that according to police report, the minor was urgently admitted to the Ameried Particular Service Clinic at four o'clock last Saturday, March 27, by drowning by submersion, as well as having multiple injuries in both legs. Although stabilized, the child died the following day before noon from lung bleeding, the result of drowning. However, I just read the story of fatal accident of 13 year old boy, and whole ordeal of what his father went through in the park, and then at the hospital. Not only will I NEVER EVER visit this resort, but I'm also disgusted by how Xcaret Xenses tried to cover-up the whole situation. What kind of evil company makes a father bargain for his kid's dead body in exchange for legal forgiveness? Our second time visiting this park and just love it. We were 14 of us from 4 years old to 60's. So much fun and so different. The water slide is exhilarating, the bird flight fun, the 'town' very different in a great way, the mud float unique and enjoyed. Highly recommend this park, over most of the others, Xcaret is also beautiful, but mostly walking, or eating on the mariachi boat party, with the exception of Xplore which seems like More Xtreme adventuring like Indiana Jones themed. Xenses was great, worth it. I highly recommend purchasing the photos as the images are taken in specific angles for the best results, as well as there is a lot of floating or splashing in water and mud bath at one point. Basically what lure me in most is It's a sensory experience themed park. It's based off of art, installations and optical illusions, all photographed, sold! The first thing we did was enter individually without shoes, into a little cave where your senses all guide you, except vision. It was a little freaky, glad I got that out of the way first.. I would say maybe a bit scary for children as I know some adults did not end up walking through it alone and came back out the entrance after a mere few steps in. It's a bit intense as you navigate your way through the darkness you literally feel your way out, walking barefoot through all the eco systems in attempting to guess which environment you're walking through. You smell the humidity and feel the heat and water a bridge at some point. Really gratifying once you get out. Majority is found within the dome as you enter the central space. I'd suggest maybe just going in with a bathing Suit or clothes you don't care to get dirty in. I was in a dress with shorts underneath just in case.. which was a good idea in the end.. There is also a water slide, zip line, relaxing salt water cave floating bath and then a muddy slippery bath similarly through the caves. I actually came here just before my returning flight back home, as it is closer than the island I was on Cozumel, from there I caught the 7AM ferry to Playa Del Carmen where I caught a bus what dropped me off at the stop where the bus stop hut covered for shade, picks up guests and drops each off at the round about entrance of the park they're trying to see. I found xenses to be totally doable just before my flight as it was like enough to spend time in each section and see some of the places twice. I managed to arrive as it opened at 9AM and spent about 2 hours though I could've totally spent another hour even. From there I caught a cab to the airport and it was all so conviently situated near by, everyone is super friendly and helpful from the people who you purchase tickets from to when you leave your luggage as I did and explain to you the park overal. read more

