I really want to say that my experience with Xfinity/Comcast was the best ever. I have been a customer for over 14 years. I went online to make an appointment at the 3070 East 9th St store in Oakland off Fruitvale Ave. My appointment was at 10am. When I arrived, the store wasn't opened yet and there were 6 people in line already. Upon opening their doors, a male employee came outside to greet us and called out my name. Evidently I was the only one that made an online appointment.....so I was brought to the front of the line. A lady checked me in and said that a Sales Consultant by the name of Tamara Gonzales was going to help me. She escorted me to her window and my experience with a company was never so good. Tamara was so personable and knowledgeable about everything and the best part knew how to cross sell other items. Tamara knew everything about products, plans and prices. Besides she was so nice. I was in and out out of there in NO time, with my new equipment . All the employees/staff at this location were happy and helpful. I do have to say that the District, Regional and Store Manager show all be proud at a job well done. They picked and hired the right employees as well as trained the well. All their efforts will pay off in both the short and long run. Please be sure to pat Tamara Gonzales on the back and tell her that a customer went out of his way to write this. Unfortunately, as nice as the sales reps seem in person, they will lie to get you to renew your contract. They'll pretty much talk to you like your new best friend, but guess what, they are essentially just conning you. I think like most people know, we know the tactics of temporary promotions and how after 12 months the bill can change. After assuring us that nothing would change after 12 months, well guess what, almost a 20% increase in our bill. I don't know if Direct TV is any better, but I may let them buy out my contract because of unethical Comcast is in their sales. I've had a tough time dealing with phone support for our Comcast acct. It was frustrating to get answers and they kept running me in circles. I decided to go and actually talk face to face with a customer service representative. I just walked in this Xfinity store and the staff was polite and extremely helpful. I explained my problem and they actually listened to me. In a matter of 15 minutes, all my questions had been answered and all my problems solved. This is top notch customer service. I went in frustrated and red in the face and walked out calm and relieved. I don't think anyone can do more than that for their customers. 5 stars isn't enough to show my gratitude and appreciation. read more

After my roommate and I called customer service about 10 times over 2 days because our wifi in our apartment was so unreliable I went to the store to switch the modem out. Bennie was great! Got me a new modem, new cables, immediately. No line, no wait. Super nice guy, double checked what we are paying for our services in case any promotions would be a good fit for us (no pressure!). Thanks Bennie! His associate, Leonard was also there and he was also so nice! I really appreciate how quickly they helped me. They just made it so damn easy! I moved to a new house; I had appointments for my internet installation and each time the technician told me that he cannot complete the job. I thought maybe I could get a better service if I visit a Comcast store rather than talking to someone in another continent on the phone, so I decided to visit the store. The customer service could not care less about my issue and basically told me either wait for a month for your internet installation or get your service from other internet providers. Living in Alameda makes it almost impossible to get another cable service. If I were writing a review for Comcast itself, it would be a 1. BUT this review is not for Comcast as a service, it's for the location to receive (and drop off equipment) so, three stars. The location of this store isn't too bad if you live in Alameda or East Oakland. It's near a freeway and has enough parking to service the Comcast clients. So there's a plus. You can come here to pay your bills, pick up/drop off equipment, and probably do a few other things. I've only been twice as I had cable and internet provided through Comcast then cut the chord for cable. (What up Chromecast). The pick-up wasn't too bad. I think the hardest part of this location is the waiting to get your name in, then waiting to be served. There could be a faster way to put your name in like at ATT, someone walks around to get your name into the queue. This place is a bit dysfunctional in that regard. I also ended my cable services so I went to drop off the equipment. Now, I have a fear of it being stolen so I went inside to have someone scan it in as the drop off box was overflowing. They should seriously dump that thing more often but whatever, not my job. In my times there, the staff was friendly and the store was clean. Xfinity is overly problematic. I am not sure why I do not simply remove Xfinity from my home. If I was able to give Xfinity a negative rating of stars I most certainly would...meh ;( My two stars are most undeservingly not for Xfinity, per se, but for Marquis, the Xfinity service professional who helped momentarily resolve my issue. He was pleasant and helpful. I wish I could award Marquis with five stars, but unfortunately I cannot review