    Muy bueno!

Was looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the Golden area that we were going to be passing through last week and started pulling up all these great reviews for a taco place on the north side of town called Xicamiti la Taqueria Bistro, right at the corner of where Washington St. hits 58th. Turns out I'm just way behind the times. The place has been rockin' it for over 4 years and I'd never heard about it. Went in and glad we did. "Xicamiti" I learned, is the name of Mexico's national flower, the dahlia. Walter Meza, the owner (along with his kind wife and children) run the place and it is really excellent. Nothing fancy, but like a nice not-hole-in-the-wall street taco place, serving great food and equipped with a bar and probably 30+ seats or so inside along with a nice patio outside that gives a great view to Lookout Mtn. and Clear Creek Canyon. Had one of the most delicious quesadillas I've ever had (even though Walter said his personal favorite is the tacos campechanos). Give it a try and if you're interested here's the back-story (for you restaurant history buffs:). https://www.5280.com/the-tale-behind-the-triumph-of-goldens-xicamiti-la-taqueria-y-bistro/ Adios mi amigos, David "Nino di Xicamiti" M

4.5 stars. I've been wanting to try Xicamiti for awhile because of its high rating on Yelp. It's located right on the edge of Downtown Golden. Street parking isn't too bad for that reasons. My partner and I walked in and got seated immediately. It was fairly busy, but service was quick. I ordered the Chicharron and Camaron tacos, both of which come in threes. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. The salsa was also SO spicy. Each taco was packed with ingredients, and I definitely want to come back to try more of their menu items, from appetizers to burritos!

Holy smokes, the best Mexican food I've had in recent memory! Quick, amazing service, and unbelievably delicious. It's an unassuming restaurant next to a liquor store, but don't be deceived. They gave a warm welcome, and the owner came by several times to make us feel welcome, and explain dishes etc. We ordered compechano and Camaron tacos as well as quesadillas for the kids. The tacos had a generous portion of meat and fixins. The compechanos had some spice and were my favorite, while the Camaron tacos had a fresh flavor with more vegetables. Even the quesadillas were good. I will certainly return!

So delicious! Everything is made fresh to order, even the tortillas. The red hot sauce was so good I think we're going to have some shipped back home. I had the rajas con queso (vegetarian) tacos and hubs had chicken tacos. We also had a side of rice and beans. $33 for everything, not bad! The owner was very attentive, kind and took time to talk with me about gluten free items (nearly everything!) and he was accommodating too. So very kind. I will definitely be back next time we're here!

Went here for a quick bite after 2.5 hours of hiking; food was amazing after that hike! Everything tasted great and was seasoned just right. Not too spicy and not bland. I had a kiwi margarita, it was strooonnggg and so delicious. I had no idea I needed a kiwi margarita in my life. The serve staff was friendly and welcoming, very respectful as well. The inside was a little small, and they also had outdoor seating. We only spent 30-40 minutes there; being seated, eating, paying our tab. Definitely ideal for quick bites and good drinks.

Pork belly tacos. Worth of a final meal

If this was to be my last meal, I'd die happy. This place is small, unassuming, with simple and clean dining room. We stopped in on a Friday late afternoon before heading out of town. I'm so glad we did. We flew out of Denver back to Detroit the next morning and I couldn't bring myself to eat anything else until back in Detroit, as nothing. Would or could be as good as the food from Xicamiti La Taqueria Bistro. The owner greeted and served us. I started with a Horchata while we looked at the menu. I asked him what he recommends, and was happy to take his first suggestion of pork belly tacos as being the most flavorful. My husband chose for steak tacos, no cilantro. I wasn't starving when we visited, as everything tastes better when you're starving, but these tacos were incredible. The right blend of spice, sweet pineapple, hunks of tender pork. Just the right amount of green onion and slaw. Then there's the hot sauce. It was hot. He suggested that I add a couple drops on top to kick the flavor. I used all of mine and the ones on my husband's plate. (He doesn't do heat). I was in heaven. The horchata was cooling and refreshing. I left with my mind blown at how good the food was we just had. I only wish I was hungry for more. To try other tacos. You CANNOT skip a visit if you in the area.

    Fresh salsas! Yummy spices.

AMAZING. OMG. Seriously. Are you a Mexican food lover? Do you like lovely slow cooked meats (carnitas, barbacoa)? This place is OFF THE CHARTS excellent!! We are in Denver for business - and a friend recommend this spot. On our first visit (YES, we are here for only a couple days, but have been twice, so far...and plan one more visit before we leave)...we ordered the Al Pastor Tacos and the smothered Carnitas burrito. I am a HUGE carnitas fan...and this burrito was sublime. It's about the size of two traditional sized enchiladas (not too big)...had an amazing tomatillo sauce...with a wonderful pickled cabbagey thing on top. Seriously, every bit was moist and delicious. Baby had the Al Pastor tacos - which he pronounced "the best I've ever had." So, a couple days later we took my brother (local to Denver). This time, we took the waiter's recommendation (he is also the owner)...and I had the Barbacoa Quesadilla (which comes with Barbacoa "juice" and a nice little hot salsa) - SO great!; Baby had the "pork belly tacos" which, in his description, "Sublime! From a reluctant Mexican food person...those tacos were blessed." (He is Canadian and also not religious...so, this is unheard of...) We are in town for a couple more days...and plan to go back before we leave. We also purchased some of their salsas! Yum...all different, but lovely. No preservatives...just beautiful fresh ingredients. This place is a MUST GO! (Also, good and easy parking for our big truck) Nice outdoor seating with umbrellas! Super service. Our server clearly wants you to enjoy your experience. If I could give this restaurant a 10 star, I would.

Stopped in today for a late lunch on the way back from the mountains. Thank you fellow Yelpers! This place was absolutely delicious and will be our new go to stop come ski season. Conveniently located right off the highway. Fantastic service, The queso fundido was heavily and not to be missed, the house margarita was perfect and not overly sweet, the pork belly tacos were crunchy and melt in your mouth, and the smothered chicken burrito was also a hit. Can't wait to come back.

Amazing spot with true authentic Mexican food! The owner suggested the Barbacoa Quesadilla and wow, it was amazing

What a gem! So delicious and unique dishes. I had the quesadilla with cactus and onion. The his to dip in was delicious. The chef does a great job and the owners recipes have a flair and flavor The Barbados burrito had soooo much flavor. He knows how to use herbs and spices well. Flavors I've not had before. Even the margarita was superb with a kick! The ambiance is bright and festive and clean.

Bueno! Bueno! Bueno! The drink menu is unique and amazing. The tacos? Mwah! Quesadilla Suiza dipped in consume! Count me in. Be sure to have the Elote Flan! Service was great. It is very cute inside and totally different than you would expect from its outside appearance. Highly recommend!

Went on a Tuesday. No chips/salsa/guac. Brisket quesadilla was delicious, Al pastore was cold. Fast service. Just not a typical spot.

Very uniquely flavorful, uncommonly good and easily recommended. Portions are large and the appetizer queso is a great option.