What if you didn't have to live on the leash of your senses and you could enter a world that allows you to test your mind and take your senses on a rollercoaster of fun? Xenses is a uniquely XENSATIONAL park and I had never experienced anything like it. Upon arrival we were easily able to purchase our tickets and were explained the photo package. Don't be cheap like most of the people who complain in the negative TripAdvisor reviews, splurge and get the photo package as it will take the perfect shots at the perfect angles to truly stimulate the perception of what you are experiencing that moment!! If you purpose the photo package from the get go it is cheaper then purchasing the package at the end. We were a family of 5 and paid $80 for all the pictures (and we took about 400). The only bad thing I have to say about the photo package is that the images aren't printable quality and are intended for social media use. Once inside, choose your the destiny for your senses for the next few hours. We first started with the Xensatorium. My husband had to stay with our 9 month old because the attractions aren't intended for young children (I would say 4-5 and older). My hubby was cool with it because he was able to take advantage of the photo package and go on a sensory photo shoot with our little one. Close your eyes, clear the passage of your nostrils, open your arms and get ready to take an adventure through different climates . Rely on your touch to guide you through a simulated desert, jungle, forest, caves, beach, etc. The Xensatorium was cool way to start our Xenses xperience! Give yourself about 45 minutes to walk to the Xensatorium, experience the Xensatorium and then exit. Along the way you will find a ton of cool photo opps, beautiful sceneries and a "xitric" garden where you can sip on natural lemon juice that is extracted from the garden of lemon trees! After the Xensatorium, we ventured through the heartbeat and into "El Pueblo" (town). Watch out, and beware that your mind doesn't trick the body too much with the devious optical illusions! At some point walking through El Pueblo I didn't know if I was walking up or downhill because I was walking up down hill( or what I thought was down) and the stream was flowing uphill. El Pueblo will definitely test your balance as you store hop from one optical illusion to the other. El Pueblo was one of my faves about Xenses! Our next adventure was taking the plunge on the slide which was tons of fun despite the ghastly cold water. From the slide, it was super easy to navigate to the next bird flight attraction. The bird flight was nice, but nothing special. If you have been to Selvática or Xplor (which are true zip lining parks), this bird flight will seem extreamly short and lame. After taking the plunge down the side a few times and taking flight, we followed the tunnel to the salt river. It was warm, soothing and relaxing! It was as if I was on my honeymoon again, floating in the Dead Sea of Israel! From here we then went through the sludgerie mud river rather quickly. Imagine going from a nice hot tub to a cold river... did it stimulate my skin to have goosebumps all over? Absolutely! But I will say that my skin felt silky smooth after quickly going through the sludgerie! The rain attraction I found a bit lame as it was like a light sprinkler system spraying me from all directions... almost like a car wash. After a morning full of fun, you can imagine the sense of our empty tummies! So we then went to the cafe to order some "pinchos"/kabobs. They were a little over cooked and took 30 minutes to come out but they hit the spot. Xenses catered to our group that ranged from 67 years of age to 9 months. I would say that this isn't a park for young children, so if you will be courageous like us, I would just recommend going with the mentality that you will have to take turns alternating. One of the coolest things about this park is that it was pretty empty. We went during the week so we didn't see any crowds. This was one of the things I liked most about this park since we NEVER had to wait in any lines and always walked straight into the attraction. The tour that I joined was the morning tour 8:30 am -2pm. The parking lot was pretty empty in the morning and I was able go thru the Way of Dwarfs and Giants and Underground Arteries Labyrinth (dry side) with no line and in decent amount of time. The layout is entrance bring you to the Lobby ( Xensatorium ) and from there you can ask the Staff to do the locker and then be ready to do the dry rides or thru TOWN ( Which have the wet rides as well ). The tour guys recommended me to do the dry side 1st and then the TOWN the wet ones. In retro, I would said do the Wet ones via the TOWN 1st and then change to do the other dry side. Save the picture taking from Xensatorium (lobby) area for last . I spend 30-45 mins taking pictures there with the different special effect then the crowd slowly built up for the other rides. My recommendation is , change in the locker , got to the TOWN & the 5 rides , then go back to the Way of Dwarfs and Underground Arteries Labyrinth and then do the photos at the Xensatorium. The TOWN is the main area where you enter and go to the 5 rides at that area you pass thru the "Town" to the Rides 1) Slip Water side 2) Bird Flight (BEST RIDE - will get some wet ) - Go early line start forming around 12 noon. 3) Riverlaxing (Salt River) 4) Sludgerie ( Mud River ) 5) Rain (Wet ) There are alternative path that let you bypass any of those rides , I skipped the mud river.. (lol) Bird Flight is the best ride (you get to soar thru the air in a zipline like roller coaster ) but it only last about 45 seconds according to the staff. This was the only ride I got on line for 2nd time. The harness and putting you on take a while so the line build up fast. Thru the Lobby Xensatorium you can reach the other "DRY " side Labyrinth of Underground Arteries ( If you are afraid of the dark or small spaces) this is not for you. Overall it was very interactive, If you already done Xplor & Xelha/Xcaret and wanted to do something different for half day, this is a good choice. The best ride for me was teh Bird Flight and the walk thru the TOWN ( you have to experience it yourself with the walk ) After our fun day at Xenses , we barely made it back at our all inclusive resort at 2:40 pm in Rivera Maya and was able to do the lunch buffet before it closed and enjoyed the pools.. If you can only do 2 of the X parks, I would said Xplor & Xelha would be my 1st choices. Trying to make sense of this all .... I have to say, I am impressed. This park is quite unique. Essentially it has 4 attractions. The strangest is a journey through Earths ecosystems in total darkness while barefoot. Frankly, still thinking about this a few days later. Imagine, being able to experiment with your sense of smell, touch, feel, hearing and thermoreception. The end was pretty emotional Inside for me. The upside, gravity defying, whimsical town was pretty awesome and a must see. The underground "ant farm" of water features was neat as well. Frankly, a solid addition to the Xcaret family that takes about 4 hours to complete. Side note: snack bar had the best grilled beef tacos! read more