only Marquis, he was great, but Xfinity is awful. I called last night, and of course my call was out-sourced. After a long and uncomfortable call with "Mark," he scheduled me for service today. Marquis arrived in a timely fashion, and for that I was impressed. My previous run-ins with Xfinity have not been as pleasant. Apparently, my random mix of bad Xfinity equipment needs to be replaced. Why do they not give you working equipment in the first place? Now, I have to call Xfinity and make sure they are sending me an "all in one router" and ask about my internet speed. So... this is difficult for me because I hate Comcast in general, but I've always had really good experiences at the XFINITY store. I've experienced long wait times and short wait times, but I'm always helped. The customer service folks in the store are SUPER nice, friendly, and always help me to find a GREAT deal that fits my budget and needs. (I pay around $50/mo for basic cable with HBO and high speed internet!!) I like the folks in the store, but Comcast customer service on the phone sucks, and sometimes the internet service itself sucks - they say you have a certain speed but you NEVER actually get that speed... This 5 star rating is for Eunice at the Fruitvale location ONLY. Comcast as a company, and ESPECIALLY their telephone "customer service" line, get ZERO STARS from me. Over the past 2 months I've spoken with more than 10 different people on the customer service line, and every single one of them has told me a different thing- and they ALL TURNED OUT TO BE WRONG. They clearly aren't getting any real training, and when they don't know the answer they just MAKE SHIT UP. And what's worse, I've been placed on hold for 40 minutes or MORE a number of times, and even hung up on once. Let me tell you my story: After the GRUELING process of getting my internet and cable tv set up in our apartment (which I'll spare you because it's not related to this current drama) I was under the impression that for 6 months I'd have fast internet and cable tv plus DVR for just $80/ month Then, when our first bill came it was about $50 higher than that, and whenI looked into it a little more closely and found that there were FOUR SEPARATE MONTHLY FEES that NONE of the "customer service reps" we'd talked to during the process of setting up the service had told us we would be paying. So we decided we didn't want cable tv. And I called Comcast again to make this change. At that time I had paid 2 bills: the 1st when I moved in mid December, and the 2nd some time in early January. When I called to cancel my cable tv, I was told the following: - The bill I had just paid went through March 5th, so I had the choice of keeping cable TV through the 5th and then having it shut off, or shutting it off that day and getting a credit (for like $17) on my next bill. I opted to keep cable TV through March 5th. - Getting the internet that I currently had by itself would now cost around $100/ month (because we weren't bundling anymore) but the rep could get me a slower internet service for $50/month for 6 months I said fine, I'd go with the slower internet, and confirmed again that my TV service would remain on until March 5th. The next day we woke up and had no cable TV. So I called AGAIN and spoke with a rep who told me that, in fact, my last bill had covered service THROUGH FEBRUARY 21ST (I have NO idea where the March 5th date came from) and that he could turn it back on for me by remotely resetting our DVR box. He did so, and then, stating that the process would take about 45 minutes to fully cycle, told me he'd call me back to check on me in 1 hour. Two hours went by. No call and still no TV. So I called back, and to slightly shorten this story I will just say that I went through this whole scenario TWO MORE TIMES, with ALL THREE OF THE REPS telling me they'd call me back to check in in 45 mins - 1 hour and NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM ACTUALLY CALLING ME BACK. Some time during the process we did get SOME of our cable channels turned back on, but not all of them. I also confirmed with EACH PERSON I SPOKE WITH, including one supervisor, that once my tv came back on it would be on until FEBRUARY 21ST, and then it would SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY AND I WOULDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. Not wanting to deal with it anymore we just lived with some missing channels for the rest of the month. And then February 21st rolled around, and GUESS WHAT?!?! THE CABLE TV DIDN'T TURN OFF! So I looked at my bill I discovered that, indeed, we were still being charged for cable tv. They had made some adjustments- they had switched our internet to the slower speed and removed our "bundle" deal, so that we were now paying for internet and cable as separate items (which made them more expensive)- but there was no mention of turning the tv service off. So I called again. On Monday, February 25th. I reached a rep and told her my story, and she said "sorry, but there's nothing we can do about that". So I asked to speak to a supervisor and, I KID YOU NOT, she HUNG UP on me. So I called back again and this time I was placed on hold for 25 minutes, at which point I hung up. I called two more times during the week and BOTH times I was placed on hold (once for the "disconnect department" and once for a supervisor) and NO ONE EVER CAME BACK ON THE LINE. On Wednesday