I want to start off by saying I live on the island before and XO Bistro was always my favorite restaurant to eat. I love the food and have no complaints about the food it's amazing. Now as far as the service I have a problem. My husband and I visited the restaurant on November 13th the hostess found us a seat and the bartender, waitress our table. She was great and made sure our experience was a good one. Our bill was $100 and we also tip $30.00. Because we enjoy the food and service so much we decided to go back the next day. We call ahead to order because the restaurant stop serving food at 10:30pm. Olivia answer and took our order, she communicated that they were at capacity and that we might have to take the food to go. Once we got there it was full but we ask can we wait about 10 minutes to see if a table comes free be cause we prefer to dine in. There was a new staff working and the lady who was the hostess seem to be annoy with our request. We order a drink and waited outside until a table came free. Five ladies show up and a table came free, but instead of calling us it seem like the hostess was going to sit them. So I went in and place my purse on the table to remind her that we were waiting, she seem more annoy and here is where the bad service begun. She refuse to give her name but wore a hunter green dress. She bluntly started to ignore our table. I ask if it was too late to add an appetizer at 10:32 and she communicated yes, but then proceeded right in front of us to take the other fives ladies good order. My husband ask for hot sauce, she literally ignore him. I had to get up and get it myself. I had to get up and go to the bar to get him another drink before the 11pm came and drinks stop serving. The lady in the green dress brought the drink, spill it in my husband food put it down and just walk off. We remain quiet and patient. We sat at the table waiting another 30 mins to see if anyone will touch the table and see if we wanted anything or even bring the bill. Our table was ignore for the entire time we were there. So I got up again and requested our bill, a bill they automatically place 18% gratuity on. I spoke to one of the bartenders dress in black and explain why should I tip when I was never service. She grab the receipt and said I know you would say that. I explain that we are here last night and my husband and I tip $30 to the waitress the evening before, so tipping was never a problem. The service was horrible and I refuse to pay for horrible service. She shoo me off and roll her eyes. I then ask if there was a manager on duty, she said no and walk away. I heard her complaining to the other bartender dress in Paige, she came over to find out what was going on. She explain that she remember us from last night and was a little more apologetic than the other staff. I don't want make this a racist complaint but you blatantly could see the other ladies were stereo typing us because my husband has locs, which is weird because we are on island. My husband paid with his platinum Amex and the lady in Paige was a little more apologetic and offer free drinks. I decline and communicated that all we wanted was the same service we receive the night before. She communicated the hostess working only works one night a week. I will love to dine here again because the food is amazing, but don't believe in spending my husband and I hard earn money at an establish that don't treat everyone as equals. read more

Convenience and serving food after 10:00 were the main star earners here. And they had a bargain wine list of wine they are removing from their list, discontinued wine, wine with a low reserve... we had two bottles of the wines on the list, they were very reasonable and the selection was huge. I really liked the decor, though not a lot of seating for big parties, although there were only 7 of us we were moved around a bit. Most of the table ordered an app and/or salad instead of a large meal. I opted for an app that seemed like it was going to rock! It was a lightly blackened coupling of a variety of seafood and steak. So here is the problem with blackening delicate morsels from the sea: they are delicate and you have to be spaing with the blackening season or else they will have a thick, highly salted, overpowering layer of it and one will not be able to taste delicate morsels at all. Maybe that was a good thing judging by the quality of everyone else's food. I had to send back the sampling of steak because it was way too rare for me, can't blame the kitchen for that one. So I say skip the whole ordeal. XO Bistro is in a strip mall. You are in St. Thomas, go find a better restaurant with better food, better personality, and maybe an ocean view. read more

Fantastic food, amazing service! Had blackened tuna appetizer that was amazing, crab topped mahi as an entree, and the Reeses peanut butter cake for dessert! Everything was excellent! Other people in my party had the Prime Rib special and said it was some of the best Prime Rib they have had! Be sure to make reservations if you are planning to eat with a larger party. read more

Very disappointing experience. Been coming to XO bistro for years... but this visit with guests was horrible. Made to wait for table even with reservation and free table in front of us ,because server was backed up and didn't want us to be seated yet. Bait and switch coupon two for one drinks but lame excuse to buy back cheapest drink on order , even with two of the same drinks.Sent back three orders of ribs which were not cooked through , they were very tough and tasteless. Mahi ordered in its place for double the cost of our initial order was better but with no compensation despite having to wait . When asked to speak with a manager of course one was not available to authorize any customer satisfaction . Disappointing and will not be back . For drinks this place is decent, solid wine list and craft cocktails, but skip the food. Had the Chicken Apple Brie sandwich and my pita folded in half had 2 tiny strips of chicken and 2 slices of brie. The meat didn't even go to the edges of the bread. I'm used to St Thomas prices and this was even bad for the island. Just tiny portions, obnoxious service since I didn't know the bartender personally. Bartender was busy when we walked in, we sat at the corner of the bar, when she was done she walked over to a local she knew that had literally just sat down said hi and took their drink order. I was absolutely appalled by the service at XO Bistro. Amber was the most utterly disrespectful server i have ever experienced. Upon arrival our party was told that we could add additional seats to our table and Amber refused to accommodate us despite other waitresses protesting that she could. Later while taking our drink order she demanded that we make the process work for her but only gave us two drink menus for a party of 10. We told her that the process was rigid and she became very defensive and rude, ultimately walking away without acknowledging us. We asked for another server and were told "absolutely not". From there, another party (who was not able to be seated with us) overheard amber telling a bartender that she thought our party thought she was racist. Later after we received our first round of drinks we decided to close out early and dine elsewhere as we were not only receiving bad service but being negatively labeled which could impact our dining experience. At this point Amber refused to give us a check and took over 3 minutes of convincing to close us out. After paying, our party asked another server for the managers information. Amber intervened aggressively grabbing the woman demanding that she not speak with us and shoved menus at her face. This behavior was absolutely unacceptable and Amber should not work in the service industry. read more