Getting to the park from the Royal Sands is a nightmare. You wake up at 6am because you have to be at the bus at 7am. Then the bus doesn't show up until 7:20 am. Then they shuttle you to another bus 20 minutes away, where they made people from all over switch buses. In fact, we got on the bus and watched as they filled the bus up with people, then asked where they were going, then told them to get off the bus. We were still sitting. We waited for them to fill the bus up with people for 45 minutes before we left before being told, "this is always the way we did it." Um no. The bus guide could have cared less. Xenses is a smaller park but and they limited the time you have there due to the bus arrangements. Are the parks nice? Yes but next time I'll just sit on the beach, not worth the hassle. Xenses was awesome a definite must see if you're in the Cancun area or near Playa Del Carmen. This place is called Xenses, however it's X is substituting the S. Senses messes with your mind. An awesome place to bring the family and test your senses. This place is a trip. Relax floating through a cave in warm water and then again down a mud cave, rush down a jungle slip right into the dome refreshing water, than the Flying zip-line. Check out the Pueblo that will mess with your mind. What these engineers and architects did here at this park is amazing. The food is also good. You can eat fresh cooked food outside or go for the ready made food in the store. It's a must see and worth the cost to go. We will definitely be back again. read more

Park is nice but they need to work on the entrance procedure. We were led in after siging a waiver not knowing you also needed another bracelet with locker key and photo pass. Wasted lot of time in front for over 30 mins while a red shirted lady was trying to juggle everyone questions around her. 2 sessions per day first until 2 pm and second until 7pm. mostly a photo place. read more

This park was great! Initially we thought it was going to be a bit cheesy but it ended up being super cool! Some of our favorite parts were the town and the mud river. Every part of this site was interactive, as well as there was no lines, which is always great. One tip though, in the begging you are given bands to scan so you'll be able to take photos all around the site, and at the end you're given the option to buy them, they are then priced by how many people's bands you want to buy, so the best idea is to use one persons band to take most of your photos. So you can get the most bang for your buck. But other then that the layout was great and super fun for nearly all ages. (Probably want to be 6+) read more

Multi-sensory experiences abound - but mostly this park seems set up to take selfies (with cameras and hints on where and how to pose all over the park). If you don't want to buy a photo package and/or want to take your own photos (with a cell phone) keep in mind that this is also a water park and anything you have WILL get wet. So either leave everything in the lockers provided or be SURE to waterproof anything you choose to carry with you. The only real dry area is near the entrance/exit/heart. Even the non-water areas often have some part that could get you wet. My favorite part is walking through the town - that somehow still feels not level even if you close your eyes. If you actually like not seeing, there is also an area of the park where you have to explore without being able to see. Mostly, though, this park is about getting wet (and wild) and taking photos of oneself. read more

Great place for a short day trip. Really amazing experience where nothing is what is seems. Great optical illusions and a lot of humor went into designing every part of the park. The tobogán and bird flight are absolutely amazing, just with they would be a bit longer. read more

Reminded me a lot of the Netflix series Brain Games. I was not a fan of the customer service after the first attraction. I was walking through the dark and panicked, so I did as they told us before it we need assistance. Rather than assisting me down the path, he directed me to the exit. read more

We came here & didnt have any idea what to expect. Started out not too sure but then went into the pueblo, a town that really messes with your perceptions, downhill is uphill. Then the water slide, soar like a bird (short zip coaster), relaxing river through a cave, sludgerie (relaxing river made out of mud), etc. Better than we expected. Two boys 10 &12 loved it. No crowds at all. Spring for the picture package, it is worth it. read more