I was on hold for 45 minutes, and on Thursday I was on hold for ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES. That's when I decided I would just have to deal with this at the store, in person. So that's where I went today, and within 10 minutes Eunice made everything right. She canceled my cable TV (I had brought the DVR box in to the store with me, just on a hunch, even though NONE OF THE REPS I SPOKE WITH EVER TOLD ME I'D NEED TO DO SO) and she refunded me for the days since February 21st that I wasn't supposed to be paying for cable tv. She then found me a better promotional deal for internet- two steps up from what the phone person gave me for the same $50/month for 6 months. She was friendly, polite, apologetic, and competent. Which cannot be said about ANY of the people I spoke to on the phone. read more

Absolutely the WORST customer service I've ever encountered in any establishment. Rude, condescending employees who give you incorrect/different information every time you step foot in the door. I've been told a simple name change on my account would take 1) a few minutes, 2) 3-5 business days, 3) 1-2 months. WHICH IS IT?!?! I was also told no interruptions to my service would occur after they processed the name change, but sure enough they cut off my 1) Phone line, 2) Wireless internet and 3) Cable TV randomly last night. After running into countless error messages on their self-service website, I finally called into their 1-855-OK-BEGIN piece-of-sh*t support line. No one was able to help me. I was transferred from their 1) Activation Line to their 2) General Support Line to their 3) Billing Line to their 4) Outsourced India line and finally to 5) India's management team. ARE YOU INSANE?!?! 4 times. 2 hours of troubleshooting later (on a weekend), nothing works. Mind you, I complied with the proper steps of disconnecting my service within a week, returned the equipment in less than 2 wks, yet after multiple calls to customer service (on hold for over 15min at a time and then getting hung up on and directed to a "supervisor" but keeps ringing and ringing (liars), and even chatting with an online representative..they tell you the same BS that it will be either resolved, "escalated" or better yet, accuse you for this and that. Wow. Don't ever believe their 30 day guarantee crap. They are full of &**t. Some reps are nice (reading a script of course) or just plain mean and incompetent. So after 4 months of trying to reconcile this incorrect outstanding balance and unwarranted collection calls, and looking at forums online as to any avenues to resolve this..I thought I was SOL. But I think my time this evening with Eunice, who helped me return my rental modem and also schedule an appointment to fix my mom's xfinity telephone service, was just about the most enjoyable conversation I've had all month... and was probably one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Eunice was so helpful, found me some deals without me asking, mentioned a few services I might be interested in without being pushy about it, and had a genuine, friendly personal conversation with me too. I know comcast had a reputation 4 for terrible customer service, and I thought it was pretty silly when they rebranded as xfinity... as if a new name would help their image. All this company really needs to do to have a stellar reputation is train all its employees to be like Eunice. Not sure if I should mention this... But Eunice is 70 years old. (She doesn't look a day over 55....) And she is way, way sharper than any customer service reps you get on the phone these days. I cancelled my service with Comcast last year 9/17/21 because of Identity Theft. My internet service was being shared with my neighbors. Since I have disconnected my service, I have recently discovered my service was infact still going. I returned equipment and completed a Identity, fraudulent theft report with police report. I would have thought, I would receive a courtesy call since Comcast was aware of the problem. I could have been notified or asked was I aware that the service was still on or did I no. Why would I return the equipment and still want service after explaining everything? This company has done nothing at all since I have reported this to them. For some of my troubles I did receive a fake check from Comcast. I was unable to cash. It is now June 23, 2022. My service has still been on. I should not have had to interrupt or think I interrupted my service because of (Unauthorized Usage). read more

The person that finally helped me made a grand announcement that he, "helped me in 2 mins", obviously disrespecting all the time spent waiting. Inefficient and arrogant. Horrible, horrible attitude. So we switch, my complaints are so much: DVR won't record the whole program, system keeps crashing & resetting, it's even slow on responding when I touch the remote. Check-in at the front desk and they log you into a queue, which allows you to lounge around the shop until they call your name. Waited about 7 minutes before being called to drop off my equipment...which I highly recommend you drop it off in person so that you can get a receipt, rather than dropping it off into their outdoor dropbox. As a Service Center, they were fine. While the 1-star reviewers may have a point about the actual Comcast service, ranting about it under the Service Center location doesn't help anyone evaluate the actual services being performed at the shop. read more