This review is lstrictly about the bar service, but I highly doubt I would return for the restaurant. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Don't come here if you're a Black tourist. They assume you're a local and won't even serve you. My friend and I sat at the bar for just over 10 min watching three female bartenders pass us by multiple times. They interacted with the other guest appropriately, (none of whom were Black). I even watched as they got refills and full service, like getting their bills. Giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they were overwhelmed with the 10 people at the bar, I gave them plenty of time. Even in their down time they stood there talking amongst each other. Finally after about 7 minutes one bartender developed a conscious and brought us a menu. Unfortunately another 5 or so minutes later we were sitting there but she never came back to ask us what we wanted. That's when we decided to leave as unnoticeably as we came in. Sea Scallops were perfect! The prime rib was ok. Lots of interesting people watching here. A bit understaffed, but service was still efficient. Meghan tended the bar and tables and everything was perfect to our table. Probably would of had more to drink if we had a real waitress, but the food was excellent. Although the meal was pretty good the service from our waitress was horrid!!! We made reservations & was greeted promptly by a lovely hostess! Our waitress was taking care of a table of 5 beside us so we waited patiently. Finally we got to order a drink & added an appetizer. At first Amber, our waitress, seemed pleasant enough until we realized that she was more interested in the table of 5 & the bar crowd than our meager table of 2. Thankfully our hostess cleared our appetizer dishes & finally got a second cocktail. We ordered the XO salad which was delicious & then had the prime rib special & crab topped mahi for dinner. When we finished our dinner the hostess again cleared our plates. We asked to see a desert menu but it never materialized. We could see our waitress serving many customers at the bar even though there was a bartender & making 2 cocktails at a time. After our drinks were gone & she wouldn't look in our direction I went to the bar to ask for our check. She pointed to a wine glass & said she'd get it after she delivered the wine. I insisted on the check & she pushed past me. Needless to say we paid the check, left a despicable tip & gave the hostess the full tip amount for making our evening nice. I urge the management to reprimand this waitress. From the looks of the reviews she is an ongoing issue & is costing you business. If you want a nice meal in Red Hook don't hesitate to go to XO Bistro just make sure you have a different waitress than Amber or you'll regret the $$$ spent. read more

Went for a light dinner a week ago. We ordered the lobster escargot - it was good, but not sure I would get it again. The lobster was a little tough. The chinese chicken salad was awesome! Juicy chicken, edamame, wontons - delicious. Wine selection was decent too. Nice to go to a place where rum was the front-runner. read more

A little dive bar type restaurant, the food was very good. Not really a restaurant but a good stop for something different.

My husband and I dined at XO Bistro recently, and we loved it! The service was friendly and attentive. For an appetizer we shared the spinach artichoke in a bread bowl which was great, though quite filling. My husband ordered the vegetable Wellington which was a delicious option that we don't usually see. It also came with jalapeño polenta which we love. I had the blackened tuna and it was excellent. It was pan seared and was served with vegetables and wasabi mashed potatoes. I highly recommend that dish! Due to the appetizer I couldn't finish my meal which was at first a little sad, but I took it home and got to enjoy the leftovers for lunch the next day. Oh, also XO Bistro is a well-stocked wine bar. I opted for a red sangria and then the Pomegranate Ginger Sparkler cocktail. Both were fantastic. I would definitely recommend XO Bistro without any doubts. I only wish I had the time to return before my trip ended! read more

This place was so good our first time at the beginning of our trip we went back again! Our first visit we all enjoyed our food and our server was so sweet. We all enjoyed our meals - the shrimpscargot appetizer, the crab stuffed mahi, a pasta special, the blackened tuna and a pork special. On our second visit we had family join us and the manager, Bree, was very accommodating for our large party in her small restaurant. Again, all of the dishes were outstanding and well liked - lasagna (to die for), halibut, kabobs, flat bread pizza and the bacon wrapped chicken. It was my nephews birthday the next day, so we were celebrating that, and the dessert they brought us was amazing - three different cheesecake type slices of yumminess. There are several restaurants we ate at in Red Hook throughout the week, most just mediocre, so make sure this one is at the top of your list! read more

We were referred to this place by a local that went on about the new chef and how good the food was. He was totally right, the food was the best we ate on the island in a week.