Yesterday I agreed on a package costing about $250 a month. Today they refused to honor their agreement so I canceled because I was put in a disadvantaged position caused by them. What reason do they have to try and scam long term customers I'll never know. That store is one problemed dishonest workers from the security guard who tries to tackle you if you happen to turn towards the wrong door, even in an almost empty store, to the manager who makes no effort to honor or even meet half way on a failed commitment they made yesterday. Instead I was labeled a liar and I don't think anyone deserves to be treated that way. Be aware if you spend your valuable time to go there. Make sure you check their commitments to you. Don't let them slip a $600 addition to their commitment to you without ever stating it prior to agreeing and installation. Very sad company, has been declining for years. read more

This review is about Comcast. I am sorry I ever used Comcast. However, at the time I moved to my current location they were the only internet provider available. It was difficult to discontinue my service with them - at one point the customer rep with whom I spoke became hostile. He said I needed to return the equipment - and then sent me on a wild goose chase to Walmart of all places. Needless to say this was not the right place. Comcast does not make it easy to find where to return the equipment - and since I am no longer a customer I cannot use the service center locator. I went into the Fruitvale store to replace a remote and DVR. They did a great job of the replacement in a short amount of time onsite. My mistake was to ask about a feature that seemed removed from my account recently. I thought it was from the malfunctioning equipment but was told that the item which did not cost extra was just not checked. So the women added the feature and let me bounce. When I got home and installed the unit I found that many premium features were missing. Phone system for customer support is the worst ever. It even seems to be by design rude.... read more

If I had another option, such as AT&T, I would choose it. Unfortunately I do not. There is such a difference between the customer service at the store on Lakeshore compared to this store in Fruitvale. The only similarity is that you are greeted when you enter both stores. I saw numerous people waiting and quite a few employees. I only saw two of them working with customers. The others were either talking to each other, watching tv, arguing with each other or looking at a computer. Their behavior was so unprofessional. They were obviously not in a hurry to help anyone. If an employee walked to another area of the store you would think they were disabled, as their gait was so slow. I asked an employee why so few people look like they are working and was told that two people greeted customers. I started to complain that I was not happy with the service, so this employee asked someone to help me. The person who came to assist me had to let me know that I was only waiting so many minutes. It did not take long to figure out how slow they were. What about all those other people who came before me and didn't complain? I got my "newer" cable boxes. It is now two days later and we are on the phone with Comcast trying to figure out why one tv never went on and the other is problematic with recording and the guide. Awful. An addendum. The store gave me an outdated cable box. I ended up having to have somebody come to the house with new equipment and set everything up for me. That man was terrific and helpful. Customer service takes forever to answer phone call; caller (the CUSTOMER (ahem!) must first wade through an "xfinity" of automated BS. The company never gives any good faith reduction on bill or discount in return for consistent, continued, repeat trouble with service, including delay or complete loss of service. Absolute CRAP!!! Monopolized CRAP. Signed up for internet access only--not stupid enough to pay for American brain pablum cable channels I have absolutely no interest in when I only want five of them at most, which are NEVER included all in one package. My internet connection CONSTANTLY cuts out - I have to reboot my router at least twice a day . . . it is obvious they throttle your speed and bandwidth at any particular time. When you call customer service or tech support it is always a major ordeal - they make you go through resetting your router and going through ten-thousand steps that you've already done prior to calling them and it takes at least two hours to get through a tech support call. I have also found their speed reports on their website completely unreliable. If only there was an alternative to internet connectivity I'd take it in a heartbeat. Granted I waited for their store to open and even patiently when they opened the doors. Being prepared again worked in my favor. I use to have kickass service from Comcast when I lived in Fairfield and Santa Clara. In Oakland, not so much. I've had a friend who use to be a technician for Comcast in Oakland and they HATE their jobs so much that they only do "half-ass" jobs (He winded up quitting). They hate their jobs because Oakland customers are hella shady. I've had about 3 technicians out to my Oakland house and they all ring true... incomplete jobs or lied about the situation so they can get the hell outta there.
